Here is everything you need to know about fit foot- from someone who has gotten 30-40 massages here over the last 5 or so years. To really appreciate fit foot and the bargain one hour special, you need to go enough times to find a really good masseuse. (There is a WIDE range of skill level amongst the massage staff.) Once you find a good one, ask for their name and request him/her on the phone when you make your appointments. I've had the best massages of my life here, where I've walked out feeling like a new woman. Luckily, I was able to request my fave person and had a few periods of time where I went regularly and got really great deep tissue massages for a bargain. I've also had some extremely bad massages here that amount to someone gently rubbing cheap lotion on my body and feet and calling it a massage. News- rubbing lotion on someone without any pressure is not a massage! I've also had one massage here where the person coughed the entire time. This is a great spot if you are looking for an all body massage with no fuss with some reflexology. They have what looks like flat lazy boys with foot stools for you to lay down for your massage. They have these stations right next to each other in a row in the same room in a dark lit room with relaxing music. It was a relaxing massage. You keep all your clothes on and make sure you wear pants you can roll up so that they can soak your feet. They do not go easy and really work on those knots which I really liked but I would caution them beforehand if you have a low pain tolerance. I really like the dim lighting and the relaxing music. So here is the low down. There are a total of three reflexology places in this vicinity that I'm aware of. This review will be posted on all three businesses so you wouldn't have the same dilemma I had - who do I choose?! Because on paper everything is identical. Remember, most reflexology places consist of one open room and multiple recliner massage chairs. Don't expect privacy. 1) Relax Feet There are different combinations of massage location/duration. For example, 1) 60 min reflexology to include x amount of minutes to the feet, body, and back 2) Express 20 min 3) 90 min reflexology 4) 60 min for strictly back and feet. They are pretty clear about the break down on time for each site and the cost which is great because you choose what is right for you. I have been here twice. The first was for a 60 min massage, 30 min to back and 30 min to feet. This was $45 which was steep for a reflexology place. This was well suited for me because I carry a lot of stress in my upper back. The second visit was the 60 min reflexology massage for $28. It consisted of a 30 min foot massage, 15 min back massage, and 15 min head/neck/shoulder/arm massage. I also thoroughly enjoyed this massage even though the back massage was only really 10 minutes. In terms of consistency. I think they all follow a structured program. It doesn't really matter who you get a massage with, it will be identical in format. The only difference would be the pressure because some people are stronger than others. This particular place is clean. The ambience is nice. The room is dim and quiet. The staff are friendly. They accept credit cards but prefer you to tip cash. Small amount of free parking in front and across the street. 2) Foot Smile Spa This place has similar parameters as above in terms of massage breakdown and duration. On a positive note, you get a $3 credit for checking in. The cost is the same for their special reflexology , $28 (not including the check in discount). This place seems more zen than the others. I prefer the decor here much better. It's a little more simple, modern, and elegant. The decor zen is countered with the little rug rats grunting and screaming "hiiyah" in their karate class next door. Not relaxing. The parking here is much better than the other two. It is further down on Fullerton where there are less businesses taking up all the spots. This place also takes credit cards. 3) Fit Foot The only difference between this one the the other two is that it is $29 for the special reflexology and they only accept cash. No privacy, you are in a room with tons of beds. They're are people next to you (2 ft away) and it just feels uncomfortable. And it just does look or feel clean. I was uncomfortable the entire time and actually worried. They called me 15 mins before my appointment to ask if they can push my appointment back 30 mins because they were running behind schedule. I agreed, and when we got there they took another 15 mins on top of the 30 mins that I kindly gave them. Horrible service. The people that own/work there are not professionals. Never been to a foot place before, wasn't sure what to expect. Walked it and saw a line of beds so it wasnt a private room or anything like a standard massage parlor would be. Overall, I felt like a well marinated Chicken by the time i was done. If they cooked food, that sh*t would be super flavorful. The lady who worked on me clearly knew it was my first time there, she threw me and my legs around like they were nothing, i was basically man handled but honestly, i didnt mind. If given an option to upgrade from 30 minutes to 60 minutes do it! It's worth