Rating this store 4 stars for their great customer service. It would have been 5 but there was a return issue... For Christmas my husband both my some Nike sneakers. Unfortunately they were the wrong size. My husband misplaced the receipt and didn't give our telephone number when checking out so they couldn't track down our purchase in store. The associate, Tony, was handling the return said there was nothing he could do. They couldn't look up charges off of cards, like Walmart or Target does. All he offered to take back the shoes without the receipt for store credit for the lowest selling price of TWO DOLLARS What's ridiculous is that there's no way there's their lowest selling price for NEW NIKE SHOES. They don't even sell anything in that store for $2 My husband then asked to speak to manager (Kristian I think was his name) and he just reiterated what Tony had said. Needless to say my husband left the store with the shoes pretty upset. I happened to go into the store at a later date and thought to ask a sale floor associate if it was really true that they couldn't look up charges on a card which he confirmed. I briefly mentioned what had happened and he suggested we bring in our proof of purchase using our card statement and said they might be able to work with that. Doing just that, I returned a few days later. Steven was at the cash register. When I brought him up to speed on the situation, the first time he said was to "call customer service and they should be able to help look up our purchase and email the receipt." Once that was done he could process the return. He promptly gave me the number and guess what?! IT WORKED! It was a short call and the customer service attendant Jakaira immediately emailed me the receipt. Both Steven and the manager Vince helping process the return and it was resolved quickly! Steven and Vince are the reason why I am giving the store 4 stars. They were both so polite and helped return the shoes without an issue. The manager, Victor, needs TRAINING. I didn't even know he was the manager but I asked him whether they had a specific item in stock IN BLACK OR WHITE (I had already looked myself and only found PINK), he said "whatever is out is what we have", I asked can you check on your device? He unwillingly/rushingly scanned the PINK item and stated "Nope that's all we have is PINK". I asked, so not in back either? "No". I could tell he wasn't dilligently looking so I asked another employee if they had the item in BLACK OR WHITE..he found "THREE AVAILABLE" IN BLACK. As he was on the register he only pointed me back to the area I had already looked. I said I already looked there, he said "ok well then we don't have it, whatever is out is what we have" Long story short I looked online and ordered the item for pickup, about 30 mins later I receive a message that my item was ready & drove back to the store to pick it up. I asked to speak to the manager, and I couldn't believe it was the same guy who told me they didn't have it! We all make mistakes right, but it was just the way our initial interaction went that I knew he was being lazy. Further, rather than apologize he double-downed on his explanation that they only had PINK. Like bro I'm holding it in my hand & it says available online? I realized he only scanned the pink item, so of course it didn't bring up the other colors that may or may not be available. He was like upset I found it?? It's just annoying that I was just in the store and all he had to do was take 2 minutes to assist me. There were more employees in the store than customers & nobody could spare a couple minutes to simply look for an item, isn't that apart of the job? I cannot believe the experience I had with this business! I just got back from picking up my bike that I only purchased two months ago. The derailer hangar snapped and needed to be replaced. This is why I left extremely upset! I bought the bike to go on rides with my son. I bought a separate seat that is attached to the middle bar so my toddler can ride with me. Last week during my ride we came across a cross walk where I began to cross and needed to shift gears up as I had just came from climbing a hill. While in the cross walk I began to shift gears down and the chain came apart causing my back wheel to be stuck. I had to carry the whole bike with my son it to the other of the cross walk. The following day - contacted customer service for help. I was placed on hold, then HUNG UP on. I immediately called right back and got the same woman who then told me she could NOT help me because I exceeded the 30 day return. She mentioned that she would have exchanged it but the bike was sold out. She then informed me the only option for me was to contact warranty and she referred me to my manual for the number. Next day - google GT warranty. Department was closed after 5. (Called when I was off work) Day after - called warranty and was transferred to a different warranty because they handled my brand bike and found out the department was CLOSED due to COVID. I then contact DICKS customer service and some guy answered who seemed like he just woke up out of his sleep and was high. I couldn't even believe it. He was so out of it... slurring his words... couldn't remember the things he was saying... and his sentences didn't even make sense! He told me that the bike had a 90 day return policy and to bring it to the store for return. Because of my strange interaction with him I contacted my local Dick's sporting goods and spoke to the manager Becky. I told Becky my experience and asked her if it was true that I could return my bike. She told me that it was not and told me she understood the frustration with warranty as she has experienced the department being closed as well. She made me feel understood and knew exactly what I was talking about. She told me to bring the bike in the store and that we could fix it. She gave me a heads up that it would be a first come first serve and I was fine with that as I was in no rush and just wanted the bike fixed. I offered to buy the part on Amazon as it cost about $20 and could possibly get it quicker than if they had ordered it. She told