I love this place and buy most of my meat from here. There is a reason butchers cost more than QFC or Costco: because their meat actually comes from reputable, local sources. After finding out some of the disgusting, appalling garbage that is in grocery store meat (all in the name of lowering the price) I vowed never to buy it again. I'm alright with having meat less often if it's higher quality and not filled with.. well, crap. Fischer meats has been very kind to me. They give me chicken necks for my dog and when I asked which farms their meat came from they were very honest about it. There are other butchers in the area with better pricing, I will agree on that (Golden Steer is one of them). I'm docking one star for the fact that other butchers in the area charge less for the same quality (no "prime cut" at costco has EVER tasted as good as ANYTHING at Fischer's, if you claim this you clearly don't know your meats), they don't cary venison or other "gamey" meats, and ever since the did those groupons I have had to wait in line. The service has never, ever been slow for me except during those. Love this place. read more

This is basically an old family butcher shop in an old town that's become more and more modern. It's nice to see that some things stay the same. I've been able to ask for cuts of meat that people haven't heard of in a long time and they've been able to get them for me. I can walk in and get almost anything I need at any given time and always with a smile so often with a wait. It's worth it Holiday time order early or else unfortunately you're going to be out of luck. Anybody could still keeps a pencil behind their ear that's the kind of place I want to visit. I want to give this place 1 star for the price and 5 stars for the product, therefore 3 stars is all you get. The meat in Fischer Meats is outrageously priced, like: - $20 per pound on a ribeye... - $2.49 per pound on whole chickens No thanks!!! I'll take QFC special for $5.99 per pound. While the meat is better at Fischer Meats, it's just not enough to charge that much money. Unfortunately, i'll never return for beef. The fish on the other hand is the same price you'd pay, and looked exactly the same as what you'd get at Pike Place, except in Issaquah. Maybe the fish monger needs to talk to the butcher, so the butcher puts realistic prices on his product instead of driving business with groupons... read more

I'm a fan of this cute shop. It is located right at the heart of downtown Issaquah (super cute to check out. It isn't a big main street but really quaint and cute). The shop is very clean for a meat shop. Everything is well organized. The people working there are super helpful. They gave us plenty of recommendations of what to buy. We got their chicken kiev, which was super tasty. Butter utterly drips out of the chicken. It was rich and delicious. I really like their crab cakes. It is made out of a lot of crab chunks, not filler. I really enjoyed their bacon beef patties as well. Super cute shop. Highly recommend it. read more

I really like this shop! I've been buying pork butts there for years and have always received great product. They also provide wonderful advice on cooking. The steaks I have purchased taste better than I can get at the grocery store or Costco. And, the ground beef tastes very much like home ground. The shop is busy whenever I go in but the wait is never long. They staff very well for busy times so they get to the line quickly. Great products, quick service and nice folks. Two of the employees took their time to share more about the business, walk me through the product selections, and explained the best way to cook my purchase. I walked out with 2 huge parmesan and marinara stuffed chicken breasts, for half the price of my recent purchase at whole foods for a similar product. I visited Fischer meats 5 years ago and wasn't very impressed. The prizes were high, service was not-so-great, and it just didn't impress me so much. Since then, I've moved to Redmond, and decided to give them another try. I based my decision heavily on Yelp!! I was grabbing a bunch of meat to take along on a vacation to a cabin on the beach. I was tasked with the job of choosing a pork loin for a friend to grill. The guy behind the counter, albeit a dopey kind of fellow, helped me tremendously. He grabbed a full loin, bones and all, and was willing to trim it down to just the cut I wanted. He did an excellent trim job and then tied it up as well. The price was very reasonable and the quality of the pork was exceptional! Their sausages are really good too. I've been a DD meats fan for their brats for quite some time, however I see we have a new competitor for the throne! We'll be back Fischer meats, that's a promise! read more

The community is so blessed to have this long-time gem of a local business here in Issaquah. My wife and I were fortunate enough to locate Fischer Meats not long after we moved to town about 12 years ago. Personally, I am a fan of a one stop grocery trip, but these days, we will not purchase our meat elsewhere. It is well worth the trip down Front Street to make the extra stop, even in Issaquah rush hour! This weekend was an extra treat. My wife wanted to prepare something special for Father's Day, and after getting an excellent recommendation from the manager Josh, she surprised me with two premium T-Bone steaks which I had the honor of putting on the grill. Additionally, she was also able to pick up some treats for our four-legged daughter dogs, a bag of cut pipe bones which I also grilled for them. Needless to say, all of us had a wonderful weekend! Been ordering meats from here through Amazon Fresh for a couple months now. Had an order of ground beef come on Sunday and made a dish Tuesday (before expiration date, I am very vigilant about those things!) Tuesday night my brother (2yrs) and I became very ill with food poisoning from 11p until 5a. Stepfather was ill all afternoon yesterday Wednesday and now today (Thursday) my mother this morning. I can't speak to the meat, but I can speak to how meat were handled. Like the previous Yelper noted an year ago, I saw one of the service person not wearing any gloves when handling meat, and worse was that these people who handled raw meat handled payments as well. If you don't care about hygiene, this place may be fine for you. But I have issue when someone just handled raw meat with bare hands, took my credit card, processed the payment, and handed the card back to me. Seriously, I'd throw that card away. After watching how the other customers were serviced here, I walked out of the door. Suggestions for this business: 1. Go check out how meat are handled in Whole Foods. 2. The good: wide variety of quality meats. Assuming this is the #1 factor in a butcher, they nail it. The bad: it's not the #1 factor for me. Every year or 2 I forget that I've been disappointed in how I was treated every single prior visit and decide to try again (I really want a local butcher I love!). And each time I'm reminded why I rarely go. Their counter folks treat you like you're an inconvenience to them. If you ask them for something not already prepped in the case, it's a series of grunts until something close to what I asked for is wrapped. Pay no attention to a wrapped package of chicken and it falls on the floor? No problem just pick it up and bag it. Order some jerky and then accept a sample? Count on the guy to forget to actually get the jerky you ordered after he samples some for himself. It's all just a bit on-the-nose as a poor rendition of Seinfeld's Soup Nazi. I can't imagine feeling so desperate for their meats to pay above local grocer prices for a mediocre experience (and some decent meats). read more

