First the good. Wait staff warm, friendly and truly wanting to help. If your looking to pick up some good people for your restaurant, they are great. The decor and ambiance are close to perfect. Well done, great flow and comfortable. The issues with this establishment definitely start and end with the leadership. Initial wait time to get seated was 45 minutes. Understandable for a Sunday. They had a plan for coffee and water for those waiting AND the coffee service was never refilled from earlier in the day, and the "citrus water" fruit near the top had mold growth. Stayed away from that. watched the "manager" and all he was focused on is getting people to tables, and that is not the issue here. Again, upon seating the waitress was fantastic and got to us immediately. We ordered our full meal right then, and began the second waiting period. After 30+ minutes of waiting for our food, I got up and reviewed the entire dining room. Only 2 tables had food. Everyone else was like us, waiting, and there were many of hangry faces. After another 15 minutes, our food arrived, nicely plated and visually appealing. Upon first bite, the eggs benedict was cold. Not warm, refrigeration cold. The "ham" appeared to be lunch meat ham and felt like it was right out of the fridge. The eggs and hollandaise were room temp and the holladaise bland. So on to the side of bacon I thought. Same result. Precooked and room temp. Sent it all back and requested nothing else. On the plus side, my daughters side of egg whites was hot and the avocado toast on point! From watching the kitchen while I was waiting, it was obvious that there was chaos. The wait staff were hovering, waiting to take care of there customers, and the kitchen was not performing. The kitchen management is going to kill this place. Now for the leadership at it's finest. What appeared to be kitchen leadership came to our table to ask if we wanted a new meal. Again, I said no it was ok, and she blamed game day, and short staffing, she never actually took ownership of the problem. She then offered, for next time, to provide a couple of free meals to make up for the error. She provided to me what she explained as a "free meal on us" and handed me a couple of vouchers. Turns out these vouchers are not for a free meal, as she presented but rather are buy one, get one free coupons. Not what I would consider a "mea culpa". I truly feel sorry for the wait staff as the leadership and kitchen are taking money right out of their pockets. If leadership would have just focused on the kitchen speed and organization, the table speed would have improved and the customers and employees would not be made to suffer. So much opportunity . . . great concept . . . Poorly executed. There are many other options in Oxford, MS that are better run, and thus a better experience. Very disappointed. I judge breakfast places by their eggs Benedict, if they have it on the menu. Mine were terrible. One egg was nicely poached, the other was way overdone. Should never have gone on the plate. Hollandaise was thin and tasteless. Instead of Canadian bacon, they use smoked ham, which looks and tastes like it comes from the prepackaged deli section of Kroger. Side salad was not dressed at all. Waitress was very nice but never picked uleft dirty plates on the table and dropped our checks before we even finished eating. Manager needs to train better. Update: I got back today--I meant to get back earlier. The service remains ok. Waited for over five minutes before we were greeted by the waiter. Many tables remained dirty for too long. Ordered a soupe du jour and Cobb salad -- and the waiter interpreted that as a soup and salad combo. I didn't get charged as much as if I had paid for full portions of each, but the portions I received were pretty small. Obviously many Oxonians like this restaurant, and I wish them the best, but I'm still not very impressed. read more

If it's crowded they will lie about their waitlist. The manager even admitted that they lost business when they were honest about the wait. We were on a limited time schedule visiting our son at school. We had a flight out that afternoon. We were told it would be a 45 minute wait. We felt like that was doable with our schedule. After 45 minutes, we were told it would be 20 more minutes. My son suggested we go somewhere else, but I said we can't get in anywhere else in under 20 minutes. We might as well wait. After 50 additional minutes (1 hour 35 minutes total) we were told we were 2nd on the list. So, we finally sat down 1 hour and 45 minutes after getting on the list. The manager claimed it had to do with a "glitch" in their online check in app. He apologized and offered to pay for our meal. However, during that conversation he admitted when he was honest about wait times the day before they had empty tables at noon because people wouldn't wait. He made a calculated risk with our time and the worst it was going to cost him was the price of a few meals. At that point we left without eating. read more

Great service and even better food. I recommend coming early in case there's a wait. I'm a huge fan of the Kale tonic, the French toast is nothing short of amazing, and bacon speaks for itself. And the muffins!!! The blueberry muffins are mouthwatering. read more

Don't let the construction stop you - we loved our brunch. Service was incredibly attentive and clearly still training so was almost overzealous! I had the breakfast tacos, fresh and flavorful. My husband had the frittata rustica which i highly recommend. Love how it came with salad and toast. We tried a multigrain pancake with real maple syrup and it was fluffier than expected. The cold brew was flavorful but not as strong as i usually like. They accommodated our 6 month old easily. We will definitely be back! read more