me not to come out of pocket that the store would just go through warranty. I was so happy to have spoke to her because I thought finally some good service. Next week - I bring my bike in. I walk to the back where I knew the bikes were located and came across Bob who mentioned he was about to be off and to go the front where I will need to fill out papers. So I go back to the front and waited to fill out papers. The girl assisting me was helping so many other people I was just standing there. Not to mention I had my 3 yo old who wasn't as patient. I filled the paper work Bob comes to the front and tells ME what happened to my bike. Basically telling me that I dropped my bike (which I never did) that he can tell because of the scuff marks (my bike came with no kickstand and when riding my bike I def brush the pedal against the wall when I come to a stop at a bench) he mentioned the oil on my spokes came from the chains coming off because the hangar bent when I dropped it. Which wasn't true. Before bringing it my son had been spinning where the gears shift and was touching the spokes with hands. The fact that they were causing me what I DID with my bike made me feel a type of way. I didn't argue with him because that's what he thinks after fixing bikes for a long time that no matter what I said wasn't going to change his mind. 2 days later - Bob calls me to tell me my bike is fixed and ready to go! He was very pleasant to speak with and although I felt a way from him telling me what I did to my bike I was just happy that he fixed it so fast! He was kind and told me he was able to fix it faster than usually was because he had an extra part from a previous bike he had to fix. He told me I would not be charged for any labor and to just pay for the hangar. I expressed my appreciation because I anticipated it being there longer and told him I'd come after work to pick it up. While I didn't mention it to him that Becky told me warranty would take care of it I waited until I got to the store with hopes of Becky being there. Arrival - I go to the back and push the button since no one was in the section. Steven comes over and was RUDE from the get go. I let him know that I pushed the button and he was like "OKAY." I was expecting him to say something else and he just stared at me so I said "I'm here to pick up my bike" and he was like "Okay... name?" I'm leaving this review based on a negative experience I had while picking up an Uber Eats order from this location. I frequently shop at Dick's Sporting Goods and also deliver with Uber Eats. During this visit, I arrived to pick up an order under the name "Christopher," which matched the information and order number on my phone. Despite clearly showing both the name and order number--standard procedure for Uber Eats pickups--I was told by the employee assisting me that the customer needed to add me to their email in order for the order to be released. This requirement was unusual and confusing, as it's not a standard practice in my delivery experience. Out of the many orders I fulfill, simply presenting the name and order number has always been sufficient. This interaction felt unnecessarily difficult and, frankly, left me feeling as though I was being treated differently, potentially due to racial bias. As a result, I lost valuable time and the order itself. This location should review its pickup procedures and ensure all customers and delivery drivers are treated fairly and consistently. read more

I went to Dick's to purchase a coat with my disabled wife. The sales clerk at the front was very rude to me. I called corporate while on site at the establishment, gave them my review and told them exactly what happened. They told me some would call me back within 24 hours. It is now been 48 hours and I have yet to receive a call back, regarding the matter I would like to say this is a horrible establishment and I would never shop here again and I make sure to tell all my friends and family never shop at Dick's Sporting Goods. I went to the Golf a department today and was very impressed with the young man working there named Tony; he had a great attitude and some real passion and knowledge about the products they carried. Tony gave me the opportunity to test run a few drivers and with his helpful suggestion, I was able to find a driver that best suited my swing style; the Sim 2 driver he paired me with during the test was incredible. When I pressured Tony with buying questions he handled it well and even shared an option that I was unaware of. Did you know that if you open a credit card with Dicks it is interest free for 24 months?! I do now. Plenty of time to pay off the driver. I don't know if Tony is a manager, but he has the potential to be one if given the opportunity to grow and is encouraged by good leaders. Hopefully the team around him has his great attitude; because this man could make Dicks some serious money if they help him grow in the company. What I enjoyed about Tony's approach is that I never felt like he was pressuring me; he was just trying to help me with what I needed. That is the definition of a great sales man. If you are buying a bike here, you must have Bob the bike technician double check your bike before leaving. We bought two bikes here and the one from Bob had no issues. This gentleman has superb customer service skills. I was left with a sour taste in my mouth for Dick's Sporting Goods after leaving The Pleasant Hill location (please read my review below). So I called the Fairfield store to see if I could do it there. Without holding any bias towards the Pleasant Hill location the Store Manager at Fairfield listened to my situation and exhausted every avenue possible for every possible scenario possible. Told me what I can do or can't do. He told me if he had this particle bag he would be able to do it but unfortunately they didn't. He was so apologetic about what I had to go through even tho it wasn't his fault. Thank you sir for being the manager that you are. The employees under your wing is very lucky to have a leader like yourself. Keep up the good work. *The review I left for Pleasant Hill* I came today to