I go to Firudo quite often and as long as you know what to expect, you won't be disappointed. The main draw of Firudo is the "all you can eat" sushi for 26.95 (plus an added fee if paying by card). I gotta say, it's one of the best deals in the 315. Does Firudo serve the best sushi I've ever had? No, not even close but it's definitely good enough for the price you're paying. The AYCE also comes with a couple caveats. You're limited to 10 pieces of sashimi and 10 pieces of sushi- you can get as many maki/hand rolls as you'd like. So keep that in mind. I've never had a wait at Firudo and the staff is attentive. It's very clearly a family run business, which I appreciate. As long as you don't go expecting Jiro dreams of sushi, I think you'll have a great meal. read more

January 2024 I had my fifth visit to Firudo. My fiancé and I continue to go back because they offer all you can eat appetizers, hibachi plates, and sushi for $26.95 (cash price/card has a fee). I feel like the place is never terrible, but also never amazing. The water tastes a bit chemically (like water with a bit of the cleaner in it) and the soda also never tastes great. I would say to go when you're not in a rush cause the service is also hit or miss. The last time they barely checked in on the table for refills or if we wanted to order more. I will say, I get the Syracuse roll and the Salmon Lover roll almost every time and they're always decent for me. The fried rice has always been fine too. My fiancé always gets the chicken katsu and enjoys it. If you go in with low expectations, then it will probably be better than expected! read more

Food was good, however we will not be returning due to them breaking General Business Law §518: NY LAW RELATED TO CREDIT AND DEBIT CARD SURCHARGES: "Businesses are not allowed to advertise a price and add a surcharge at the point of sale when a consumer elects to pay with a credit card. Instead, businesses are required to inform consumers of the higher credit card price for a product or service by posting the higher price" (which they did not do). The advertised price was $26.95 - with no fine print indicating that was the cash price. When it came time to pay the bill, we were told it's a 4% charge to use a credit card. That is illegal. We decided to try the all-you-can-eat-sushi, which we naively thought would be a buffet - it's not. ok, that's ok - It's a menu they give you with a warning that any food waste will be an additional charge at $10/pound (unusual). Ok, so we were careful to order what we thought we could finish. The food was not very good. Poor quality. The sushi was below average grocery store level sushi (but not as good as Wegmans) just any regular grocery store level. We wanted to try more items hoping to find something we enjoyed, but because we had items on our plate we had not eaten, we knew we couldn't order more, out of concern for being questioned about waste. The irony is we didn't eat them, not because we were full, but because they tasted awful. $27 each person plus $3 each for a soda....way too much to pay for what we got. We won't return. My husband and I went to Firudo WAY before covid and we had a pretty good experience. I'm only now coming back to review them. At the time we were able to sit down and have all you can eat. Sushi!! That is what this post is about. We attempted to start our night at Sushi House, but in true form the actual business hours were not accurate and it was closed at 6:30pm on a Friday night. Fast forward to 7pm, we went to Firudo Asian Food on Erie Blvd. I will start by saying the food was not bad, the sushi was good. The service though, it was weird at best. The drink and food orders came back within a decent amount of time, a few times we had to ask twice, and there were unnecessary extensive waits. Towards the end of our experience, it almost felt like we were being kicked out. It was super awkward, and we were trying to finish our drinks, but they were literally rushing us out the door. The waitress was actually sort of rude to my fiance, asking him, "why are you still here?" At that point, we felt very unwelcomed, even though we paid and left a generous tip. I looked around as we were leaving, and I noticed there were other people allowed to stay. Us and another group were being forced out while other people of Asian descent, who did not work there, were not being forced to leave. I love that you can make reservations online through Yelp or order delivery through GrubHub for this restaurant. I tried two specialty rolls: shrimp tempura roll for $8.99 (shrimp tempura, cucumber, avocado and lettuce topped with masago and eel sauce) & the fusion roll for $12.99 (spicy crunchy tuna, eel, avocado, topped with fried salmon, scallion, masago, eel sauce and spicy mayo). Outside of sushi, they have hibachi, katsu, tempura, fried rice, noodles and soups. I cannot comment on the interior or atmosphere of the restaurant because I ate take-out. I didn't know about their 1/2 off sushi deals for Monday/Thursday until after I had already ordered my sushi on a Tuesday (missed opportunities most definitely). The chicken tempura plate is a great deal (also in the photos), which doesn't capture how large the portion is. There's about 4-5 chicken tempura strips and tempura vegetables underneath. I will start this as I always do by saying that I don't give out five stars unless I am really blown away. I have eaten here in multiple occasions. I do like the food for the most part but I come back because of the $24.99 all you can eat. It isn't just on sushi or on rolls but also soup, salad, appetizers, udon, tempura and other items. I would rate it higher but the rolls are not top notch and the wasabi never seems strong enough. That atmosphere is good and it always seems clean. The staff has always been on top of things. They come back and check on you often and refill water when ever needed. It is the perfect spot if you like all you can eat Japanese food. The appetizers I think are my favorite part. Again if they up the quality of the rolls I would up the stars. The spicy tuna is almost like a paste and I am not a fan. They put it on a lot of the all you can eat rolls and then deep fry them. Been here about 3 times in 2 weeks. We did visit their first location once a while back. This new location's space is a lot more welcoming. Friday-Sunday they offer all-you-can-eat for close to $22. You order off a special menu and they make it to order. You help yourself to the salads and soups. They have two types of soups, miso and clear I believe. Salad with ginger dressing, seaweed salad, and kani salad (I think this is imitation crab salad). Sushi, Sashimi, sushi rolls are included. For sashimi it says 10 pieces per person, as does the individual sushi pieces. The rolls don't appear to have a limit. They have a fair selection with some raw choices, as well as all cooked choices. You can also order hot food like fried dumplings, udon soup, tempura, yaki udon (stir-fried noodle dish), lo mein, etc. Many, many choices! I love their yaki udon and sushi. Service was pretty good. They have messed up a couple times, for example, I ordered a hand roll and it came out as a regular roll. They have a regular menu also, but I have opted for the all-you-can-eat. I have a hard time narrowing my choice to one, and this is a good way to try a little bit of this and a little bit of that. This is a pretty good deal if you're feeling like sushi! Sakana Ya, which I like, on Wednesdays is $25 per person. The price for our 5 and 7 year olds were $8 each. Definitely not bad when they could have a variety of foods. For $25, you get two appetizers, 5 pieces of sushi or sashimi, and 4 rolls (there are both traditional and specialty choices!).... a pretty good deal! I went here tonight to try out the half price sushi. I got a volcano roll and Godzilla roll. Both were deep fried. My husband got 2 rolls one with eel one with snow crab. They were ok. They were lacking the fresh fish taste. I saw a bunch of other sushi orders go out that were not on the half price menu and they looked fresher and of more substance. This is a family owned restaurant and the whole family from 3 year old boy to grandmother helped out. They were very friendly and worked well as a team.
