Such a good experience at Uzumaki. First, they have a parking garage, so it already begins with a premium experience. We were seated right away at 530pm Tuesday. Originally we were going for the set menu, but the nigiri menu had so much that we were interested in. All of them were totally worth it, so I'll put stars for those that went above and beyond and surprised me in a delightful way. Here's our selects, ranked favorite first. ***Amberjack belly - this was my personal fav. It was thick, umami on instant bite where I could taste that it was coming from the fish itself. So delicious. **Seared toro (+truffle soy) - obviously. Super tender, seared perfectly, and truffle is a perfect match for the butteryness MP was $22. Wish it was a bit thicker, cause I've had it thick at a different omakase and it was unbeatable. It would be worth the extra! ***Seared Gindara - they had sashimi of black cod! It's one of my favorites grilled and loved that I got to try it as a raw nigiri. Flavoring was perfect and having it seared was a nice touch. **Seared salmon belly (+truffle soy) - like the toro, it's buttery and goes great with the truffle pairing. It's super soft and tender. Wish it was a bit thicker on this piece too! *Special Albacore - flavoring was with olive oil. Unique and paired well!! I was lowkey sad when they took the plate away so fast bc any basic roll dipped in olive oil + ponzu tasted so much better haha. Butterfish (daily special) - super soft & tender *Spicy yellowtail hand roll - seems like their spicy rolls are popular! Loved that it had right amount of spiciness, sesame, and not too salty. Tekka salmon hand roll & Salmon & Avocado roll - my bear friend loves his salmon, they're simple and clean, and have a good amount of salmon We also had banana tofu donut with pistachio ice cream! I've always wanted to try healthier Ring baked fonuts made from tofu and I'm glad I got to try it! Soft, just enough sweet. But pistachio ice cream was too icy. Service was super kind and fast. I appreciated that she suggested great recommendations (gindara and butterfish) based on what we liked! We really appreciated that as I'm glad to have tried them.

Came here with my coworkers after work and they were able to accommodate our party of 9! It's a small cozy space and they also have a free parking lot connected to the back of this restaurant. We all got the Umazaki Plus omakase set and some beer and sake to share. The entire meal was so good and very affordable. All the fish was super fresh and they will let you know if you should add soy sauce or not. Service was amazing, hope to visit again soon!

The sushi here is really good and the staff is really friendly but it is expensive and some fishes were not hits. The yellowtail is okay. The salmon is really good. The tuna is good. Their rolls have very little rice which is good but also bad because they completely fall apart. The baked scallop roll was super disappointing. For one, the roll just collapsed. And the scallops weren't really baked. It was still half warm and half cold. There was also no flavor to it. Food comes out fast. Decent seating since even though it's a small space.

I never knew that Uzumaki was a Sushi restaurant. No one I know ever mentioned it. I've not seen any kind of advertising and I've driven past this place too many times to count. I don't even remember how the place got on my radar. But it did and here's how it went ... I parked in the covered garage. The entrance is on off Tilden. Not many spots but I drove in and pulled right into a spot. I didn't see any available as I walked in the back door (You don't have to walk around the building to the street facing entrance). Parking was free. I say this as I didn't see an attendant and there was no ticketing machine. I looked but didn't see signs. Greeted and seated immediately. Good thing too - by the time I had ordered, no empty tables and a wait. This was just after 5 on a weekday. Service was good. I want to say almost too efficient. It's like the staff follows a rule that no one walks back to the prep are empty handed. From delivering orders to clearing dishes and offering refills - the staff was like on a track and just walking around doing what they do. I can't comment on the friendliness as there wasn't much verbal interaction. Food was good too. See pics. I can say my mind wasn't blown but that I'd go back. I'd order the same exact thing. I just wish there was a Sashimi option. Maybe one day. The only thing that would deter me going back is parking. Not a lot of street parking and I don't like taking chances on residential streets where permits are required.

