2 Stars Goes To Their Sangria ... So I went in on a Monday night so it was not very busy, our server comes over quickly and we order two drinks. I ordered the sangria which was pretty good, had a nice kick Now for food... I ordered the sweet and sour chicken (12.95) and a side of Mac n cheese ($3) ....food comes out and it's flavorless. The Mac n cheese had a lot of cheese but weirdly no real flavor. The sweet n sour chicken had too much sauce so it overpowered my taste buds and I couldn't enjoy the food We get the bill and my food is charged for 13.95 and my Mac is charged 5.95 ...... When brought to my servers attention She went over and picked up the menu and proceeded to point at the note in the corner and say "you see this here, it says prices are subject to change which means prices can change at any point" which is understandable if I came yesterday and it was a different price and then came the next day and the prices went up .... but prices need to be disclosed on the actual menu.!! That's unacceptable... And if you know your menus are not up to date, As a server you need to disclose to your guests any price discrepancies, simple! read more

I was actually blown away by this inconspicuous hole in the wall restaurant. I'm from The Bronx, so I'm always excited to see good things going on there. This was a great thing. Decor left a bit to be desired, all the tables are dark and woody. Along with the dim lighting, small space of ten tables (some 2 seaters some 4 seaters), a corner of plush (but in need of repair) seats align the only window. Immediately I noticed someone had "repaired" a fabric rip by using gray masking tape tsk tsk tsk BUT this ain't project runway and I'm not Tim Gunn. Let's get to it!! The menu was decent, not a huge variety but enough to make you feel as if you didn't waste your time bothering to stop in. We were seated quickly waitresses were nice, smiled made us feel welcomed which was really nice being that I've been complaining of lack of great service lately. Drink menu was cool , they had a few creative drinks on there. The three of us immediately decided on The flaming Bob Marley shots and Rum Punch. Once we put in the order we quickly realized neither knew what in the hell to do when these shots of fire arrived!! I googled it but we were still nervous lol The waitress brought it over to us and asked if we knew how to drink it and showed us how using the straw method. Took me a few tries and 2 melted straws but I got it and it was fun and delicious, warm toward the end. I REALLY liked it, we all did. Rum punch was not the 'One hitter quitter' that my fellow Yelpers made it seem like. It was ok, Great if you like banana rum and Guava (but I don't) but not as strong as I had hoped. Food was PHENOMENAL!! When trying a place that serves food of any ethnicity I try something traditional because I feel like you should be able to do this exceptionally well and if you don't you probably won't see my money again. I ordered Oxtails, Rice and Peas, My brother ordered Garlic Crab legs and my sister ordered Mac and Cheese and Festival. Yes, I know, I know WTF were they doing ordering that at a JAMAICAN spot ?! However, I'm so glad they did!! Let me be clear IMO I don't feel like mac and cheese is something Jamaican spots do well. I've been all over and it's always been just pasta and cheese carelessly thrown together. Nuh uh, not here! The mac took the longest because it was made to order. It was hot, gooey, cheesy and sprinkled with love. I was literally amazed. The festival was also made to order and was piping hot and perfectly cooked, crispy outside soft inside slight sweetness like it should be. My brothers crab legs were amazing! I mean, usually broiled crab legs taste like well, crab. These crab legs tasted like butter and garlic all throughout. There were small chunks of cooked garlic all over the crab legs and even a clove in the dipping butter that you really didn't need but couldn't stop dipping in. I mean c'mon it was authentic garlic butter is what I'm saying and not eating it was not an option ok? Ok. My oxtail were cut on the thinner side and I usually like them to be cut thicker. The glaze was brownish reddish and I won't lie it made me nervous. I'm used to a much darker glaze on my oxtail. It did not disappoint. The texture was perfect, the sauce was delicious and the rice and peas were perfect. It had a good amount of peppers in it but it wasn't spicy. It was however, delicious and honestly I am a tough critic of Oxtails being that my husband and in laws are Jamaican. So, to me that says a lot. The bill was only 105.33 for three shots, three drinks, two full meals, three side dishes. Not bad at all. This spot will