I left my catch at the dock for Fisherman's Processing to process and send to me Fedex. A couple of days later I called and inquired what this will cost. I was told that the cost would be approximately $55.00 plus fedex shipping. I authorized Fisherman's processing to place this charge on a credit card. Nothing was mentioned about a box fee. Imagine my surprise when I received fish, order form and credit card receipt showing a $45.00 fee for a styrofoam box. I called Fisherman's processing, pointing out that no one mentioned this fee. They refused to issue a credit. Never again. read more

We prescheduled a Sunday drop off for 23 passengers from Colorado with FP's office. Sunday morning we ubered 23 passengers to the office and trucked our fish there courtesy of the boats crew. Upon arrival with 1800lbs of YFT from a 2.5 day trip, we were turned down and stranded with no way to get our fish back to Colorado. Their response was "oh well, not my problem." read more

I came back from a 1.5 day trip with a bunch of yellowtail and a few tuna. These guys took care of me and the guys on the boat incredibly. Our fish weren't big enough for smoking, but they allowed us as a group to get them smoked. They take pride in the way they cut your meat. Its way better and more precise than some of the deck hands that sometimes mutilate your fish and stuff them in bags that don't seal in the scent of fish from your car. The smoked fish was INCREDIBLE. The jerky INCREDIBLE!! and they vacuum seal and label everything as if you were buying from a grocery store. This place makes fishing fun!!! read more

I came back from an 8 day trip aboard the independence and spoke to Sean at the docks. Sean is the owner of Fishermans Processing. I spoke to him about processing my fish and he was very nice and customer focused. I felt confident Fishermans processing was the place to get all my fish filleted and packaged. They were able to process my 400 pounds of fish within an hour and a half. Not to share all the details but upon picking up my fish i was not happy. To make a long story short, i emailed Sean and explained to him my concerns. Sean got back to me within a half hour. He assured me that he would make it right what ever it was that was wrong. Well, Sean did exactly what he said he would do. He made things right and i am a very happy customer. Fishermans Processing is a solid and honest company. I would definitely process fish their again. Very disappointed! I typically use their competitor, but tried their jerky at Fred Hall show, and thought it was worth a try. They wouldn't give me a total weight at the docks, didn't do the jerky, mixed some of the fish luckily with an acquaintance and the yield was less than typical. read more

In October I had my fish processed here since they could get me on the road the fastest. In the past I have used the women to do my fish, but they were backed up. Well, 6 months later over 1/2 of my fish is unsealed and starting to get freezer burned. I am sorry I did not wait for what I know. From now on I will only use 5 Star fish Processing and the ladies. If I lived closer than a full days drive I would dump my fish that I paid thousands of dollars to catch in their office. read more

I don't go on anything shorter than a 1.5 day anymore so I can use these guys. They put out a product you can't beat, keeps for a long time, and is table ready, they trim all the junk off so you don't have to. Rosie is so on it that you have complete confidence. Absolutely amazing service. I came in on a Saturday 30min before they closed and the lady, Rosie or rosa, told me that she would handle what ever we needed. They packaged our stuff up to be ready for flight the next morning. It was boxed and frozen perfectly with gel packs and all the needed seals. Absolutely recommend them. read more

Was able to email my processing request to them the day before our fishing trip. That made me number one on the priority list when we got back 5 days later. They did a phenomenal job with the fish. The girls up front were very genuinely friendly. One even shoed me the 260 lb tuna she had caught! You can observe the process or hang out in the waiting area. Even though another boat had docked prior to ours, and they were processing their fish first, they still had mine completed in about an hour. We got 39 lb of tuna meat from 112 lbs (2 tunas) we brought. When we asked why so little (after visual inspection) they said that for bluefin tuna 20-25 % meat from total weight of the fish its normal. read more

One of the best customer experiences I have ever had! There was a mix up with my fish processing, that I did not catch until I had already returned home, and when I contacted them to discuss it, they were nothing short of flawless in their handling of the situation in all aspects. 1.) I was able to speak with a manager on my first call. 2.) I was told the owner would call me back and he did within 24 hours. 3.) When I explained what the issue was, Sean immediately explained what happened and took responsibility for remedying the situation. 4.) They were honest, professional and courteous at all times and their follow through was exceptional. They may not be the least expensive option in town, but they are definitely the best and I would not consider going somewhere else. read more

