I always get chicken fingers and my husband gets a different burger each time. We LOVE the gringo dip!

If I could give no star, I would. Unfortunately the manager David at this location acted very childish, disrespectful, and unapologetic. My friend tried to have a get together here for 10-15 people and called 1 month in advance and was told it would be no problem. Then a day before the get together called again and was told again no problem. We arrived the day of early to make sure the night would go smoothly and unfortunately it did not. We were told to wait 30 min after arriving early and told about the reservation and after the 30 min asked to speak with a manager about the confusion and miscommunication. We were met with David being very rude and unapologetic. He had no interest with helping the situation or explaining why the previous phone conversations went as they did. After a lot of arguing he finally pushed two tables together and then rudely and childlike stood by the table and with a sly smile on his face with no apology. We wanted to move forward with our night and he still stood at the table just to infuriate us. Because of this experience we left and he came right up to the table and again stood in a childlike behavior waving and smiling to egg us on. I really hope this is not a reflection on who you are and who you hire but I will not return neither will the rest of the people in the party. Never have I been treated this way. read more

Service at the bar is great! Gloria is super friendly and the drinks (perfecto margarita with 818 tequila and red sangria) are amazing! Food has been hit or miss. I recommend the tater kegs, smash burger, ribs and French dip. Don't recommend The filet or Baja Dippers. The new set up is also great. read more

Today I had the wonderful privilege of taking my daughter out to lunch. It's been a while since we've been to 54th Street Grill so we decided to check if out. I asked the waitress many questions about menu items. She was extremely helpful. Upon her recommendations we started with the gringo cheese dip. The cheese dip was really good. On the same platter you also get a small cup of salsa. It's obvious this salsa is dumped out of a can. My daughter ordered a prime rib French dip, which came recommended from the waitress. She's was very satisfied. I ordered the all you can eat soup and salad. The first bowl of soup is a good sized portion. I started with the steak soup. While it may not look appetizing especially in a picture, it was great. The second and following orders come in a small dish which is less than 1/4th the size of the first bowl. I ordered the chicken tortilla soup. While it was decent, the small portion is all I cared to have. It does get noisy in here, but we knew that already from past experience. While we probably wouldn't stop here if we wanted a nice quiet evening out, it is a great spot for a quick quality lunch. read more

Visited Independence for the first time today (Sunday). Decided to eat here. Got there around 4 pm. When we walked in, the workers at the front didn't even greet us. Didn't even say hello or what. Took forever for our server to ask for our drinks. Took forever for our server to ask what we want. Food took forever. Food is OKAY. Not going back here again. I have discovered since writing my first review that the best way to enjoy this place is to order curbside at their drive through. Inside this place is always a hectic, noisy mess, but outside you can order off the app in advance, park in the numbered spots on the west side of the building, and they will bring your food out to your car. Their staff is extremely friendly and efficient at their drive through, and the food has always been hot and very, very good. I've ordered their giant Nachos, the Prime Rib French Dip, the Tortilla Wrap, the Taco Platter, the Border Attack, and some of their salads. All have been delicious. And they've always gotten the orders right except for once. I noticed before I left, notified them, and they brought it right out to me, so it was a non-event. The only downside to the drive through is you can't get their really good cocktails, which set off the meals excellently. But you can buy the ingredients for the drinks beforehand and make the cocktails yourself when you reach home with your food. Win/Win! Love this place. I'm going back inside if I can find some time when it's relatively quiet, like a Tuesday afternoon, so I can order a drink with my meal. Till then it's the drive through for me! read more

We were seated quickly. Our waitress was very nice. Our appetizer was delicious. We asked for our buns to be raw. We received full done. She took them back and brought us two new ones. We couldn't even eat them because they were so dry. We were each given a $25 gift card for the future. We will not be having burgers from there again. read more

I have been to 3 other 54th Street restaurants and have to say this one is by far my favorite unless it just so happened to be the service that night. The place was filled with customers but the place was nice and clean. The service was fast & friendly. The food was prepared as requested and was nice and hot when it arrived. Everything had great flavor including the broccoli. And the children's penne pasta was more than enough for my two year old. She ate the left overs the next day. I will definitely only go to this 54th Street from now on. read more

I'm so glad this location has reopened. I ordered the Lemon Pepper Wings, always my favorite, they were awesome. The Chicken Quesadillas were meaty and seasoned. The Pico was lacking freshness. The Adult Mac and Cheese could be a bit cheesier. The Key Lime Pie was good, and the whip cream was standard with lime shavings. The Queso Dip is on point. The car pick was great. When I called to add to my order the person was chipper, upbeat and very helpful. The reason for my call was to add extra Queso Dip to my order because I could not find it on the online menu. I'm beyond upset with this location. I've been here once prior to the whole corona pandemic. They forgot to put our order in and the wait was ridiculous. A couple days ago I had a caramel brownie for the first tome here. I called it in to blue springs and picked it up with no issues. I decided tonight I wanted it again so I called it in. For two brownies it would be an hour wait they said. I said ok and headed out that way to get in line. I waited for two hours in line. Then only was given one brownie. ( at this point it is 10:00) I told them i needed one more brownie and she told me I only paid for one. Well that's not my mistake first but second I waited two hours for two freaking brownies. But whatever. I was going to pay it. Then she tells me she has to make sure they can still do a second brownie. Excuse me but I waited here for two hours. Meanwhile many many MANY cars behind me got their food already because they have absolutely no order at all what so ever here. They had tables set up inside with loads of food. Just grabbing random bags and handing them to the cars. It doesn't matter if you were first or last in line. It's just whatever they happen to grab. My ice cream was complete liquid and my brownie was cold. I am so extremely upset with this location. They need to get a stable plan together on how to handle big call ins. The medium rare filet mignon I ordered was neither a filet nor medium rare, but instead a hockey puck of bright glowing red meat with a singed outside. Used to be a great place, we did go a few times a month but the past couple times have been horrible, specificaly to this review we went there today the food was fine but the service was terrible! The bartender seemed that they went out of there way to not provide service to us, normally when our drinks are empty with sitting at the bar they usually ask if you would like another 20min after finishing my first drink was never was asked. We got the 2 can dine deal which included a desert we advised we would like the cheese cake when we finished our food, when we did we waited a good 10min before the bartender lady said have they not brung your desert out yet, we said no she left quickly and brought back to wrong desert and still did not ask if we wanted another drink, out of protest we didn't eat the dessert kinda hinting at our frustartion that they would possibly see and understand that and ask if everything was ok to possible rectify the issues we had but nothing was said we paid the bill and left instead of having a good night out, we just felt frustated wondering why we received such terrible service if it was personal or if they just didn't care.. Normally if all the bar stools are filled this would be understandable but in this case it was bairly a quarter full. read more

