The food is always satisfying, even during the COVID era. This location has seats that are separated by Pyrex glasses. However after eating, I looked through their kitchen and noticed the 3 people behind the 2nd row inside had their masks pulled below their noses all the time, some just hanging on their chins, and they're actively pulling them down to talk to each other. With all the shouting and cooking noise in there, I can understand that they couldn't hear each other wearing masks. But they are serving FOOD. The company should invest in some wearable communication devices to help them keep their masks on and OVER their noses AT ALL TIME. I'm not going back any time soon because of this. read more

I currently need a very bland diet, and she let me order bananas only as a side instead of mixed fruit and didn't make me feel weird about it, instead ensured they were cut up and easy for me to eat. Honestly it was a very nice experience. We showed up around peak brunch hours on a sunday, and were seated relatively quickly and without much fuss. The food was great and the atmosphere is very chalkboard/wood inspired. I ordered the skillet hash, with over easy eggs. When the waitress brought the food out, one of the eggs wasn't quite over easy, and before handing it to me, she said she had already done a reorder to "fix it". First Watch was our breakfast choice on our last morning in Raleigh. I LOVED it. The menu is has lots and lots of delicious choices with ingredients clearly written out and calorie counts. It was easy to make a selection based on your health needs. I like to start the day with a good cup of coffee and a decent protein with some vegetables or fruit. My most recent visit to First Watch surprised me. My prior visits (to other chain locations) left me feel "eh" but this could be due to the crowds, long waits and lack of flavor. I visited at lunch time on a Wednesday afternoon and was impressed. They still serve up all their breakfast options and were able to accommodate a large table quickly (FYI: you can grab a cup of coffee if you do have a wait). The menu is large, but it is organized in a very convenient and simple manner, I love their large list of "healthier" options and I went with the power wrap on this occasion. It was hot out of the pan and hit the spot. One of my table mates ordered the granola/yogurt appetizer that is served with peanut butter toast, looked delicious and a great serving size. I'd go back for a weekday breakfast or lunch. Service was quick and you should note that you'll pay your bill at the host stand. Also, I received a $2 off my next meal on my receipt, so they're trying to get customers in the door. They're doing something right because they place was plenty full for a Wednesday at lunch. read more

Ordered a pickup order and was told it would be about 15 minutes. Showed up 15 minutes later, and was asked to hang out while they finished our order, which is no problem. About half an hour passed before we got our food though, which was a bit aggravating. On top of that, the order was incorrect when we opened it at home. My husband and I like going to First Watch for brunch on the weekends. I ordered the healthy turkey omelet and it was really good. I just wish that it also came with some jelly/jam. I also tried the carrot cake and pecan multigrain pancake (huge btw) and it was delicious! Probably my favorite dish that I ordered from First Watch. My husband ordered the frittata rustica and he seemed to enjoy his meal as well. One thing I will say though is that our waitress, Gwendolyn, seemed to be all over the place. She first sat us at one table and asked us to move to the next table over so that they could accommodate another guest...who then left the restaurant soon after. Im not sure what that was about and if it was something in her control or not. She offered both of us a free drink item to compensate, which is nice of her. It's like a newspaper style, which is cool but also a little confusing to find what you're looking for or make a decision! I got the Elevated Egg Sandwich on a brioche roll-- the roll itself was amazing! I liked the sandwich but I wouldn't say a loved it. It had some greens along with the avocado that just got stuck in my teeth, unnecessary addition. I would definitely get the multigrain toast with butter & preserves! So good. We enjoy visiting First Watch for breakfast or lunch. All of our servers have been great- Joe, Michael, Sherry and others. Breakfast is hearty, the coffee is always good. Weekdays are usually best, but if you go on the weekend, if you don't get there before 9am, usually there is a small wait, but not too long. My only knock on First Watch is that they could do more from an environmental perspective, such as using the local Compost Now group for composting, not printing out new menus every month (something more sustainable)? and thinking about other straw options. read more

