Shrimp Tempura Roll, Salmon Special Roll, beef gyoza
    Amanda M.

Super fast service and pretty tasty sushi overall. We got the karrage, beef gyoza, salmon special roll, shrimp tempura roll, and a 34 oz beer (for only 4 dollars at happy hour!!!). The standout was the salmon special I would get it again. The karrage could have been warmer, but I imagine they have stuff ready to go for the happy hour rush. No wait at 8pm on a Wednesday. Would come back for happy hour. Also dog friendly on the patio which is a huge plus.

Our service was very slow to start. They also said it would take 40 mins to get any food but sushi. It did not end up being that long but it seemed they didn't want us to order anything but that. The house sake was not very good. The chicken yaki noodles were very good but I wish they had way more vegetables. Almost no vegetables in it at all. The chicken katsu was huge. Definitely a few could share. The bang bang sushi was just okay. The spicy tuna roll was better

Great happy hour deal! Chicken karaage is very good. Dog friendly with an outdoor seating area.

Went here on a date recently and had a great meal. Sushi and service was fantastic. Huge beer special during happy hour, plenty of seating indoor and outdoor, and lots of various roll options. Four stars because my spicy udon seafood noodle and spicy string beans barely had any spice - although still tasted delicious! I recommend this place but next time I will ask for extra spicy!!

MLB World Series. Game 1. Ended up here as other places were jammed packed. Sat out on the parklet. There's also indoor seating, as well as covered seating on the sidewalk patio. There was a big screen out for the parklet. So, all good. In time for Happy Hour. Sapporo Drafts. $2 Pints and $4 34 ounce mugs. I can't think of a better deal anywhere else. Some food on the HH menu. Had a few (see pics). Nothing to rave about. Ordered off the regular menu too. Nothing to rave about that as well. I'm not gonna knock the service as the place was hopping for the game. They were friendly enough even with the mood since the Dodgers lost. I'd have to make a return visit to really get a feel but I think it would be fine. Parking in the nearby structures. If you know Downtown Culver City, you'll know what I mean. On a Friday, you might get lucky and find street parking but it's so much easier to just head to the structures. Or rideshare. No rush to get back as I mentioned, as the food was just ok. I'd rather pay more for drinks with better food than almost nothing for food I won't enjoy. Only time will tell if I make it back or not. Stay tuned

Baked Salmon Roll and Spicy Miso Soup

The service was great -- I was seated right away, and my food came out quickly after ordering. Everything I tried was absolutely delicious. The baked salmon roll melted in my mouth with incredible flavor, and the spicy miso soup packed a real kick (consider yourself warned!) but was so tasty -- perfect if you love a bit of heat. The ambience was lovely. I sat inside, where there was a larger group nearby, but the atmosphere still felt relaxed and enjoyable. Great music and a really nice overall vibe.

For lunch on a Saturday, there was another sushi place I went to, but they didn't have a restroom. So I came here to Sake House, instead. They have a restroom. This place has been in Culver City, for quite awhile. Luckily, there was no wait and as luck would have it, it's also Happy Hour. So I immediately took advantage of the happy hour prices and ordered the Mini Red Rock, the Lady in Red Roll, the Salmon Avocado Roll, and the Yellowtail Jalapeno Sashimi. I also ordered nigori and edamame to go with everything. The items came fast. Everything was delicious. My favorite was the Lady in Red. The only problem I had would be finding parking. But hey, park far enough away and you burn some calories from lunch. It's a win win.

    Sushi & Sashimi Box

This place is known/amazing for lunch! The specials are unbeatable and for the price the sushi is really good! I recently came back for dinner and had a sushi and sashimi bento box. Maybe it wasn't as cheap or as much food as the lunch deal, but all that food was only $30. This place has the best prices!! Ambiance is casual with indoor and outdoor seating. Service is very fast and staff are always visible incase you need anything.

Great food, prices and atmosphere. It seems like the managers or whoever's in charge doesn't support their servers and doesn't or can't set them up to succeed. They seemed very short staffed! One server for inside AND outside (at least ten tables for each, if not more). We waited almost 30 min just to see a server. Then waited another 5+ min to get a menu. Whoever's in charge clearly doesn't know how to care about or support the customer and workers experience. With such low prices for happy hour, they should be DROWNING in customers! But if you don't set up your workers to be able to succeed, how can they make you and themselves money? $2 beers! They don't have a packed house for TWO DOLLAR BEERS!!!

I've seen Sake House and tried it out today. If you have ever been to Japan, it will disappoint you. It is mainly a roll restaurant. Cali, Dragon, and the like. Rose was my server and was very nice. I had the sushi combo for $25. A pretty good deal. Miso soup: white miso with seaweed and a couple of diced tofu - ** Mixed greens salad, good dressing - *** Beef gyoza. Fried rock hard- ** Nigiri sushi. Seemed premade and dry - *** Shrimp tempura. Excellent! - ****** For $25, a good deal.

    Jack B.

I'm a big fan of their lunch special! For $25, I got far more food than I could have asked for. The nigiri was the highlight of the show because the fish was very fresh. Service was also very attentive. Since we had so many plates at our table, they stopped by often to clear things out of the way. If you're looking for a good deal on sushi, this is your place!

