I attend 5 Dimes Brewery on May 4, 2024 to see a band called "Incidental Contact" with a very large group of friends. I felt welcomed by your staff, and didn't realize the Brewery was an actual 5 &10 store years past. It was my first here and seeing the band and both in my opinion get each. Belgian blonde ale! Yes! IPAs were traditional and delicious. Wrapped the flight with a barleywine. Interesting, barleywine had a hint of root-beer flavor. Typically would have a malty/caramel, but it was good to catch something different. read more

love this location & branding. the facility itself is beautiful. open and airy, you can enjoy a drink downstairs in a living room-esque area, hightop table, or at the bar. follow the stairs or the elevator and make your way to the rooftop area. they have options to remain inside (there are glass garage style windows that open and close depending on weather), or head out to the exposed roof top area. they have hightop lunch style tables and seats along the ledge. there are bathrooms up here too. as of now i believe there were 8 types of beer on tap & they do flights of 4 choices. the beer was good, but nothing to impress me with. i am sure this will change as time goes on. looking forward to coming back. ps parking in this area sucks, might be best parking in one of the munincipal lots. read more

So I've been there twice. It's a wonderful addition to downtown Westwood. The beers are great. It draws a good crowd and that's a great thing. That said. Look at your bill and your credit card statement. Pay attention. I've had to dispute my bill both times and the bartenders tend to throw out your itemized bill so all you get is the merchant copy and customer copy without knowing what you purchased. So, go and enjoy the beer but pay attention to your bill. read more

Tried out Five Dimes for the first time on Saturday night. The brewery is really cool. There were a lot of places to sit and it was busy but not packed. My husband and I sat right in the middle of the bar area eager to try some beers. 2 things stood out to me. First off the service was slowwww. There were two people behind the bar moving at a glacial pace. They looked miserable and didn't even acknowledge us. We finally get to order our beers and the price! Wowza. 17 bucks for two 10 or 12 oz pours? There's a lot of local breweries around here that make you feel welcome and for a fraction of the price. I'll stick to those! read more

As a new brewery, this one seems to be doing pretty well. It is a great location and adjacent to a pizzeria, so everything you might need is in arm's reach. When we arrived, it was packed and all open tables were dirty. It took over an hour to see them bus the tables, and by then it had cleared out. It is also ungodly loud in there. You can tell they are working it out as they go. The beer is good (we tried their IPAs), if you can work up the courage to fight the crowds to the bars. There are also kids running amuck and families who take up large amounts of seating for their baggage and other belongings. I really hope to see this place succeed as it is a short drive from my house, but the atmosphere needs to be tweaked to reach its full potential as a local staple. Maybe we will try again on another day. read more

Not sure why, but the quality of the beer has gone since they opened. They've had like 3 or 4 brewmasters since they opened about a year or so ago. Lots of times the beer you order isn't available. And the beer is mediocre. Too many little kids running around screaming at the top of their lungs. They take over the shuffleboard table and throw the pucks. They shouldn't be allied to use it.Parents don't watch them and the staff doesn't care. I've been there three times hoping it's changed but it hasn't. Won't last long if this keeps up. read more

I had been here once before and wanted to give this place another shot. I went there on a quiet holiday weekend. It looked pretty calm in there, I got a couple of slices from the pizzeria next door to bring in. The calm adult atmosphere of this place was short-lived. A steady stream of strollers and toddlers started filling up the place. It got to a point where all I heard was the shrieking and crying of children. Don't get me wrong, I love kids and have raised my own. However, a brewery is the last place I would expect to be jam-packed with children. There are plenty of establishments in Westwood that cater to families with children. I really find it odd that an establishment whose specialty is brewing adult beverages caters to children. I would say Five Dimes on the average is 60% families with young kinds all day and all night. I really wanted to try and make this one of my go-to's and to like this place. They'll come back and say "we pride ourselves on being a family-friendly environment." The place is overrun with children and parents who don't watch them. And for that alone, it's a deal-breaker for me. read more

Tried this brewery on a Saturday afternoon. I had a New England IPA; it was pretty good. I would've tried another IPA as well, but they had already ran out. I am of course keeping in mind that this place has only been open for a few weeks, but the experience of the place was not great. They have a lot of things to work out as they grow. First of all, there was no organization given how crowded it was. It was difficult to get a beer and incredibly difficult to close out our tab. The bar downstairs felt too small for the size of the brewery. One employee would be filling crowlers to go and taking up a given tap for a long time, taking away from the ability for other employees to grab beers efficiently. There has to be a better way to do this. We also got charged a $20 "hold" on our card, but that was not explained when we ordered. An hour after we were there, my boyfriend got the credit card notification and we were quite confused. We also didn't personally enjoy how many children were there. This of course is preference, but when a brewery is crowded to the point of it being hard to find a seat as a paying customer, it's frustrating to see groups with a ton of children taking up seats when they obviously cannot purchase anything (they brought in juice boxes for them and such). There was a whole little league baseball team there with their parents and they took up a large portion of the upstairs seating, which was frustrating. When I'm at a brewery, I don't enjoy having elementary aged kids running up and down through the facility and bumping into me. Maybe the aim of this brewery is to be just that: a very family friendly place. If so, that is fine, but it's not for me. I wish they would advertise that way, because it was truly surprise to me. I've never once had that experience inside at a brewery (of course some parents bring their baby or kids, but I'm not referring to that as it is controlled-- what I mean is that I have never seen actual groups of kids hanging out running around like this while their parents all hang out). I'll give this brewery another chance in a few months to see if things settle down a bit, but for now I'll stick to my favorites in the area. read more

Good quality beers with new beers coming all the time. No food is allowed, but there are great options close by that you can bring in. It's an absolutely beautiful location right in downtown. The front area is very open to the sidewalk, and the roof deck is huge with tons of seating. I'm really glad to have a place like this in town, it has really brought some life to Westwood! read more

Walking by on Memorial Day weekend, I thought I would give this place another try since it was pretty empty and we saw only adults inside. After bringing pizza in and ordering a flight, my boyfriend and I enjoyed about 10 minutes before the babies and toddlers started coming in. In about 15 minutes, at least 10 children came in. We would have stayed for more, but the adult atmosphere instantly became a playground. Never. Ever. Again. From now on, I will only be frequenting places that serve alcohol in adults only establishments. There are plenty of places in Westwood that cater to children. The brewery should not be one of them. read more

Absolutely love this spot. It is a great space for hanging out with friends and the staff is so welcoming. Their selection of in-house brewed beers has an option for everyone's taste and they change seasonally so you can always try something new. It's the only local spot with a rooftop deck and it is so worth checking out on a nice day. They don't serve food on site, however they allow guests to bring food (and there are so many places close by to chose from). read more

The Five Dimes Brewery is a very nice brewery with 3 floors for seating. They have good beer offerings, and you can bring in your own food. (NJ brewery's are not allowed to sell food). The only downside to this brewery is that they allow children. There were a lot of kids running around, playing tag, screaming, and banging into people while their parents were not paying attention to them. I even saw one child get hurt by running into a table. The management does nothing to stop the kids or tell the parents that they have to watch their children. Most people would like to enjoy having a few good beers, and relaxing without unruly children running around. This place could be a complete gem but felt more like a chucky cheese with beer. read more
