Water spinach with fermented bean curd
    Christine C.

Authentic Szechuan (if you love flavorful spicy foods, come here!), huge portions. This is my go to Chinese restaurant since it is so close to most of the schools in the area (5-10 minute walking distance) and one that I recommend to friends who want restaurant recommendations. Placed an order online via their website, then went in person for pickup. 1. Water spinach w. fermented bean curd: One of my favorite dishes I usually have back home. Flavor was amazing, but the water spinach was a little tough & not the freshest. Cannot blame Jiang Hu though, because water spinach is literally IMPOSSIBLE to find upstate and it was likely imported from the downstate area. 2. Xinjiang Dapan Chicken: My favorite!! Came in a HUGE aluminum foil take out container; could have easily fed 4-5 people. My roommate & I had this over the course of 3 days. The flavor of the soup is out of this world - spicy, savory, and fills you up. Perfect for a cold, rainy, or snowy day. The soup came with a large portion owide knife-cut noodles, which was cooked al dente and soaked up all the delicious soup. I would 100% recommend ordering this dish if you come here.

05.14.2023 @5:45pm, table for 6. Quite day. Seated once walk in. Literally everything we want orders was out of stock due to the place is closing for the seasons and today was the last day opening. One server and she was able to handle our table in a courtesy speed as there were only one other table that was there already eating. Food wise to me is not authentic as a Taiwanese dishes.

    Beef and shrimp lo mein.

By far the best noodles I've consumed. These Lo Mein Noodles were cooked to order. The flavor was savory and well balanced and the noodles were cooked perfectly, not bloated or salty. This is definitely a hidden gem. Thought that I'd save some for tomorrow but I inhaled it. I'm thinking of ordering it again and taking it home. Sooooooooo yummy!

Dawn Light Restaurant - Milk tea

Dawn Light is an incredible gem. After much online search, my husband discovered this Burmese-run…read morerestaurant through its Facebook page and took the family there for lunch. What a treat! This was one of the best meals I've ever had in Utica. Although the menu is pan-Asian, with Indian, Chinese, Korean, Thai, and Burmese cuisine featured, we ordered five Burmese items: the tea leaf salad, coconut noodle, fish noodle soup, Burmese milk tea, and a coconut milk-based sticky rice dessert. Everything was terrific and authentic. The tea leaf salad was actually quite spicy, but wonderfully pungent and intense yet textured with the crunchy peanuts. I also loved the mohinga--this, too, was a slightly spicier version than what I've had in the past. However, I loved how flavorful it was. Milder in flavor was the coconut noodle soup, which our toddlers liked more. The milk tea was sweet and strong--a great accompaniment to our savory and spicy meal. To end our meal, we got a box of five pieces of sweet coconut milk sticky rice cake, which was chewy and very yummy! The food was all made fresh to order, affordably priced, and truly delicious. The restaurant itself was spacious and clean. It seemed like it was a bit of a hangout spot for Burmese in the community. Dawn Light is an absolute highlight in the Utica restaurant scene--I wish them longevity as I hope to return many times in the future!
