So I started coming here 2 months ago and I was particularly excited about using the sauna after each workout, however it's never working. The first month I never had any issues but in the last couple of weeks every single time I come it's turned off. When I go to ask the front desk to turn it back on, they rarely have a woman working that can come in and turn it on. It's super frustrating. If you try to cancel your membership you will get the runaround and high-pressure tactics from representatives to not close account. They advertise you can cancel easily online but apparently in Texas you have to call the main office, which is where you get hammered to stay a member. Then when you finally get it through to them that you want to cancel, only then do they tell you that the call doesn't matter. The only annoyance are the people in the squat area who like to throw their barbells on the floor after every single set. They think they are impressing everyone with all the noise (they are not). I went there today and I was denied entry. I signed up for the 5 day pass and I waited to talk to a guy. The guy was about to take me on a tour until some guy in a blue shirt came up to me and said that they stopped giving out 5 day passes. Then he had the nerve to tell me to try it, it would cost $50 dollars! That's some BS! I wish I got the guy's name but if you see him he is a caucasian bigger dude with a tattoo on his right sleeve. As the new guy was giving me the tour he was telling me he didn't know we stopped give 5 day passes and he didn't know we charged people either. Sounds kind of iffy to me. I wish corporate would talk to this location because right after I called the lake creek location they told me they still do the 5 day passes and that the guy who told me about charging $50 dollars was telling me false information. Just sign up online for the $10 a month plan with the $40 initiation fee. Saves you sooo much hassle. With tax included it works out to about $14.43 a month when you average out the costs over the entire year. The billing to my credit card has been flawless without any errors for almost 2 years now. For the money I am very pleased with my choice. The facility is usually clean and the bathrooms are well kept. Staff is always friendly. Ample parking and lots of good stores and eateries nearby. Occasionally there are free samples at the entrance. I've found the supplements to be good quality the few times I've purchased them. You can link the credit card on your membership account to pay for drinks and supplements which is pretty convenient. The in house sound system is pretty good stuff and is complete with powered subwoofer enclosures up in the rafters. They did not cut corners on the visual and audio entertainment in here. There are plenty of screens in the cardio machine area grouped into packs of 6 in a 3 wide 2 tall configuration. It's easy to stay entertained but I do wish they would fix closed captioning so it works properly on every single screen. Suspect this is an issue with their video multiplexing system and not the individual HDTVs. The free wifi is kind of hit or miss for my low end smart phone. I was using the 2.4GHz wifi so maybe I need to upgrade my phone and then see if 5GHz is available and if so if it is any better. I will update this review after I get a new phone. When it's not crowded I am able to use TIDAL streaming at high quality over the free wifi which is pretty nice. Now of course during peak times the bathrooms can get messed up by certain rude members who don't clean up after themselves. Since I normally visit outside of peak hours I have always found the bathrooms to be super clean. My gripes here are pretty typical for any gym of this price point and employee pay scale. The water fountains get constant use and as expected they break down every so often. This is why they have multiple fountains. They had a nice one that had a filter and a bottle refill mechanism but it has been broken for some time now. Management states parts have been ordered. The delay seems to be in getting the parts shipped to this location and getting someone to install them. It's a bummer but not a huge deal if you bring filtered water from home. Do not lose your little membership card or they will charge you a fee to replace it. They will not let you use your membership without this flimsy little plastic card. Best to laminate it or wrap it with clear packing tape to help it last longer. IIRC the fee to replace it is under $20. They won't budge on this one, don't even try to sweet talk them into a free replacement because it is not happening folks. The employee turnover rate here is typical for the lower paying front desk gym jobs. As is typical some employees are on the ball and some are not. Personally I've never had any issues with any staff here. One time there was an emergency involving EMS and the staff handled it perfectly. The sales employees are akin to used car sales. But you can completely skip them if you sign up online with a credit card. Once you sign up online you walk in and show driver's license and they snap a digital picture of you with this little webcam on their computer. Then you get your membership card in the mail a few days later. Super easy. Now as is typical cancelling membership is not a simple affair. My understanding is that when it comes time to cancel you will want to do so by certified mail to the address for corporate which was provided in your contract. I'd advise getting a certified letter, done at the USPS customer service desk at any post office, and be sure pay the $3 or whatever for the signature confirmation receipt option on the certified mail to prove they actually got your letter. Any problems later you can prove to them they got your letter to cancel. Now you have proof for your financial institution should billing not be stopped for any reason. I'm not saying this is absolutely necessary and this advice on cancelling comes via other similar gyms I have cancelled from over the years. Not that I have any reason to cancel here, this place is a bargain! read more

