I went to Braise for Thanksgiving. Positives: The set up was very nice and orderly and the food was good. Negatives: While the food was good, it was not hot and we got there only 30 minutes after they opened. The "servers" whose only job was to clear plates and keep drinks full did neither. Plates weren't collected until we were almost done and we had to keep refilling our own drinks. There were plenty of them there working but they were just standing around much of the time. English was not their first language and they didn't seem to know any answers to our questions. For $65 per person and mandatory payment plus 18% gratuity 2 days before, it's not worth it. Tips are meant to be post-service, when you can decide if the person earned it. They most definitely did not. read more

Enjoyed a family Thanksgiving meal hosted in the ballroom by Braise. So this day was not their typical menu items. Very nice set up, beautiful displays and some great traditional thanksgiving dishes as well as a few new ones. The walk up bar provided good service. But table service was a bit off. I think quite a few of the servers were not English speakers so it was a bit difficult to get assistance for waters for the table and other things you need a server for. We had to glad a couple of servers down for help only for them to point out who our server was. It was a bit of confusion but everything eventually worked itself out in the end. read more

Stayed at the Marriott in Raleigh for a business trip so I decided to check out the restaurant located in the main lobby and I'm happy to report that I was not disappointed! First off, the service here is incredible. Tegest is an absolute gem; she is such a sweetheart and was very warm, welcoming, and helpful throughout the time that I was here even when I wasn't eating and she caught me walking by. I ordered the eastern Carolina pulled pork omelette which was really tasty. It came with hash browns which had great texture and complemented the omelette well. It also came with a blueberry muffin which hit the spot and was a nice sweet fix after a savory meal. A couple nights later, I ordered the Harissa Glazed Salmon for dinner and I promise I'm not exaggerating when I say this was one of the best cooked and tastiest dishes I've ever had the pleasure of tasting in my life!! The salmon was cooked to absolute perfection with a delicious glaze, nice crust, and was super tender. The basmati had just the right texture and was salted/buttered immaculately. The broccoli was cooked just right and balanced out the whole meal very well. I was just unbelievably impressed by how delicious the dish was and that every component was masterfully crafted. Bravo to the chef! One other compliment goes to Mike and Jada who helped me at the bar; they were super cool and friendly which was much appreciated. The vibe here is great and I would highly recommend for anyone staying at the Marriott to check this place out! read more

Go across the street. Go, go now. Yes, I know you're tired, and you figure you will get a beer and some food so you can go back to your room to relax. Don't do it!!! Don't! Go get the beer, and tip the bar tenders well. The kitchen is run by a couple of drunk clowns that can't read or cook. The chicken was so over cooked and rubbery I should have saved to make tire plugs. They could not even get the salad right. The service at the bar is great. The bar is worth stopping and drinking and tipping. Don't eat there. Across the street are many food options, go there. I will be. Have a great trip! read more

Bottom Line: Everything we had was great. Yes, it's hotel prices but at least the food was good. I had a Chef Salad with Shrimp added. It was absolutely a full meal. Huge! The salad had Lots of Bacon, Hard Boiled Eggs, Chunks of Avocado, Tomatoes, Crispy Bacon and Cheese. The added Shrimp were large; firm and tasty. My dinner mate had a Veggie Burger which wasn't on the menu but it should be. It was also very good. We shared the fries that came with her burger - well - I took some. I told her it was for research ;-) They were hot and had just enough crisp. I also got a salad to go for later in the day. It was a side salad but that too was a large portion. Service was quick and attentive. I noted in a pic that when the coffee came out you could tell that they had "hotted" the cup - nice touch. Next time I'm here I will def grab a meal here. read more

I stayed at the Marriott for a week for work, and ate here at least 4-5 of the days. For a hotel restaurant, it's pretty good and compared to some of the restaurants in the mall across the street, it's mostly better. Orders that I had: Drunken Shrimp Appetizer Smoked Wings Appetizer Gulf Shrimp and Grits Breakfast Buffet Pros: The food is pretty good for hotel food. Overall, I enjoyed what I got here and it's like fancy renditions of southern staples such as cheddar shrimp and grits. Of the things I had, the smoked wings were the winner with sweet and slightly spicy bbq sauce. Portions are actually huge. 2 of the nights I got just an appetizer for dinner given how much food it was. The plate of wings was so huge, I couldn't even finish it as my full dinner. The drunken shrimp was also perfectly cooked. Cons: Can be somewhat expensive but that's not particularly surprising given that it's located in a Marriott. Service can take a while, given that they share the kitchen with the bar. The breakfast buffet is good, while service can be a bit confusing since the pricing is by items included from the buffet but the buffet setup is all the same so I guess it's more or less honor system. Hospitality is polite and kind -- the waiter there on my last few days saw me often enough that he already knew my order and how I wanted my coffee! Pro tip: Call in your order in advance or get it as room service -- I once ordered at the bar and it took a really long to just get an appetizer portion out. The bar also was not busy at all at the time. Overall -- a pretty solid place to eat if you don't want to venture out. read more