My boyfriend's dad just went on a 10 day fishing trip and this company Fisherman's Processing were available right there for pick up at the dock if you wanted their service. And u definitely want it if you have a lot of fish. When we got to their location which was like a 7 minute drive I found it to be very clean. You can see how clean the place is from the outside and also inside. We met a guy named Zac and he was very friendly and informative. He told us how tediously they clean where the fish are fileted and by tye looks of it they maintain the place very well. Also, his mom Rosie who also works there is just as friendly and informative, shared a few yummy fish recipes with me. Excited to try them out! And everyone who worked there seemed happy to be there. Oh yeah and the way they fileted the fish and packaged it looked like it was ready to be sold. They even label it:) great customer service, clean, and the processing was excellent. Recently paid Fisherman's Processing to process over 80 lbs of fish (you pay to process the whole weight of the fish with head, bones etc) I received less that 17 lbs of fish back. That is a less that 20% yield on fish where there should be 50-60% yield. Where did the rest of my fish go? Kind of convenient that Fisherman's Processing now sells tuna burger. read more

These guys are amazing. I just went on a great fishing trip with the Royal Polaris and needed to get the fish home as affordable as possible. Thinking it would be a small fortune to ship it across the county, my wife, unknown to me had made a reservation with Fisherman's Processing. I spoke with the man in charge and he mentioned that he spoke to my wife and should be able to turn my fish around in time for my 10 am flight home. Wow - honesty and service. At no point did he promise he could get it done, but said he would do his best - I appreciate that as it still allowed me to make alternative arrangements. To his word, they did their best with time to spare... they actually had the fished processed and packed before my wife could pick me up for the airport! Amazing. I had some fish when i got home from a 4 hour flight... so good and packaged as advertised. 5 star service all around. Thank you to you and your great team! read more

Met these guys at dock after a five day. Had a large number of fish to smoke and fillet. One fish was over 140 lbs. + They should have said at the time of my reservation, which I made in their office, one month ahead of trip, that they would not fillet any fish less than ten pounds, so I could get it filled on the boat. What they said was, "come back next year, and maybe we will be processing those fish". I don't and did't know what this meant. They misplaced my reservation...but ironically gave me a locker number in case my boat was late. My biggest complaint is that the owner and his wirey specktled assistant were really incredibly rude. To treat a previous customer and a seemingly current one with such disrespect is typical of this company's management. They treat you like jerks and are disorganized as hell. I have always believed in customer service, but this company's management will lose my business and everyone I can tell within the fishing community. The club I belong to only fishes long range. Don't use this company. read more

Never had better smoked fish. I brought in a yellowtail a little while back after a recommendation from a good friend of mine. I was expecting a nasty, stinky, run down place. Nope. The building is cleaner and smells better than my own room. Fantastic service from all the employees/managers i met gave the place a really comfortable feeling. The whole building is covered with photos of sea life and looks very modern. Although the place overall is fantastic, the people are what made it worth 5 stars. Fantastic. read more

