Welp! After hearing rave reviews about this restaurant, we made a trip (one hour and a half) to try it! We pull up and there's a sign stating no inside dining due to transformer malfunctioning. It read that online orders were acceptable . . .no answer via phone number on doors and all 3 doors were locked! Not a great first impression . . . If it's this unprofessional and the food is reported to be good, what does one do? Please advise before I spend more money on gas to "try" your restaurant! Thank you . . . read more

Yum!! I came with a group of friends and we loved it. Got the fried Crab Cake dinner with Fries and Mac n Cheese (also comes with hush puppies). I'm usually not one for crab cake, but because the reviews said that was good, I had to get it. I definitely don't regret it!! It was the best I've ever had and the fries were too! The hush puppies and nac were good but nothing beats the crab cake and fries. Came out fresh and hot! The portion was huge too so I had to pack it up afterwards to take home. I have heard a lot about Fish N Grill. I finally had a chance to visit. The restaurant is small, but makes the best use of space. I ordered the Fried Fish Dinner. I had one piece of Fried Catfish and one piece of Fried Whiting. For my side dishes, I had the collard greens, yams, and the baked macaroni and cheese. Hush puppies are also included. The portion size is good for the price. The meal is filling. I have one complaint. The food is not seasoned well. Everything could use more salt and pepper. The Macaroni and Cheese just has cheese on the top. Plus, I prefer collard greens with more vinegar. The hush puppies and yams were seasoned properly. I would not change anything about those two side dishes. Overall, the meal was filling. The menu is extensive. So, perhaps if I return, I will try something else. read more

Went on date night with my babyluv and I was very impressed. My husband not so much, he thought everything was under seasond. I had the shrimp dinner eith onion rings and slaw and was floored by not only floored by the quality but also the quantity. The shrimp was crispy, crunchy, and tasty, as were the onion rings, the slaw was amazing and I'm not usually impressed by Cole slaw, but this was awesome. I have to mention our server, Eliza who was knowledgeable about the menu and very gracious, catered to us like we were the only people there. All I can do is speak of my experience, but I did taste my husbands chowder and I have to say it was kinda bland, added salt and oldil bay, it was eatable, but don't recommend. Came for lunch and ordered the lunch special fish sandwich. It was pretty cool that I got to pick what kind of fish I wanted. I went with flounder but they also had catfish and a few other. It came with a drink and fries for $6.99. The place looks very nice and clean!! I thought it was going to be dirty but it wasn't. Restroom was clean too, anyway back to the food, the sandwich in my opinion would have tasted better with the sub type kinda of bread. Fish was a little thin but for the price I paid I'm not gonna complain. I didn't like the chipotle sauce that came with the sandwich but overall it was decent. Stopped in for lunch. Had the bacon wrapped scallops appetizer special. Was cooked to perfection. These large scallops were more bacon encased than wrapped. Two came with a honey bbq sauce. The other two had no sauce on them, but had a good cocktail sauce and siracha aoli added in plastic cups. I preferred those to the bbq which was a little sweet for me. I also had the fried shrimp basket subbing green beans for fries. The shrimp were fried Louisiana style with light cornmeal breading. Fried just right. Green beans were tender and tasty, wish the portion was larger. The service from Mandy was very friendly and attentive. She had great smile and attitude the entire time was there. 1. Reservation was not correctly done. We were told that a room was available and would seat the 15 people, one was in a wheelchair and an infant. 2. Our drinks arrived 20 minutes after arriving. Appetizers came 20 - 25 minutes after that. Crab dip was not replenished as asked. Requested additional bread at a cost of$1.50 versus free. This also did not come. 3. Was charged gratuity. No discount offered for overcooked crab cakes and all plates with macaroni and cheese were dry. Fish and chips were rubbery and fries were cold. Two bills one for over $300 and the other for over $110 need to reflect refunds based on courtesy and respect. 4. Patrons that arrived afterwards received their food ate and left with togo bags (2 families of four) Will never come back or recommend this place. Have repeatedly tried calling and somehow the phone just rings and hangs up. Not even worth the one star I had to leave to post this. read more