definitely be visited again and I'm so glad it's close to my family so that I have a reason to go back. This place was solid, friendly, creative with their drinks, fair in price and in my hometown. That warrants a five star review. Decided to treat the family to a little post-Thanksgiving dinner. The wait at Edo's was too long and I wasn't feeling for Country Kitchen so we headed to Fish N' Ting off of the strength of nonstop recommendations over the past few months. I was dreading having to find parking on Boston Road but I got lucky and pulled into a spot right outside of the restaurant. Still, parking can be a real challenge in that area. My family and I were seated immediately. The customer service was exceedingly pleasant from the beginning to the end of our visit, especially from our server, Celia. If you're at all familiar with Jamaican food establishments, you know how unbelievable this is. As for the food, I'm upset that I don't have any as I'm typing this. Our table had the Mac & Cheese appetizer, Oxtail, Jerk Snapper, Steamed Butterfish, and Steamed Salmon (all with Rice & Peas). The only thing I didn't taste was the Oxtail (pescatarian) but everything else had me singing along to the great music they had playing in the background. You know that dance you do when your food is THAT good? Yeah, I was doing that. These 5 stars are based on my first and only visit. Unfortunately, I no longer live in the Bronx but I will be making Fish N' Ting a regular stop during my frequent trips. If anything changes during subsequent trips, I'll update accordingly. Great food but TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! For a while I gave them a pass for the food. But enough is enough. Management please take notes. Your Checkout staff is rude and very impolite. In this day and age you can definitely take a great product i.e. your food to a whole new level with great customer service. After reading reviews I broke down and Ordered the "chicken rasta pasta" tonight and I'm highly disappointed. It tastes like BBQ sauce mixed with Alfredo sauce. There's barely any chicken either. The only good thing was that I called in and it was ready when I came but otherwise $31 on 2 orders of food that wasn't even good is disappointing. I honestly .. Have not gotten good service (IN A WHILE) until coming here & having Shawn serve me. This is my first time here even though I have thought of coming in over a year. As soon as I came in, I wasn't sure if I had to seat myself or ask to be sat. Seeing how warm Shawn appeared, I asked him if I get sat or did I have to be seated. He quickly said with a smile "I will seat you" .. I'm sure I was not within his section because he was barely within the section BUT was VERY attentive to me. I ordered Curry chicken with white rice. The food was amazing! The curry had the right amount of spice which is ideal! I sat outside, I love the atmosphere. Very clean & the whole entire staff seems very friendly (very rare). I also had two Rum Punches which are good as well. He even went as far as packing my food at the end . (Which I already know is not required but he went the EXTRA MILE) . Thank you Shawn for an amazing first experience. Even though I read the reviews & almost all were positive, Shawn sealed the deal easily. PLEASE BE REMINDED THAT I AM A BARTENDER/SERVER (5+ years) . I love the shrimp and jerk chicken Rasta pasta. It's nice and spicy with a lot of flavor. Certainly a winner because not all West Indian restaurants offer this dish. Ok this place is a hole in the wall not in a bad way. It is a local type spot out of the way between car repair shops. This place is truly a place to get good food at a reasonable price. I forgot the lady's name who was on the register this evening. She went far and beyond to take our complicated order. She was pleasant and very helpful with correcting our order. I must say if I owned a food establishment, I would hire her to be my General manager. Now to the food. Oxtail- seasoned very well, just needed another 45 minutes to an hour to reach full tenderness. Great service. Good food. Strong drinks. Came here on a visit to the bronx once Sunday afternoon. It has a great Caribbean feel. With outdoor seating (there are heaters and a tent which keep the place warm. The rum punch was very strong. I had to get the rasta pasta since everyone raved about it on Yelp. It was delicious but huge. I only had a few bites and was stuffed. I also got the festival which was very tasty. All and all I will come again when whenever I'm in the Bronx. The portion was very filling, so much that I had some leftover. They aren't stingy with their shrimp either...I had plenty throughout to enjoy the pasta in it's entirety!