it. I once had someone explain to me the foot point correlations to your body. I don't remember it well but I think that the big toe corresponds to your brain, nose and neck and so forth. Now I know that it's called reflexology. I was not sure what to expect from Fit Foot and frankly it was a little intimidating experience with the quiet room as it's nothing like a brief home foot massage that I am used to. My session was with a massage therapist who did not speak much but had very strong hands and massaged deep into my feet. I almost wished I had the foot chart in front of me just to see which points they were doing. The pressure was OK, I think that maybe they could have a pressure chart and you could point at your preferred pressure. Oh my gosh, I was just thinking of this massage place today and how I'm in dire need of one again. As a college student on a budget, I will be the first to recommend this establishment. Honestly, my massage was so good, I went back to get another while on vacation. I'm from Florida, and there are no places like this back home. A massage will run you at least $60+, so make sure you're extra nice and too your masseuse generously. I don't recall my masseuses name, but he was a male and the massage was awesome. He started by soaking my feet in a plastic covered tub of warm water, and got to work, work, work, work, work, work (lol) on my arms neck and back. Then after he worked on those for a bit he did my feet. OH MY GOSH! My only regret was not getting more time. You must absolutely keep in mind that this is a no-frills business. There won't be any cucumber water waiting at the end of your session nor will you be escorted to a private room. Moreover, you will be fully clothed and in the room with multiple people but when I tell you this is one of the best massage experiences for the amount you pay you will ever receive - BELIEVE ME! Be sure to request the type of massage pressure you prefer when making your appointment over the phone so they can match you with the correct person. That is a KEY tip. The person giving you the massage can make or break your experience. Be sure to request the kind of pressure you want so you can walk away feeling like you got what you have paid for. You get what you pay for is right. My trip to Fit Foot left me questioning the state of our economy... why are so many people giving 5 stars for a mediocre-at-best massage experience just because of the cheap price? It felt dirty. Blankets and plastic-lined buckets seemed gross to me. The paper beneath was removed at one point and my skin was touching the microfiber chair. I had a few drips on my arms during the massage; don't know if I would prefer that they were air conditioning water or sweat from my masseuse, but either way, ick! I started getting itchy on the way home and immediately took a shower. It felt like exploitation. I found myself wondering how much of the $28 charge the women was going to make for an hour's work. Does she have health insurance? Does she get a lunch break? Does her back hurt from sitting on that cheap stool all day? How much of this plastic and paper towel is thrown out in the alley dumpster each day? There is a reason this massage is so cheap and it blows my mind that customers don't feel guilty about this. It felt sad. The whole place had an overworked-and-underpaid vibe. People shuffled in and out. The pictures make it look bright and airy but it is a dark den. I know there are some serious cheapskates that probably leave a $5 tip or worse (I left the recommended $15). Cheap labor and environmental costs are not things I prefer to think about while getting a massage so I found myself leaving in a depressed state. Thursday I woke up with SEVERE pain in my neck and shoulders. So bad to the point where it took me about an hour to get out of bed. I was actually worried I wasn't going to able to even get out of bed because the pain wasn't from sore muscles, they were electric shocks going through my body. Like my nerves were getting fucked and twisted about. I made a visit to the chiropractor she got x-rays but couldn't see me again until Monday. I had an appointment with my psychiatrist actually that same day and while noticing the pain I was in gave me some muscle relaxers to last me a couple of days. I was in so much pain that I was puking and had hot flashes and chills. Friday I was stuck on the couch all day, miserable. Muscle relaxers made me sleepy, didn't do much for he pain, but something. Still vomiting. Saturday, which is today. I still felt off, I needed medical attention and I couldn't wait until Monday. I checked myself into advocate Illinois masonic center and several hours later, CT scan and mri later, they found that I have a herniated disc. This herniated disc was exacerbated from the insane massage I got from fit foot. My dad called then to complain and asked them to apologize to me, they said they would but never called me. When I told my dad, he then furiously called them back and they proceeded to lie to him and deny everything. First let me quickly explain the awesome of the $28 dollar one hour foot massage which is exciting American's across our country. Foot massages have been around in China for