Happy - Make It Your Own!

Happy Bowl ($13.95) - This was a customizable bowl with two scoops of protein. The tuna and salmon were fresh but the scoops could've been bigger. I loved the mixture of sauces (Pokewan, K Spicy, Sriracha Mayo) I got because it added great flavor and heat. I'm not rushing to come back here, especially for the price, but it's a pretty solid poké bowl.

    Happier... definitely :-)

My favorite poke place in SD county, flavor wise. Good quality fish, good sauces, good portion for the price. Depending on the person that makes your bowl, the protein portion seems to vary a bit in quantity. Is it "good value"? Debatable, but for the price of a good roll you get a huge bowl of food. Today they had no seafood salad. Bummer... and they charge for the first scoop of crab, which used to be included.

Three people in line = 15-20 minute wait. Why? Because the team was nonstop working on to-go orders while only two people handled in-store customers. The food is fine, but the service setup makes no sense and kills the experience.

I ordered a poke bowl in the "Happier" size, and got salmon and tuna as my proteins along with several toppings. They have seaweed salad as one of the free add-ons, which is really nice! The portion sizes are smaller than most of the poke restaurants I have been to in San Diego, but most of the ingredients were pretty fresh. They also have some unique ingredients that I normally don't see at other poke spots, like mango salsa, beets, and herb tofu. Service was kind of slow on the day I went, but there seemed to be a large volume of online orders and only one worker when I went. The interior is clean and there is plenty of seating as well. I would probably come back once in a while if I am in the area and this is a solid choice even if it is pretty pricey!

pretty decent poke place, presentation and taste were both very good. the ambiance of the place is nice and chill. only complaint being that they're slightly stingy with the salmon and overall positive

I was skeptical about this place at first because it is a bit overpriced, but overall a solid place! It's hard to find really good poke in California that has a reasonable price these days. The bowl with 4 scoops is $16.95. I will say that the fish is fresher than poke 1/2. I didn't love the sauces that I got because I was expecting something spicy, but it tasted more sweet and tangy. The bowl is filled nicely and the fish itself is pretty good. I don't think the small bowl is worth it, so definitely size up to the bigger bowl! Service was quick and nice, not a long line on a Friday evening.

Shared 1 Create Your Own Poke Bowl (Happier) with my wife for dinner; and we did not even finish the whole bowl. This place has one of the best Poke Bowl in town: 1. Good amount of protein 2. Can still taste the fish that we added (tuna, salmon and spicy tuna) which means that the toppings, the base and the crunch really complemented well with the fish 3. Fish texture for their spicy tuna (not mashed potato-like texture) 4. Best sauce combination: pokewan and garlic mustard Highly recommend trying this place.

Super pleased with Pokewan - The employees here make good bowls. Like a lot of OCD when putting the bowl together which makes for a really awesome presentation and eating experience. Love this place

In town for work and came across this Poke Bowl spot. The selection of poke, sides and toppings were plentiful and if you wanted more of a certain topping and sides, no problem. The rice was plain and when I eat Poke Bowl, I expect sushi rice and not plain rice. All of the ingredients were fresh. The service was pleasant. I would consider returning to this location.

Well, we skipped Happy Hour and went straight for Sunday Brunch! And I'm glad we did. FOOD & DRINK (4/5) After checking their on-line menus, I knew ahead what I was going to order. [Tip: During Brunch, you can also order from the Lunch menu.] I enjoyed: Tito's Bloody Mary (4/5) -- They didn't have horseradish, but there was nice heat from jalapeños in the drink. ($16) Lemongrass Chicken Dumplings (4/5) -- Five lightly fried dumplings served with sweet soy and a cilantro emulsion. Overall, very nice, but I was hoping for more assertiive lemongrass flavor. ($17) 13th Street Benedict (5/5) -- Two poached eggs, done perfectly soft with runny yolks, served over tender citrus braised pork on top of crispy potato cakes. They were accompanied by a generous amount of tasty fried potatoes. Oh ... I really liked the avocado cilantro sauce over the eggs. The 13th Street Benedict is a winner. ($21) I also had some of the Warm Bread (3/5 $5 basket of 4) -- Hawaiian-style rolls with garlic butter -- and tasted their French Fries (5/5) -- IMHO best in Del Mar! SERVICE (4/5) was very good. AMBIANCE (4/5) The dining room and patio are both covered and open air, overlooking Camino del Mar. Dining room is covered, and the patio has umbrellas. Both are calm and relaxing. There's also a nice beach bar with some high tops -- looks like a laid-back place to hang out. Street parking only, which can be a hassle in Del Mar, especially on the weekends Overall ... we'll be back!

I've also been to the Nick's in Carlsbad, and I personally think that location is a little nicer because I love their outdoor seating area. That said, the Del Mar location also offers both indoor and outdoor seating, so you still have options. The service was pretty good. It was definitely busy when I visited, so the staff seemed a little rushed at times, but everyone was still very friendly and attentive. The food is always consistently good. I highly recommend starting with the Thai-style lettuce wraps as an appetizer, they're one of my favorites. For my entrée, I ordered the cheeseburger, which never disappoints. Everything was cooked well and tasted great. I also really like the ambiance here. It has a cozy, darker atmosphere that makes it a great spot for a dinner date or a night out with friends. The prices are also pretty reasonable for the quality of the food and service. Overall, I'd definitely recommend checking this location out if you're in the Del Mar area.

I love it when restaurants are so welcoming. Started with the calamari and the ahi crudo- both excellent. But, the braised beef ravioli was the main attraction. Devon recommended it and it did not disappoint. It's rare that I order ravioli, but this was perhaps the best version I have ever tasted- made from scratch and so flavorful. Ended the meal with limoncello and housemade tiramisu. I would also recommend their martini made with the new premium Austrian rye vodka, NEFT. These were truly superior. Ample, free parking and a lovely sunset view from the dining room. Can't wait to return to Aqua Mare for another memorable meal next time I'm in Del Mar. Bon Appétit!

We had a 9:00 PM reservation and ended up arriving about 10 minutes late, but we were still seated promptly. Valet parking was only $11 (plus tax), and the attendants were friendly and efficient. Our server, Victor, was fantastic. He congratulated us on our anniversary and provided attentive service all night. I'm not much of a wine drinker, but with their impressive wine selection, I wasn't sure what to order. Victor recommended a wine that paired perfectly with my meal, and I ended up really enjoying it. The restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful and elegant. Between courses, we were given warm lemon towels to refresh our hands, which was appreciated. We started with the Caesar salad, which featured a perfectly poached egg on top--a delicious twist on a classic. The crispy croutons were incredible. We also ordered the Chicken Fried Lobster Tails, and I have to say... they absolutely lived up to the hype. We have literally been thinking about them every day since our dinner! For our entrées, we ordered steak and salmon. The steak was cooked medium-well exactly as requested--perfectly tender, juicy, and full of flavor. It arrived on an incredibly hot plate that kept everything sizzling throughout the meal. We paired it with the mac & cheese, whipped mashed potatoes, and broccoli. Every side was delicious, especially the creamy mac & cheese. Even though we were completely stuffed, we couldn't pass up dessert. The Red Velvet Bread Pudding was amazing and the perfect ending to the meal. We couldn't finish it, but the staff happily boxed everything up for us to enjoy later. To top it all off, one of the staff members even offered to take our anniversary photo, so we were able to capture the memory without having to ask. Every detail made this one of our favorite dining experiences. Steak 48 knows how to make a celebration feel special.
