Visited this spot after seeking countless good reviews about the quality, service, and consistency. Before exploring for the day, I needed a little pick me up. While waiting in line, I could see everyone walking away with their drinks and smiling. Taking pictures and exchanging words with the staff. The staff seemed very friendly, energetic, and positive from my observations during the whole visit. It was really hard for me to choose which flavor to add to my matcha, but I ended up with Ube since I was looking for a creamy drink. I request half sweet and it was just divine. Although I originally ordered coconut milk to help balance the thickness/creaminess of the Ube, they had run out. They checked in with me about what alternative milk choice I'd like to proceed with so I decided on oat. They really got it down to a science because I was able to taste both the matcha and Ube separately. Not one was overpowering the other. Although the line was long, it went by fast :)
Whenever I'm home on Maui, I love checking out a new coffee or matcha spot so I decided to try First Wave Coffee, a small food trailer located in the Lowe's parking lot in Kahului. First off, these guys are a vibe. Super friendly, welcoming, and happy to answer any questions we had. Since anything banana gets me every time, I ordered the Banana Macnut Matcha which they told me is their most popular drink. The drinks came out quick, and the matcha was perfect! Great matcha taste with a hint of banana and a little nuttiness that balanced everything out really well. The only thing I didn't see was a cold foam option, which would've taken it to the next level for me. But overall, definitely worth stopping by. If you're local or visiting Maui, check them out in Kahului!
Been wanting to try this spot for a really long time & finally made it. Located on the garden side of Lowes close to target. Recently on social media they've been popping off for their many matcha combos. So therefore I went for the lilikoi matcha. A really unique combo of flavors. Surprisingly well balanced & one didnt overpower the other. Really yummy. Customer service was amazing. Very warm & welcoming. I didnt really care how they spelled my name, but he wanted to spell it correctly. Go support those guys, they're putting out some good drinks over there.
I cant believe it took me this long to try this place! This little spot in Lowes parking lot is the baddest, best coffee stand. Period! Parking - no problem. Accessibility - no problem. Chickens - cant guarantee they wont follow you. Ha! I got the banana nut matcha and my friend got the ube matcha. Both of us give 9/10. So refreshing for a Maui day. So rich in matcha taste. (in a good way) The staff is so friendly and the service is quick. I feel I need to go back for the other flavors. Go and then go again.
I stopped by here earlier today by myself for my morning coffee. Whenever I go on vacation I try to hit up a new coffee shop every morning and on this morning I ended up heading over to First Wave Coffee. This coffee stand is located in the Lowe's parking lot and when I got there it had a line about 10 people deep. There isn't too much to say about the trailer itself other than it was grey with some wooden decorations wrapped around it, with the top part designed to look like waves. There were two guys working inside and they were cranking out coffees, but the line still moved slowly, taking about 25 minutes from getting in line to getting my drink. They also seemed to know at least half the people waiting and were super friendly with everyone else. For my coffee on this morning I decided to go with a hot 20 oz Hapa, which was coconut and honey. My coffee here was good as I could taste the coconut first and then some sweetness from the honey. The coffee itself was definitely the star as it tasted freshly roasted and had a strong flavor. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. While no one wants to wait 25 minutes for a cup of coffee, the quality of the drink and the friendliness of the staff made it easy to see why this place is a local favorite.