This is one of the best sushi spots I've ever been to, and as an LA native who used to work at Nobu Malibu, that says a lot! No reservations but worth a wait (but honestly, only ever had to wait 30-40 mins during peak dinner time on Friday once). It's a small space but it doesn't feel crammed, it's cozy and really well kept. The quality and freshness of the fish is impossible to beat. The nigiri melts in your mouth. The best part of coming to dinner here is their prefix meal options. When my boyfriend and I come together we never have to strategize what to get. I always order the Uzumaki & he gets the Uzumaki Plus prefix meals & we each get a miso soup. The ceviche sampler leaves you wanting more each time, the edamame starter is the perfect size, and with each bite of the nigiri I'm smiling and nodding my head in disbelief. You get to choose between two cut rolls with the Uzumaki prefix meals, either the crunchy shrimp or spicy tuna -- the shrimp is my favorite. We decided to try the chocolate donut with vanilla ice cream today and it did not disappoint. Now to the service -- we've never had better service. Each employee greets you with a smile, and as soon as your plate is empty or a piece of trash shows up on your table the staff immediately takes it away. I personally love eating the pickled ginger and some places can be stingy, not this place! Immediately they are bringing us more ginger, water, etc whatever it is, without us asking. It's incredible the attention to detail the staff has and they make coming back such a warm and friendly experience. The cherry on top? There's free parking in a structure attached to the building. We recommend parking in the structure over the street as sometimes there can be interesting characters outside. You know it's an amazing restaurant when you can't decide which is better, the service or the food! Go, you won't regret it!!!

Great if you like torched salmon nigiri and other delicious fish. 2nd time here and I still enjoyed the omakase here. The staples of seared salmon and tuna really lived up to memory. The charm of this omakase is that you can continue until you're full. Wish we had appetite to taste the entire menu, but we ended at about 20 pieces. Each plating round felt like opening a pack of collectible cards since it's a mystery, if you know what I mean. The servers were attentive and plates and trash were taken promptly. No reservations, street parking is free after 6pm, and they have a free parking lot turning right on Washington blvd onto Tilden ave. Casual to semi formal dining experience.

Uzumaki is a solid sushi spot in Culver City. They have parking in the back of the building. The service here is really good and efficient. The space itself is modern and traditional at the same time. The food here is good straight to the point. The fish tasted fresh so will def come back. Highly Recommend: Yellowtail Belly Salmon Belly Bluefin O Toro Spicy Tuna Cut Roll Crab Hand Roll Good But Not Great: Rainbow Cut Roll Baked Crab Cut Roll You Can Skip: Filet Mignon If you are looking for a spot in Culver City that has good sushi specifically good nigiri Uzumaki is the spot.

Uzumaki is a great sushi spot if you're looking for fresh, tender, delicious sushi. This isn't the place to go if you like a lot of filler in your sushi "rolls," but rather has a focus on sushi and sashimi. I prefer a more intimate experience with my sushi chefs and Uzumaki didn't really offer that as we were not able to sit at the bar. The service was decently attentive but then we were brought out the wrong hand roll at the end and weren't tended to until 10ish minutes after that to correct the error. Not a huge deal just something in the cons column. We ordered the highest level of chef's choice sushi pieces for reference. Uzumaki wasn't bad, just wasn't all that impressive or memorable. Will keep searching for my sushi spot on the West Side.

Amazing! Delicious! Fabulous! Now I know why there was a bit of a wait at 6pm. I thought we were beating the dinner crowd on a Friday night, but I was wrong although the wait was not that long I was surprised on how busy the restaurant was. After the first night of the seared Toro sushi with truffle soy I was sold. Everything we had was delicious from the miso cod nigiri, medai sushi, Moto special cut, crispy rice was absolutely delicious. Service was really quick and very friendly. They turn tables pretty quickly so even though there seems like a wait it's well worth it.

Just go! This is some of the freshest sushi I've experienced. Reservations aren't accepted, but there are two benches outside if you need to wait. Street parking is free after 6 PM. The decor is clean, simple and unpretentious, and the servers are very friendly and super efficient. We ordered one Uzumaki and one Uzumaki Plus for the two of us, which was the perfect amount. You can always order more if you're still hungry. I'd definitely come again.

