The have a great selection of snack some interesting drinks and small toys galore. But the one thing I find weird is they didn't have any bags to put your stuff in when you checkout. I don't believe I saw a sign on the door saying they were out. I told the cashier they could at least have a pile of boxes so people could use them if needed. 12/09/25 @11:45 am I was scanning with my newborn in my arms, I was taking my time I was in no rush. An older lady that works there with blondish hair was working the checkout lanes. I felt like she judged me off the top with me trying to shop lift. I'm Latina she's Latina so it wasn't a racism thing. She was literally behind me the entire time pacing back and forth. Talking in Spanish asking if I need help I told her no thank you in the nicest way possible, she grabbed my wrapping paper as if I wasn't going to grab it to scan and asked again if she can scan it for me I told her no again and grabbed the wrapping paper back. Now I'm irritated, like don't touch my stuff. I felt like telling her to relax. Don't disable me because I have a child in my hands if I want to take my time to scan let me. I was in this store earlier today and got profiled. The customers at the self check out that were before and after me did not get their receipt checked. I was the only person that was asked for a receipt. The manager said it was not their policy to check receipts when I called. I also asked for a bag after the employee was done checking all my items that I paid for and she just walked away. I tried getting the employee's named that asked for my receipt and refused to give me a bag but she refused so i couldn't tell management when I called. The customer service at this location was subpar seeing they like to make up policies and be rude in general. read more

Regarding Associate 111111 We shopped at Five Below Store #01319 for a phone accessory around 7:38pm on 8/1/24. From the moment we arrived there was no greeting. And once done with our shopping, got in line and right away the cashier clerk looked back at us with a snotty attitude and said "I'll be right there in a minute." We would had waited 5 minutes or 10 minutes but because her approach to us was short and unpleasant I asked her if we could use the other register that was open and had the light on. She again answered with a snotty voice", I'll be there in a minute." "I have to scan it (the item). And she returned to speak to the other customer in a pleasant manner while with me and my husband her demeanor was rude. The store clerk took her sweet time to continue to speak to the other customer as the line got longer and more people needed to walk to the register yet were on hold because the clerk had a power trip to control the the other register. Once the clerk finally gave us the okay to walk to the register she just stood there watching us like if we were children and she was the overseer then continued to help the first customer before us and again spoke to the the first customer in a pleasant way while the whole time she treated us as children and made all the other customers after us wait longer. All of this could had been prevented with a smile and courteous approach by store clerk while she kept the flow of line moving along but she didn't. It seemed as if she hated her job and didn't want to working there. Over all it was a un-pleasant experience in the end. Then as we walked outside my husband shared that he didn't like her attitude too. So I called the store asked for the manager and according to the person who answered by the name of Sophia said she was going to talk to the store clerk but I wasn't convinced because the "manager" didn't ask me questions or take down information. Went inside to let my two toddlers pick out anything they liked by the time we went to check out the cashier Sofia just grabbed my thing out of my hand and started scanning. Didn't even give me a chance to set them down. Very rude. So she continued to scan the things and everyone else was scanning there own. After she scanned she just kept on staring at me and my kids like if they were going to take something else. And she ignored everyone else. Sofia is very unprofessional. Did not feel welcomed to come back with my two little ones. And my toddlers are well educated and know not to grab anything and teach them the correct way is to pay first before anything. read more

Another discount store has landed in Downey! I would say this store is a mash up of Big Lots and the 99 cents only store and the dollar spot at Target. The title speaks for itself , Five Below. Everything is $5 or less. This store is fairly new to Downey and is nicely organized and well kept. The white and bright aesthetic is super pleasing to the eyes and makes shopping fun. On a personal note, my teenage son loves coming here to shop. He's found several amiibos (???) that he didn't have for $5. I've brought my nephews here on a mini shopping spree and they loved it too. There are a lot of cute items, seasonal items, and even a few name brand items . Their candy section is really cool, super organized. The back section has tons of t shirts that are really contemporary. I can't wait to see what they stock for Halloween and other holidays! read more

One of my client's told me about this discount store and so I had to check it out for myself. It's cool that they have all sorts of things from$1-$5 like clothes, candies, household items, etc. I saw some great deals on jumbo bags of Trolli Sour candy for $5. But I had my eye out for some things I could use for the groups I facilitate like colored pencils or markers. Those items were overpriced and I could find them cheaper at Target or Walmart. I did find some adult coloring books and grabbed me one that had some positive affirmations. I think this store is hit or miss and will have to keep an eye out for bargains. read more

All the t-shirts are $5.00 and sometimes you find good t-shirts with pop culture characters like Disney, Marvel, and Star Wars. The t-shirts are made of good quality and should last for a while. They are a little tight, so I always suggest getting a size bigger. You can find cute gift ideas to give to family and friends. The gifts can be home décor items, beauty products, and toys. This store is in the Downey Promenade and it has plenty of parking. The store was very clean, and the items were stocked well organized. I didn't interact much with staff because everything is easy to find. This store is very convenient because it carries movie theater candy for $1.00. Store was messy and un organized and when my 6 year old needed a restroom was denied entry to it. The most infuriating thing was that as we were checking out I heard the store staff speaking among themselves and the message was that the restrooms were out of order and the statement they made was un true so they lied about the restrooms being out of order just sad to deny a child use of the restroom read more
