There was a launch that was happening at 5:15 pm so we sat upstairs at the bar. The bartenders Rob and Hillary were amazing. So friendly. We enjoyed a couple happy hour drinks. My husband had a mojito and said it was delicious and refreshing. We enjoyed two appetizers- the grilled Brie was so good. The bang shrimp was a good portion and very tasty. 4 Stars for a great location and views as well as friendly service. It's been years since I had been to Fishlips and I finally had a chance during a recent beach trip. This restaurant is not far from Canaveral and Cocoa beach and it's a great option for waterfront views of the giant cruise ships as they head out of the port. We were lucky enough to get a table in the covered outdoor patio (there's an uncovered part too). Our server, Lisa, was lovely and gave us the recommendation to get the black bean and corn dip along with our seafood. It was a solid rec! We also absolutely devoured the peel-your-own shrimp shareable appetizer and the mussels. The mussels come in a white wine sauce that is so absolutely delicious that you'll want to tip the bowl into your mouth after you're done soaking the accompanying bread in the flavorful broth! The only dish we didn't enjoy is the oysters. They're Gulf oysters and the menu mentions some treatment they do on the oysters to prevent any harmful bacteria. The oysters come out served on ice and they're larger than any I've ever seen before. Though I added some of the cocktail sauce and lemon that comes with the dish, I had a hard time chewing and swallowing them. It was pretty unpleasant, so I left the rest. Other than that one dish though, everything was really tasty! *Note: they have a vegetarian section of the menu, so don't worry if you have non meat and seafood eating! I have been to this location several times. Usually, the food and service are okay. However, on my last visit, the food was what I expected, but the service was terrible. I made the mistake of sitting at the bar upstairs. I arrived at 7:00 PM and left at 9:00. There was one other couple at the bar, and I thought I was invisible. I had to walk around the bar to get any service. I start with shrimp and a drink. It took a very long time for the shrimp to come out. I finished my drink and sat waiting for someone to come back. I should have left because I didn't think it could worsen, but I was wrong. I finally found the bartender and ordered another drink, a salad, and an entree. I would have expected the salad to come out first, but no. It took 30 minutes for the salad and entree to come out together. The bartender put the lid on the basket so the entree would not get cold while I was eating my salad. So I would not eat cold fish; I had to eat the entree first, then the salad. It would be common sense not to bring out the salad and entree at the same time, but it was obvious he did not have any common sense and did not care to do the basics of his job I recommend against sitting at the bar or eating at Rusty's or Grills, where they at least appreciate your business read more

We had a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc and a few cocktails to start on a Thursday evening. For dinner, we had shrimp, swordfish, and I opted for the seafood diablo, which was quite tasty, if messy. When first seated on the patio, we were in the sun and Kaylee graciously offered to reseat us farther down the mostly empty deck. Later, as the sun dropped lower, we were back in the hot sun without umbrellas or an awning. The food (shrimp, swordfish, and seafood pasta, and chocolate-cake dessert) were all a hit. I went here twice in a week. First time was just to relax and enjoy the outdoor ambiance, over viewing the ocean water. It was quite pleasant. The 2nd time was to watch a Rocket launch and a NFL playoff game. Both visits was outstanding! I received good service and good food. The prices were decent and reasonable. I came here for dinner the night before a cruise, and we enjoyed it. The scenery on that back deck is outstanding. The vibe is laid back and beachy and fun. Our server was nice and attentive. We shared a ton of appetizers, and I had a margarita. I did think one thing was strange. All the food comes to you served in steamer baskets. Like I thought someone must have ordered dumplings at a nearby table, but then my chowder came in one, and all my other items. The ice cream at the end was her favorite part. The cup of milk is a decent solo cup size. I had the snapper. It was cooked well and the hollandaise sauce was amazing! There was something in the taste fish/crab that was very mediocre. Not every bite. More sauce would have masked it. The asparagus would have been better grilled. It was maybe boiled a little too long. The ends needed to be bent/snapped off to get the touch inedible parts off. The rice was just plain, which was fine bc I didn't eat it. My husband got the mahi with a mango salsa and some kind of drizzle over it. He really enjoyed his. So not the worst, not the best. I loved that they had a lot of non fried options. Bottom Line: The View They've got the view AND they've got a pretty consistently good kitchen AND the prices are in line for the area. Lobster Bisque $8.98 - Delicious! My friend had the Clam Chowder. If you weren't comparing it to the bisque - it was good, but the Lobster Bisque def wins. Calamari $12.99 - hot and fried perfect - just enough not to be soggy. I always get the Calamari. Sesame Tuna Salad $15.99 - Large and filling. Lots of Tuna that tasted fresh. The dressing on the salad was delicious. Lots of Avocado too. Magi Mahi Sandwich $13.99 - always in the rotation. Nice size piece of fish. It's always been firm and tastes fresh. Mahi Rueben $15.99 - one of my favorites. It's like a grilled cheese with fish. Mahi Mahi Tacos $13.99 - they are good I just personally find the other Mahi options I mentioned more filling. If you want a Mahi option that is slightly lighter then go for the tacos. I usually have beer when I'm here. There's a standard tap menu - nothing special in the Craft category but if you drink beer there's one there for you. Service is usually normal bar/restaurant service. They work hard in the crazy heat and they are often busy. They serve most dishes in a kind of Asian Bamboo steamer type thing. Being on the canal it's cool to see the cruise ships and there is usually some dolphins swimming by too. Bottom Line: as a local it is one of my favorite local seafood/bar places AND always a fun spot to take visitors. read more

What a great surprise. It surpassed my expectations for a solid experience. It is more of a lunch after the beach, or drinks with friends while out for a night out type of place. The appetizers were average, mostly fried stuff, but the Tuna Poke was tasty. The mahi mahi entree with mango salsa and coconut rice is truly what stole the show. It was a delightful combination of flavors that left a lasting impression. The beer was cold and refreshing, and our server was great, making for an enjoyable afternoon out. The atmosphere and the view were great. I did not find the restaurant area too loud (at least when I was there). The kids ordered their meals from the kids menu... They really like the fried shrimps with fries. The kids meal includes a cup of ice cream (vanilla or chocolate)! Mussels were great and fresh! The white wine broth was light and full of flavor. The coconut shrimps were also good, they were a decent size and the coconut rice was yummy! The food came out in Dim Sum bamboo steamers and no dim sum inside (WTH)! Weird but I suspect most people there doesn't even know about anything dim sum. I got baked cod with baked potatoes and veggies (sides were already chosen for this order in the menu). The cod was great, veggies were good, but the potatoes may have been baking for over 5 hours. The family came here the day before we boarded a cruise as we flew in and were staying in the area. We came on a weekday which was GREAT because of the happy our specials. Food: We got the coconut shrimp, alfredo for kids (not on the menu but they hooked it up for us), popcorn shrimp for kids, steamed clams, and a couple of beers. All the food was excellent and really well priced. The best part of it for me was that the beer that was a few dollars for a pint. Good selection and for this west coast fool, getting Yeungling for cheap was a treat. I also ordered a "cup" of clam chowder that was bigger than my face. WTF... so much chowder so good. Service: As mentioned above, they hooked it up for the kid's alfredo. It wasn't on the menu but the server asked if we could get one to the chef/manager and they said yes! We made a trip to watch our daughter play tennis in Cocoa Beach and found ourselves starving after the match. We got word of Fishlips. It was awesome. We walked right in with no wait to a waterside seat, perfect ambiance in the shade. Our waiter immediately greeted us and took our order.
