Lots of deals to be found in here! I made a stop for stocking stuffers and last minute Christmas gift additions and was able to get some quality items less than $5 each. Included in my haul were giant Ferraro Rocher hazelnut chocolates (how yummy!), batteries of course, super cozy fuzzy long slipper socks and toys. Great place to get odds and ends things for a low price.

I'm quickly becoming a fan of Five Below!!! When I walked in I was instantly welcomed/greeted by two employees. The store is clean and very well organized, Infact NOTHING was out of place. They even had great music playing thru out. Just those few things makes shopping an enjoyable experience!!!! This place seems to have it all...... From candy and snacks to custom t shirts, cell phone cases, work out equipment, greeting cards, electronic gadgets, posters, shoes, sun glasses, summer & pool supplies, etc, etc, etc. This list just goes on and on. As the name says..... Everything is 5 bucks or less. Infact several things were well under 5 bucks. I definitely recommend to anyone, stop by for a look around. I think you'll be surprised at what all is in there!!

Nice space filled with tons of balloon choices, stuffed animals, Graeter's ice cream, lots of fudge choices, and specialty truffles, bonbons, etc... I am not a fan of chocolate, etc, but I could appreciate the detail, presentation and most certainly the taste these beauties contained. I got a delicious and refreshing raspberry sorbet, and my husband got the bourbon ball (?) ice cream, which he thoroughly enjoyed. Both employees were friendly and helpful while we made our choices. We ate them at their table outside. From the other reviews I read after we went there, they seem like a fantastic small business, so patronize them!

Their truffles looked beautiful, so I decided to order a small box to go. I got carrot cake, dark champagne, s'mores, and peanut butter chocolate (that wasn't the name, but the flavor profile is like Reese's). I haven't tried them yet, but they look and smell good, and I know they'll be excellent. All the while, I had excellent conversation with the staff there -- I didn't catch her name though. Swing by if you're in town!

We especially loved the heart shaped red hot candies. They give out samples to taste. The red hots are perfect! Not burn your mouth hot! I bought several bags to take home to friends in California. We enjoyed exploring the museum room with all of the candy tins from years past. They have original candy making equipment and all of the history to offer a nostalgic experience. Be sure to try the marshmallow, chocolate carmel and pecan treat. The Modjeskas definitely came home with us to share with family and friends. I love these little town treasures!

Now, imagine the nuggets were sold by the pound, and you paid for the extra ones you didn't want. I fully accept the fact that I might be wrong, but when I sat down just outside, I found more than I'd expected/wanted, and I paid for it. Okay... maybe it was an "oopsie-doodle", it was near my birthday, so all is forgiven. What about the chocolates? I can't deny that the selection is amazing, however, where it comes to quality, I have to admit I was not blown away. That isn't to say I felt they weren't great - they were! At the same time, there are other candy stores with similar products and concepts whose products are no worse. So, what does that leave us with? Schimpff's Confectionery is a very good, old-timey candy store. However, while I can't say their ranking as #1 best candy store in America in 2025 by USA Today is undeserved. However, I personally wouldn't go too far out of my way to get some of their chocolate candies.

The storefront is the cutest with pink motif colors... pink awning, pink doors, pink signage. Inside is nostalgic. They have pre-packaged candy as well as candy by the pound. Mix & match chocolates from the Sugar Bar and choose from a large or small candy cup. I chose the small candy cup for $10 and had it filled with milk chocolate peanuts and milk chocolate raisins. Look for the sidewalk signs to lead the way. And despite it's small size it is absolutely chock full of sweet goodness! I saw several candy brands that made me feel nostalgic. Macarons are a signature -- definitely check out the large case of many flavors. And it boasts a case of so many chocolatey treats. I ended up getting some chocolate dipped Oreos, sprinkled in edible glitter, for my kids, who went nuts over them. (I maybe snuck a bite too!) I love taking time to explore New Albany, to see what new-to-me shops I can discover. The New Albany Sugar Shoppe was a highlight during my recent trip across the river.