Horrible horrible horrible service! Stood at the front for approximately 5 minutes waiting to be seated. A guy comes from the kitchen with his greasy gloves and does not speak but grabs 3 menus and proceeds to walk us to a table inside however we wanted to sit outside. I tell him so he takes us outside seats us and to be perfectly honest the experience got a little better from there. The server was ok, the food was decent I ordered the farmhouse hash skillet, the coffee was not good. The food part was fine except the server grabbed a tray of sugar, creamer, etc from a table people had just left - not really covid cautious of you as me, but they didn't seem to care about that sort of thing. The kicker was leaving, the server brought us the incorrect check and left to bring us the correct one. After waiting for it for a while I decided to go inside to the cashier hoping that we can get the check and cash out. The same rude person who seated us was standing there fumbling around with receipts and once again did not say a word while I stood right in his face for about 5 minutes again. I asked him if it's customary for them not not speak to their guests and he said "oh, I'm really busy right now" and the proceeds to sarcastically ask me "so how was your meal? Okay great" I signed my ticket and left. I will not come back, there are too many places where I can spend money and be treated better. Wow! This place is great! The food and drinks are very flavorful and really good quality, the service is outstanding and the decor is light and open. My wife had a lemon ricotta pancake topped with lemon curd and strawberries (just one because they are BIG), a side of ham and some OJ. I had turkey biscuits & gravy, a side of bacon and two of what they call their "Morning Meditation" - OJ w/lemon, mixed with ginger and turmeric, and topped with beet juice. It's the type of drink I could sip any time of the day, and it really complemented my breakfast well! Wow. Let's just say get the breakfast tacos. I was heavily impressed with not only the taste but the layout of the food. The only thing I would say that first watch can improve on is the water/coffee service as we needed a refill for most of the meal. I have always had the best service here. They have great food, coffee, servers, menu, environment, etc. My boyfriend has celiac and cannot eat gluten and this restaurant has always gladly made the necessary accommodations for him. This is by far one of our favorite breakfast spots in oxford, especially for a low key morning. I've heard wonderful things about the French toast, and they are currently preparing a gluten free version for my boyfriend. Talk about hospitality. Will be returning. read more

If you are looking for a place that serves good breakfast/lunch food and is airy and well lit you may really enjoy it here. The food has that tasty, greasy yet healthy-ish feel and the atmosphere a fresh feel. I tried the wild mushroom frittata and the ham and gruyere melt sandwich, both very good, and our service was decent (although I never understand why they bring you the bill without asking whether you want anything else). The reason why I am not sure I will go back is that the sound level was awful. Today I had to ask them to take them back and get me different ones and they were no better, they are just mush. This review is about my second visit to First Watch. The first visit was subpar but I decided to give this restaurant a second chance. This visit was marginally better. If any owners/managers read these reviews, your staff, servers and kitchen, need better training. It's totally on the managers here. This visit, our waitress was all right. She was friendly and responsive but once our food arrived, she didn't check in with us for a while. I also has asked for milk with my coffee because I do not like half and half. She brought a cute little cup of milk but then never refilled it. I like a lot of milk in my coffee. I ordered the Elevated Egg sandwich which sounded great. I asked for my eggs to be over medium, rather than over easy because I wanted the yolks to be slightly runny rather than super runny. When I got the sandwich and cut into it, the eggs were clearly over easy because it was just egg yolk everywhere. It would have also been nice if you toasted the brioche bun (though, to be fair, the description did not say it would be toasted). Between the bun, the avocado mash, the runny eggs, it was all a big mush and very unpleasant to eat. I took a few bites and waited for the waitress to return. I had a few bites of the potatoes which were fine. Once the waitress finally returned, I ordered a Belgian waffle. She took away the runny egg sandwich (and took it off my bill which I appreciated). She brought the waffle fairly quickly although I had to flag down another waitress to get a fork because the eggy one was taken away. A good Belgian waffle should be crisp on the outside and tender on the inside. This was a sorry, soggy piece of waffle but it was edible and I was hungry. I ate about 3/4 of it. To sum up, please train your kitchen staff to follow the orders as requested. Please train your wait staff to follow up more quickly and to pay attention to the details. As I said before, she was light years ahead of the previous server I had (who I noticed was still working there so I hope he's gotten better) who didn't notice the big things. Until I hear that things have improved, I won't be returning to First Watch. For the quality and service, not to mention the high prices, it's simply not worth it. read more

The food was great 9/10. But the service was rubbish. We were greeted with "would you like some coffee?" Thinking it was complimentary. Turns out it was 2.79 a person for some mediocre beans. There was nobody in there and it still took 30 minutes for a glass of water. The server was too busy cleaning up her section that she neglected us until closing time. We showed up at 12:30. Part of our order was missing and we didn't receive it until we were done with our meal. "Oh the cook forgot about it." She said. Sounds like she was finding someone else to blame.
