This is an updated review, last review I ordered via doordash from Del Mar, this time I headed into the store with my bestie and order a BYOB and to eat it there. Hands down, this is my all time favorite location on many things, would not recommend to go to the one in Newport since it was a bad experience for me. This location however, fresh, clean and they don't have undercook forbidden rice. Having my bowl fresh with the wasbi taro chips is my go to and honestly, they should have a taro poke bowl version like poke nacho with taro chips. I normally recreate Remi bowl but this time I wanted to build my own and it was really good. If you bring your student ID you get a discount, not sure if its in all location, I just saw a board in the shop. It was a very rainy day, place where empty but the worker made our food super fresh and you gotta try their Thai Chili salmon bowl if you like fish, they have vegan option as well.

My first time to a Sweetfin. I actually really like the large variety of flavors and toppings they offer: for example, culinary delights like gochujang, miso, sesame, soy, some fancy rice called forbidden rice. But these healthy bowls are more like a snack to me as they are light on the rice base. I might have to bring my own rice next time to make a meal out of it. But great service from the staff and it's a cute, bright little store with some seating.

I had a birthday reward, so my husband and I went to our local Sweetfin at One Paseo. There's either pick a menu bowl or build your own and I wanted to build my own. It's easy to choose vegan options, which I like. I made a tofu bowl with lots of veggies and it was super fresh and a perfect summer meal! The staff member was kind in figuring out how to apply my coupon. It's a great place to get yummy healthy food! Thank you for the meal!

Our first time visiting Sweetfin Poke. Very interesting poke store! The menu has designed poke bowls or pick on your own style poke. The ingredients are very different than the traditional poke places! More healthy Japanese flavors. I selected my own and liked the options. However, the poke sauce flavor was pretty bland and light. I am more used to the traditional style poke, but I can see some people like it.

When I first moved to San Diego, my relatives told me they really liked this shop for their poke. As many mainland poke places, it was a customizable poke bowl. I decided to give it a try a couple years later. It's located next to Blue Bottle Coffee and Shake Shack in One Paseo in Del Mar. There's a visitor parking garage closest to the shop (not the one across from it) with ample parking stalls which could get hectic during the weekends. I got their BYOB with tuna and salmon. I'm not going to list all the ingredients I chose as there were 2-3 sauces and 8 toppings LOL. I went straight for the mainland style poke bowl. The bowl looked delicious and surprisingly, was quite good and flavorful. It definitely wasn't the traditional poke I loved without all the random toppings, but it was a good mainland poke. The only downside was that there didn't seem to be much fish which was a bummer. The entire bowl was majority rice and toppings which made sense since I had 8 different things. I also got a side of Surimi Salad which was pretty good for a good portion for the price paid. Good flavor to mix together with the poke bowls! I came back another time and this time had my boyfriend order the bowl. He got the same fishes as I did previously: yellowtail tuna and salmon. However, he didn't add as many things as I did... instead he had 3x garlic flakes and 2x onion flakes with almost no greens besides the sprouts LOL. however, the bowl was VERY good and flavorful with the garlic and onion - just wished it had a little more greens. Overall, quite a fun place to decorate my poke bowls with a variety of toppings even though the fish wasn't fresh fresh. It's definitely not the traditional Hawaii style poke bowls with just the fish and sauce which wasn't necessarily bad.

I love this place. And the staff go above and beyond. Yes it may be a little pricey but their diligence with dietary restrictions- in house made soy sauce, tamari, gluten free wraps, etc- make the price SO worth it. Everything is very transparent all the way from ingredients to where they source their fish from. I will 100000% be back here. Very cute interior as well!!

I had never previously heard of this chain but my favorite Youtuber Remi Cruz is currently doing a collaboration with them! Food 4.5/5: This is my second time getting the Remi bowl which I believe is getting discontinued in a few weeks so get it asap. The first time I had it, it was just okay but this time I had a free offer for taro chips and got an extra side of eel sauce. (Tip: Download the app! They have deals for free taro chips on Tuesday!) This combination was purely a chef's kiss. Although I will say this time around my bowl was carb loaded with rice and didn't feel like as much fish. Service/Ambiance 5/5: The two guys in the front of the house were very nice and made you feel right at home. The place is on the smaller side but lots of seating outdoors. I love their logo and decorations. Believe that I will be back a few more times before I can't get this bowl anymore!

For the location and price it is worth it. Several fresh poke bowls to chose from which you can somewhat customize and either take to-go or eat there, for under $20. Located in the One Paseo shopping center.