Today they had two men one woman behind the counter and three patrons. When it was my daughter and my turn to be waited on both men became scarce giving us eye contact but ignoring us. The female customer service person was busy finishing helping another patron. It seemed clear the female employee was looking at them as if to signal for help . Neither male employee helped. So when she was done she helped us, we were purchasing turkey jerky at 30$/lb. Not an insignificant purchase. As soon as we we're helped the bald man quickly approached the case and a male patron apologized to the man for his wait( there was none) THEN the male employee says to the male patron... I'm sick of dealing with chicks you know?.... My daughter and I both heard and felt his disrespect and left immediately. My father and mother shopped all their lives. Similarly, I have too. If I could put a negative Humber I would. We hired them to cut our deer. A very large mule deer (205 pound hanging without head, internal organs, skin and lower legs) killed with a neck shot. In the past we have had our deer cut in Yakima but their butcher retired. Fischer's ground 70% into hamburger when a deer this size (according to another deer butcher) should have only had 40 pounds ground deer we ended up with 90 pounds. Apparently they hire anyone available to process game and they ground it all. Any moron could do that. I am so mad I am going to file a lawsuit. I have talked with other butchers and they agree this is outrageous. Any moron can throw meat into a hopper. And that is exactly what they did. Additionally, according to their own estimates of waste we are shy approximately 14 pounds. Cut your own. They charged us $328.00 to destroy our deer steaks and roasts- which is a travesty. They didn't even bother to save stew meat. What the hell. If I don't get a response I will sue. read more