OMG so yum with the sweetest owners and I appreciate how friendly they are! If you get there early, know that they form a line before they even open but no worries, they service the line super quick! Went with a friend and we opted to try the Blackberry Vanilla and Cotton Candy matcha. Both were super tasty and I can't wait to try more! Everyone seems to leave 100x happier after they start sipping on their matcha or coffee. They offer such a simple menu but with delicious flavor combos. They have a few tables and chairs if you'd like to sit and enjoy your goodies but most seem to take it to go. My only wish to make this spot even better is to open a smidge earlier like at 7am. I know more people would hit this spot before work to make it on time, like me lol. I can only imagine how much busier it is on the weekend for those who can't make it during the week. Stop by and support this small but mighty local business!
I am a big fan of First Wave Coffee! They are a small but mighty coffee trailer located at Lowe's on the Target side of the parking lot in Kahului. Depending on deliveries and parking situation, their location can shift a bit, but they're generally in the same area and easy to find--and absolutely worth the stop. From the start, First Wave has impressed me with their consistently delicious drinks and top tier service. They proudly serve Social Hour Coffee blends, and I knew right away from the first sip that they were using the Vinyl blend--one of my absolute favorites. Their iced dark chocolate mocha was my go-to for the longest time: smooth, chocolatey, and always hit the right notes. I've also had the Hapa and Shore Break, both solid choices in their own right. More recently, they've been gaining attention for their matcha drinks and their laundry list of flavor combos. I don't typically like matcha, but their Strawberry White Chocolate Matcha piqued my interest which brought me back the other week. I was pleasantly surprised with its sweet and perfectly balanced flavors. It was delicious and the white chocolate added just the right touch! A while back, my coworkers got me the Banana Matcha, which was fun, but the strawberry combo is definitely the winner for me. While I've largely given up coffee, it's great to know there's still something I can enjoy on the menu when I'm really craving a little pick me up. They also offer a small but tasty selection of local made pastries--like cookies, muffins, and banana bread--which pair nicely with whatever you're sipping on. And finally, what truly makes them stand out is their outstanding customer service. Jansen and his brother are always kind, welcoming, and genuinely passionate about what they do. It's that personal touch that makes First Wave Coffee not just a place to grab a drink--but a place that makes you feel like family. When I first started coming here, it felt like a hidden gem--but not anymore! They've gained so many loyal fans, and now it's common to see a long line forming. I'm so happy to see them busy and thriving--they truly deserve all the success coming their way. Highly recommend stopping by for your caffeine fix!
We've been wanting to stop by here foreverrrrrrr because we've only heard good things about this place but it is always so crowded! But today we finally had a chance to stop and smell the roses (or matcha if you will!!) and got a coffee and some delicious matcha drinks to start off my husbands birthday weekend. I knew it was gonna be a good place (since there is always always a line) but the service here is seriously on another level. Beyond EXCELLENT. You will not find kinder or sweeter baristas/matcha-istas than the 2 young men running this truck. And the drinks.....SOOOO good. I am a strawberry matcha lover so I had to get that and it did not disappoint. We also tried the lilikoi matcha and the upcountry (lavender and honey) latte and those were also delicious!! They also sell banana bread and chocolate chip banana bread which is also so yummy and a great compliment to whatever drink you choose to get. Cannot recommend this place enough!!!! And even if it's crowded, it is 1000000000% worth the wait. I know I'll be stopping by again regardless of the crowd of other first wave lovers! And here's a little Pro tip: if your husband wants you to go to Lowe's with him, just go because you can get a super delicious drink from first wave as your reward (wink wink). Definitely stop here and support our locals!!!!
The line was so insanely long on Saturday afternoon. That's how you know the word has gotten out and they're GOOD. They're also so so nice and will talk to each customer. The regulars waited in this line, so we stayed. That macnut latte changed my life. That first sip will be something I'll be thinking about for a long time!

