This was my first time, but not my last time. Our service was top notch started from the moment we were seated to the moment we left, the manager even came by to make sure we were doing okay. My drink was tasty in well worth. The price and my food was amazing and healthy win win! The restaurant was packed because people were watching soccer, but we were fortunate to find a great parking spot, but it was a little challenging to leave because people were parking all over the place to try to get in. Look forward to coming back when we are in town.

Used to be called 54th Street Grill is now Five Four. I see a lot has changed, they have definitely upgraded and turned into nice sports bar with so much seating. I remember they used to have the best Baked Potato Soup and yes that still stands true, sooo rich and creamy and comforting. I also ordered the Lemon Pepper Wings and Red Sangria. Everything tasted great! Our service was great. My friend is a regular there and a few servers came over to talk. This place will be a definite go to next time I'm in town.

Foods amazing, service was amazing, just thought it was a little strange that the busser spits on the floor as he works, currently sitting here rn and saw that as he was walking

I've been to Five Four, as it's called now, a few times, and it's pretty consistenly great--but with some caveats. The food is very tasty, I'm never disappointed with the flavors. But when I'm trying to eat healthy, they fall short. Basically, when I'm ordering healthier-sounding options, like the brussels sprouts, they are super greasy... so it's kinda disappointing when you're trying to eat healthy and the food comes unnecessarily unhealth-ified., if that's a word. Brussel Sprouts don't need all that grease to be great! As far as prices, they do run on the high side, but they have a great, more affordable lunch menu which we always order from. The interior has been remodeled somewhat recently, I think. It seems more modern and nice. One thing to note - it does get pretty crowded around lunchtime, which is a good sign - people really like it here. But if you don't like crowds/noise, come early! The service here has always been good, and this time was no different. Our waiter was attentive and polite. I give Five Four 4 stars - mostly good, but a few things they could improve (actual healthy options and prices). :)

Our server was so helpful and efficient with taking out orders. The 2 for $40 deal is great with appetizer, 2 entrees and a dessert is great! Newly decorated tables and walls give this restaurant a very different feel in a good way.

Got carry out here tonight. Order was correct was but was just ok. The salmon was overcooked and the Brussels sprouts were bitter and not tender. My chicken was pretty good but fairly chewy. My biscuit was very chewy and I did not enjoy the potatoes. Salads were both good. Portions pretty good. And price.

What a wonderful meal and overall experience! We went on a packed Friday night after joining the wait list for 1 hour. The service was great--our server was very personable and nice although clearly quite busy! The food was great too. Although this wasn't my favorite chicken fried steak (could use more seasoning on this and the gravy), I was glad I could chose both side and absolutely loved the brussel sprouts which came with goat cheese and craisins! This was the highlight of my meal. The Mac and cheese side had a great deal of crunch which I love, but could have used more cheese sauce in my opinion. The cheddar biscuit was alright, nothing special. Overall for $17 this was a huge and very good meal! The energy here was great--I would definitely come back!

Does anyone know if the recipe for the gringo dip changed? I bought some yesterday and it did not taste the same like it usually does.

Hi Cindy, we have not changed the Gringo Dip recipe. It is possible that something was incorrectly prepped. I will pass this along to the team at the Independence location so we can make sure it is being made correctly. If you would like someone to…

The PB & J Burger sounds wild on paper, but it absolutely works. The peanut butter brings that rich, savory creaminess, and paired with the jalapeño jelly, it hits this perfect sweet-with-a-kick balance that keeps every bite interesting. It's one of those burgers that makes you stop after the first bite like, "okay... this is legit." The Sweet Heat Burger leans even more into that flavor combo. The sweetness comes through first, then the heat builds, and that jalapeño jelly really ties it all together, adding both sweetness and a subtle spice that doesn't overpower the burger itself. It's bold, messy in the best way, and just really well executed. Neither of these quite cracked my personal #1 burger of all time, but they're not far off. Both were seriously delicious, packed with flavor, and easily worth trying if you're in the area.

Good menu selections to choose from and they have a rotational burger to show their flair. I got the double cheeseburger with extra pickles and it did not disappoint.

We met at Café Cà Phê's four-year anniversary…read more I came around the corner and there they were. We locked eyes. I couldn't believe they were staring right at me. For a brief moment, I thought I heard music. There was a DJ, actually. But that's not how I remember it. I remember the bus. Yellow and black, impossible not to notice. Anime artwork stretched across the side. Go Chew Burger. At the window, someone was waiting who was every bit as inviting as the aroma coming out of that heavenly little bus. I started looking over the menu, and there, winking at me, was the GOCHEW Burger. They mentioned the double patty. I hesitated. "We won't tell anybody." Two patties it was. They also talked me through the kimchi: fresh or charred. They gave me enough information to make me feel like I was making all the decisions. Double patty. Charred kimchi. Loaded fries. I was all in. While I waited, I did what anyone with an infatuation does: research. I learned about Joohae "Chewy" Yoon and what she's trying to do with GOCHEW--take Korean flavors and put them into foods people already know. Burgers. Fries. Familiar food carrying something new. Then the buzzer went off. Time for our first date. No chairs. No tables. Things were getting a little awkward, so we went back to the car. The fries had lost their crispness to the sauces and steam, but I didn't care. The Korean BBQ sauce was sweet and savory, the gochujang brought mild heat, the creamy lime sauce cut through it all, and the bright green chives pulled everything together. Incredible. But the burger? Perfectly crisped edges. Juicy, hot beef. Melted cheese. Charred kimchi bringing sweetness and acidity. Three sauces that somehow never fought for attention. And the bun had a serious responsibility. Two patties. Cheese. Kimchi. Three sauces. Everything depended on it. Spider-Man protects New York and everyone who depends on him. This bun had the same problem. With great power comes great responsibility. And it held. Mostly. The attraction was still there. The infatuation was still there. But they had become something else entirely. Love. This wasn't just a good burger. This is the best smash burger I've had in Kansas City. Chewy set out to make people fall in love with Korean food by putting those flavors into things they already know. I think she got me.

The carhops came right up to our window to take our order and were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The menu is surprisingly large for such a small place. We ordered the Wiz Burger, chicken nuggets, tots, onion rings, fries, and Brown Cow root beer floats. Prices were very reasonable, which was a nice bonus. One thing I really loved was the option to order their homemade root beer in an ice-cold glass mug (which you return when you're done). It definitely adds to the nostalgic experience. Our favorite items were the crispy tater tots, the chicken nuggets (which were more like mini chicken strips), and the root beer floats. The Wiz Burger was definitely unique, but it wasn't a crowd-pleaser in our car. It's made with loose meat mixed with onions, pickles, and cheese, which may appeal to some but wasn't our favorite. I'd definitely go back to try the chicken sandwich, pork tenderloin, or spicy buffalo dog. The food itself might be closer to 3 stars, but the unique throwback nostalgia of the carhop era bumps the overall experience into 4-star territory. It's a must-try-at-least-once kind of place.