It's hard to be impressed by it on first glance - it looks like the kinda place that's going to be bland. That said, the food is WAY better than you'd think: the BBQ is actually quite good, and the Cheerwine ribs are genuinely tasty. The prices are high, but not excessively so. Big picture: this place is actually worth trying, even if you aren't staying at the Marriott. read more

I had two experiences at the bar and restaurant for Braise Contemporary. I had drinks at the end of the evening.. well poured and great service. The beer list is thin, but acceptable. Breakfast at the restaurant was fine, with the kitchen sending out meat that was asked to be omitted. My Continental breakfast was perfect. I appreciate that Marriott hotels have good food even with the pandemic going on, and attract servers who exemplify the best of customer service. read more

I presume it was empty because the food is subpar. Good options, but everything we had was particularly bland. Even the drink wasn't mixed well. I was really disappointed. We went here for restaurant week so we did not experience the whole menu. It took an hour and 40 minutes to receive our entree (which included a bland app). There was only one other table besides us. The cook seemed very upset when we expressed our concern for the delay, stating, "so I heard someone has a problem" as if we were picking a fight. Our meal was disconnected, but at the cost of the waitress gratitity. We were very excited about the menu, but it was very unseasoned and the meat was fatty. Sadly we were very disappointed. Before I launch into this, I have to say that once the manager, Chris, got involved everything improved dramatically! So, props to Chris for being able to take action and get results. Now... why did Chris have to get involved? We were staying at the hotel and went to the restaurant for breakfast at 10:00 on Sunday morning. Breakfast ends at 11:00. We were not greeted by a hostess and had to ask someone if we sat ourselves. They said "sure." We were then corrected by the hostess once she saw us sit down. I had to ask her for a menu. Our waitress didn't come to our table for 5 minutes even though there were at least 4-6 waitstaff floating around. When she came to the table, she took our drink order and promptly brought them out. Great! We decided to go with the buffet and asked her when biscuits would be brought back out to refill the buffet. She said "in just a moment." We mostly wanted biscuits and gravy for breakfast (which was not on the menu to order separate from the buffet). We didn't see her again for a while, so we asked another waiter about the biscuits and he said they were on the way. 10 MINUTES LATER, one of the kitchen staff came out to inspect the buffet and I heard someone ask him about biscuits too. He said "I'll go out some in the oven." Wow! Clearly, I'd been ignored for 15 minutes. So, I got Chris... The chef really didn't know that biscuits were low because it took an additional 15 minutes for them to come out. By the time they did, there was a line of 5-8 people waiting for biscuits. And once they came out, the gravy had separated and was kinda gross. The icing on the cake in all of this is that our waitress was clueless. She brought us the bill before we ever got food! We were still waiting for biscuits to come out, and she brought us the bill. I've never seen a waitstaff so apathetic about their job, and I don't get it! I would like to give zero stars. The restaurant claimed we had no reservation for our group and when shown the receipt for the online reservation they claimed that the person that confirmed it on the phone and text wasn't working that day and that was the issue. Once we ordered, as the only party there it took over an hour to get any food. It came out wrong. It came out cold, like from the fridge cold. There were servers walking around but refused to help us. Once we were annoyed the manager insisted we just eat and enjoy. The bar was alright. read more

I eat here a few times a month and I've always enjoyed everything I've tried! The menu has an amazing amount of choices for anything you may have a craving for. I've eaten at Braise a couple of times when I'm in the Crabtree area, and I always enjoy it! There's an extensive salad list for lunch, and the short rib sliders are fabulous. I also loved the pulled pork sandwich, it was very good and the eastern style sauce was not overpowering. I was very impressed with the BBQ since Braise isn't a "BBQ place". Definitely worth a try if you're in the area. read more
