This place is cool! I imagine it looks similar to what a pub in Ireland would look like, but I can't say for sure... yet. We stopped in on a Saturday and bellied up to the bar. The waitress was friendly & efficient. Between the three of us, we ordered a french onion soup, chicken tenders, the highlander burger and Guiness stew. The cheese on top of the french onion soup was cooked perfectly and the homemade croutons were a little bit crisp instead of soggy, which I very much liked. The broth needed a little something more in mine & my friends opinion... not sure what though. The chicken tenders were breaded with crushed up pretzels which is not something I have seen before and was the ultimate reason for my decision to order. The tenders were kind of small; the breading was nice and light and crispy, not too greasy; the chicken was cooked perfectly. I think there should have been a little seasoning added to the pretzel... it seemed like they used unsalted pretzels. The price of the tenders on the menu was incorrect & I made mention to the waitress, so I'd think they will update it soon. The highlander burger (which was my second choice) was a steak burger topped with an onion ring, pulled pork, bacon & cheddar. My friend said it was really good. The Guiness stew (which was actually my third choice haha) was enjoyed by my other friend. The burger & the tenders came with fresh cut fries & they were perfectly done & delicious! We love this place. But last time we were there it was one person serving. The bartender... We ordered the breaded mozzarella and I got a French onion soup. My soup was torched on top to the point the cheese was hard. To make matters worse, it tasted burned. Might be a minute before we come back but please take this as an opportunity to be careful. read more

Ordered shepherds pie, informed they were out. Ordered Guinness Stew, they only had enough for one serving. Employees blamed the owner for not ordering. Service was incredibly slow. And the appetizer (pretzel sticks) were burned. Bartender seemed very "flighty" and couldn't remember who ordered what food. The substitute bangers and Mash looked great, but were cold. I don't normally care about what the place looks like, but this is the closest you'll get to an Irish pub in NYS. The selection of authentic Irish beer is also very good. We decided to have the bangers and mash, which was very good, but the serving size was a bit small for a $12 dish. Either way, this is a place worth visiting and bringing friends with you. We are staying at an AirB&B in Lyndonville, so decided to run into Medina to find somewhere to eat. We were headed somewhere else, but happened to turn around and see a pub across the street and went in on a whim. We didn't see this listed on Yelp, and once I looked it up specifically I noticed that a couple reviews were not stellar. However, I must point out that anyone who orders chicken fingers, knowing they come pre-made and frozen no matter where you go, and then decides to get online to whine about them is absolutely ridiculous. (I just figured out we were on the listing for "Fitzgibbon's Public House," so I had to repost this here.) What a fantastic place! Staff was very friendly and helpful. Every inch is covered with fun architectural details and pictures. The service was great, and the food was excellent--especially at the price they were charging! Last night NYS added the "no food = no booze" rule so we ordered Bavarian pretzels with homemade Guinness cheese sauce and a piece of Boston Creme Cake (we had to, and absolutely no regrets) to go with our afternoon happy hour beverages. The best thing about this restaurant is the building it's in. I really enjoyed the look of it although I found the set up to be a little strange. Our waiter was friendly and everything was prepared relative quickly. I ordered the bangers and mash, which was decent. I thought the sausage was really good! My friend ordered the Highlander burger, which he said was good and the fries were tasty! We both got cocktails which were very strong and mine was kind of warm. I think it's definitely more of a beer place. But overall, this was an enjoyable experience. We will probably be back! read more

Saw this place when I was in town for the Christmas parade and knew I had to come back once they opened! They are still in their soft opening phase so their full menu isn't up and running yet, but the beer is flowing and I am all about the beer. The nitro pours were fabulous, and they have a decent tap list of local stuff in addition to the more traditional Irish fare. And there of course is wine and a full bar if beer isn't your thing. The pub itself is gorgeous. Beautifully carved wood everywhere you look and the decor is simple enough not to take away from the beauty of the building itself. I just love my native home of Western NY. I didn't pilot any fancy jet to get here from my current home in Tx but the trip in a old 1946 Cessna 1300 miles was worth it. On to the good stuff! Fitzgibbon's is such an outstanding pub to have a quick pint or a relaxing and refreshing lunch. I dined here with a large group (19 people) last weekend and overall was very pleased with the experience. We were driving in from out of the area, so I made reservations in advance to secure a spot for us. We were seated promptly and ended up having a private room at the back of the restaurant. While it did take longer to get our drinks, and especially our food than I would have expected, we were told that COVID had two employees call out that shift which left them understandably short handed. Out of the 19 orders, everything was served and billed correctly, and I got zero complaints which also never happens so I would be happy to return and enjoy the rest of the menu I didn't get a chance to try this visit. read more

After skydiving in the area we wandered around main street looking for a place to eat. Several seemed very expensive/upscale and we weren't greeted quickly so we left, and thankfully so. Fitzgibbon's was friendly from the get go, beautiful woodwork and a friendly crowd was at the bar. Our server greeted us immediately and let us take our pick of tables. We got fried pickles and fried mozzarella and honestly, both were a step of from the usual. They've got a wonderful selection of sauces, I think I was doing a sriracha variation and my boyfriend was hooked on the honey mustard. Both were generous servings. Our entrees were yum as well. I got the pretzel battered chicken strips and fries, and while the chicken strips might be smaller than expected they were delish and MORE than enough after our generous appetizers. My boyfriend got the beef on weck and was equally happy with his. We got cocktails as well and they were well made, a Fitzgibbon's Spritz for myself and a Jack and coke for him. The reasoning for my review is the hour and fifteen minute wait to receive our food on a Thursday where it wasn't very busy. This is a great pub for a casual lunch or dinner. I can't comment on too much of the food here because every time I go I just HAVE to get the rueben. It is huge and delicious, I usually have a hard time deciding between their kettle chips and fresh cut fries because they're both so good. The Guinness stew is really good when I need something warm and filling on a cold night. Shepherds pie is good, but too much food for me. I've had bites of burgers and they were good, but nothing too special. Love the atmosphere here. My only complaint (and this is a stretch) is the cold winter wind blows through the front door pretty bad when it's crappy out, so if we go when it's cold out we try to sit in the back or make sure to bring a sweater. read more

