Omg!!! This restaurant has the best fish and shrimp that I've had in a long time. Every time I've gone, the food has been prepared perfectly!!! The FishChick sauced wings are the best wings every. I think I dreamt about them lol. The service is great! The owner is so personable and kind and makes you feel like family. It's a bright and colorful restaurant that makes you feel welcomed. I'm definitely going back. Im a lifelong customer now!!

Exterior They are located in a plaza / strip mall on Hopeland Industrial. Hopeland Industrial is kinda odd, you have to turn on Florence and then turn behind the FoodMart gas station (or cut through the parking lot. It's also pretty narrow, some parts of look and feel like a single lane. I'm familiar with it because I'd been here before visiting the neighboring dog grooming place and hair salon. I'd also attempted to visit the actual restaurant before but they were closed. Interior Small but clean. No dining inside. No restrooms. Price / Value What one would expect to pay at moderately priced seafood restaurant. Definitely higher than a seafood 'dive' joint. Customer Service Owner was pretty patient with my questions and at the onset, did try accommodate my requests. However, she got annoyed with me towards the end because I didn't understand her cooking practices (more on this below). I'm on a 'weight loss journey' (sigh) and just trying to eat healthier in general after seeing so many loved ones pass away due to obesity related illnesses - so I wanted grilled fish and veggies. The owner explained that the grill had already been cut off for cleaning (their practice is apparently to shut it off 1 hour before closing time so its cool enough to clean). But she graciously offered to turn it on if I didn't mind the wait. She said it would take 30 minutes to heat, then another 20 minutes to cook the food. I said that was fine and paid for both meals so I could leave as soon as she brought the food out. Around 55 min, she brought my grilled food out to show it to me. I snapped some photos, and while she was bagging it up, she mentioned that she had literally JUST dropped the fried food. When I expressed my confusion and surprise, she got visibly frustrated / annoyed with me. I honestly thought she was going to fry the fish, hushpuppies and french fries WHILE the grilled food was cooking. Why wouldn't she? If it wasn't for the fact that she'd already dropped it, I would have had her cancel the fried platter. I have HORRIBLE night vision - and it had started to rain. I had planned to be home before dark, but this visit took 1+ hour because of her staggered cooking practices. I understand that she's busy - she mans the register, takes phone orders and cooks - and maybe working the fryers and manning the grill is too much for one person. As she mentioned, 'this is her establishment and this is how she chooses to do it.' But as a customer, I'd never want to wait this long on takeaway (even minus the time for grill heating) and I think its truly odd and impractical to cook meals separately like this - but I wish them the best. Food They no longer have the po' boy my buddy raved about. The chef / owner gave me a mini-lecture about how she took it off the menu because she changed the bread and how its important to not label a seafood sandwich a po' boy unless she's using the authentic bread. I was trying to decide between whiting and flounder. The owner said whiting isn't on the regular menu, but she just happened to have some and would throw in a complimentary piece because of the previous drive over / failed attempt to dine because they were closed unexpectedly. I wound up with the - 1) Grilled flounder with seasoned vegetables and side of lettuce and tomato instead of coleslaw (see photo after plating at home). plus add-on piece of whiting 2) Fried flounder platter with fries, slaw and hushpuppies J didn't like his flounder because he's not crazy about cornmeal breading so he gave it to his son. They forgot the hushpuppies and the slaw. I went back for the slaw but certainly wasn't gonna wait 10 more minutes for hushpuppies. Slaw was good. My seasoned veggies were really good. Cooked to the perfect consistency. Snappy, yet tender. My flounder looked great, but it it was just 'ok.' The add-on whiting was undercooked (see photo) and looked a lot like swai. I think her seafood distributor is pulling a 'fast one.' Overall Overall - I believe others will love this spot. It was more of a 2 or 3 star experience for me, but I don't believe in skewing the overall average rating of a new business / small business - and a 3 star rating will do that, so I bumped 'em up a star.

Have you tried Fish Chick yet? It's my new go-to spot for fried fish! I've had the flounder, swai, and shrimp tacos -- all absolutely 10/10. The customer service is fantastic too!

Small place it's new. Friendly folks. Literally a family establishment Like Popps may be behind the counter. You can tell the owner has decades of restaurant experience. The food is also excellent. It's a fried food place. Definitely worth checking out.

As all the reviews state the food is good - however you might get sticker shock when you go to pay.

There's booths and tables and I like that the tables aren't too close to each other. There's cute decor, just a nice vibe overall. It wasn't too busy for a Friday evening which was nice since we had our kids with us. The waiter was pleasant and checked on us occasionally, without being over bearing. We started with a trio of dips with chips- guacamole, queso, and salsa instead of the bean dip. All of them were good with the queso being so-so for me. The salsa is nice and smoky. One kid had a kids meal with two shredded beef tacos and fries. I'm glad they served the onions and cilantro on the side for him. Hubby has the queso birria plate and raved about how good it was. I enjoyed by pollo asado plate. I only wish they had a salsa bar with the pickled veggies, etc. The menu is extensive so I can't wait to try something else. Prices are a little higher than other Mexican places, but they make a lot of homemade items and you can tell the difference.

I asked could they cut the chicken small for my elderly mother. These fools flat out said no. That was beyond unfathomable! As I watched a guy cutting vegetables. I asked a guy for the manager. He had on some thick black frames. He tells me the manager isn't there. So, I ask who is in charge. He said, "I guess me". So I tell him what happened and he looked like another little kid with an awkward face like he didn't know what to do. Then he says, "well I just work here". Everyone just acted like they didn't understand or speak English. This was insane! I don't do bad service at all. Leave this place alone, just like I am. I have a low tolerance for stupidity. I just left while they played a who's on first. Completely unprofessional and immature. Will never spend a dime there again.