some time (we're talking two decades now.. maybe a bit more) and Chinese owned massage centers located in different destinations around the globe have offered similar experiences for the mere price of (what is today) $28 for an hour. (There was a time when it was $5 for a fifteen minute foot massage) This is for a foot massage plus acupressure for the rest of your body while fully clothed. In China, they have these huge rooms with fifty plus lazy boy chairs where patrons visit a darkened room to sit and enjoy a semi casual, inexpensive massage. You or your group are expected to enter the business without talking too loudly and when notified, go to your lazy boy to await your massage person. (I could say masseuse, but I really don't think these people are certified masseuses.) This is what every patron that's new to the foot massage experience, needs to know. In my past I've gotten to experience this foot massage at a couple different businesses both across Chicagoland and on the West Coast. So, how did this fair? It sucked. It was painful and I didn't want to tip the guy when it was over, but I felt forced into it. There are a couple great reviews on this listing you should read. I recommend the one by Jerry C. It's thorough and his experiences reflect some of my feelings. I'll try to be short. I decided to check this place out because of reviews. I stopped through with a small group of friends which in the short past, we'd had a great experience with a foot massage while traveling. There were a few failures here. First, they didn't start at our appointed time. Next, each massage guy came out one after the other with the foot soak buckets and all but one person complained that the water got lukewarm or "cold" within a minute. So the soak was pointless. One of my friends noticed that they were using a time clock and as the massages progressed from area to area, my guy was continually late with his methods. Also, if you've had a decent massage i.e. Shiatsu, Swedish, Deep tissue, you would know that most masseuses would move the massage with your breathing pattern, so that there isn't any conflict with breathing while massage. This heightens the experience of a good massage. These dudes, every last one were on a timer. All of us tried to bare the massage, trying to take quick breaths between painful strokes. There were times we held our breath till a pattern was complete, like we were swimming under water. For fucks sake.. worst $28 dollars spent. For a couple days I could feel pain on my back and neck where this dude jabbed his fingers into me. If you told me this guy is good at making potstickers or egg rolls, I would believe you. It is definitely a deep tissue massage but if you would like them to use lighter pressure you can most definitely ask and they will lighten the pressure -Most massages are done completely unclothed (nakie!!), so since this massage will be fully clothed, it's an awesome way to dip your toes in the water of the massage world. FREQUENT MASSAGE-GETTERS(?) If you're like me and love massages and get them whenever you possibly can... here's some things you'll appreciate: -Even though you're clothed, they are NOT scared to go rough and get to every nook and cranny to get rid of those knots! -$28... i mean... come on... when does that happen? -There are still awesome scents and they use lotion! The water in your foot bath is soft and scented and they do use lotion for a face and head massage and for your arms and legs if they happen to be exposed. Upon walking in there could be as many as 20 other people around you getting a massage and beds are about 2 feet apart from each other. I'm always amused by people who are put off by the decorative and environmental factors in these places and let that color their assessment of a service they received. It seems like a lot of the negative reviews were like, "Uh, there were so many people in the room, oh my god." It's annoying and trifling. I work in Lincoln Park and have been having some issues with my upper back (feeling like I needed to have it cracked- and I am not one for having my joints cracked). So when I searched on yelp for a massage place and found this one, I was intrigued by the fact that there seemed to be two camps: people who absolutely hated it and people who absolutely loved it. So I scheduled a same-day appointment with Tony (based on a recommendation from a Yelper) and showed up not knowing what to expect. Here is what you need to know: 1. If you are expecting some swanky spa, forget it. This place is not for you. It's not a dump, it's just not very personal and intimate. Which I actually like, I'd prefer not to talk to my massage person, which tends to happen more in a small quiet room with just the two of you. There was no need for me to engage in trivial, shallow conversation with someone I don't know. In this environment, there was no talking, no phones ringing, just people there to get their muscles right. The room is cool, but they tuck you into the chair with a heavy blanket. 