I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was disappointing enough that I won't be returning. We originally came to Fisherman's Warehouse because of Dave. He is incredibly knowledgeable about tuna fishing, does an outstanding job lining reels, and has always treated us with professionalism and respect. He's the reason we've continued to shop there.Unfortunately, our experience with Eric, the manager, has been the complete opposite. My husband stopped in while he was tired and quiet, yet Eric later commented that he came in "crazy," even though my husband hadn't said a word to anyone. That was both unnecessary and disrespectful. This also wasn't our first negative interaction with Eric. On a previous visit while Dave was lining our reels, Eric repeatedly interrupted to tell Dave to make sure we knew we had to pay for the special line marking. We never questioned the charge and had absolutely no problem paying for it. We appreciate Dave's expertise and know quality work deserves to be paid for. When my husband simply said, "It's okay, Dave takes care of me," referring to the excellent service Dave provides, Eric immediately responded, "We all take care of you." The interaction came across as defensive and left us feeling unwelcome. It's unfortunate because Dave is one of the best resources for tuna fishing and reel setup, but management makes the overall experience unpleasant. We'll be taking our business elsewhere, and that's a shame because we genuinely enjoyed working with Dave. read more

In my personal experience, the atmosphere at Fisherman's Warehouse has become uncomfortable because of Eric's management style. On multiple visits, I've witnessed Eric and his wife arguing in front of customers, which made for an awkward shopping experience. I also observed what came across to me as very controlling behavior toward her. I've personally been on the receiving end of several rude comments from Eric over the years, and each interaction has left me feeling unwelcome. Rather than creating a friendly environment, his approach often feels overly critical and focused on micromanaging. It's unfortunate because Dave is excellent. He's knowledgeable, professional, and one of the main reasons we continued shopping there. However, the repeated negative interactions with management have outweighed the positive experiences, and we've decided to take our business elsewhere. read more

No one answers the phone. Want to call and check if they have a specific rod so I don't waste my time

I recently got into fishing with my son, so we went to Fisherman's Warehouse and bought two rods. The very next day, on my first cast, the tip of my rod snapped clean off while reeling in before I even hooked a fish. Based on how it broke, it seemed like a manufacturing defect. I went back to the store hoping they could help, but I was told that once the rod has been used even once it's no longer their responsibility, and I'd have to contact the manufacturer directly. The rod is a Penn Wrath II, for reference. That response was disappointing. When you buy from a retailer, you expect some level of support, especially when a product fails immediately. Just something to be aware of based on my experience, don't expect assistance from the store if there's an issue after purchase. It's alright, I just won't be doing business with them again, and neither will my friends or family. Called in ask for item , they said they had it. Rode motorcycles from vallejo to get a particular drop shot weight, when i walkt in i asked counter staff for grenade fishing weight told aisle 7a, by the time i walked over surrounded by a few employees about my 10 liter hydration backpack pack and my helmet! They didn't even have the fishing weight i called about in stock. Immediately left and went to sportsman's warehouse hassle free! They actually sale guns and ammo yet no headaches or hassles shopping for a particular fishing weight! Walked around looking for over 30 min. Bought 100$ plus of tackle! I had a lot of cash in bag not comfortable giving up my personal belongings to buy 6$ fishing weights that were never in stock at Fishermans warehouse in first place. Staff lied when i called! Not sure exactly why, but I visited a couple other bait shops before going to Fisherman's Warehouse, with no success. We needed some anchovies for halibut fishing. Other bait shops either had no anchovies in stock or the anchovies were ugly and expensive. I made a phone call to the Fisherman's Warehouse and the gentleman checked their stock and let me know they had plenty. I went over and to my delight the price was $3.00 less than the other bait shops. It made for a nice day on the water. read more

Service is not bad as long as you're spending money. The guys working when I went in were attentive once they saw I was there to buy a few reels and poles. The selection is good but when it comes to price, Walmart unfortunately has them beat. They sale licenses there so they can get you hooked up with everything you need. If you're old school and enjoy a conversation with the guys you're doing business with, this may be your spot but if you just want a pole and some bait at the lowest price, this isn't them. read more

