I had an emergency trip I needed to take and I just couldn't get back in time to walk my dogs. I had never used a dog walker or a boarder before. Based on the reviews here I called Walk It Like A Dog. I gave them a lot of credit for taking me on as a new client last second. They came to our apartment a few days before and Rich and Tristan were awesome. They were definitely the kind of guys I would go have a drink with and my two dogs really seemed to get along well (which is odd). So I made extra sets of keys and left a check and instructions on my table and felt great because my dogs would be alright and I could take my time. In hindsight I should have called to confirm that morning, but it was only two days since their "meet & greet" so I thought I was OK. It was a good thing my event ended early and the traffic gods were on my side so I was able to return within 12 hours. I came back and found that the check was still there and the leashes had not been moved. They didn't show up at all! I was fuming and called Rich directly on his cell phone. It took him until the next day to find Tristan and figure out why he didn't show. The only response I got from Rich was "I'm really sorry, man. I don't even know what to say". I immediately requested my two sets of keys and told them to lose my number. When I picked up my keys from his shop, they threw in a $20 gift card, like that would make up for not showing up. I also recently got a follow up email that Rich's iPhone was stolen and not to worry "WE DO NOT KEEP ALARM CODES IN THE PHONE, just your name, number and address" That makes me feel soooo much better.

The staff is SO friendly and absolutely adore my dog from the second we walk in. The groomer remembers her, and my dog always comes home smelling amazing, shedding way less (she gets a de-shed treatment since she's a husky) and her paw pads are trimmed which I could never do as well on my own. They said she contracted kennel cough and text me on Saturday but at the rate she declined she had to have been sick much longer than they care to admit . I even have a recorded conversation where my friend called and they knew a bad dog influenza was going around philadelphia and still didn't give antibiotics or take to vet after knowing it was not just kennel cough ....I just picked up my dog and is not expected to live past today and she didn't , she contracted kennel cough which turned to pneumonia and passed away. She's was in septic shock. They should have taken her to the vet when she contracted the kennel cough and was seen not eating and lethargic. She got it April 1st, I picked her up April 3 and on April 4 is in the ICU and died today . Pure negligence . Do not board or groom here . Looking back when I brought her in she wasn't happy and had to be picked up, and she usually doesn't mind being boarded (other places she walks right in) so something isn't right at this place. And I'm at a loss for words. She is my life! The fact that kennel cough went around means a dog might have not had their shots (maybe not since it's like the flu and different strains might be resistant to the shot ) but even still they were flat out negligent and should have taken her to the vet. They lied on the text when telling me about it, saying she was eating and drinking fine, but when I picked her up you can clearly tell she had not been eating or drinking (the hospital said she was extremely dehydrated and when we got home she threw up straight bile, no food in her stomach) if she wasn't eating that's a sign that the kennel cough has turned into something worse along with barely being able to walk, they should have taken her to the vet as per the signed agreement, this all could have been avoided and now I lost my best friend. I'm balling my eyes out when I visited her today when they said the only reason she still alive was the meds and machines I know kennel cough can be at any boarding but this place simply ignored her serious symptoms

But my recent experience with Philapets (and the fact that there are no recent reviews) is forcing me to warn others about this business. I have used Philapets since 2009 to take care of my cat. Back in 2009-2010, they were great. Absolutely wonderful. The pet sitter assigned to us would personally email us every day when they arrived at the house. And we could get in touch with them directly. I would see our sitter out in South Philly and say hello to her. Since then, Philapets has come under new ownership and it has gone downhill. Earlier this year, we sent an email requesting a visit for two days- Saturday and Sunday. We got a confirmation email stating we were on the schedule. Great. The weekend of our trip comes and we didn't hear anything from them confirming our appointments, but we didn't think anything of it. Over the entire weekend, we didn't get any type of confirmation email stating they were able to enter our home and feed/water the cat, but again, we didn't think anything of it. Upon arriving home, we noticed that his food bowl was LICKED clean (which never happens with him- he always has a few kernels in there). Also, they leave these "while you were away" notes for each day they visit and we only had one for Saturday. I thought it was odd, but figured she/he just didn't leave one on Sunday. A few days later, I get the invoice for the visit and they only charged us for Saturday. Very very odd. At this point, I am starting to get worried they missed our Sunday appointment I call the office to inquire and they inform me that we WERE on the schedule for both days, but they need to check with the sitter. Later, I receive a call from Philapets and they tell me there was a mixup because they were "changing computer systems" and the sitter only came Saturday because she had the "wrong schedule". First of all, my email requesting service had both days mentioned, so I don't know how our visits got on "two different schedules". Also, I wrote a note and left it on our kitchen table next to the cat treats and toys (where they left the "while you were away" note--- so it was obviously out in the open for them to read) that gave separate instructions for Saturday and Sunday. So obviously the sitter either a) didn't bother to read my note b) read the note and didn't catch the Sunday part of it or c) read the note, read my reference to Sunday and just didn't care to follow up with management about the schedule. The manager apologizes to me and offered a free visit in the future. I accepted her apology but asked to have our keys back because I cannot trust this will not happen in the future. A few days later, I get the keys back in the mail. I also should note that I never received an apology from either of the owners. Also, they went ahead and charged my credit card for Saturday. They couldn't have comped that day to make up for the fact that my cat went hungry on Sunday? Long story short, Philapets used to be a great service but they are severely lacking right now. To be fair, my experience may have been a fluke, but do you really want to chance your pets safety? I sure don't.