I was in town visiting family and we decided to check this place out. I was really surprised how cool the inside of Fitzgibbon's is, Medina has changed for the better since I've been gone. We ordered the pretzel appetizer which was amazing. I had the guiness stew, sister had the blu cheese burger, my mom and stepdad had the Shepard's pie. Everything was really good, loved the soda bread and fast service. The server was not very friendly and he didn't tell us the specials and didn't seem to know a lot about the menu, which is why i gave four stars. We did stop in a few days later on a Friday evening for the pretzel appetizer and a couple drinks, the bartender was so friendly and informative. My wife and I finally decided to try Fitzgibbons, and we were NOT disappointed. First the decor, it's very old world and so cute and was very clean, very welcoming and the woodworking looked beautiful. Second the service, our waitress was simply amazing. She was extremely pleasant and very prompt. I was absolutely thrilled that she correctly gendered me; Being transgender service is sometimes more important than the food itself, luckily here there's no compromise between the two. So if your reading this review, THANK YOU for being an amazing server and for being respectful, not everyone is. Third the food ......... what can I say about the food at Fitzgibbons ? Only that they serve probably THE BEST BURGER I've ever eaten. I had the Swiss and sautéed mushroom burger with lettuce, tomato and onion; I then put some mayo and the honey mustard sauce on it too ....... it was PHENOMENAL ! Perfectly cooked, great cut of meat for the ground burger, great portion size. I also got a side of the homemade chips that I dipped in the honey mustard sauce, soooooo good, very crisp and light. The chili I had was very good too, however I like my chili SPICY and this wasn't that. It was however a very well executed chili, thick, full flavored, just very homey. Finally desert ....... omg the desert ...... the bread pudding they serve is out of this world, and I usually HATE bread pudding. It was originally my wife's desert, however it smelled so good I had to try some, and I ended up eating half of it ! Where to start, upon entering the establishment I was met with a scent that could ruin an appetite. Regardless, I chose to sit down with the strong recommendation from a friend. After, we were greeted by a waitress who didn't even introduce herself, wiped her nose, and gave us our drinks. Then, she came back to say "what do you want" and didn't write down our order. After roughly 1 hour of not coming back to our table, our drinks were gone and we had to call her over and check on where our food was. She then said she would check but that there was just a large order and it would be a bit, although others around us who came in after were receiving their orders. Again after 20 additional minutes came back to our table to let us know that our order wasn't even put in...most likely due to the lack of not writing our order down. She then just said "well you'll probably just want to leave then," in which we gladly took up the offer. I would not recommend coming to this place unless you're looking for a dirty bar to just have drinks in, you most likely will not receive your food or receive good customer service. I would give the atmosphere an A+ Unfortunately the food did not live up to the beautiful atmosphere. We ordered pretzels and beer cheese for an appetizer. They were literally the same frozen pretzels that I can buy at the grocery store. Very disappointing. We also ordered the chip butty upon the recommendation of the server. It lived up to the description of "french fries served on a buttered roll." My husband had the blue cheese burger and it was your average burger with blue cheese on top. As a Scotsman I'm alway interested to try attempts at British food in the colonies. I heard about this place from a work colleague while it was under renovation so today was the day to go try it. I ordered a cup of stew in Guinness gravy to share with my wife. I also ordered bacon & blue burger and wifey ordered fish n chips. The stew (mostly potatoes with small shavings of steak in it) was pretty good the gravy was amazing but too much potato and not enough steak for $3.50. The burger was very average compared to burgers I've had at other places. I didn't ask but the burger looked like a frozen Walmart style burger patty. Tasteless and better suited as a coaster for our drinks. My wife had the fish fry which looked amazing and tasted really really good. A bit greasy but hey it's deep fried fish what else would you expect. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful and not hanging over you every 5 minutes asking if everything is ok. Our server, Pete was great. All in all, I give it two stars but if I do go back I'll probably go with the fish n chips as my meal of choice. read more

First the good: beautiful pub, great layout and atmosphere, a nice selection of beer in bottle and on tap. They have a resident drunk who sits outside and haggles. The menu is small but adequate. The chili was excellent, the banger rolls quite good. Now the bad: I will admit that I'm hard to please- that said, if your customer is sitting in front of you showing you your pub's website which clearly says Thursday's special is $1 off seasonal beer... don't tell me that the website needs to be updated and there's no beers on special! The kilted waitress was clueless and apparently the kilted bartender was too. I enjoyed my Southern Tier Warlock anyway, and The Man savored his Kilkenny Nitro draft. Although, this confuses me- who renovates a pub and puts one person bathrooms in? It wasn't even crowded today and I had some lady rattling the handle while I took care of business. This is a recipe for happy hour disaster. Best of luck to these guys, I know they are still in their infancy- I will be back soon for a burger and a beer. There is something about this place I can't quite put my fingers on. It could be such a great place, the ambience is great, but the food is pretty bad. I've been her several times and I've had different things and each time the food is less than good. Many times I've gone it's been pretty dead. My latest trip I had the bangers and mash with the spinach artichoke dip for an appetizer. Nothing about the food stands out. I hope they get a new chef one that is creative and puts out good food. This place could be so awesome but they really need to get their food up to par. I can not recommend it for the food but if you just want a few drinks they are decent. read more