First Watch has kind of become a tradition for my husband and I on Sunday mornings. We have been countless times and the food never disappoints. The line is always long, so I definitely suggest jumping on the wait list before you leave your house. It has saved us a bunch of time of not just standing around in the tiny waiting area. We have had some hit or miss servers, but a couple of them have been so outstanding that it makes up for it. I always love their seasonal menu also. It's nice to change it up every time. We ordered on DooDash. At first sight we were excited to have the breakfast for two and million dollar bacon. The first warning was the dried parsley flakes on everything.... and it went downhill from there. The "fresh" fruit consisted of canned pineapple, honey dew melon and grapes. Not very good at all. The million dollar bacon: so much pepper, and I love pepper but dang. It was inedible. Just seems to me restaurants, especially now, would be producing their best food... disappointed. This is the second First Watch I've been to, the other being in Newport News VA. This one was quite a bit smaller and it was pretty packed since people were just getting out of church on an early Sunday afternoon. Thankfully the host was quick to find the two of us a table, even though larger parties were waiting for theirs. I ordered the chicken chopped salad and a half and half iced tea. The salad was very flavorful, the chicken was well seasoned, there was a good crunch from the tortilla strips to go with the creaminess of the avocado. The greens though, were more stems than leaves, so it wasn't the easiest salad to eat. In the past week I've gone to First Watch twice! The food is amazing and it's pretty healthy. Our server was very funny-- ask for Michael if you can. The first day I got a power wrap. It was delicious. It was paired perfectly with their house made pico de gallo. Day 2 I got the tri-athlete. I also got a side of the million dollar bacon (a seasonal item. We stopped at the Glenwood location for a spur of the moment quick bite. I didn't get a picture of the menu but I did get the kid's menu which actually was my focus for this trip. Anyway, the prices are super-affordable. So here's what we ordered: Kid's Half Waffle $5.79 Cup of Cheese Grits $2.49 No need for hot sauce in my bag #Yonce! They had Cholula on the table! Oh, and yes, I totally stole a piece of my little's bacon! Shhhh! She had TWO and didn't need it. That was a great portion size for older children but it's safe to say that my 3-Year-Old did finish that Half Waffle. Grand Total: $8.96 AFFORDABLE! Other than that, The decor is adorable! It's a super-friendly environment with chalk art throughout. It's really farmstand-y with a lot of metal touches everywhere. I have had some great meals at first watch locations and appreciate the attention to offering gluten free selections on their menu. However, I will not be coming back to this location in particular. I always get the waitress who calls everyone "baby" and puts her hand on your shoulder while completely ignoring your order specifics. Maybe not a deal breaker if you don't have diet restrictions but when you are celiac it doesn't inspire much confidence when your specific requests are ignored. The last time I was there she failed to tell the kitchen I needed gluten free. My husband asked for "regular BLT" with no cheese (he cant have dairy) or arugula or avocado and she said "I know what you want" and then served him a spinach, cheese and bacon egg sandwich. This is more of an first impressions review to give insight to some of the things we noticed right off the bat. First, they don't have turkey bacon or gluten free options so if you want those, go somewhere else. They do have turkey sausage if you're ok substituting for sausage instead. When we arrived it was a very busy Saturday afternoon (Father Day weekend no less) and they were kind enough to offer complimentary coffee. We sat down after about 20 minutes which was impressive considering how busy it was. The tables were sticky when we first sat down but we were attendees fairly quick. Our waiter didn't offer the usual personal touches. "Is this your first time?" Because that question wasn't asked the rest followed suit. It felt like a waiter from a diner. "I'll come back in a few", That's about the extent of our conversation. The potatoes are overly salted. The grits taste like hot water with cheese melted on it and my egg sandwich with spinach and avocado was basically just a giant bun with avocado, tons of spinach and somewhere in there might have been some eggs. I would at least talk about how good the drinks were if I ever got them, but the water was great. This was my first time at first watch and it will undoubtedly be my last. Less than 10% of tables have patrons and food is still cold when it reaches the table 45 minutes after being seated. We did watch other tables come and go.
