Surprised by a few of the meh reviews here- this is the best seafood I've had in Stamford by far. My halibut was perfectly cooked and seasoned, as were the green beans that came with it. A buddy got the tuna with a mango curry sauce that was equally on-point. Girlfriend got the fish and chips, and even that was really good. I like the choose your side and sauce style too. Portions are a little smaller, but between entree and an appetizer (pork belly was excellent) it was plenty. People can complain about price, but it's completely in line with the area, and frankly $40/head for that quality is reasonable. Waitress was sweet, funny, and knew the food well. Maybe I just lucked out on a good night, but I'll happily be back very soon to see if that's the case. read more

As a lover of seafood, I was very excited to try this restaurant while in Stamford for the weekend. The menu looked amazing and so my family and I came here for an early Saturday night dinner. I was able to make an easy reservation through the yelp app and even though we were 20 min late, we were seated right away. Since it was only 6:15, the ambiance was still very casual, child friendly and relaxed. Our server was new (3 days on the job) and quickly brought us someone more knowledgeable on the raw oysters than he was. They both served us throughout the dinner which was nice and attentive. Now, the FOOD.... BEYOND AMAZING!!! To start, the beausoleils oysters (Canadian) were scrumptious!! I'd eat dozens of them if I could! Served with horseradish and cocktail sauce and lemon, they were delicious and my absolute favorite of the night!!! To my surprise there was a children's menu; my daughter enjoyed her pasta with butter and Parmesan cheese. I ordered the Black Sea bass, pan seared with a lemon caper sauce and mashed potatoes. It was very good. I wish the sauce had a bit more lemon flavor, but I still wiped my plate clean. My husband's lump crab stuffed shrimp were divine. The sauce served with it was creamy and flavorful! We skipped dessert, but I have my eye on their cognac pumpkin cheesecake, because we WILL be back!!! I would HAPPILY drive the 40 minutes from NYC for a great meal at Fish again!! NOTE: after 7pm the crowd is more dressed up than casual and no children in sight, so I'd leave my 4 yr old home just because the atmosphere was more adult by then. read more

The menu here is mostly "build your own fish dinner" which is quite a bit risky to leave the flavors and impressions up to the non culinary trained customers to decide what sauce and side to dress their fish with. Generally though the food was excellent. Ordered scallops with risotto and there was waaaay too much risotto! I have passed by this place a hundred times and haven't been in until this past weekend. My friends and I were pleasantly surprised with our experience! The food was AMAZING!! Had dinner here with my wife last Sunday. All I can say is Wow! This restaurant is awesome. Both our meals were excellent. I had grilled swordfish and my wife had blackened salmon. The fish was cooked perfectly and the sauce was delicious. The service was just as good. Our waiter really cared about us having a good experience, made good recommendations and ensured to get our orders in quickly due to the restaurant being packed for the holiday weekend. While our food took some time to get to us we really didn't mind once we tasted it because it was so good. He was even nice enough to comp us with free wine and desert due to the wait. First visit; won't be the last! Planned on a nice celebratory dinner. Had a wonderful meal but never made it passed the appetizers! Tuna carpaccio was delicious -- decent slices of tuna covered a large flatbread easily sharable for 4. For my taste, could have used a touch more wasabi cream, but it was fresh and well presented. Grilled Octopus -- OK, so this dish was so good we had to order two! Plenty of tender octopus with lots of flavors from jumbo capers; olive & spices. Complemented by crispy potatoes & bright haricot vert. This dish was among the very best! Salad -- Endive salad with shrimp and avocado was a real creative delight. Sharp taste of endive cut nicely by the rich avocado and a delicious vinaigrette, and the blackened shrimp were tender and packed with flavor -- no just killer spicy, but killer seasoned. can't wait to go back and try an entree (they looked really good too!), although we may run into the same problem: killer app's! Their trick is to have such absolutely amazing appetizers to lure you into their quite average entrees. Tuna carpaccio is one of the best I have ever had, in fact I don't think I can have it elsewhere, thinly shaven with the perfect amount of wasabi. I'm not a huge (lobster) gnocchi fan, but gosh was it light and delicious. Brussels sprouts and crab cakes would be something I would reorder as well. Lobster was used very sparingly in the mac n cheese and the mahi mahi fish tacos didn't exactly cause a reaction. Fish has become my favorite restaurant... For appetizers. read more

I have been here many times, and always have a great time. The people who work here are friendly and hospitable. The room is beautiful. And the food is excellent. I especially like the lobster & shrimp chowder, and the crab cake. Last time I was here, the restaurant was fairly busy and the order took slightly longer than usual, but really nothing major. Our server apologized several times and then subtracted one of our main dishes from the check, although we hadn't complained about it and weren't upset at all. However, her kind gesture was appreciated. The staff clearly cares about providing a good experience to their clients. read more

Had a great meal here with a friend last night. I had fish tacos, seafood linguini and bread pudding for dessert. Excellent food, portions, and atmosphere. My friend had the pork belly appetizer, scallops over rabe, and apple empanadas for dessert. Great food - great seafood. No complaints on the food quality. But when I tried to go eat there it is always very crowded and if you go as a duce you will be seated like a sardine in a line with no privacy. A bit better in the summer when they have outdoor seating but still just a place to avoid during peak hours. I tried to do take out instead but found myself waiting around for long period for my order to be ready. I just kind of avoid the place as it is too difficult to get a decent seat. This is really a 2.5 star review, but I am being nice and bumping it to 3. I wanted to like Fish better than I did, but this was a very "Meh" experience for me. I was here on a Saturday night around 7:15 with a party of 6. We were seated promptly, which was a plus. This place is L-O-U-D LOUD, as in, I had a sore throat after eating here from yelling at the other people at my table just to have a conversation. I know Saturday night between 7-8 is prime time, and this place was packed, but I'll be damned if I didn't yell "WHAT??" at least 50 times during my meal. Overall, the food, was good to very good, but nothing blew me away. My wife and I split the Shaved Brussel Sprout salad to start, and it was very good and a decent sized portion. 1 star for that. For my entrée, I did a blackened halibut with sautéed spinach and the mango-avocado salsa. For $32, I got MAYBE 5oz of fish. On top of that, I got a piece that was cooked unevenly, so that the thinner portions were overcooked while the thicker portions were cooked properly. Bottom line is, my entrée was severely overpriced based on both quantity and quality. I will say that my wife got the stuffed shrimp and was happy with her choice. For dessert, we split the Key Lime Pie, which was also very good, but was a small piece for the $9 we paid for it. Service was bad. There is no sugar coating it. We had a hard time flagging down people for more water, and when they did come over, they only filled up 1-2 glasses at a time instead of the whole table. WTF? This happened at least 5 times. In addition, plates were cleared before other people at the table were done eating. This is OK at a more casual restaurant, but not at a restaurant that charges what Fish does. Again, just a "meh" experience for me. I probably won't be coming back here for a while. There are many other restaurants in Stamford that I need to try first. read more