Met up with a couple coworkers here recently and enjoyed our experience. There's a really good happy hour through the week. The staff was friendly enough and it didn't take long for our food/drinks to come out. Patio seating outside and tables/seating inside. They were playing catchy/fun music which added to the vibe. Looking forward to coming back and trying more food!

Even though I have dietary restrictions, I'm pretty sure there's going to be something on the menu that I could eat. Now when I got there and I saw the very brief menu, I was stunned and I was like, oh my gosh, I should've looked at the menu before I came here This looks like I'm about to be eating a bunch of raw fish. But to my surprise when I looked closely, I was able to see that there was a whole section of grilled foods and appetizers that I could eat. I ended up ordering: - the miso soup - the edamame - the cucumber salad (for appetizers) - sea bass - oyster mushrooms - shrimp - the ginkgo nuts Every single food item that I ordered was delicious. I was genuinely surprised by how flavorful everything was and I was particularly impressed with the sea bass and oyster mushrooms. These two dishes were phenomenal. I don't know how they made that sea bass so flaky and moist and just melt in your mouth but it was so good. I don't know what sauce they put on top of it but that thing was amazing. The oyster mushrooms were so good that we ordered two more orders of it. For the edamame, the only thing I didn't like was that it was served cold. I don't know if that's like a traditional way of serving it or something but I'm used to having my edamame be served warm or hot so that was unusual for me. The server was amazing, super attentive and very kind. He always made sure we had what we needed and there was even something that was mistakenly served to us but he took it off the bill and allowed my friend to eat it anyway so we were grateful for him. He was also really good at explaining the menu and the dishes that he liked. The vibe in here is social but a little classy. There were these ladies that were sitting to the left of us and one of them just randomly started talking to us and asking us if we were from the neighborhood, which was a little odd because... why are you asking me those questions??? Other than that the vibe was fine and I would definitely come back here again. One thing to note though is that the food is served kind of like tapas style so if you're expecting massive portions and to be stuffed to discomfort, this is not the place where that's going to happen.

I don't think I've ever heard anyone rave about this place (or I guess they don't pay extra to show up at the top of searches ?). Went on a weekday for lunch and there were a couple of parties already waiting outside the door before opening time. It's an unassuming, minimalist space but feels cozy inside. They had very reasonably-priced lunch sets that were surprisingly filling. Nigiri and rolls were fresh, with balanced flavors. The Uzumaki set would have been fine by itself but we ordered a couple of rolls on top and ended up a bit stuffed. The ume shiso cucumber roll was probably my least favorite item. The plum was a bit too prominent and there weren't enough savory flavors to balance out the tartness. Everything else exceeded expectations. Overall would highly recommend!

No reservations but worth a wait (but honestly, only ever had to wait 30-40 mins during peak dinner time on Friday once). It's a small space but it doesn't feel crammed, it's cozy and really well kept. The quality and freshness of the fish is impossible to beat. The nigiri melts in your mouth. The best part of coming to dinner here is their prefix meal options. When my boyfriend and I come together we never have to strategize what to get. I always order the Uzumaki & he gets the Uzumaki Plus prefix meals & we each get a miso soup. The ceviche sampler leaves you wanting more each time, the edamame starter is the perfect size, and with each bite of the nigiri I'm smiling and nodding my head in disbelief. You get to choose between two cut rolls with the Uzumaki prefix meals, either the crunchy shrimp or spicy tuna -- the shrimp is my favorite. We decided to try the chocolate donut with vanilla ice cream today and it did not disappoint. Now to the service -- we've never had better service. Each employee greets you with a smile, and as soon as your plate is empty or a piece of trash shows up on your table the staff immediately takes it away. I personally love eating the pickled ginger and some places can be stingy, not this place! Immediately they are bringing us more ginger, water, etc whatever it is, without us asking. It's incredible the attention to detail the staff has and they make coming back such a warm and friendly experience. The cherry on top? There's free parking in a structure attached to the building. We recommend parking in the structure over the street as sometimes there can be interesting characters outside. You know it's an amazing restaurant when you can't decide which is better, the service or the food! Go, you won't regret it!!!

No debate, no hesitation. Just ramen. I had tried this spot at another location before and remembered liking it, so it felt like a safe, comforting choice for a long overdue catch-up. We got there at that in-between hour... not quite lunch, not quite dinner. The kind of time where the restaurant feels like it's just exhaling. It was completely empty except for us, which honestly made everything feel a little more intimate--like the space was ours for the afternoon. We sat down and immediately slipped into conversation, picking up right where we left off after graduation. Life updates, little wins, quiet struggles... the kind of conversation that only comes easy with people who've known you for years. And in between all that, our mouths were busy. The ramen came out hot, comforting, and exactly what we needed. Rich broth, satisfying noodles--one of those meals where you don't even realize how hungry you were until you take the first bite. We kept pausing mid-sentence just to take another bite, then laughing because we couldn't decide what deserved more attention: the food or the conversation. Service was really attentive without being intrusive. They somehow knew when to check in and when to let us just exist in our little bubble. The music was soft, not overpowering, so we never had to raise our voices or repeat ourselves--something I appreciate more and more these days. We stayed longer than we probably planned, but it didn't feel rushed at all. Just two old friends, warm bowls of ramen, and a space that let us slow down for a bit.