Screw this place, won't even let customers use the bathroom here. I was about to buy a fishing pole, some gear for my trip to Mexico and some crab traps, I guess they want you to purchase the stuff first before maybe thinking about letting you use the bathroom. Visited the store a couple of days ago. There was an older gentleman that was very helpful but the style of fishing I was there for was not his expertise. He suggested talking to one of the other kids for any further questions. There were at least four of them all playing a game of who can flip a jig into a coffee can. I asked them a question and there answer was we don't do that style of bass fishing and went back to there game. Not helpful at all. One of them was talking like he was a competitive bass fisherman. Not sure what he does when finesse fishing is the only thing that's working that day. He must not win very much. This is the second time I've been there and it was the same level of customer service that day. I think they work there for the discount. My first time here and I was looking for a new reel and Patrick gave me so much information about reels and rods. I've fished the delta for as long as I can remember but I am new to ocean fishing and Patrick got me covered! He spooled my new Penn Fathom 25nLD with 65lb j braid with 400 yards of line and he even gave me info of how much line is left on each spool guide. Super friendly staff! You'll spend a couple more bucks than online but that's everywhere! They have what you need on the go for not much more. read more

One star since they do have just about everything you could think of. With that being said, everything is over priced and they have two bathrooms that customers can't use. They tell you to go to Taco Bell next door. Poorly run business. When you have customers that are going to drop $400 on a seeker fishing rod, but tell them you can't use one of their two bathrooms; you're a failure. I understand some people leave bathrooms a mess, but that's what cleaning services are for. You're charging top dollar for this gear, so the least you can do is let your customers use the bathroom so they can spend more time in your store buying stuff. I won't be back here again and I'll tell all my fishing friends what to expect. The employees seem nice and helpful, but the bathroom situation is unacceptable. Very friendly and helpful staff. Went in looking for a new rod and reel for striper fishing and they set me up completely with rod/reel combo, new line, swivel and hook totally ready to go. Also helped me pick out jigs and soft plastics. Went fishing the next day and caught 4 striped bass. Super happy with the Okuma reel too. My new favorite fishing store. Wish I could leave a negative star, I purchased 2 fishing poles from this store and both of them broke at the tips as if the were dry rotted. Today I attempted to take them back to get any kind of help and they didn't even try to help, just said nope we don't warranty them nothing we can do...didn't even look at them. I spent money here on several occasions and even sent customers, never again...their lost. Go to Walmart to get your equipment atleast they will stand behind what they sell. read more

Took my Revo MGX to get some line put on it. They stripped the old line then started putting some 8lb. fluorocarbon on if for me. It stopped at 176 yards and was frozen solid. Couldn't turn the spool at all. Handed me the reel and said they didn't know why it did that. They tinkered with it with screwdrivers and just didn't know what they were doing. I finally got the side plate off with great effort and the end of the spool and tons of line came flying out. They had filled it with a lot of tension and blew the end of the spool off. The kid that was filling it was quick to state that "There was no tension on it." but the line was all chewed up. Very rough. It appears it was coming off thier spool then around their mandrel, then onto the reel making it super tight. The other guy tried to blame my level wind for chewing up the line. It is as smooth as can be. I took it off and inspected it under magnification. He also said that Abu thinned out their spools to save weight and they broke all the time. Complaining did no good. They told me to pound sand. Never going back there, Luckily Abu is sending me a replacement spool free of charge. Props to Abu. No props to FW. Bad scoobies. read more

This is by far the best Store in Solano county for the fisherman to handle all your fishing needs and supplies .I am going back today before I make my trip to the coast Salmon fishing. WOW! I purchased a fishing reel for a birthday gift for my husband who was about to go on a long range ocean fishing adventure. It took a little longer than expected and when I emailed to inquire, I was told that it went to wrong address and my neighbor agreed to bring it over. I received an email from the manager explaining the situation and a handwritten apology and gift card from Shelley from the Manteca shipping center. Anyone who has ever worked in customer service (which is most of us) understands that mistakes happen. I certainly do. What is super nice is that top notch customer service still exists in the hearts and souls of big stores like this one. This fact coupled with the excellent inventory, has completely impressed my husband and I. We are customers for life. And that life has A LOT more fishing trips planned! read more