My 40-minute drive to Fredericksburg was worth it. I took visiting family members here for dinner last night and we all left happily stuffed. There is a decent amount of seating inside, but they're also very busy with takeout orders. FOOD: Crab Dip with Bread ($9.99): Good! The crab dip had plenty of real crab, was covered in cheese, and freshly made. It's a great appetizer to share with someone. Fried Croaker Dinner ($14.99): Dee-lish-uuus!! I've never had croaker prior to last night's dinner, and I enjoyed every bite. You get two large whole croakers (without the head, though) coated with cornmeal and deep fried. Yes, the fish bones are still intact, but don't let that detract you from enjoying it. The fish had great flavor even without the sauce. Fish 'n' Chips ($12.99): 5/5. It comes with 3 huge tempura-battered cod fillets that are fried to a great golden brown color. It was freshly fried, the cod was fresh and flaky, and the coating was crunchy. As for the chips, they were crunchy and also freshly fried, while the cole slaw was noticeably crisp! Everything was fantastic. Fried Flounder ($12.99): Enjoyable but the fillets were a little on the small side. They were as flaky as the other fish ordered, flavorful, and well seasoned while the coating was light and thin. It paired well with the sauce on the side. As was the case with the other orders, the flounder was also freshly fried. We had mixed reviews for the side dishes, which unfortunately prevents me from giving FNG an extra half-star; I'm giving them a 4.5 out of 5. My family wasn't impressed by any of the sides, including the ones I ordered. For me, I'd say the greens were good, followed by the yams and then the mac and cheese. None of us cared for the hush puppies. SERVICE: Excellent from start to finish! Although we walked in around 35 minutes before closing time (9pm), the friendly staff did not hesitate to welcome and seat us in a comfy booth. We were checked on multiple times while dining and had our drinks refilled. My family and I still cannot stop talking about this place hours after having dinner here. We stopped by Fish N' Grill for lunch on a week day. I was surprised how packed the place got but we eased into a table without a wait. My mom chose the Fish and Chips and I opted for the Fish Sandwich. I got the option of fish (whiting, catfish, tilapia or flounder). I asked the server what she suggested and she said there was a cod fish sandwich (also used for the fish and chips) that she really loved so I got that. I was surprised that it was served on a burger bun with no toppings (lettuce, tomato, onion) as the regular sandwich. But the server brought me some lettuce. It was messy but delicious. My mom loved hers too. And there was enough of hers for another meal. Big portions, clean restaurant, and friendly servers. We'll be back to try more on the menu. read more

Yeah, it's trash as far as seafood goes and the prices are unnecessarily high. They jumped on the price-gouge train. Had two shrimp baskets (over $30!). Should be an easy enough order. Prices certainly promise a lot, right? Well, the shrimp were old and hard. Do you know how poorly you have to cook to mess up fried shrimp? Upset my stomach something awful. Fries were soggy. Called to give feedback and ask for a refund; answer was 'no.' The guy who answered said he'd see about a comp meal but was told 'no' by the "higher ups." Since they didn't want to listen I thought I'd post it here for everyone to judge for themselves. Seriously, just go to Long John Silver's or Captain D's. read more

Heard about this place from a co-worker. Walked into a small space with little room before the counter. He weren't greeted but were informed by other guest waiting here the list for seating was. A waiter finally put us on the list. It was about 6 pm on a Saturday and we only waited for about 10 minutes. The Resturant is small will the limited seating. Our waiter, Travis, was great. He didn't rush us and made suggestions for us new comers. The flounder and fried shrimp was good, the Mac and cheese, not so much, as it was dry and cheese deficient. The bulgogi was tasty. The yams were overly sweet. Got the sweet potato pie for desert but for takeout so I haven't tried it yet. But it's a huge portion. The pork chops were not available on the menu and had been blocked out. It's a quaint place and worth a shot, especially if you like seafood. We will probably give it another shot. read more

