The Cobb Salad w Shrimp. TONS of Bacon, Hard Boiled Eggs and HUGE chunks of Avocado. Super filling.
    Cassie F.

Bottom Line: Everything we had was great. Yes, it's hotel prices but at least the food was good. I had a Chef Salad with Shrimp added. It was absolutely a full meal. Huge! The salad had Lots of Bacon, Hard Boiled Eggs, Chunks of Avocado, Tomatoes, Crispy Bacon and Cheese. The added Shrimp were large; firm and tasty. My dinner mate had a Veggie Burger which wasn't on the menu but it should be. It was also very good. We shared the fries that came with her burger - well - I took some. I told her it was for research ;-) They were hot and had just enough crisp. I also got a salad to go for later in the day. It was a side salad but that too was a large portion. Service was quick and attentive. I noted in a pic that when the coffee came out you could tell that they had "hotted" the cup - nice touch. Next time I'm here I will def grab a meal here.

Worst shrimp and grits ever. This is exactly how I had to leave it.

Bland food and awful food. Could not eat the shrimp and grits. Asked for bacon for it and it didn't improve the taste--just awful.

Supposed to be smoked, flash fried with sweet and spicy BBQ sauce. Was overcooked and no crispness at all

Wasn't pleased with these wings. For the price and based on the reviews I kind of was expecting a lot more than I received figuratively and literally. I felt as if they were overpriced and over cooked

Best wings that I have ever tried. HANDS DOWN!

Our waitress was super friendly & kept calling me love it was a Friday afternoon so it was not crowded at all. We were seated right away & the food came out quick. We ordered food based off recommendations on yelp. The buffalo wings were great. I could tell they were seasoned well and cooked to perfection. Since we already had chicken, I decided to get the beef cheesesteak wrap. Great decision because it was fireeeeee. So fresh, so good. I only ate half because it was a great portion. The fries that came with it were delicious, crunchy and fresh. Both of the pizzas were very cheesy and tasty. I thought it was going to be a personal pizza but they were huge and enough for the table. Overall great experience and will go back for that wrap if I'm ever in Raleigh again!

I heard some people next to us complain about the wait time for their food but given how busy it was, I don't think it was insanely long. We sat on the porch and it was really nice dinner! Will definitely be returning to try other menu options!

The NY Strip arrived more than well done, so we told the waitress and she apologized and sent it back to the kitchen. As I was eating the meatloaf, I noticed an off taste and texture. I looked closer and realized it was still pink/slimy/raw! How can meatloaf be raw? It's supposed to be fully cooked first and then grilled. Whoever sliced it from the "loaf" should have noticed it was not cooked before throwing it on the grill! We notified the manager when he came to apologize for the NY strip, so he took the meatloaf back to the kitchen. When the NY Strip came back out, my husband cut into it and it was shiny and purple inside, from top to bottom...absolutely rare. The waitress agreed it was rare and took it back to the kitchen again. When it came out for the third time, it was perfect (third time's a charm, I guess?). The only saving grace was the kind waitress who felt awful about the sub par food. The kitchen put her in an uncomfortable position, but she handled it with grace. We ordered the chocolate torte for dessert and it was very good, but that's the only thing I'd return for.

I had the flounder tacos, which were fresh, flavorful, beautifully seasoned but not hot or overly spicy and included fresh corn, slaw and magic. My husband had a summer vegetable risotto with pan seared salmon and he raved about it. We each had the classic old fashioned with the restaurant's signature bourbon and we shared an exquisite peach and bourbon bread pudding for dessert which was surprisingly light, but a large enough portion for us to take some home in a to-go box. The vibe is beautiful. The owner Hali stopped by to chat with us and the host, John, was a pure delight. Relaxing evening, great ambiance and service and delicious food. If it's a beautiful day, I'd definitely recommend sitting outside instead. Still, the inside has a cozy, laid-back feel that works well. Shoutout to Qua, who was both the hostess and our server. She was welcoming, attentive, and handled everything smoothly, even as a few more parties came in while she was the only one serving at the time. One thing I really appreciated was that she let us know upfront what items were out of stock before we even looked at the menu. That level of transparency is huge and makes the experience so much better. My son ordered a slider with fries from the kids' menu. It comes with just one slider, so I ordered a second, definitely the right call. He enjoyed it, and the fries were cooked well, just a little on the salty side for our taste (ketchup helped balance that out). I had the shrimp tacos. It's packed and perfect portion for lunch. The shrimp, pineapple slaw, and chipotle mayo was a nice mix. The restaurant was clean (including the bathrooms). The location is also a plus, super close to the Art Museum, which makes it a great stop before or after visiting. Overall enjoyable, and I'd come back, especially to try more of the menu and the drinks.

I substituted the coleslaw for broccoli, and it was the perfect choice. The trout was flavorful, perfectly cooked, and one of my favorite dishes on the menu. We also had the dream team behind the bar: Chris, Shaq, and Gabby! They made the entire experience even better with their friendly personalities, outstanding service, and attention to detail. They were engaging, fun, and made us feel like valued guests from the moment we sat down. They truly elevated our evening. The only disappointment was the change in the Malbec selection. We were longtime fans of The Seeker, and the new Alta Vista simply doesn't compare. In our opinion, it lacks the smooth, rich flavor that made The Seeker such a great pairing with the meal. We definitely don't think it's an improvement and would love to see J. Alexander's bring The Seeker back. Great food, outstanding bartenders, and another wonderful dining experience. We're just hoping our favorite Seeker Malbec makes a return!