I've driven by First Wave Coffee a bunch of times and finally stopped by their truck in the Lowe's parking lot. Glad I did. The thing that stood out most was how friendly everyone was. From the moment I walked up, the staff was welcoming, patient, and happy to answer questions about the menu. You can tell they genuinely enjoy what they do. I ordered a bunch of matchas to try. The drinks was smooth, flavorful, and not overly sweet. Nothing fancy, just really good food and coffee done right. Not a lot of sitting area but that's cause it's more of an order and go type of spot. Overall, it's a great local coffee shop with good people, good coffee, and a relaxed atmosphere. I'll definitely be back. read more

This is the second time I have tried out these guys and I was not disappointed. This time I tried a banana but dirty matcha with oat milk. We also ordered a shore break which was Mac nut and white chocolate. I liked the banana nut better as a coffee. It is good as a matcha but I liked the flavor better as a coffee. I have not been had a bad drink from these. Guys yet. The service is always top notch. The guys that run the truck are friendly and engage with all the customers. I like the setup of the little coffee wagon. These guys have some of the best coffee and match drinks on the island. I highly recommend. read more
We saw this location on tiktok and had to check it out. When we got there we saw that the line to their trailer was long. (A good sign) it moved pretty quick though. We got a few drinks to try, lilikoi, banana mac, and guava. HANDS DOWN ONE OF THEEE BEST BANANA FLAVORED MATACH I'VE HAD. We learned that its family owned and it's two brothers. Definitely a delicious go to spot for a fun Strawberry Matcha. Although it might have tasted a bit too amazing. Because once I had one taste I craved another & another. Until shortly after it was gone, so it didn't last long. However I highly recommend & at least I'll know what to expect for my next matcha run. Nothing but pure happiness in a cup. Until next time. We've tried more matcha flavors, most recent the blackberry vanilla and the banana macnut. So far, every one is really good. It just depends on what mood you're in! However, our hands down favorite is the banana macnut. The line gets long but moves quickly. It's great to see these guys doing well as they are SO nice! The coffee trailer is impressive! To begin with, the service is stellar. Although they stay busy they are attentive and kind to all their customers. All the drinks were top tier! The Lilikoi and Guava matcha is mouthwatering and a must try. I ordered a latte with macnut and banana, this combo is PERFECT! The setting is in a Lowe's parking lot in small little trailer so don't expect any seating. Definitely a grab and go spot. Overall, 10/10!!! read more
I kept seeing this coffee shop all over TikTok and knew I had to check it out while I was on this side of the island. I went straight for their lilikoi matcha and WOW it blew me away. Perfectly sweet, super smooth (no weird clumps of powder at the bottom), and so good I finished it way too fast. Now I can't stop daydreaming about going back to try more flavors! read more

I come here every weekend! The boys never fail to greet every customer with a smile and they're so friendly. First Wave has the best matcha I've tasted on Maui. My go to is the strawberry matcha w/ soy milk however they have a lot more syrup options which you can mix syrups as well. They not only sell matcha, but coffee and chai as well (their chai is the best chai I've had here on the island). I've never tried their coffee but I heard the shore break is a best seller. They always have a long line for a reason, the wait is worth it! It's great that they have different sizes of cups as compared to other places, sometimes you're only limited to one size. They are a faith, God driven local business and always remember their customers. They truly deserve their own store! read more

This is my go to place for takeout coffee. I brought my daughter here a couple weeks ago, and she was back three times. She loves the matcha. Prices are comparable or lower than Starbucks. The coffee, matcha, and service are top notch. It's a good place to pick up coffee to start off your day. On weekdays,it is less crowded. On weekends,the line can get 20 or 30 deep. However, the friendliness, service, and drinks are consistently five stars. There is plenty of parking as the coffee truck is located in the Lowe's parking lot. read more

Matchas and coffees are so delicious! Always feeling welcomed by the staff. Usually long wait, but worth the wait! Need to try more matcha flavors but sticking with my favorite, which is a Lilikoi Mango matcha. Definitely go and stop by when you're not in a rush. Will be back many more times! read more

So we never even considered coming here because we never go to Lowe's. However, we do go 808 Plates frequently but never during morning or day during "coffee time". However, our friends were visiting and told us this place trumps our (previously) favorite coffee truck. Yup. Spoiler alert, this coffee definitely dethroned our usual fave after only one visit. My wife ordered the "Shore Break" coffee with Macnut + White chocolate. I am a black coffee drinker but it was tasty. Perfect balance of nutty sweetness with hint of savory and no bitterness. Very full flavored cup of coffee that'll get you going. We will definitely be back to try the other drinks. The staff look like father and son duo but I could be wrong. You won't be disappointed!! This coffee truck is right up your alley when you run errands at Lowe's, Target, or anywhere in Kahului. Super convenient and staff will prepare your perfect brew. Stop by for an iced coffee or a steaming latte. All their coffee drinks are made to order so you will love the taste and varieties of flavors you can add! They also have fresh pastries delivered daily from the muffin man. Don't forget to tip these great minds as they fix the perfect beverage just for you.