I paid nearly $5,000 in na French bulldog believing I was bringing home a healthy, well-cared-for puppy. Sadly, I was wrong. Zeus had health issues from the very beginning. Despite all the love, care, and medical attention -- including over $10,000 spent at a veterinary hospital -- Zeus passed away at just 1 year and 6 months old. No animal deserves to suffer like that, and no family should have to go through the pain of losing a pet so young. The emotional and financial damage this caused me is beyond words. With a broken heart, I'm leaving this review as a warning: do your research before buying from this place. Don't be fooled by promises or appearances. I truly hope no one else goes through what I went through. This entire experience traumatized me deeply. Losing Zeus so young shattered me emotionally, and I'm currently on medication just to help cope with the pain. Nothing will bring him back, but I hope my words can protect others from the same grief.

Dina gave me a steady dog walker for lunchtime walks and Dina fills in when the steady walker is not available (and has personally filled in since Christmas time). PHL pets is very reliable and trust worthy. Also they use an app that is very easy to make appointments and communicate with the dog walker or Dina and receive photos and updates of the visit and to Make payments. Dina is awesome with Major and personal trains her dog walkers to be as awesome as Dina is. Unfortunately next week I am moving a little further south to Packer Park and PHL pets doesn't go that far south. I'm hoping to find another company that is as good as PHL Pets. I highly recommend PHL pets and you can trust them completely.

Amazon supplies my cat litter. The Dollar Store offers cheap toys. This Chestnut Hill store is always clean. The employees are friendly and polite. Tall brown skin black male with twisted/locced colored hair Ran a few errands and deposited a check unfortunately TD bank on Germantown Ave closed early that day as a result i was unable to pull funds as they were all on hold until the next day. When i went to retrieve my pure bred $3500 German shepherd i explained to Demetrius the bank was closed but i could leave my card on file to charge the $125. I also left the groomer a $20 tip. Demetrius Hogue did not agree to this and instead stated he would have to keep my dog overnight. I thought that was strange as the store doesn't board dogs but i acquiesced bc i thought the manager who lied and said he was the owner was a relatively sane person. I also thought it strange that he was being highly anxious about $125 after me offering to leave my id and cc on file and i live in the neighborhood and my child also goes to school in the neighborhood. Im literally near the store daily either at weavers way or a coffee shop. When i returned the next morning when they opened at 9 am a different worker was there and was not informed about anything. 2. Demetrius Hogue did not leave the staff any information rather they had to call him and he informed the staff worker that he put my dog in a shelter with ACCT Philly. 3. Demetrius Hogue did not contact me to let me know he did this despite the store having my information on file as he called me when my dog was finished with her grooming appointment. 4. I contacted police and reported theft bc Demetrius did not have the right or legal authority to place my chipped dog with ACCTPhilly 5. I contacted 911 for a stolen dog and pressed charges against Demetrius Hogue and placed an ad in the chestnut hill local for him to be terminated from the store as his behavior was not pro dog. 6. Demetrius Hogue traumatized a dog that is chipped cared for attends daycare and loved for $125 that the customer provided even AFTER learning her dog was given to a shelter. 7. I'm local to the neighborhood so there was no reason to keep and essentially abuse my dog he's dangerous and shouldn't be allowed in a pet store or near anyone's furry family member. 8. For the above stated reasons i will not support nor do i recommend the community support this establishment while Demetrius Hogue is still employed as he does not understand what pets mean to family members and he should not be around people's pets as he's abusive. He needs to be terminated asap.
