I chose Christine (fit from ground up owner and trainer) after meeting with over 10 local trainers. From the initial assessment, she was very thorough and detailed with her observations and able to identify form deficiencies and weak points. She listened closely to my goals and came up with a plan to achieve them. She didn't pressure me and put on her sales hat. She simply focused on listening to what I wanted, asking me several questions, and assessing my current fitness routine and form. After a few months, I could not be happier with every aspect of working with her. She has several different routines to create good variety. She keeps the heart rate elevated through cardio intervals and fast pace functional movements and pushes me hard, never letting me fall short of the goal for reps. Perhaps most importantly, she meticulously watches every single rep and analyzes the form until I get it right. Simply put, she is great at what she does, and I can see both my own results and how happy her other clients are. Another thing I like about Christine is that she plays the role of fitness doctor basically. She tells me what exercises to focus on at home and what things I can do before meeting her so that I could maximize the benefit of my time with her. She is always open to questions and remembers to follow up and answer my questions in person.... And also makes sure that the exercises/stretching that I do at home are being done correctly. Every time we meet she shows me something new to try at home for a focus area where I need improvement. Lastly, she does morning and night fairly small group classes that are as good as meeting her for 1:1. Usually, i don't write reviews, but i think this is Worth it and possibly helpful to others. I was trying to shed some pounds and i  did not know how or where to begin.  One of  the biggest problems i had was food.  " I LOVE TO EAT!"....  In two year i went from 122lbs to 147lbs and I'm a short gal 5.1' to be exact.   I was feeling super lazy with no energy and no desired of anything so, i decided that i needed help.   I started to do my research.  I wanted a place to be close to home and convenient for me.   I decided to give Fit From The Ground Up a try.  I called and made an appointment. I met up with Christine the owner.   I was lucky enough to get her as my trainer.   I told her the things that i wanted for my body and my problems and struggles.  She explain to me the work out  and the foods that i needed to eat.  After my first personal training with Christine, i was hooked.    I seriously love it!!!!  and i couldn't wait for my next class.  Don't get me wrong is hard at the beginning, but with someone motivating you and pushing you makes things easier.  At one point, i wanted to quit but, for me it came down to what i really wanted 1. do i want to be healthy, happy and energetic or 2. do i want to continue living feeling lazy with no energy and no desired of anything.   The answer for me was pretty simple. I attend the Boot Camp and Strength Circuit classes, and I do not understand why I have not been doing something like this for my entire life. It's awesome! Christine is a fantastic trainer and motivator. Not once have I felt put down or awkward about my progression to physical fitness in these classes, just motivated and encouraged to push myself to my own limits and beyond. Each hour-long class is a smorgasbord of ass-kickery all designed to give you an amazing workout. Kettle bells, weights, battle ropes, cardio, aerobics, stretching, and so much more in a positive, comfortable setting. Look. This gym and the programs they offer are amazing. I'm torn writing such a positive review, because I love the friendly familiarity developed with each one of us trainees, and I don't want these classes filling up with assholes and losing that touch. I first joined FFTGU in 2012. I had lost a good amount of weight on my own but had hit a wall. I had seen a friend on FB post about this gym and how incredible the classes were. I contacted the owner Christine and she invited me to try a class for free... after that first boot camp class I was hooked! While this gym is small it is mighty! I transitioned over to personal training with Christine and my strength just went to a whole other level! In 2013 I had to part ways because I started nursing school, and was not able to afford it. I had planned to go back after finishing school but my Dad fell ill and passed and I went through some health issues as well. Fast forward to 2018.. I kept in touch with Christine through social media and was being pulled to returning. I hit up Christine and she welcomed me with open arms and no judgments, as I had gained back all the weight I lost. We talked about what my goals looked like and together we made a plan. So I wanted to give this place a good try before giving them a review. I joined this gym late March and let me tell you i fell in love. The trainers are amazing and kind. If i dont show up a few days right away I get a text from Christine the owner checking in on me. This place is safe place to go work out your goals and never will you feel ashamed. The bootcamp classes are intense but amazing. They also have an awesome kettlebell bootcamp class that it makes your whole body be thankful of the work out you just gave it. This review is for Lizia who is a trainer and massage therapist there. She has basically given me my life back. When I first met her I was suffering from three severely herniated discs in my neck and was facing surgery. Instead of surgery I tried Lizia and thank god I did! I had become really unfit and unhealthy in the past 2 years of my life. I found out about this program when I searched for any fitness club in my city of Lynwood. I checked out their website (www.fitfromthegroundup.com) and decided to give it a go. The first day was free for liking the Facebook page =] and wow! I realized how out of shape I had become. The trainer on my first day was Christine and the bootcamp class consisted of about 5-10 people. I was so sore and hurting the next day but it was a good feeling. Christine was with the group the whole time pushing and encouraging us to finish the workouts. For the Lynwood boot camp it is usually Ruben "Iron Man" Cervantes but he was not able to make it that day. For the next month of the bootcamp we trained with Ruben. This man is a wonderful, experienced trainer with a lot of fitness and nutrition related knowledge and knows how to get your heart racing and get you to burn off that menudo! Just like Christine, he will stick with the group and push you to finish. These trainers do not lay there and fall asleep while you work out, they keep an eye on everybody in the group and give tips on how to improve on good form and anything they see they could help you out with! After the workouts we cool down =] and the trainers begin taking any questions related to fitness, nutrition, how the body works, injuries..etc. with excellent answers that will help you on your way to becoming Fit From The Ground Up. I have to share a story about being Fit From The Ground Up. I bought my wedding dress last June and had my first fitting this June. My seamstress had to take in in about an inch and a half but I told her that I wasn't done and that we had to wait until the last possible minute. She mentioned there would be an additional fee added to the alterations but I said it would be worth it. I've attended boot camps and a few personal training sessions with both Christine Tarpinian and Ruben Cervantes until I moved to Orange County two weeks ago. I still keep up with my foam rolling, exercises and diet choices that I learned from both Christine and Ruben. Yesterday I had my final fitting and my seamstress had to take in the dress another inch! She was amazed! My seamstress decided to waive the extra rush fees for the alteration. She was very impressed with how I looked and the weight loss. The best gym to workout at ! All the trainers are super friendly and the environment is a lot more welcoming than normal gyms. The equipment is also of a wide variety that targets every part of your body! Honestly best gym experience! Bootcamp is intense, but you get results. Ruben and Christine are very good at pushing you to your limits. They are also more than happy to answer any type of health and fitness questions...that's priceless. And it's not a short answer, they go into detail and make sure you understand! I've experience both bootcamp and personal training and are very satisfied with both. During personal training, Ruben has taught me about how muscles work, how to stretch and run correctly... I met Lizia a month after I fractured my pelvis, (my sister who also had a pelvic fracture the year prior recommended her) when I saw Lizia for the first time I was barely able to walk on a walker, I couldn't pick up my right foot any higher than two inches & I felt very unaligned. I had been going to physical therapy through my Dr. for 3 weeks and the progress was hardly noticeable. Lizia relaxed my muscles and was very careful while working on me and always making sure I was comfortable, I felt immediate progress, I started to see her more And within 2 weeks I was able to walk better and it was now easier for me to lift my leg up not to mention how much better my posture was!
