Fine gym until you want to cancel. I canceled my membership in April. I started to receive emails in June stating I had to update my credit card on file as my account was in delinquency and I owed $.. they kept trying to bill an old card I had on file. I called Fitness 19 in July and they said "Sorry about that, you only owe $30 for April and then we can cancel your account. So I pay. In August I get a phone call from a lawyer on behalf of Fitness 19 trying to collect my money. I called and spoke to the manager who said sorry the $30 never went thru so pay again and then we'll cancel your account. This place is a scam. read more

I hope this review finds everyone well. I've been going to fitness 19 for the past five years now. I find the facility to be clean, able to get a good lifting session most of the time without being bothered ( a lot of small talkers in there.) However there's a couple of trainers, in particular the old man and woman, that are very inconsiderate to other people that are trying to work out. I get that they make their money by training people but the way they go about doing it is ridiculous. I wouldn't even complain about it, but on numerous occasions I have been "moved" out of the way by the intrusive tactics and I just leave because I don't need the headaches. I only go to fitness 19 because of the proximity to where I live. If there were other options, I would probably go there instead. PS I overheard the older male trainer say to a guy he was working with a derogatory comment regarding why some people are so strong... I'll leave it at that. read more

Has it really been 2 years? It's hard to believe I've now been coming to this gym for that amount of time, and I have to admit that a lot can change in that period of time. Case and point? Prior to going to this gym, I went to another LA Fitness location that was brand spanking new. 2 years in? The place was a disaster (overcrowded, machines already in disrepair, etc). Fitness 19 is a breath of fresh air because 2 years in, this place is still in mint condition! I have to also praise the staff here. Some gyms can have unfriendly employees, but everyone at Fitness 19 is so pleasant to interact with. Although I don't attend the classes, my wife does, and she finds the instructors to be exceptionally friendly. I have another friend who enjoys working with his personal trainer, and I always find the folks at the main counter to be very welcoming. The equipment here is still in good shape 2 years later. There have been a few machines that have aged, but those machines have already been replaced or updated. They have also added new equipment, including kettle bells, thanks to some customer feedback, and there's always somebody walking around to keep the place clean. Of course, the other thing that helps is to have a courteous gym community, and I find the members generally keep this place in good shape (returning equipment after use to the proper place, wiping down equipment with wipes after use, etc). My main reason for the 4-star review instead of 5 stars is mostly because of the lack of bathroom amenities. What would really make this place a 5-star location would be to add cloth towels (I realize it's an added expense in time and labor to wash and replace those, though) or some other bathroom amenities. The place has lockers and showers, but otherwise it's pretty bare bones (soap + water + dryers). Still, for the low monthly cost of membership (the lowest I've ever seen), the value here is incredible. I love this gym! read more

When we moved to Malverne, we took a tour of the local gym and we realized the gym was fully equipped but there were more people than available equipment. It can get crowded pretty easily. My partner continued to do the free gym session but he wasn't too pleased with the wait times and we ultimately decided to go somewhere else. I knew I couldn't go when the room that had the TRX in it wasn't available to the public. You had to be with a trainer and sign up for training to use them. Bummer. read more

