As we started chatting and checking out the menu, Shelia came to greet us and answered a few questions. She took our order and promised to be back soon. A few minutes later, fresh food arrived, and it was delicious! Our conversation quieted as we both became busy eating and enjoying our meal. As we ate, the Drake's team would stop by to remove unused plates. Our drinks were never too low, and the service was attentive but never intrusive. Jamal, on his first day, was there removing trash and used plates from the table. Amanda stopped by with drink refills, and I quickly realized the team at Drake's was operating like a well-oiled machine. Everyone was pitching in, smiling, sharing friendly conversation, and answering questions as they came up. At the end of the meal, we paid and tipped. On the way out, I spoke to the manager, Anyea, and shared my appreciation for the food, service, and positive energy her team had brought to our experience. I asked her what the team at Drake's wanted their community to know about their business. She responded that they specialize in beers, burgers, sushi, and fun. From our booth near the bar we could see water dripping down from the ceiling onto the floor and a couple of other nearby booths. A few employees were cleaning up the water but I wondered what the source of the water was since it had not been raining. Service has always been good enough here. As for the reason we came, the seafood boil. I got the Plant Power (potato, corn, broccoli) and added boiled eggs. I got it "juicy style" which is all of the seasonings, and chose medium for my spice level. Everything was great, the eggs were over cooked a bit, but good nonetheless. My spouse got the Mr Captain (Snow crab, sausage, shrimp, potato, corn, egg) with the same spice & level. He was not pleased with the shrimp overall, and could have done without it overall. I tried some of the crab, and can confidently say it was the best thing we ordered and I am a huge fan of crab now! The crab wasn't as meat-y as we hoped and overall it was a lot of work to crack open for such a small amount of meat. Since we are new to the seafood scene, I'm not sure if it's normal to have that little of meat in snow crab. Overall, we will be coming again to try more things. The must haves for us would be crab (duh!) and those Cajun fries!