The prices here aren't too bad and they have a huge variety on their menu. They do have a happy hour and a reverse happy hour that offer better deals on the food and drink, though. The first thing I ask for is a 24 ounce Guinness beer(see posted pictures). Mmmmm beer. Then after salivating over the menu I pick out something to fit my mood. Today I chose the "Blackened Chicken Grille"(description below). The atmosphere says "drink up and have fun". Although it is sometimes loud I always have a good time. The staff is friendly and they always seat you fast. I wish they had one of these in Denver. I recommend 54th Street Grill & Bar for a casual fun and tasty lunch or dinner. Tacos on happy hour (1.75, fried) and cherry limeades. I've found other menu items over rated, and that was my pre yelp life. I didn't visit this for a long time, till my son said he went there for steak. He said it was good. I have had their cherry limeades which rock, but at over 400 cals, damn... I didn't order ahead of time, I just went in and sat at the bar....I ordered, and waited a bit. I should've ordered iced tea or water. A football game was on their countless t.v.s. The restaurant itself was crowded, always is, by the looks of the parking lot. I got my 6 tacos, for 2 of us, and I left. The fried tacos are large, not dinky, for $1.75, they are worth it. They provide alot of sauce, and by my third, I was full. I enjoyed the tacos, and the service inside was up to par. My family and I were in town on our way home from the annual family Thanksgiving gathering and we found this place by accident and we were blown away. Service 5/5 Food 5/5 Price 5/5 It was phenomenal in every way. I had some of the best fish tacos I've ever had and my sister had a steak unlike any other. Couldnt be happier with our visit. Service was both prompt and polite, the manager even came out just to make sure everything was going well. While I don't live in the area I would definitely consider eating here. All We had to do was call up 54th Street and order the wings, even adding a special request for me (more celery sticks). Our daughter had a grilled cheese, pretty basic right? Well it came with fries, a drink, a cookie and I think something else. (Impressive) We placed our order 25 minutes until kickoff and made it back in time!! We went to pick it up. I went to 54th Street around 10 PM after work with a co-worker. Their margaritas are huge and only $3.99 during their night time happy hour. I also had their potato skins appitizer. Everything was delicious and our server was attentive but 54th Street doesn't stand out at all from another Applebee's or Chile's or TGI Friday's. They all seem the same. read more

There were a lot of people in the restaurant for lunch time, but there was no wait to get a table. I was surprised that the noise level was so well controlled for the amount of people in there. Our waiter, Brandon, gave us great service. He constantly checked on us to make sure our drinks were filled and that our food was good. He gave us some great food recommendations that were fantastic. The Havanna sandwich was so good. The person I was with ordered the jambalaya but because it was a new dish it took a while to get cooked correctly. Not my favorite location at all. I actually came here for the first time to this location last night on a whim. Food was great but, the service and GNAT INFESTATION at the patio bar has lead me to leave two stars. My husband I were swatting gnats during our entire stay. They actually ran us out of the restaurant before we were finished with our meal and drinks. A different bartender took over half way through our meal and I wish she hadn't. Very strong personality, in your face type of service. Not my style. Nonetheless, we scored the perfect spot during a busy Friday night but, those darn gnats. Yuck! read more

Considering the constant line - I was let down once inside. The staff was certainly great and the selection and pricing was ok - it just didn't rate up there as I expected - not sure why everyone flocks to this place. It isn't bad, but parking can stink! Wife and I went here on a visit to KC area. I wanted to watch the Stanley Cup playoffs, and we were both hungry. Killed 2 birds with 1 stone. We got the 3 course meal for 2. Was around $30 when all was said and done. We thought it was a pretty good value. Had the gringo queso and chips to start, which was our favorite part of the meal. I had a cheeseburger for the main course. We got the chocolate cake for the dessert. All were tasty. Service was prompt and friendly. I would visit again if I'm ever back in KC. read more

Have watched this restaurant slowly decline to where it is now. Used to be the best. Doesn't seem like they care anymore. Drinks were terrible and had no alcohol so we asked for different ones. Next ones came out and were obviously made by someone who was mad about them being sent back. Missing ingredients. Plain terrible.Manager came over and asked if they were better with a smile on his face. I said they weren't. He asked if we wanted something else and I said no thanks. The full drinks sat on our table throughout the meal and were on the bill. Ordered blackened salmon and it came out sweet bourbon glazed.