2. If you are expecting soft cuddles, lavender-infused incense, and being offered green chai bubble tea while listening to the soft musical sounds of an Appalachian stream in the spring, this place is not for you. It's business-like and efficient. The chairs are low, padded, adjustable arm chairs. When you turn over to lay on your tummy, they can put a lot more muscle into it because the chairs are so low to the ground (utilizing their weight and gravity). I myself, like my massages like I like my men: strong and tough, so this place was pretty perfect. I have never asked anyone who does clothed massages, but my suspicion is that since are going through your clothes, they have to use more pressure, so that the massage can be felt. Just a hypothesis, though. 3. The one-hour deal that is a combination of a foot massage and back massage is different than a lot of the massages I have received, in that there was so much more emphasis on the feet. Usually, those are given short shrift. This was a really nice component of my massage. 4. Tony didnt ask me if I had any on-going or chronic health issues (like joint pain or back pain). Many, many moons ago, I registered and (miraculously) completed a marathon. Believe me, it was not easy, the training, the dieting, the focus. I was so relaxed I didn't care that the lady across the way was snoring loudly. He moved onto my feet, but not before covering my eyes with a mask and providing me with my own comfy soft blanket. Half an hour on the feet, and he told me to flip over....where he took a cover off the top of the lazy boy to reveal a hole for your face. Covering that area with a paper towel, he proceeded to give me a wonderful back massage. Heaven paid a visit to me for that one hour. The young girl was insanely rude to me. I've been to multiple foot massage locations like this and they all accept walk-ins. I come in and say I have a Groupon and if there were any open spots for a massage. She says, "Do you have an appointment?" I said no but before I could say anything else she interrupted saying "then you can't get a massage. What makes you think you can get a massage without making an appointment??" (whilst giving me a dirty look) I said well I've been to other locations and they all accept walk-ins and assumed this locat- "you assumed wrong. You need to let us know you have a groupon over then phone, then make an appointment the following day". So I need to let you know that I have a groupon over the phone, then I can get an appointment the next day? Not the same day? "Yes! Duh!" I left, went to the massage parlour next door called relax feet. I wouldn't pay a cent for this place. For the response below for my review: Yes, my review was removed by Yelp before, because I was so angry I said some mean things. So I removed the the mean things but my experience still remains the same. Why would I write a fake review?? When I came in, there were two women. And old woman and a young one using the computer. Umm... I thought for sure that the massage was over like 3 times, and then BAM! More excellent masseusing! 28$ for an hour long foot/full body combo massage is amazing. It was one of the most quality massages I've ever had, too, and we just walked in~ my roommate and I both loved our experience & I noticed my guy doing pressure points, cupping techniques, deep tissue, and other thai bodywork stretches. Idk if he knows about all that technical stuff, but he knows HOW to, and it was great. Crazy giant comfy massage chairs & some sort of melon scented lotion/oil... this could be a weekly thing. :) I think a lot of people are annoyed by the "deal" aspect, but I don't get it... if you buy the deal, you get the hour for $28. If you don't buy the deal, you STILL get it for $28, win-win! I'd make an appt in the future in case, but we had zero wait as walk ins. :) LOVE IT! read more

It all depends on who you get but overall I did not enjoy my massage. For the price, it is worth it, but having been to many of the reflexology locations around the city, I would not recommend this particular location based on my recent experience. (Go to Dancing Fingers or Healthy Zu spa for consistent greatness) The first hour of my two wasn't good. The guy started on my arms (no face/head,shoulders to start. He never ended up massaging my head but the whole time I thought he was about to move to my face after my feet and after going to the bathroom and not washing his hands before returning, which you can very clearly hear) There was also someone snoring very loud next to me when I first got there, there were three other open rooms with no one in them so to put a guest next to someone who is loudly snoring is a little odd. He then did my feet and legs for about a full hour of just rubbing lotion in circles. I couldn't wait for him to move on, there was no variety at all just up and down with almost no pressure. I was bored and cold. His hands also felt like sandpaper. The rest of my massage, post feet, ended up being good as far as getting my knots out, except the guy kept ripping pieces of paper from the bed cover to blow his nose with one hand and immediately return to massaging my bare skin. Things like that really gross me out and I couldn't wait to get home and shower. As much as it pained me, I still left 20% and they seemed pissed about it for some reason. read more

