Had a fantastic experience at First Watch in San Marcos! Our server, Renata, was absolutely wonderful !! So nice, friendly, and personable. She really went out of her way to make sure we were taken care of the whole time. She kept us updated on everything, brought our drinks out quickly, and checked in often without being overbearing. We've given this place a few tries, but we may not come here for a while after our last visit. Came with some friends that were in town and ordered their new advertised crunch tacos and they didn't come as pictured. I'm guessing they were out of some of the ingredients to build them but that was something that could've been told by the server. I asked her if I had ordered the right ones to double check and that's when she said they were out of the taco shells... my friends plate then comes out with the taco shells they were "out of". Wow, what a great addition to the lackluster breakfast scene in San Marcos, the food at First Watch, impeccable. The BLT Benedict was fantastic along with the million dollar potatoes. The overall vibe of the restaurant itself also seemed at an upper echelon. However, the service? Lackluster at best, rarely helped, did not get the bill explained to us at all (you have to pay at the front), and our waiter didn't offer any to go boxes, refill on our water, or asked if we needed anything else. If you're thinking of going here I suggest to order to go rather than dining in. read more

The service and atmosphere was nice but the food was disappointing. We ordered 3 kids chocolate chip pancakes they claimed to be humungous and they were average. Kids were still hungry. I got the blt benedict. Maybe I was expecting too much but the English muffin was a small basic English muffin, the poached eggs were dry and the hollandaise sauce tasted like the kind from the packet. I question if their quality is as good as they say. The "greens" on the side was a mixed green salad type of thing with nothing else. I thought it was going to be micro greens or something a little better. The bacon was cheap bacon. Hardly any chocolate chips in the chocolate chip pancake we got to try that was $7. We have been to the one in Orlando and were pleasantly surprised to find this one exceeded even that one! And we really liked the food and service in Orlando. We loved the clean roomy feel as soon as you walk in and my wife and I were greeted by friendly wait staff upon entering and already set the tone for a wonderful dining experience. Ashley took care of us and has several times after. She is super friendly and just great at what she does. Always checks in to make certain we have everything we need, water, more coffee, cream sugar.. the food is very very good and fast! The coffee is always super hot and fresh. We got the custard french toast and the WORKS omelet and can't forget the million dollar bacon! So delicious. Overall a very enjoyable breakfast and the service keeps us coming back! Food was delicious. I had the chorizo omelette and it was delicious. The greens and the pico were such an amazing combo. The Bloody Mary was very heavy on the Worcestershire sauce. Potatoes were a bit salty but good. Our server, Connor, is phenomenal! 5 Stars for him. Now onto the cooks and a few servers...... Our food came in one by one and took a span of 10-15 min for our food to arrive from the 1st plate that arrived. I would have loved to enjoy my omelette when it first arrived. Yes, it's my fault I didn't eat my food right away, but yall need to ensure that all the party's food arrive at the same time. It's rude to bring a plate for one person and the others have to wait. The female servers (the blondes I have noticed) they need to stop touching their hair. And then handling our food??? They were a few servers that were on top of their game. The girl with the caramel highlight extension was on top of it! Connor and her were our favorites. The rest of the team were very lackadaisical; walking with no purpose. We called the GM over for thanking him taking care of our sandwich that came to our table severely late. We appreciate you taking care of our sandwich, however we don't appreciate you verbally annihilating your cooks. That needs to stay at the BOH. We don't need to hear that. I'm glad you know where to improv, but slandering them is not okay. Yeah the cooks need to do better, our whole stay there lasted a little over an hour because we were waiting on the food. This score is mostly for the cooks. However, this is a brand new establishment, I want wait to come back and see their improvements! I really love your omelette.