The manger Melissa is very unprofessional it truly breaks my heart, I will not be returning this gym! The staff is so amazing and treats me like family; such a great team of supportive young men work there, and I'm going to miss it! On Wednesday June 15, 2021 the manger Melissa who I don't see often was there. While, using the stair master, I would jump off and do sets, then hop back on! An old man walked towards my machine. I told him, " oh no I am using that machine I'm just in btwn sets, I should be done in 15 min" he walked away and started using a bike. As he saw me doing sets, he pointed his finger at the stair master and told me to get on the machine right now, he kept demanding me to return to the machine. I told him I didn't appreciate being spoken to like that! He then went to the manager, I followed him! Melissa told me I can not do that. I told her many people who work out do sets in btwn machines. Nevertheless if the man had spoken to me differently I may of reconsider As I was speaking to Melissa the old man walked back over to the machine and placed my personal items that was on the machine on the floor, yes the man put my things that was on the machine on the floor and proceeded to work out on the machine I was using! Melissa witnessed this and told me look, the machine next to him is now free I can hop on! I was so infuriated that he got away with that! I hoped on the machine next to him and called him an #sshole! Melissa immediately waved her finger and told me to get out! I was so shock, I couldn't believe the old man had harassed me disrespected my property and yet I was the one humiliated and asked to leave in front of everyone! The old man smiled with satisfaction! me being the minority in the room and humiliated made me feel extremely uncomfortable! Melissa continued to yell at me and wave her finger for me to leave. I tried so hard to explain to her it wasn't fair. Melissa threatened to cancel my membership! I even called the next day and Melissa showed the no empathy! She claims I made a scene, and as manger she did what she had to!! How come the rules did not apply to the man? If they have video surveillance they can confirm everything I said was true! I told Melissa I was humiliated, she told me I'm exaggerating I was just defending myself I didn't make a scene The old man made scene. Even though the old man was wrong, It is not in my character to disrespect and old man. I'm more disappointed in Melissa's actions! The old man and I are both customers! I have been a member at that gym for 4years. It truly breaks my heart not to go back however I will not tolerate dishonor to myself! The staff at that gym has always looked out for me, supported me and made me feel welcomed but the manger Melissa is not a true reflection of the rest of the staff! read more

I have been going to this gym pretty much since it has opened, and it has been an awesome experience! The machines are always clean (during COVID it is clear they are putting in extra effort to keep it that way), and the staff is so so nice!! I really enjoy their exercise classes too!! I was on the bus home from the mall and had a feminine emergency. Everywhere was closed. My last resort was the gym where the two guys at the front desk let me use the bathroom. It was beautiful inside but they were very kind and there was no questions asked. Great staff! read more

I don't know how else to say this. but these people are crooks. Just wait until you decide that you no longer want to be a member. They will tell you okay, no problem and then you check your credit card statement next month and you're still paying them. You call and now they tell you it has to be in writing. A covid nightmare - Overcrowded on the main weight room floor even during off hours. Mask policy was not properly enforced when required. About 50% of the gym's square footage is closed to members at any given time as it reserved for classes or locked (Spin room, day care room, Cross Fit station, etc). There are not anywhere near near enough free weights for a gym of this size--zero pre-weighted EZ curl bars. You have to constantly go hunting for plates and there is always a long wait for a free bench or the cable machines. Equipment has not been properly cleaned and thick layers of dust sit on the squat racks and rust on the bars. I bring my own gym towel as there is no towel service and I have to soak it in oxyclean every week because it gets filthy from usage here. Cardio equipment has wipes and paper towels from weeks/months ago still stuffed in the cell phone holders. The music can be very loud on the lower level (hitting 70db+_ where the ceilings are low, and the front staff seems clueless and unwilling make any adjustments and accommodations--especially Joe who is belligerent and combative when asked. read more

This is a beautiful, clean, spacious gym. Definitely a huge upgrade for me (I was formerly at synergy in lynbrook). Personally, I like the fact that this gym attracts a somewhat older crowd.. It eliminates that meathead, male-dominated gym atmosphere that made me uncomfortable at synergy. Fitness 19 has a ton of classes that I definitely want to try. You never have to wait for a cardio machine and the locker room is really nice! The only reason I take stars off is because the service isn't great. There are usually multiple people "working" at the front desk- they're usually just sitting there chatting, and 99% of the time, not one of them can be bothered to say hello. They seem to have their "favorites" that they talk to, but if you're a newcomer, don't expect a warm welcome. I had been a member for a few months and my boyfriend wanted to join, so I went with him the day he signed up. An older man (Steve I think?) "helped" us. I dont even want to say help because he really didn't. He had an unbelievably rude tone but then would interrupt and cheerfully say hello/chat to his favorites that came in, did not explain anything about the gym/classes or offer a tour, and told ME to explain to my boyfriend how to download the app that the gym uses for check-in. I seriously hope this guy is not a manager because he was awful. read more