see if I could exchange a gift I received right before businesses started to close due to the Shelter in Place orders took into effect. I didn't want a refund nor a different bag. I wanted the same exact bag just in a different color. I spoke to the cashier right by the entrance. I told the young man my situation letting him know I don't want a refund, credit, I wanted the same exact bag just in a different color. He was very polite and helpful and told that would be fine just as long as I get the same exact bag. So I proceeded to head upstairs and located where the same exact bags were located and debated which color I wanted. As I head to the checkout I even double checked with the helpful young man to see if I were to go straight to him or get back in line. He told me to line up and they'll take care of me. It was another cashier that rung me up. I had to explain my situation again but he told me I needed a receipt. Much to my confusion I explained again that it was a gift. He stated well I needed a gift receipt which I didn't have because the person that gifted it to me didn't give me. Than he says you can bring in their card if they paid in card?!? My relative that got it for me lives out of state and I'm suppose to get their card? Than he suggests I can ship it to them! I mean how rude would that be to hassle my relative who went out of their why to get me this bag just for an even exchange!? Even on my way out the young man who was helping me was a little perplexed and asked "what happened??" I told him what the other cashier told me and he was like "what???". Totally confusing and frustrating to be mislead today. I could understand if I were trying to get a refund of some sort, yeah I get it. I've been a general manager for a major retail chain, but for even fair exchange for the same exact product just in a different color. I don't know but the GM for this location needs to have another training for all their employees, not just cashiers on their return-exchange policy because it seems like nobody knows what it is. If ever a store was in need of more employees this is the one. I was looking online for a chair umbrella and found that Dicks had three or four on hand for $9.99. I went to the store and asked an associate where the chair umbrellas were and they directed me to the area where the folding chairs are. Fine I said I think I can what I'm looking for. I got to the area with the folding chairs were and I looked, and I looked, and I looked. I decided I needed help but I could not find an associate. As I scanned the store I could not find anyone who looked like an employee. So it was back to the lone checkout at the front. After waiting for her to finish with a sale I asked about the umbrellas. Let me check the inventory she says. Yes, it shows that we have a few in stock by the chairs. I looked I replied, I didn't find them. Ok, let me get someone to help. I walked back to the area of the chairs and eventually an associate came by and found the umbrellas. I picked out two and went up front to the lone checkout to purchase my chairs. Again she was busy helping someone with a lengthy return and by this time I really had to use the bathroom. So off I headed to the restroom, with was at the opposite end of the store. What do I find? The doors are locked with a keypad. That meant I had to hunt down an associate to get the code for restroom. Not wasting my time at this store again! read more

This Dicks location has horrible customer service. My husband and my son went in tonight to buy a particular baseball bat for my son he plays High School baseball. However there was only one bat left with the measurements required for him and the wrapping on the handle of the bat was unraveling (a defect). So my husband ask to speak to a manager to see if they could offer a discount or perhaps rewrap the bat free of charge. So the cashier called over the manager which he wasn't wearing a name tag. My husband showed him the problem with the bat. The manager acknowledged the problem but refused to provide a discount as well as offer to help re wrap the bat and told my husband "Oh well i cant help we dont give discounts and if you want to purchase tape you can rewrap the bat yourself. But that will be a additional $15"! Just so you know the purpose price for the bat was already over $100 Well it doesn't end there... my son really needed that particular bat so my husband was willing to buy the defected bat and the tape to fix it but when my husband and son were in line the cashier kept staring at both of them like they were going to steal something. That was it my son and husband left the store didnt purchase anything. So overall it was the worst experience they ever had at a Dicks Sporting goods and we will never shop there again. Recently, I went to Dick's Sporting Goods to try on some exercise pants and tops, I was given a Dressing Room and I asked the Sales Girl for a Sports Bra (she had already opened the door for the Dressing Room). She didn't ask my size and didn't offer to retrieve one for me. This is poor service! What am I supposed to give up the Dressing Room and have her come back to open it? In brief: Poor customer service, limited shoe inventory I arrived to the shoe department here in Fairfield and my experience was not pleasant. There was no employee in sight to help me find a shoe. I approached the cashier and she contacted someone via radio. She stated "he just stared at me." She instructed me to return to the shoe department, no one approached me. I was comparing two shoes. The Nike zoom commando vs the Nike metcon 4, both training shoes with a $30-40 price differential. The Nike zoom commandos did not have my size in a desirable color yet they had one on clearance in an undesirable color. I discovered the fit was not as comfortable as compared to the Metcon 4. I approached the counter to check out and the shoe clerk was purchasing from the said cashier. She asked me "did someone help you out?" I responded, "no, I helped myself." She apologized and gave me a $30 discount. This is the second poor experience I had at Dick's, today in Fairfield and yesterday In Concord.