Food was excellent and service was bomb!!! I have a toddler who's in casts and the waitress, Tiffany, was soooo accommodating. My toddler had an accident and had actually messed up his extra clothes. She went to her car and let me use a pair of her kids clothes just so he wouldn't be uncomfortable. She made me want to cry b/c I know she could see I was struggling. Thank u so much Tiffany. Visiting from the West Coast and not very familiar with all they types of fish they have or the best way to enjoy the shrimp, scallops, crab cakes and clams ( grilled or fried). The place was packed with dinners. A ton of take- out dinners that shared " you must get" food choices they had years of experience. Mac -n-Cheese was the #1 side choice in our impromptu survey. They were right! Everything was cooked perfectly. The only negative was that the complete order had to be all fried or all grilled we would have liked a combination. A big thank you to Kyle for taking the time to go over your menu in great detail and setting us up for a delicious family birthday dinner. You raved about your fish tacos. so Kyle, we will bring you back a Rubio fish taco and compare! May the best taco win!!! Fish and grill really changed, since I last visited, some 5 years ago. The parking lot is kind of crowded- I didn't expect that to change in a strip zoned for businesses. But it's clean. They would do well to have one garbage can outside of the establishment but the sidewalk is narrow. The signage is visible. The restaurant is very open, airy and immaculate. We arrived, intending to eat in the car because we have a toddler with special needs: he's in thigh high leg casts. The restaurant had a separate area in the front, near the door that accommodated our needs. We are COVID conscious and wanted to be away from others. The food was fantastic. We had catfish meals and sides that were delicious, hot and arrived in a timely manner. My grandson was having a horrible time sitting and eating: he is in thigh high casts and he was not happy that he couldn't sit by himself or eat properly. He's very active and independent. While sitting in his mom's lap, he urinated through his diaper and down her leg. While we were ready to go back to the car to take everything "to go." Our server, Tiffany, came to the rescue. She went to the car and gave us a diaper he could fit and pants he could wear. I've never seen such a kind gesture at a restaurant. She is a gem. He's newly casted, so we had to buy new diapers (he's potty training but has to go back a few steps to a regular diaper. Tiffany saved the afternoon. I recommend Dish and Grill for the food (it's exemplary), for the ambiance and for kind people like Tiffany; people that really take pride in themselves and pass kindness to others. Legitimate east coast seafood with a huge menu, my wife have a shrimp Po boy which was excellent and I have a fish and chips which were amazing. Ok, this place is AMAZING! I had a hankering for a crab cake on my way home from Richmond to Fredericksburg on Memorial Day weekend. Mac and cheese and collard greens... really? REALLY?? The star of the show at this establishment is the seafood. If you're going to base your review on sides, I can't take you seriously. Secondly, a couple reviews complained about the fried fish being greasy...Well, it's fried in oil so yeah, it's not going to be healthy! That said, we entered at 5:26 on a Sunday and the place was closing at 6. The waiter asked the manager if they were still seating and he said sure, unless you're ordering crabs - which we weren't. We were told to help ourselves to a seat. We ordered immediately... crab dip for an appetizer and fried crab cake dinner for me and soft shell sandwich and fries for my husband. While we waited for our food, my husband kept repeatedly telling me how nice this place was! "I was not expecting this!" The crab dip came out about 15 minutes later but was totally worth the wait. It was served with warm baguette crisps and was delicious. It was topped with melted cheese, scallions and had a nice bite - hint of cayenne or Tabasco. Not a lot of cream cheese with a sprinkling of crab, either. As soon as we finished, our plates were cleared and our dinner arrived minutes later. No disappointment there!! It was cooked and presented to perfection. I wasn't expecting 4 huge hushpuppies with my meal so I handed them off to my husband. BIG MISTAKE! They were delicious, sweet, crispy, fluffy inside and sweet and savory. My crab cakes were not lump and had a fair amount of filler but for $16.99, I got what I expected as far as the meat that was used. But the flavor far exceeded my expectations! Even the sides, potato salad and coleslaw, were delicious. My husband was thrilled with his soft shell crab sandwich and even said his mother would love it.... high praise, indeed!! His meal was the day's special and it did not disappoint. With a soda and 2 Coronas, our bill was under $50. We will be back!! Normally this is my spot on place. Everything is usually banging. Yesterday 3/25/23 I went and got a 20 piece whole wing order for $34. I had just got the same order about 3 or 4 months ago and wings were big, well seasoned and fried to perfection. Yesterday I got wings that came off a Cornish hen. These were the smallest wings I have ever gotten anywhere. There was more skin then meat. Still seasoned well but I was highly disappointed. If management is going to change the quality of the wings then they must also change the price. read more
