This is a good fish restaurant that is not as good as it used to be. The fish is fresh but not outstanding and the atmosphere and service is somewhat unenthusiastic and not up to par. Came here a few evenings ago, asked for a table for 2 for outside! There were 6 available! Guy at reception tells us that he "typically only keeps outside for my reservations" ! That he's only got inside available!.... There were 6 empty tables outside! We reluctantly said ok to inside, only to see an old couple come in 5 mins later and ask if they could sit outside which they did!.... There were now 5 tables still free! Not a single reservation came within the next hour while we were there! Very disappointing attitude from staff who could have easily accommodated us outside! Will not return or recommend to anyone based purely on this! Waiters were nice and food was good but attitude from guy at front door made the whole place feel like it's trying to be too pretentious and too good for your money! Amazing happy hour with a great staff. We've come here three weeks in a row for happy hour and have loved every experience! I've tried the oysters, the pork belly lollipops, the fish tacos, the rock shrimp, the Brussel sprouts. Each was spectacular ! Nice place to eat at the bar. Ashley, the bartender, is professional and can sure shake a drink .. Had their ENPANADAS and they were delicious, swordfish tacos, my personal favorite, brussel sprouts delicious with truffle cheese and a little mash potatoes on the bottom a must if you like BS. Also had the Mahi tacos very nice and their pork belly appetizer also all very good .. Ashley mixed a FANTASTIC GREY GOOSE COSMO twice and she mixed a brilliant Bullet Manhattan both MIXED TO PERFECTION. Very nice bar get their early for happy hour I'm sure it gets crowded. Fish has become a shell of itself. Our favorite restaurant since moving from NYC nearly 6 years ago, we look forward to the cocktails, attentive staff and delicious appetizers and entrees. They are one of the few places that still can create a "simply naked" fish with a side dish that is mouth watering. Tonight, our experience was extraordinarily disappointing. We waited at our table for at least ten minutes before someone (I believe a manager) approached us to see if anyone had come to take a drink order. It seemed as if they were short staffed, as it took another 25 minutes for someone to come and ask if we had ordered drinks or dinner yet. My husband's gin martini arrived dirty, however, my strawberry rhubarb cocktail was the star of the evening. The Caesar salad arrived plentiful, but lackluster. The romaine was browning, dressing was anything but homemade, there were anchovies to be seen, and the croutons and Parmesan were utilitarian. Nothing quite what we are accustomed to when we dine at Fish. My husband could not wait for his crab stuffed shrimp which are always plentiful and plump. They were dry, puny and the mashed potatoes tasted like they were out of a box. Each piece of my simply naked seared tuna had Cartledge which made it difficult to cut/eat, the lemon chive beurre blanc was cold and gelatinous without much flavor. I am a creature of habit when I find an entree that I enjoy when dining out, so this is the only dish I have ever ordered in my over 20 visits to Fish Restaurant, and underwhelmed is an understatement to say the very least. At this point, it is more like "Fish Bones" than "Fish". They took the delicious out of Fish! read more

What a great place we happened to stop in to have lunch!! The service was very good and they have great options on the menu. We have to go back to sample many of the dishes because we could not possibly eat all the ones that sounded good. Very clean and modern looking. Amazing! Husband and I came here the first week they were open for outdoor dining and we had a great experience! We had calamari which was delicious followed by the crab quesadilla (my fav!) and the mahi tacos. Everything was soooo good! They were also very sanitary, the staff all wore masks and gloves and the seats were set at least 6 feet apart. Drinks were also yummy! We were just here this weekend. The food was quite good. All of the fish was well-prepared and well-priced. Unfortunately, the service was not up to the same standard. The waitress was inattentive and had problems getting our orders right when she was around. My empty bar glass sat on the table for the entire night along with bread plates and leftover appetizer. Very poor service. Timing of each item delivered did not flow properly. We received our entrees without any silverware on the table. This is nice venue in downtown Stamford - very limited bar area and small booth seating, but worth the wait if you come. They have a great Happy Hour special running weekdays until 7pm - halfpriced drinks and apps... so martini's are $5 and apps are $4-6 ish. We entered a pretty empty restaurant at 5:30 pm on a Tuesday after work. All the reviews seemed pretty positive so we were not worried. The place is very clean and inviting. The chorizo and beef empanadas were very tasty with a little kick of pepper. I then had the grilled salmon with green beans and the teriyaki wasabi sauces. It was great. The fish was fresh and cooked perfectly. The green beans were also fresh and cooked to where there was still a crisp crunch as you bit into them - perfect for me. There are lots of places around here to choose from. If you're in the mood for fish not sure why you would go anywhere else. By the time we left they were pretty full. read more

We came for lunch on a Saturday, and we easily grabbed a table in the front window. The food was pretty good quality and came quickly, and the service was attentive. The four of us got two Niçoise salads and two branzinos. The menu was actually quite varied; we were just boring. And for the fish, you got to pick your cooking method, you sauce, your breading (if you wanted it), and your side. We thought the grilled branzino edged out the pan-seared version, and the fish was good quality on both versions. My Brussels sprout side was a bit bland, but the veggies were cooked correctly; perhaps more garlic would have helped. Portion size on all of our dishes was generous. Drinks were well done. Great things to say about this restaurant. A couple girlfriends and I landed here for brunch on a whim last Sunday, and were pleasantly surprised that we had a superb meal, great drinks, and wonderful service. Not to mention the place is very sexy. Thumbs up for me! The selection for the brunch menu is excellent, and the same for the standard seafood menu. I didn't even know what to choose since everything looked divine based on descriptions, and also other diners' plates (hehe). Our trio taste-tested from each another and were excited about everything. I must try the seafood linguine and a couple other items from their menu next time. Right on one of the main streets in town, this place was very clean and nice modern decor. Staff was overall very attentive and nice. Lamb lollipop app was the star of my experience, it was absolutely delicious. Entree was lobster grilled cheese sandwich, which would probably make most people very happy in that it was loaded with lobster. My only issue was that it seemed to be a bit light on the cheese, which I was really looking for a good balance between the two. Overall very nice experience, would definitely return. read more

The food was ok at best. We had the crispy Korean cauliflower, which wasn't that crispy and the sweet thai chili sauce tasted exactly like a bottle of sauce in my refrigerator. The cauliflower wasn't even tossed in the sauce, it was just on the bottom of the platter. We also had the halloumi which was 4 small strips and tasteless. Also had the pork belly lollipops which were under cooked. Most people expect pork belly to be crispy. We shared the pan seared branzino which was plentiful but under seasoned and the mashed potatoes had a hair in it. Don't think we will be going back anytime soon. read more

Great restaurant! Their scallop sliders - amazing. The buns were soft pretzel buns and the scallops were breaded. Their seafood linguine - to die for. The shrimp and the scallops were incredibly fresh. The sun dried tomatoes brought the dish to the next level! To top it off, panko! Who can say no to panko?!?! read more
