It's time for my restaurant update of First Wok. I was here on a Friday evening with a group of 16. Well, guess what First Wok continues to be one of my favorite Chinese places in the area and my friends all agreed!! The food just never disappoints. Every single person in my party, loved the food. Not a single complaint! That's hard to do with 16 different discerning palettes. I've also been here for lunch countless number of times. The lunch specials come with your choice of soup and rice as well as a pot of Chinese tea. First Wok has always delivered tasty and flavorful dish. The food presentation was great and we enjoyed our dinner. First Wok will remain my local go to spot for a Chinese food whether it's a quick lunch, dinner to take out.

Haven't been here in a while but glad the food is still delicious and consistent. Tried the roast pork and snow peas for the first time and it did not disappoint. One of our favorites, the beef and scallions is still amazing. Will be coming here more frequently!

So excited to find this restaurant with authentic chinese dishes. The West Lake soup was delicious, I really love the cilantro flavor. The special veggie was Oong Choy (not sure what it's called in a English), also really delicious. Noodle dishes were solid. The only dish we were disappointed in was the Peking pork chop. This was not the authentic style with pork chops. This was made with prairie pieces and the sauce was too thick. However the taste was good, even though not totally authentic. Look forward to coming back to try other dishes.

    Chicken and broccoli lunch special

The chicken with broccoli lunch special should be a crime. It is boiled chicken with boiled broccoli and is so flavorless that it is inedible. I've never ordered chicken with broccoli before and NOT be given any sort of sauce. I thought that it was standard to put brown sauce on it to give it any form of flavor but I guess not. I also wasn't asked upon ordering if I wanted sauce, since it is apparently not standard. It was honestly some of the worst food that I've ever tried in years. Threw it all out.

First Wok is currently one of a select few Chinese places that are still open. I ordered egg drop soup, General Tso Tofu, beef Chow Fun, and Szechuan-style double fried pork for pickup last night. It was done pretty quickly, and a great meal. I will say the General Tso Tofu got soggy really quickly, so maybe plan accordingly when ordering that for takeout. Five Stars for their resilience and I hope the best for them despite the outbreak. Also because the waitress called me a stylish lady Thanks for a great meal, First Wok!

I highly recommend First Wok, we travelled for 30 mins just to have their food. We always come back because of their excellent service, good atmosphere and staffs are very friendly. The food are excellent , we like fish so we usually order the steamed flounder with ginger and scallions yummy in our tummy , steamed fillet of sole, scallions pancakes shrimp with honey walnuts , vegetable lo mien, chicken Mai Fun and oh wow try their hot and sour soup , the taste and flavor is so good that i can have a big bowl. Sonya Ma who's the owner of the restaurant is very down to earth person. She greets her customers with enthusiasm and with a beautiful smile. The ambience is so inviting that you want to come at her restaurant for lunch and dinner for 7 days. Book your next party at First Wok , you won't regret it.

Good decorations and plenty of seating available at all times. With free noodles and sauce so you can eat up as much as you'd like when you're waiting for your meal. And the service was always good all the times we went in the past. While I don't live in New Jersey anymore, I still had plenty of good memories eating here from all the years I did live there. And when I do return, I plan to go there again for either lunch or dinner. Going for lunch is a better option though since then the lunch options are available and tends to be cheaper as well.

Pretty dark inside but have such an old school Chinese restaurant. - Food: I ordered take out for lunch special Hunan Chicken with Pork Fried Rice, Wonton Soup, complimentary spring roll, and an order of Crab Rangoon. The lunch portion of rice and chicken is not too big but enough for me personally, it also comes with soup so could definitely make you full. I love crab rangoon and want to try it everywhere. There're 8 pieces per order, they should have fried the crab rangoon a bit more since the bottom is still chewy. Wish there's more filling inside too. Definitely will be back and try other selections too!

We only had to wait 15 minutes for a table. Comfy benches are around the corner to the left. Ricardo greeted and helped serve us. He was especially gracious with my 90 year old aunt. Her safety and enjoyment were my top priorities! We enjoyed our unhurried meals, asking that each dish come out when it's ready so we could all share. Full and happily satisfied, we resumed our road trip! Life is good with north western Chinese cuisine!

Pass. This might satisfy a homesick student because there's nothing better, but we can do much better at home or at Flushing. The best dish was the chopped cabbage dish - that was closest. Lamb skewers were too thick and not seasoned enough. Monstrous plate chicken - good thing we had two, because they weren't all that big for 6 of us, and no spicy adjustment allowed (couldn't do not spicy, but ended up eating it.. and it wasn't spicy). Beef w/tomatoes was better - potatoes felt like they were deep fried and thrown in, not at all taking in any of the sauce. Big groups could have a hard time finding seating - this gets busy and their tables are really designed for 2-4. Staff was also mostly non-Mandarin speaking students that hung around and talked amongst themselves instead of checking on our experience, refilling water, or getting the check until we flagged them down.

Where do I start?…read more On Friday we stopped in for lunch around 12:30. We were greeted nicely and bought waters with lemon as we asked. I ordered won ton soup, shrimp with vegetables and fried rice. My gluten free friend brought a new bottle of gf soy sauce. She ordered rice noodles with vegetables and added tofu. She chose not to have soup and asked for her won ton to be packed to go. The waiter whose English wasn't so good very nicely took the bottle with him to the kitchen so her food would be prepared with it. I noted the fork at my place was not clean and moved it aside. Next he brings me a soup plate with broth and 2 big doughy won ton. Neither the broth not the won ton were more than tepid. The won ton was not to my liking. I took one bite and pushed my bowl aside. Next the entrees neither were more than barely warm! My shrimp were a bit smaller than quarter sized, broccoli was nice and the rice too, but the sauce had absolutely no flavor. No flavor and cold. The rice noodle dish was fine but flavorless and lacked the vegetables she ordered. Usually she would tell the server that she can have garlic and ginger, but she didn't. And the food was not hot at all. The place was busy with just the one waiter. He very nicely brought the won ton soup to go for her when he brought the check. He also wrapped all the leftovers to go. We did not complain because everything deserved a complaint. We had also lost interest. This experience did not get only 1 star, because of the waiter who was the only one in the busy restaurant. He was doing his best, but the kitchen needs to do its best. We tipped him nicely, and deposited the take home won ton in the trash can down the sidewalk away from the restaurant.

Good food but service could be better. The loudness of people talking was somewhat bothersome.read more