We decided to try the sausages and they were extremely salty. We tried 3 different kinds, the Chorizo was to salty to eat at all, but that might be traditional. The Pork & Potato sausage was to salty for what we like, but one of could eat it. The Lamb & Pork sausage was good. Still more salty than ideal. As the only butcher in Issaquah, they really don't need to try, & they know it. Take note, butchers of the world, these surly jerks need some competition. Attitude aside, my issue is with the quality & selection. Nothing is organic in the shop. When asked about why they don't carry organic whole chickens, for example, the butcher told me that "natural" is exactly the same thing. Anyone can market something as "natural," whereas organic is an actual certification. In other words, natural is subjective, just like yummy or delicious. It's bs sales jargon. Nothing is rated "prime" in Fischer meats, it's all choice or below. Again, prime is a certified designation, and the good ol' boys at Fischer tell me it's impossible to find nowadays. Wonder why they have it at Costco, Uwajimaya, Select Gourmet, etc. Their meager pork selection is a joke, where's the lamb, no duck??, how about rabbit, goat, venison, buffalo, elk, or anything else besides basically CAFO (concentrated animal feeding organization), poorly-raised Iowa beef? For the time being, I'll hit up PCC for the healthy, lean, local (& sometimes organic) stuff, Uwajimaya for their perfectly-marbled wagyu, Don & Joe's in Pike Place for foie gras & duck, Rainshadow for rabbit (tho the prices kill me), and Costco for prime steaks. Located these guys as a result of Groupon. What can I say, Casa De Vader is unapologetically down with the carnivorous lifestyle. Even my plants eat meat. Don't approve? That's fine - come on by and let me know...my plants need more food. But I digress. So it turns out Issaquah has a cutesy little Mayberry type shopping street hidden away from 90. Did not know that. Amongst the shoppes on that street is this butcher shoppe. I'm not sure if they raised their prices as a result of the Groupon or if they've always been this expensive, but if you plan on buying more than a hot dog at this place, make sure to check your credit reserves to ensure you can pay their abnormally high rates. NY Strip at 19 a pound, ground beef pushing 6, cowboy ribeyes over 20, and the seafood was more expensive than even the fish throwers downtown. The meat looked to be of high quality, but the seafood kind of gave off the impression of being the "day old" stuff that didn't get sold at Pike Place. One of my requirements for any butcher shoppe is exotic meats. Ostrich, venison, elk, bantha, minoc, tach glands....whatever. This place has none of that. When I inquired, they stated if I went out and killed something, they'd be happy to carve it up for me. Come on, man! That's messy business. Do you have any idea how expensive it is to get this suit dry cleaned? And what am I supposed to wear while I'm waiting for it to come back? A Jedi robe? Much as my, um, lightsaber, likes floating free, that's just not in the cards. My $30 Groupon ended up buying a small meatloaf, 2 burger patties, a couple of pounds of ground beef, a couple of thick cut pork chops, and some pepperoni sticks. Not quite what I imagined when I purchased the deal. They had a lot of sausage options, but how are they supposed to be able to compete with the awesomeness that is Uli's? I didn't even give those links a glance. The meatloaf was decent; even Lady Vader, who hates meatloaf, ate it. I thought the jalapeno cream cheese pepperoni sticks were outstanding. They made the Lady Vader ill. Haven't tried any of the other stuff yet. Staff was friendly, so there is that. I just don't see myself coming back due to there not being value in what they sell, as well as the lack of variety in the meats they offer. I was particularly saddened to see no venison, elk or bantha. Their products are great, but their lack of concern in following health-safety guidelines are disheartening. I've always had a good experience, but haven't been in to Fisher Meats in months. Today the disregard of their customers safety and state laws/guidelines for Covid, turned me off. Several workers either wore masks not covering their noses or down around their chin! they did put them on when I said something. Places like this make me wonder why anyone could possibly be vegetarian. My husband actually grew up in the neighborhood, but had never been here before growing up (something about how his dad was friends with another neighborhood butcher who is no longer in business). When we saw a Groupon, we decided that it was time to try it out. So Saturday of Labor Day weekend, we stopped in. You can tell this place has been around for a while (and not just because it has a banner that says so), but it is well maintained and more importantly - clean. The folks who work here are more than happy to help you with cooking tips in case you aren't sure what the "best" way to cook a certain cut of meat is. For your pescatarian friends, there's also a fish market located in the store with a good, but small selection of seafood fare. We picked up: 4 different sausages, half pound of thick cut bacon (yes, they will cut it right there for you!), pound of ground pork sausage, a NY strip (close to a pound if I had to venture a guess), and a baseball cut sirloin (easily half a pound, if not more in weight). This ran us about $35 total, Groupon discount not included. Both the steaks we got were all lean cut meats - no bones on the NY strip, and definitely no fat. The sirloin was a solid 2 inches thick. I think their prices may be more expensive to one of the local grocery stores, but we've gotten a "good deal" at Safeway in the past that were just bones and fat, where quite frankly, I'm sure we paid more than we would have if we had gone to a butcher shop in the first place. We are definitely coming here again. Also - Fischer also offers "package deals" on meat. Variety of meats anywhere between 20-55 lbs for a reasonable price (somewhere between $90 - 215 depending on the size of the package). If you have friends that want to split, a big gathering coming up, or you like to have the meat on storage, definitely check it out. read more

Fischer's had a big promotion on ground beef, so there I went. Of course, the display case was screaming for me to do more, which, of course, I caved and bought in. Beside, the weekend grill spoke to me from the beyond; from the mesquite charcoal heavens. So I picked up a few "cowboy" steaks that took 30 minutes to prepare medium rare (yee hah - T-Rex bones tonight, boys!), and a few seasoned Kabobs. In a word, perfection. Better late than never. I came here with high hopes. Having just moved to the area, I was hoping to find a meat market that truly catered to the high end market. Unfortunately I think I'll have to keep looking. I visited the market on a good day. There were a few people here ordering but no real "line" so you felt like you could take your time. The meat looked good in the case and the staff were very friendly. I decided to get a flank steak and some ground beef as well as inquire about a few speciality items that I wanted to order sometime in the future - namely heirloom pork. The purchase of the meat went fine but I was sadly informed that all they carried was commodity level pork and that they were not able to find me the speciality pork that i have been able to get at meat markets in the South East and California (the two previous places I have lived). Disappointed I returned home to cook up the meat that i did purchase. The flank steak was pretty tasteless even after marinating overnight. The ground beef was fine but considering the cost of the meat I was expecting something a bit more. This is a pretty straightforward meat market that is trying to cater to the high end with their prices. Unfortunately the meat is only average. There isn't anything really wrong with it from my point of view aside from the price. For the price I am expecting a cut above what I'd find at my local supermarket. I didn't find that. I'll need to keep looking. Bottom line will I return to Fischer's Meat Market - no. I can get the same quality meat at IGA or QFC for less cost. read more

This is great honest to goodness small business operation, and every detail of the store makes you feel like you're in a unique and special establishment. The butchers here aren't going to just grab your selection and toss it at you. They're going to have a long conversation with you about what selection is best for your needs, the best way to cook it, and what you should have with it. Their jerky is to die for, and they have fantastic homemade sausages that vary by day and are always delicious. The meats are all top quality, and if you're on an organic kick like me, you'll be very happy with their wide selection of grass fed beef, free range chicken, and various game meats. They don't always have exotic meat in stock, but don't be afraid to ask the butchers what they have in the back. If they don't have something, they will try to go out of their way to get it for you.