I joined this Gym in good faith, gave them 100 down payment and then I canceled within 4 months , I called them in May to cancel and they said I have to come in and I did , the guy I canceled with told me 15.00 will be billed one last time and then I was charged 39.00 on top of the 15.00 and when I called someone by the name JOE tells me that is the charge and cannot be refunded. I'm not stupid if I cancel and they said there is no cancellation charge and they charge me ... SOMEONE IS LYING!!! Don't join this Gym they are not honest!!!!!! Malverne needed this addition! This gym is close to home, clean as a whistle and still has its newborn smell! I have joined countless gyms in the past only to never go. We all have every excuse in the book not to go. Fitness 19 was different for me. Parking is ample. The machines are pretty much empty free after 7, bathrooms are clean, staff is friendly. I really enjoy walking the treadmill while looking out of the window to keep my mind occupied. The equipment is fairly up to date and its great to do a circuit if you wish. Personally, I did not enjoy the classes. I felt they were way too advanced for someone out of shape like me. I actually pulled a tendon muscle in my foot and couldn't attend the gym for a few months. The yoga looks relaxing though in the dark which I plan on checking out. Going from an all women's gym to co-ed was a bit of an adjustment, but hey, we are all there for the same reason. The weight machine area upstairs is usually pretty crowded and I have seen numerous men checking themselves out while pumping their iron... The downstairs area seems to be larger than the upstairs. The pilates room and spinning classes are held down there. The restrooms are clean and the members seem to be vigilant on wiping down the machine after they use it. I wish there were more employees walking around assisting with the customers on the machines. Many a times I felt like an idiot for not knowing how to use a machine properly. It's a little weird, I always though the main entrance was on Hempstead Ave., but it seems it is in the back behind the building. I always wondered what stops just anyone from walking in and using a treadmill from the front. The desk to scan in is all the way in the back and there isn't a staff member monitoring from what I have seen. Your "card" is all app based, pretty much everything is. To reserve a classes, check schedules, scan in. I wish they had a physical gym card or a keychain card with a QR code or something. I don't like bringing my phone inside the gym, but I have to just to check in. All around, I do like my new gym. Looking forward to dusting off my sneaks this spring! read more

I joined in late 2021. The facility is large, clean and well maintained. As Omicron Covid infections soared in December , the governor of New York imposed a mask mandate for public indoor activities including gyms . Fitness 19 does nothing to enforce the mandate; in fact they don't even post signs asking members to wear a mask. Every time I've gone there the vast majority of the people in the facility are maskless. I have never seen a staff member wearing a mask. When I expressed my concerns to the person at the front desk she claimed that the majority of the members are vaccinated and that the gym was following company policies regarding Covid. I am 70 years old and in good health. A good number of the members at Fitness 19 are also in this most vulnerable demographic. I stopped going to Fitness 19 a month ago and won't return until the Covid infection rates drop enough that I can feel my risk of infection is sufficiently low. read more

This is the kind of gym where you get what you pay for. Convenience is the only reason I signed up for this gym. Being brand new I was excited that the gym would be clean and well maintained. The space is so small for the equipment that they have it's hard to move around both upstairs and downstairs. The main reason for my review is some of the people a low fee gym attracts, which I thought would be different getting out of the city. But I dread coming here because multiple times when I've worked out downstairs, specifically, lifting/doing squats men have actually stopped and watched me work out. I had to rack my bar and turn around one time to tell a guy that's not okay and to walk away. I wear normal leggings and no tight tops to draw attention to myself, but I shouldn't even have to worry about that! It's so demeaning and disgusting to want to work out but to be so uncomfortable by a few who have totally ruined it for me. This gym is extremely unprofessional. My husband was cursed at by the two young kids they have working there. I am a business owner myself and I would never want to bash a business, however I cannot let this go. My husband was told he was an "asshole and a doushebag" by the young girl at the front desk and the young guy with a beard and longer hair. Great gym. It is modern, clean, and the staff is friendly. I almost never see any broken equipment, and in the free weight area, it seems that member exercise proper etiquette, and properly re-rack weights. The locker rooms are clean, and when I go (usually around 5:30am on weekdays), it's not too crowded. Keep up the good work! read more