My husband and I went to San Diego for vacation this month with no plans of fishing. However, when my husband saw the fish reports, we had to plan a trip. The first time we went out, we got in after all the fish processors were closed so we had the deckhands just fillet our fish. We bought some Styrofoam coolers and ice and iced them down overnight before heading to Fisherman's for processing. We had 90 pounds of fillets but knew we would yield much less when we got them back as fillets, since the bloodline and imperfections that are cut out do add up. I know this because I kept a few of the fillets to eat while we were on vacation and had to clean them myself. I ended up with about half the fillets after I cut all the yucky stuff off. They shipped the fish to my husband's parents house overnight and they were received on time. My inlaws said the tuna was soooo good that it melted in their mouths! I mentioned the above because I read another review giving a very poor rating saying that they were ripped off and didn't get all their fish back. Since we did so well on the first trip, we decided to go out again. We knew the boat would get back after Fisherman's was closed again so we called ahead to get instructions to use their drop box. After an ok day (not near as good as the week before), our boat got in really, really late. We headed to the dropbox at Fisherman's but there was a problem with the lock so we were unable to drop the fish off. We had kept the fish whole this time for cheaper & easier processing and had nothing to keep 4 LARGE dorado in since our room didn't even have a bathtub. As I mentioned earlier, we did NOT plan on fishing this trip so had no coolers large enough for whole fish with us. At this time of night, nothing would be open except for Walmart and we already knew they didn't have any coolers large enough. We were dog tired after the long trip and it was well after midnight so we just drove back to the harbor and gave the fish away to one of the deckhands who hadn't gone home yet. We contacted Rosie at Fisherman's about the problem with the dropbox the next day and since the issue was on their end, they made good and gave us the fish we lost! I was very impressed with their professional response and willingness to make things right for us. For the second year in a row, against the peas of my peers, I made reservations with FP to have my catch processed. I made reservations many weeks ahead, and was bumped by a group who paid to have priority. I was told this when I asked an employee! our fish were cut LAST, and I received NONE of the front halves of my yellowtail fillets... I was repeatedly lied to regarding the reservation, and our position for cutting. We were made to wait almost 4 hours. Never Again! read more

I have gone with Fisherman's Processing for the last 8 years and always had pretty good service. But this year will be my last. There was a lady that use to work there who was always very good about getting my fish processed within a reasonable time. I don't know if she is still there or not but the sevice I received this year stunk. I asked that my fish be kept seperate from someone else who went with me and it wasn't done. The dinggy little blonde that took my reservation claims she told me they do the long range boats first. She never told me that untill the day I came in and no one was at H&M to pick up my fish I had to go chase them down. She claims she called me the same dNext year I will go with Five Star. read more

After a 2.5 day trip, I hired this company to process my fish. Overall, their communication regarding pricing was poor. I was well aware that smaller fish would cost $1.70/lb to process, but the pretty young lady at the dock told me that my other larger fish would cost $0.95/lb to process. When I picked up my fish, I was charged 1.70/lb for all of the fish. They informed me that all of my catch was considered small fish. This was in direct conflict to what the woman at the dock told me. I would have never used their company had I known that this would be my charge for all of the fish. I ended up paying an exorbitant amount for not much fish. I know from past experience that their competitors would not have charged so much for my larger fish. I definitely would not use this company in the future. I recommend going with Five Star or Sportsman's Seafood for more transparent pricing. Live and learn... read more

It's so nice when things get done the way they are supposed to. I knew my boat was coming back late on a Sunday, so I called the previous Friday and got a secret code. After a chaotic return from a two day trip (the boat came in to shelter Island at the same time as a concert was supposed to start at humphries, and it was Labor Day weekend, so the traffic was gridlock - my wife was coming to pick me up and couldn't get through so she was pissed- then there was a delay offloading the fish and so on) the transaction with Fisherman's was flawless. I got there after hours tired and stinky, but the secret code worked and the colored Ty-raps were there so all I had to do was tag my eight fish and lock the gate. Got home, cleaned up and went to bed. The next day Fisherman's called me and I picked up beautifully prepared, vacuum-sealed, single meal packages of yellowfin. It was great. Totally worth the $67.00. Excellent experience. read more

When I do 10 to 15 day trips I call miss Rose in advance and make a reservation which is a well kept secret when a boat returns with over 24 tons of tuna like my trip did last Sat these guys got the ice carts going on for RSW product handling at its finest. That portion a few hundred pounds of fillets I was able to pick up in less than an hour and be on my way north for a 1-2 hour drive. The balance of the cow's need time to unthaw before they can be worked on because not all the fish on the big tuna trips can be preserved RSW style because of the shear volume of fish caught. The balance of my catch will be waiting for me when I drive back down. I have gone with these guys since the late 90s and not much has changed except the new gleaming facility where at one time in the early 70's was part of the Navy where boot camp was conducted. My old barracks are now some yuppie park with yoga and all the glitz. How times change...... read more
