Happy - Make It Your Own!

Happy Bowl ($13.95) - This was a customizable bowl with two scoops of protein. The tuna and salmon were fresh but the scoops could've been bigger. I loved the mixture of sauces (Pokewan, K Spicy, Sriracha Mayo) I got because it added great flavor and heat. I'm not rushing to come back here, especially for the price, but it's a pretty solid poké bowl.

    Happier... definitely :-)

My favorite poke place in SD county, flavor wise. Good quality fish, good sauces, good portion for the price. Depending on the person that makes your bowl, the protein portion seems to vary a bit in quantity. Is it "good value"? Debatable, but for the price of a good roll you get a huge bowl of food. Today they had no seafood salad. Bummer... and they charge for the first scoop of crab, which used to be included.

pretty decent poke place, presentation and taste were both very good. the ambiance of the place is nice and chill. only complaint being that they're slightly stingy with the salmon and overall positive

Three people in line = 15-20 minute wait. Why? Because the team was nonstop working on to-go orders while only two people handled in-store customers. The food is fine, but the service setup makes no sense and kills the experience.

I ordered a poke bowl in the "Happier" size, and got salmon and tuna as my proteins along with several toppings. They have seaweed salad as one of the free add-ons, which is really nice! The portion sizes are smaller than most of the poke restaurants I have been to in San Diego, but most of the ingredients were pretty fresh. They also have some unique ingredients that I normally don't see at other poke spots, like mango salsa, beets, and herb tofu. Service was kind of slow on the day I went, but there seemed to be a large volume of online orders and only one worker when I went. The interior is clean and there is plenty of seating as well. I would probably come back once in a while if I am in the area and this is a solid choice even if it is pretty pricey!

I was skeptical about this place at first because it is a bit overpriced, but overall a solid place! It's hard to find really good poke in California that has a reasonable price these days. The bowl with 4 scoops is $16.95. I will say that the fish is fresher than poke 1/2. I didn't love the sauces that I got because I was expecting something spicy, but it tasted more sweet and tangy. The bowl is filled nicely and the fish itself is pretty good. I don't think the small bowl is worth it, so definitely size up to the bigger bowl! Service was quick and nice, not a long line on a Friday evening.

Shared 1 Create Your Own Poke Bowl (Happier) with my wife for dinner; and we did not even finish the whole bowl. This place has one of the best Poke Bowl in town: 1. Good amount of protein 2. Can still taste the fish that we added (tuna, salmon and spicy tuna) which means that the toppings, the base and the crunch really complemented well with the fish 3. Fish texture for their spicy tuna (not mashed potato-like texture) 4. Best sauce combination: pokewan and garlic mustard Highly recommend trying this place.

Super pleased with Pokewan - The employees here make good bowls. Like a lot of OCD when putting the bowl together which makes for a really awesome presentation and eating experience. Love this place

In town for work and came across this Poke Bowl spot. The selection of poke, sides and toppings were plentiful and if you wanted more of a certain topping and sides, no problem. The rice was plain and when I eat Poke Bowl, I expect sushi rice and not plain rice. All of the ingredients were fresh. The service was pleasant. I would consider returning to this location.

I really like the Garlic Ahi sandwich with a side of sweet potato fries. The other amazing thing they have is banana pudding, which runs out pretty quickly. There is some seating available for dining in but I mostly get take out, and it seems everyone else does as well. The tables are usually clean and tidy, and the area is a bit small and cramped but still plenty of seating. The only issues I have is that the menu prices don't seem to match across their physical menu, ordering platforms, and what you actually get charged. I believe what I order is listed somewhere around $13 on the physical menu but I always am charged closer to $16. They also do run out of stuff, so have a back up order in mind just in case. I've been craving a Loco Moco and just didn't wanna make one myself. It's a no frills dining area. Booth bench that stretches an entire wall and chairs. The fresh made beef patty, lightly seasoned was big and juicy. Simple gravy with sautéed mushrooms and onion slivers. Wish the onions were grilled a bit more, than served raw. Since this is a lunch plate meal- you'll get a scoop of white steamed rice & creamy Mac & cheese salad (with that lil tang of apple cider vinegar). I didn't realize the patty was sitting on top of more rice - thank gawd! LOL. And the egg yolk was nice and runny to slop up all the yum yums in. Washed it down with a lilikoi lemonade.

With the Aloha Spirit on my mind lately, Leilani's Cafe had caught my attention. I have no idea which spirit may have been looking out, but we pulled right up to an open street parking spot nearly in front of the place. The blessings didn't end there. There was no line to order when I walked in & we found an open table immediately. But that changed shortly after my order was in. It got super busy with a line out the door to order. I had ordered the Hilo Loco Moco & Spam Musubi Leilani's Style. My fiancée got the French Toast. The food didn't take too long, as I was just ahead of the kitchen rush. It was all quite yummy & decent portion sizes. Trying some of my fiancée's French Toast, that ended up being the most interesting dish to me. I've never had that made with sweet Hawaiian bread before. & now I'm convinced that's the best way to make French Toast. So, on a day when Hawaii happened to be on my mind, Leilani's Cafe was a nice taste of the islands. Undoubtedly cheaper & more convenient than the 2,610 miles flight out to Honolulu. Though that is certainly a trip worth taking...

Let's start with the basics: our server, Kennedy, was completely checked out. Zero urgency, zero professionalism, and an obvious "I don't care" attitude the entire time. But bad service ended up being the least of our concerns. The food was flat out unsafe. My garlic shrimp came out with the digestive tract still in it and yes, not cleaned at all. When I brought it up, Kennedy grabbed a manager who didn't even bother to introduce herself. Her response? This has "happened multiple times before" and ownership is aware and chooses to keep it that way. She actually said the cooks "don't have to clean the shrimp." Let that sink in. So this isn't a mistake, it's a standard. Then it got worse. My wife's chicken katsu was RAW in the center. Not undercooked but raw. Pink, unsafe, completely inedible. At that point, we were done. Serving raw chicken is not a small oversight, it's a serious health risk. Meanwhile, both the manager and Kennedy were more focused on watching Coachella than doing their jobs. Kennedy was openly yelling things like "Oh shit!" about performers while ignoring tables and with children around. Completely unprofessional and honestly embarrassing to watch. So to recap: * Uncleaned shrimp being knowingly served * Raw chicken making it to the table * Burnt beef * Staff that couldn't care less * Management admitting they're aware and doing nothing This isn't just bad service, this is negligence. Ownership should be ashamed, and this place seriously needs to be inspected by the health department before someone gets sick. Do not risk your money or your health eating here!
