We tried the Fish District a few days ago and had the Clam Chowder(Excellent) Calamari (Excellent ) Tuna Melt Sandwich (Very Good) and the Fish n Chips(Problems) it looked really good but the batter which looked nice and crispy was really really oily/soggy....I took a few more bites and it was like that all the way through. Wound up taking all the batter off the rest of the pieces and just ate the fish which was nice and tasty and cooked great Loved the Craft Sodas and can't wait for them to get their Beer n Wine going We'll be back to try the fish tacos next time and get more of the soup n Calamari read more

Very clean nice decor. Ordered the shrimp po boy, fish n chips and chowder fries. The fries are most memorable. Soo good. Fish was light and crispy perfection...not at all greasy. Po boy was really good also but a bit flavorless no spice or Cajun flavor but a nice soft toasted bun and fresh toppings. I had lunch at fish district with a friend today. I ordered the shrimp and scallop melt and was very disappointed. The sandwich was Doused with so much cream and sauce that I could not taste the shrimp or scallops at all. Moreover the portions of actual seafood in the sandwich were very minimal. The fries were very oily and stale. My friend ordered the fish and chips and he too was not impressed. They also have a selection of grilled fish bowls, but we did not try those. For a quick fast food style restaurant, this place has very fresh and very good seafood. Love the outdoor patio, as the weather is almost always perfect to sit outside while you eat. My husband likes the fish and chips and I love their clam chowder. Not too heavy a sauce and tons of fresh clams. The bowl (actually a paper container) is large and fills you up. I did once order their dessert bread pudding and it was to die for...but very, very rich. Excellent place to stop in for credible fish. I'm really glad this place opened up in Solana Beach because it adds a a great new lunch option in the area. I was excited to try this place because they have poke bowls and before this, I didn't know of other places in the area that offered them. Even though I came for the poke bowl, I tried the fish and chips and a cup of clam chowder during my first visit. The clam chowder was DELICIOUS. Maybe I was just super hungry, but I couldn't get over how tasty it was. The fish was ok, nothing special, but OMG THE DEEP BATTERED FRIES WERE AMAZING. I left that day with a list of other things I wanted to come back and try based on what I saw other people order and the screen advertising different dishes at the front of the restaurant. I came in the next day (lol yes don't judge me) with coworkers and had the spicy salmon poke bowl and the bacon chowder fries. The poke bowl is made fresh (Note: this is not one of those place where you choose the toppings and what not, but that's ok because it's so good and filling) and was very tasty. The fries were also good, but they definitely made me feel like I needed to go on a run afterwards. Overall, this is a great go-to lunch place. My son has been ordering poke bowls here for a couple years and suggested we stop in Saturday night. When we tried to order, the young lady behind the cash register was not in a good mood and it showed. We ordered two poke bowls, which come with rice, fish, seaweed salad, cucumber, ginger and a dressing of your choice. We asked for one bowl with the ginger on the side, and she said it either comes in the bowl or not at all. I responded with, it's included in the price, and rather than mix the pickled ginger in the bowl, we would prefer it on the side. She said again, it's either in the bowl or not at all. So we took it without ginger. I've eaten at other poke restaurants in the area, and they are far more accommodating, and have much better choices to include in the base price of the poke bowl.