I love Fitness Connection and can speak highly of this location. The gym is clean and I never really experienced machines being broken or having to wait too long for them. There is plenty to do and the staff is always friendly when greeting you. I had to cancel my membership because I moved but the manager was really understanding and helped me with canceling my membership without an issue. The people who go here go HAM! It's a good atmosphere. BUT, there are 3 major issues: 1) the hours are shit, esp on week days. 2) it's always smelling musty and hot in there as if the A/C isn't working, 3) there's no real designated area for stretching. And 3.5) As a woman, the women's only area is honestly useless. Just a small room with some hip abductors, ab machines, and light dumbbells. Exceptional customer service from Juan Tavarez and John Grub! These men helped me with my enrollment/membership. They were polite, welcoming, genuine, and exemplified great customer service skills! I'd recommend requesting them for membership inquiries! The monthly fee is dirt cheap! Can't get a better deal anywhere. It includes child care as well! In addition, my membership allows me to work out at any fitness connection location without any additional fees. There's a women's center and a women's cinema room where I can exercise without worrying about men staring (ladies, you know what I'm talking about, the thirst is real!). There are also two full-court basketball courts for those who hate having to wait for "next" at every gym with one court. This location plans to be open 24/7 in the near future! read more

I went at 9 PM driving 25 minutes to go to the gym assured by other employees previously that I can come in to obtain a membership pass. However after arriving, they informed me that I cannot get a pass. I even had a VIP guest pass because another member was here with me. The lady did not do anything to help and said I should have came in the morning. I work a 9-7 job. Who let's off all their employees so that they dont have one associate that can let me in the gym? The gym itself is pretty cool and the costs are very reasonable but I moved recently and this "no contract" cancellation process has been such a pain in the rear to cancel. There's no other location close to me otherwise I wouldn't have to cancel. Anyways, I called to cancel because apparently this is the only state you can't do that online or at the gym... they asked me to send a letter stating I wish to cancel. Apparently this letter never made it there, I don't see how.. it's 2018, get with the times! Cancelling by letter is a joke but I know damn well it should of been received. Dig though that pile of letters you got. I knew this crap was going to happen so I stopped payment. Some months later, I'm slapped with membership fees for the last 4 months. Now I'm needing to send another letter, a certified letter (mind you these costs money too) to cancel. I'm sending you your stupid letter which will probably never make it to the CEO but I wish you wouldn't make this process so difficult for people. Upon signing up, I was given no fine print to read, no email of my statement, NOTHING. I wasn't offered guest passes like my sister was offered. Don't be tricked when they say they would fulfill future promos to lower your monthly cost. I was told I would be given "the best personal trainer." The dude was cussing on our initial meet and telling me personal things about his life that made me feel super awkward. There is a general lack of professionalism. People at customer service are not knowledgeable about the promos. They ask me to fax in my statement- I wasn't given one! I'm still waiting on an emailed statement. They tell you that you can cancel anytime, but what you find out later is that it's a 30 day cancellation process, they still charge you for the month, you have to certify and mail in your request to cancel. It's a good gym overall. Like most gyms, it gets very busy during the week after normal work hours. However, it is a large gym with lots of equipment, free and machine weights and cardio equipment. I particularly like the large multipurpose/cross fit style racks/areas they have. The gym equipment and the locker rooms are generally well maintained. The men's bathroom is small, it could be larger for the number of people in the gym. The parking lot also fills up pretty quick so I usually have to park pretty far out. read more

This has to be the worst gym experience ever. First we got signed up by someone how told us that the $20 a month membership was not a commitment contract and was a month to month basis fee me and my friend signed up at the same time. Second when I went to sign up an associate let me know of this and bless him for trying to escalate the situation to his manager that kept avoiding me. Anthony the manager seemed to be aware of what the associate said but did not want personally handle it as I had to ask if it was him that was the manager as he swiftly passed by. Only then did he decide to ask me what was wrong when I told him I was lied to or mislead he simply told me it was above him and gave me a number to call. This number connects me to at home customer service representative that tells me she has no way of contacting her supervisor. Next send me a link to a Microsoft word form that has no way of reaching anyone. Anthony calls me the next day to confirm his victory lap and take my $99 so that I may get rid of this contract. Fitness connection is a terrible club and has no right to service people.