Food is fresh and amazing. Love all the options and service is wonderful. Self service optional and could be useful if you don't know what to get since they have a lot of options and you can take your time ordering. Located in the paseo Del sol shopping area, nice and bright and seating outside available

Haiku: Sweetfin Love all the toppings There's even a kid's menu Fish can be gristly. --- I'm a poke fan, and Sweetfin is more of a California-style poke than Hawaiian poke. I'm impressed with their plethora of add-on toppings like sauteed eggplant, edamame, and shimeji mushrooms and bases like kelp noodle slaw and forbidden rice. I like variety so I always max out the options. My order: - Salmon and yellowfin tuna - Sauce: Miso sesame Shoyu - Base: Forbidden rice, Citrus kale, Kelp noodle slaw - Add-ons: Edamame, Japanese eggplant, mango, seaweed salad, shimeji mushrooms Although I like the aesthetic and sustainable fish offers, the quality could be better. I've come two times within a few days to try and both times the fish was gristly, the sauce flavors didn't come through, and the fruit add-ons were unripe. I love visiting One Paseo, and I'll probably come back to give Sweetfin another try. Tip: Download their app to get $5 off your order.

Yuzu Salmon Poke Bowl - not even cut or portioned properly
    Karen T.

I'm frustrated. I live across the street and have couple gift cards to use here and it's been hit or miss. Tonight takes the cake. I literally watched as the guy made my yuzu Kosho bowl on top of someone else's order- I thought he was making another person's bowl and had told him I wanted a base of salad and slaw, saw him grab the bowl of rice he was working on and build the bowl on that. Once he started trying to ring me up I corrected him and he built the correct base and transferred the contents on top to the new bowl. I didn't realize until I got home hed also forgot avocado. And by the time I got home they were closed so I have no recourse. I'm also an exhausted new mom, breastfeeding my infant, so it matters to me even more than normal what I eat because my milk is the source of nutrition for my baby. Check your order multiple times before leaving....

We came here to try another inKind app spot. The interior is beautifully decorated and aesthetically pleasing, however that did not prepare us for two very disappointing poke bowls. The only staff member present was welcoming throughout our ordering experience, but once we sat to eat our bowls, my bf realized mango was missing from his "Mango Albacore" bowl which he then went back to get it added-- forgivable, but overall the scant amount of fish/ toppings given in this 'signature bowl' is enough to deter us from returning. I built my own bowl which had more substance, but both bowls were lacking in flavor and light on sauces. I normally don't leave bad reviews, but this place was just not up to par and left us wanting more (of something else). Poke lovers, beware.

    Dallas W.

From the outside, it looks like it's more of a candy shop than a poke place. Definitely not my aesthetic, but it looks clean I suppose. The person who took my order was very nice, so that's a plus. My issues with the place are surrounding the taste and the price point. I thought the bowl was kind of dry, and I didn't love the quality of the fish. I got the large bowl which was $16. I don't think I'll ever go back to be honest. Nothing about the experience was heinous, but there's just a lot of better options in that shopping area.

We waited about 30 minutes (Sunday afternoon rush), but it gave me plenty of time to explore the menu. I usually stick to a simple order, but with so many base options, I decided to "do it all," and I'm so glad I did. My son loved the pitaya and mango bases (and so did I). The blue coconut and classic açaí were excellent, and the blue chia topping was a fun and tasty surprise. All the fruit was extra fresh, and the granola added the perfect crunch. We absolutely loved everything and will definitely be back soon!

I decided to just park along Gilman Drive, which is free, and walked about 20 minutes. Honestly, it wasn't bad at all -- it was a sunny day and there's plenty of street parking if you're willing to walk a bit. I've always loved Blue Bowl Superfoods in Oceanside. It's SO good and easily one of my favorite açaí spots, I could literally eat it every single day. I love all the customizations they offer, the variety of bases, and just how many ingredients they have. This time, I decided to visit their UCSD location, which is right in the middle of University of California San Diego's campus. They open around 10 AM on Saturdays (and typically around 8 AM on weekdays), and even right at opening there were already a lot of people waiting. My friend and I were still able to get in and out pretty quickly around 10. I ended up getting their mango passion base along with açaí. For toppings, I loaded it up strawberries, bananas, apples, blackberries, blueberries they truly have so many options. I also love their variety of nuts, seeds, and different types of nut butters. They really don't skimp on choices. Overall, I would highly recommend stopping by. I was SO full after, and honestly, you could even split a bowl with a friend because they pack it generously. It's about $12 for a normal medium-sized bowl, which I think is worth it for the portion and quality. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, which I really appreciated. The ambiance is nice it's more of a grab-your-bowl and then sit outside type of vibe, but there is indoor seating as well. Definitely one of my favorite açaí spots, and this location did not disappoint.

One thing I absolutely LOVE about this place is the whole garden café concept. They have two separate counters, one right in front of the parking lot for food orders and another tucked inside the garden for coffee, pastries, and bowls. The Green Power Bowl sounded tempting, but I ended up going with the Pitaya bowl, and it was absolutely DELICIOUS. After the first bite, I could immediately tell the fruits were fresh and no syrups were used and the fruit didn't have that frozen texture that some places use. Everything tasted fresh and high quality. For $12.50, I also thought the portion was surprisingly generous, especially considering the fresh ingredients. The couple taking orders and serving customers were incredibly friendly to me and others, and the whole place had that welcoming, local neighborhood feel that's becoming harder to find these days. I found the garden beautiful, with plenty of outdoor seating whether you want to sit in the sun or find a shady spot to relax. I'm already looking forward to coming back.