This is a small local gym, which is the main reason I like it. It has 2 floors. The upstairs with treadmills, elliptical machines, bicycles, gym equipment, and a room used for zumba and other classes. Downstairs, there are more free weights, workout out machines, a room for HIT circuit training class, and another area for spin class. I would prefer if they add another HIT class earlier in the day like 5pm, the ones offered during the week start at 7pm which is a bit late for me but they also have HIT on Sunday mornings. They have personal trainers, which is pretty good. I use Justo, he's great, motivating, and very personable. Most importantly I like that the gym is clean and has good air-conditioning which is extremely important!! They employ a young man named Joe who has special needs and does a fantastic job keeping the gym clean! I really have to mention how important it is for a business to be all-inclusive in the community they serve. Neurodiversity in the workplace is key to promoting awareness around the value that special needs individuals bring to the table. I also see gym members with special needs working out and maintaining a healthy workout routine. Kudos to the owner Michael Hobbs for tapping into this population of hard-working individuals. It's great to be greeted by Joe whenever I see him Sunday mornings before my class. This gym is really a nice place and although there's other gyms in the area I will continue to recommend them for all the reasons I explained above :) read more

I was a customer of this gym for more than one year. Because of moving to a different city, I canceled my membership, by going directly to the gym and getting full assurance from the person at the desk,that my membership was canceled and my credit card will not be charged for another cycle, (month). After 2 months they are still charging me the monthly membership fee. I called them and they completely denied that I canceled 2 months ago. The person who answered the phone almost laugh in my face saying that the account was canceled 4 days ago !!!, ( I wasn't even physically present in NY at that time), and this will be the last time when my credit card will be charged. If you cancel your membership, be sure that you document the person that you are talking to, the exact day of the cancelation, the exact specific month when your credit card will be charge for the last time and most important ask them to give you a yellow slip, that supposedly they have to give it to you when you make the cancelation. I never received this cancelation slip. Also, check carefully your credit card statements and maybe record or tape the whole cancelation process.They will just tell you straight up that you never canceled. If nothing works and they continue to charge your card, call your credit card andBetter Bussines Bureau organization (BBB). I just trusted their word and they took advantage of me.This people are not to be trusted! Totally untrustworthy people. I don't care about the amount that was charge after more than 2 months after the cancelation. The way they treat me, after I called them and explained the situation was unacceptable. read more

Overcrowded Zym, you can't get on the machines you want to do exercise , you gotta wait for sometimes 30 minuets, 2 sets of machines and 6-7 persons wanna do the same exercise, also in the parking lot you gotta wait if someone get out and you park your car. read more

This is a clean, well lit, nicely maintained atmosphere to do a work out in. I love it. The vibe is casual and upbeat. This review is not about the gym in general but about a Zumba class, Suzanne's to be exact whom is the instructor for several classes. I joined this gym for its location and for the Zumba classes. The instructor walked and started the class without a simple hello, welcome or introducing herself (I had to look her name up on the schedule). Proceed to shut down all the lights and crack the music up. Now, in a room so narrow with the lights out, how can't she not know is hard for people on the back and sides to see the cues? The very "few" cues she gives the class. Well, I'll tell you why, simply because she's giving the class to the 3 people next her (her "girls"), so if you aren't part of that group, you're on your own. How unprofessional! I have amazing Zumba trainers at Lifetime, LAFitness and Synergy, been taking these clases for a few years now and so I know a thing or two about Zumba and how the instructors should cater and teach a class. Like I said at the beginning, I joined this gym because is half a block away from my home and sometimes I can't drive to my other clubs. Extremely disappointed that management would allow this person to run a lot of their Zumba classes. Just because you can move, doesn't not mean you can teach. read more

Fitness 19 - the only problem I have is the "class room" the acoustics is horrible. I cannot understand what the instructors are saying, cannot hear the music because whatever she is saying is garbled. When I spoke to the manager he said, "is the volume up" how the hell do I know. - it only has two small speakers and is not big enough for the room. read more

I'm a new member at fitness 19 in Malverne and am enjoying the modern spin equipment and diverse variety of classes that are offered. I especially enjoy Zumba and am so happy that additionAl Zumba classes have been added. I have taken Zumba classes with Suzanne and think her workout is great and lots of fun!!! She brings so much energy to the group. The more you learn her routines, the better it gets. I'm looking forward to trying yoga and more weight classes. Fitness 19 is clean, has good classes & it's a cool place to workout. I did my first "Pound" class there this week! It was fabulous!!! They also hired a great Spin instructor called IIona Bocchi, IIona is fabulous!!!! I was so happy to see her there that I had to hug her, I know her from another gym. You must check it out!