I've been looking for an affordable, quality massage place in Chicago since I moved back from China. A place that doesn't break the bank and where they don't talk your ear off while you're trying to relax. This is it. I've coming here pretty regularly for the past six months, and for the most part I've had a really good experience. For me the best guy they have on staff is Chang. He seems to know what parts of your body need the most work on without you having to tell him. For those of you who complained of the lack of privacy and "communal" atmosphere, this is how most massage places are in China (incidentally, this is definitely NOT a place where you'd get a "happy ending"). Fit Food is an amazing value, offering a full body massage for only $25! That said, you can't go here expecting the same experience as at a high-end spa, where you pay $100+ for a 60 minute massage. Everyone is in the an open room with no privacy, and you're massaged fully clothed. It tends to cater to athletes. My advice is to wear loose clothing and to go in with low expectations; and you'll be pleasantly surprised. My masseuse worked my knots well and eased up when I needed him to. My boyfriend, who has been a fan for a while, and I are adding Fit Foot to our Sunday routine. It's a great way to recover from long weekend runs. read more

These people on here complaining about this place can shove it. Sure - this place could use a refreshening. New chairs, paint job, flooring, etc. It's a little worn down. And yes, you are out in public with everyone else. But c'mon complainers -- for a really decent price, you got your mother f'ing feet massaged. Nobody wants to touch your feet, you gross creatures. But these people do and they do it so well. My massage therapist Kim hit spots on my feet that cleared my sinuses. Plus, you ungrateful 1st world monsters, they massage the rest of your body too. This place is amazing! $28 for an hour of bliss. They lead you in to a room and seat you in a reclining lazyboy chair. They then soak your feet in warm, lovely smelling water, as they cover you with towels and blankets. Then, your whole body is massaged, with extra attention paid to the feet. I left feeling wonderful and relaxed. For $28, I feel like this might be a regular splurge. read more

So, I did return for a foot massage here, taking advantage of the (not so) "special" $28 deal. The massage itself was average, but the person at the front desk engaged me regarding my criticism of their prices, claiming that the rent in Chicago is high in justifying their rate. Really? Not higher than Los Angeles, Orange County, the San Francisco Bay Area, and New York City! I can get comparable or better massages at these places for between $15-$25 as a regular, not discounted price! That's a lame excuse, so they might as well admit they are overcharging relative to comparable businesses. UPDATE: based upon the owner's comments here and in person to me when I visited the business, they obviously have no problem berating Yelpers for negative reviews, which is no way to win customers over! Furthermore, they keep on claiming that they are justified in overcharging based on beinig in Chicago, saying that it's not "Los Angeles, Organge County, etc...". That's exactly right; those places are more expensive in terms of rent and cost of living! I would really avoid this place and give another, classier foot massage place a try. This is a vindicitive, greedy business that is not focussed on good customer relations. read more

Even with all of the massage deals going on in the city, this is the best value for a massage. Their $28/hour (30 min foot, 30 min body) deal is THE. BEST. EVER. I prefer this type of massage to a more traditional (clothes off, separate room) massage. There are lots of people in one room getting massages (especially on the weekend), but the room is really quiet, and the fact that you're not the only one getting a massage makes it really non-awkward. And I've had awkward massages elsewhere, trust me. You save time by not having to change out of/into clothes. The massage therapists don't feel obligated to chitchat or ask for constant feedback. You get to soak your feet before the massage starts and they pay much-needed attention to the feet, which I think are often neglected by more traditional massage therapists. I felt like I got the perfect amount of pressure, as well--hard enough to get out the knots from a week's worth of working out. My massage therapist was a smoker (as mentioned by a previous reviewer, you can tell this when their hands are near your face), but that's not enough for me to give them fewer stars. It's just that good of a deal. I tipped well because I felt bad for only paying $28 for an hour of massage. read more

This is a JOKE! What a trashy place! Got a Groupon deal. Made a reservation. Arrived on time. There were about 15 other people waiting for their appointment by STANDING. Only 5 chairs available for people to sit down. NO SEPARATE waiting room. You walk in, stand by and watch how other people inside of dark living room getting foot massage. I also doubt their hygiene environment. If you want extra for your buck - Go there - and an extra bacteria probably guaranteed on your feet... I turned around and walked out.... read more
