I've been living nearby this place for a while and finally decided to stop for dinner. My wife was the one actually craving sushi which is rare since she only orders the vegetarian ones. This place has a few options for vegetarians. I got a Niko Niko roll and a couple handrolls. Taste was fresh and the right balance of fish to rice. We also got the chicken skewers which were alright. My wife got the 3 vegetarian rolls and it turned out to be too much food for her. Serving size is on the generous side, relative to other sushi places i've been in the area. My one gripe, and small one at that, is the rolls fell apart on some bites and made it a bit messy to eat. Otherwise we had a nice dinner overall. Our server was nice and I think may have been one of the owners of the location. The place itself is small, but can accommodate a larger group if needed. Parking is very limited and you might have to park down the street. I'd come back simply on convenience and quality of food. read more

Originally opened in 2008 Niko Niko Sushi sits on the northern side of the Palms District near Mid City LA. I live a bit west of this location and I've passed it countless times over the years but this past weekend my friends and I were looking for a great local spot and Niko Niko popped up on our must visit list. A few of us who are from LA have already been here, but it was a new spot to the others in our group. As many of the reviews mentioned the service here is very friendly and everything that we ordered came out very fast. Pricing is what is to be expected for a sushi restaurant, there are definitely a lot cheaper places, but also a lot more expensive places. You will have to pay a lot more for Omakase at one of the older sushi restaurants in LA which is known as a sushi city. I think Niko Niko is a great balance between casual and premium and we all had a great experience. They have a free parking lot attached to the tiny shopping center that it's located in so parking won't really be an issue ever. For our visit we ordered a mix of items, which is common for all of our sushi visits. We started off with a series of nigiri, my favorite being albacore and sweet shrimp which they had both. Next came a few different hand rolls and we especially enjoyed the blue crab hand roll special , which was filled with delicious real crab. Lastly, we got a few different special rolls for the table and each one was a real hit. The portion size was very generous and honestly all of the items were very good. Our bill came out to be about $175 for four people without alcohol so it definitely could've been cheaper, but also could've been way more expensive, just depends on what you are used to. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a great sushi spot, especially if you're looking for a casual spot that also has premium ingredients. read more

It's owned by a wonderful couple who are there almost every day--unless Joe sneaks away for a round of golf. Tried Niko Niko Sushi for the first time on 10/2/22. I ordered the bento box with tempura and beef rib teriyaki. The hubby ordered the chirashi bowl. I thought the beef rib would be like a kalbi beef but it was more like beef cubes. It was not tender or juicy and the teriyaki marinade was bland. I thought the whole bento box was just ok. It did come with miso soup, rice and salad. It also came with 2 pcs of California roll and cucumber salad. Hubby liked the chirashi bowl. We also ordered a rainbow roll to share, which we think was pretty good. But the service was wonderful. The staff was very friendly, helpful and attentive. They are located on National and Westwood blvd. Parking available and we dined in on Friday lunchtime and there were plenty of tables available. i'm so picky about going out to eat bcuz i would rather be in the comfort of my own home and order in BUT when i do go out, i like to go to places that make me feel comfortable and also provide bussin food. Niko niko fulfills this need for me. When I responded because "I'd like to know the name of the person taking my order" she still hesitated and would not give her name instead said the business name "Niko Niko" and I asked a second time for her name she then said "the manager Stephanie" . The crab meat mixed lacked flavor. I dip in eel sauce which helped, but I might have to find a new spot if I'm just craving a CA roll. 6/10 Miso soup was lovely. Hard to mess up. Niko Niko Sushi is seemingly a casual Japanese spot in a random plaza, but it boasts good quality food, classy interior, and excellent customer service. The plaza makes it easy to find parking. I ordered 3 item: Yellowtail Collar, Caterpillar Roll, and BBQ Beef Dinner. The yellowtail collar was good, having a very light and soft taste. Ponzu sauce gave it the complimtary acidic taste. Caterpillar roll was alright. The slices of eel were a good size, however I found the volume of crab meat to be a borderline too much. The eel/unagi sauce it came with was great. Lastly was the BBQ Beef, which was definitely a surprising standout. The meat was high quality as the meat taste + slight marinade was great. Even tried dipping a little unagi sauce on it, and felt the sauce overpowered the taste of the meat. Definitely the standout. The salad that came alongside it was tangy, crunchy, and a good compliment to the meat. The miso sauce was alright. Overall, 8/10. Definitely got way too much food this time. Would definitely want to visit this place during lunch hours when stuff is cheaper, and while I definitely want to try the BBQ Beef again, may try other items like the chicken teriyaki or pork katsu. read more

My friend and I dined in at Niko Niko a few weeks ago. I was very pleasantly surprised. We went on Friday at around 6:30 and were seated immediately. They do not have outdoor seating options - only indoor. The staff members weren't the nicest but not necessarily mean. I expected the customer service to be over the top but it was just okay. They didn't seem super interested. The food, however, was delicious!! I never liked mussels until now. The baked mussels were so flavorful. I would come back just for those. Comes with 6 slice sashimi chefs choice (I got salmon and tuna), rice, salad, cucumber salad, miso soup, 2 piece California roll, and veggie/shrimp tempura. Incredible amount of food for price. Niko Niko's fish is probably some of the freshest I've seen in America and for the price you really can't beat that. The tuna holds its own against any top dollar fancy restaurant tuna that you may have had. It's so lean and tender you could probably eat it without your dentures in. The salmon is top quality which I feel is easier to find than the tuna quality. It's hard to find both in the same place though. The Blue Fin is very good too. They put a nice wasabi seasoning between the fish and rice and usually eat at least one piece as is without soy sauce. My family has been going here for 20 years now. The staff is very good at recognizing you after seeing you a couple of times in close proximity of time. The service is always top notch regardless of them knowing you, the warm welcome becomes warmer and the thank you see you soon becomes more meaningful. My wife and I enjoy coming here a lot. I know they don't recognize me from when my mother was a regular 15-20 years ago, but I still felt very welcomed as a stranger before they recognized my wife and I as semi regulars. Same ownership and management all of these years which you don't see in this industry a lot. Consistency has never changed. I'm just sad that I took the quality of their sushi for granted in my early adult years. Glad to be back. read more

The food was sub par with chewy chicken teriyaki which my husband barely touched. I had sushi which was too thick and hard to eat.