Solid spot for sushi, I'd recommend coming a little earlier on the weekends cuz it gets busy. Uzumaki set: The nigiri was delicious but the cut rolls were a little tasteless. I'd recommend getting the crunchy shrimp rolls instead of the spicy tuna. Service was very attentive, a little too attentive maybe haha. The second you're done with a plate, they snatch it right up so make sure not to leave any crumbs or pieces left to savor. They don't seem to have a set waiter for your table and everyone is your server, but they definitely make sure you have everything you need. Small restaurant but still nice to bring for a date or just for a casual outing. I believe they have directions to parking on their website but street parking wasn't an issue for us.

Ordered the uzumaki plus set. Very good value to get to try a wide variety of fish for the price, especially in the LA area. Fish quality was top notch. I did feel they put a tad too much wasabi on the nigiri, but I still enjoyed all of it wish I ordered more. Definitely try the lychee sorbet it was really good and actually a bit creamy which I wasn't expecting. Service was attentive. Restaurant is clean and minimal.

No debate, no hesitation. Just ramen. I had tried this spot at another location before and remembered liking it, so it felt like a safe, comforting choice for a long overdue catch-up. We got there at that in-between hour... not quite lunch, not quite dinner. The kind of time where the restaurant feels like it's just exhaling. It was completely empty except for us, which honestly made everything feel a little more intimate--like the space was ours for the afternoon. We sat down and immediately slipped into conversation, picking up right where we left off after graduation. Life updates, little wins, quiet struggles... the kind of conversation that only comes easy with people who've known you for years. And in between all that, our mouths were busy. The ramen came out hot, comforting, and exactly what we needed. Rich broth, satisfying noodles--one of those meals where you don't even realize how hungry you were until you take the first bite. We kept pausing mid-sentence just to take another bite, then laughing because we couldn't decide what deserved more attention: the food or the conversation. Service was really attentive without being intrusive. They somehow knew when to check in and when to let us just exist in our little bubble. The music was soft, not overpowering, so we never had to raise our voices or repeat ourselves--something I appreciate more and more these days. We stayed longer than we probably planned, but it didn't feel rushed at all. Just two old friends, warm bowls of ramen, and a space that let us slow down for a bit. Definitely one of those simple meals that turns into a really good memory.

This was their first time to have a sushi bar type of experience and it was a very good beginner place to go. If you are just trying sushi for the first time. It was our first time here and we were excited to try it out. The server that seated us, quickly helped us to the bar area. He was very sweet and friendly, making the interaction nice and fun. We ordered with him and had chosen their 4 roll set. We were able to substitute their shrimp tempera roll out for salmon and another albacore due to a shellfish allergy. He also asked if we'd like it spicy, which I said yes to mine and not to my fiancé's. We also ordered two beers to try out. When we got our beers, we poured them into the glasses and my fiancé was worried about the sediment in his drink. We thought it was part of the beer, but when we lifted the can, it was expired. The server quickly brought the beer back to the manager, who compensated us and gave us an Ale instead. Very generous of him. Our appetizer came out first - we had gotten their spicy albacore on crispy rice. They had crispy pieces on top, and made it okay. The taste was unique. Then our rolls came out. I had albacore, salmon, and tuna for my first three and I don't think I was a fan of their "spicy"ness. The spice was little to none and the concept of "spice" was a mixture with mayonnaise. I wanted the fresh fish taste, but the mayonnaise truly masked it. The rolls were also quite greasy, yet their seaweed was crispy. My fiancé's rolls were a bit more fresh and pleasant. For our last roll, I was served a spicy albacore and my fiancé received salmon. This wasn't what we ordered, because I wanted a salmon roll to substitute the shrimp. They had mixed up our rolls, but I didn't complain. There was a lady seated next to us, and they got her order wrong, too. When I sat there to check Yelp reviews more thoroughly, it seems other patrons also generally have their orders wrong. They had quite a number of people eating there and I can see many people who like the restaurant. It's a great place if it's your first time at a Handroll bar and first time experiencing this type of restaurant. I've been to quite a few Handroll bars in a range of affordable prices, but I didn't enjoy the quality of fish here or the mistakes that were made. Although we were compensated, the mistakes added up from us and the other patrons eating there. There needs to be more care and consistency, I presume.
