Regan National Airport location. Hamna seemed attentive when I was ordering a meal for my flight but I was very disappointed when I was able to eat. This is the new location inside of the DCA airport - I'm not sure how long it has been there but the "coming soon" signs were still up. It looked fully staffed and like the team was ready for anything. Lucky for me, there was no line to order when I arrived, just a few people already waiting for their orders. Had my teenager with me today. He wanted Five Guys burgers. Can't win them all. First off the prices here are too high. I can cook the same burgers on my grill. There's nothing that makes them stand out. I will compliment them on not frozen beef, but other places do this. Big amount of decent fries. They do have great employees. That is for sure! Environment :Came here a bit early for my American Airline flight to LAX and had a craving for a good ol' burger. Line was long but the wait was not that bad. Its right off the corner of the gates and can be hard to miss since its not central. The pictures do it justice to where its a small little spot with a simple menu. The prices are ridiculously expensive but rightfully so since it is located inside an airport. The employee, Jasmine A. was as sweet as can be! She was helpful in explaining the menu and what they were known for. She made the overall experience pleasant. Food: Burger was great! Gave the feeling of it being homemade with plenty of lettuce, onions, light mayo and ketchup and a decent a little beacon to top. However, the Cajun Fries that it I ordered were soggy as can be. Not a single one had a crisp to their bite and I was about to board so there was no reason for me to even go back and ask for another batch. Five Guys Burgers and Fries opened up in Vegas earlier this year and I wasn't up for all the excitement. Then again, I'm not the biggest burger fan, so that's probably why. During my recent visit to the DC area, I have since learned how wrong I am! First off, the fries. This definitely got me. It was so fresh and good, and I love how they announce where the daily potatoes are coming in from. Very cool! And talk about generous! Okay, this location wasn't as generous as the one in DC we hit up, but still, there was still plenty to go around! I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich and was concerned it would end up on a burger bun. Nope, not at Five Guys. They use sandwich bread here and I'm loving that! (Correction: I have since discovered that they do use a hamburger bun, but they flip the buns the other way and grill it, which fooled me indeed!) And we gotta talk about the toppings. Any place you go, mushrooms cost extra. Not at Five Guys. Grilled mushrooms are FREE! So my simple grilled cheese sandwich was loaded with mushrooms, lettuce, and tomato! This is a real sandwich! And I have to love that Five Guys at the Washington Reagan National Airport does not raise its prices just because it's at an airport. We haven't eaten at Five Guys for a few years for various reasons most of which are obvious but when you're in an airport and traveling you take what you can get. * The multi-ethnic staff is about as friendly and efficient as anyplace that I've ever seen. * Unlike 99% of Five Guys this place serves something other than the core menu as they offer a small breakfast menu. * The burgers are still entirely too greasy. * The fries are still entirely too salty. * Unlike a lot of Five Guys there is no free style Coke unit here. * While grilled cheese is on the menu it is grossly overpriced (over $4) for what you get and it takes way too long to render. Overall this Five Guys will fit the bill because it's somewhat fast and familiar but even with those two positive attributes it by no means makes the stuff here great or even good. Keep the Tums handy and your cardiologist on speed dial. read more

Leaving on Sunday nights for business travel is one of my favorite ways to fly. Oftentimes, however, the airports can be quite busy, and if you're strolling through the terminal at mealtime it can be very difficult to find a table or a decent restaurant. Thank you DCA for having a Five Guys. I can grab a burger, carefully unwrap it from the foil (serving as a grease-catch / plate on my lap), and sit down at the terminal seating and "go to work." For the Five-Guys neophyte - and there should be very few of you out there, especially in the DC area - this joint has some of the best fresh burgers and cut-in-the back french fries. They cook everything to order, and the turn-time for a meal is PDQ - usually less than five minutes from ordering. A regular burger has two patties - so my advice is if you're not looking to engorge yourself before a long flight, then get the small burger - it has one patty. And one Five Guys' patty is more than enough meat for a burger - I'm pretty sure that it's more than a quarter pound. Also note that if you get the small fries, there's about 1.5 times more than a McDonalds offering of large fries. There's all sorts of toppings available on their burgers - LTMMOK - and then fried onions, mushrooms - whatever you want, within reason of course. And all the stores have free refills on their drinks, so don't go overboard before boarding otherwise you'll be really dreading that wait before the seatbelt light goes off at cruising altitude. In short, Five Guys is a great place to stop on your way in or out of National. The company has a great story, and a great following as well. Lots of great press - no need to blather further here. Just google the name and you'll see that I'm not the only one that's nuts over this restaurant. I don't usually let myself eat fast food. Obviously, high fat content is a concern, but there's something else. You see, when I eat, I have to make sure that I eat everything in even numbers. I get two pastries for breakfast on Saturdays, and I have to get two burgers. Come to think of it, I like parking on even-numbered floors, too. Yep, you guessed it: OCD. So even walking into a place called Five (!) Guys was a challenge. I have to say, though, I am glad I did. Five Guys is the East Coast's answer to California's own In-n-Out. The prices were a little steep, but I guess it makes sense at the airport location. I am very curious to find out what the prices are at their stand-alone locations; they cannot be this high. The menu is as simple as TSA's 1-2-3 requirements: * hamburger * cheeseburger * bacon burger * bacon cheeseburger * little hamburger * little cheeseburger * little bacon burger * little bacon cheeseburger * regular fries * large fries That's it. Well, they have sodas and hot dogs, too. Naturally, I ordered TWO little cheeseburgers at $3.49 a pop. (Thanks, Five Guys, for putting LITTLE cheeseburgers on the menu. I'd hate to order two big cheeseburgers). Ouch. Add some regular fries and a soda, and you're looking at a $12 happy meal. Ouch. All items are a la carte, so no "#2 with cheese." The burgers are pricey to be sure; however, if you like toppings, you're dead cow meat heaven: all your toppings are included in the price. Choose as many as you want for FREE: * Mayo * Relish * Onions * Lettuce * Pickles * Tomatoes * Fried Onions * Sauteed Mushrooms * Ketchup * Mustard * Jalapeno Peppers * Green Peppers * A-1 Sauce * Bar-B-Q Sauce * Hot Sauce I had burgers with ketchup, mustard and sauteed mushrooms. The burgers were delicious with thick, juicy patties prepared well-done. There's a big sign telling you that they cook all their burgers well done, and they don't microwave or freeze anything. I'd say that Five Guys was on par with In-n-Out, if not better. When it comes to fast food, it's definitely top of the line. The fries didn't excite me as much. They were very greasy (cooked in peanut oil) and prepared home-style, i.e., thick cut with potato skin. Regular serving of fries is pretty big; I couldn't even finish half. Overall, great place to visit before boarding your US Airways flight. Remember to check the monitors for up-to-the-minute flight information, though: the burgers are cooked to order, and it'd be a shame if you missed your flight waiting for your order number to be called. read more

I was told this was the In-n-Out of the east coast which made me slightly skeptical, because as my New Englander friends say "the East Coast has pizza the West Coast has hamburgers" and they are right. I will never try to compare pizza in LA to pizza anywhere within 100 miles of NYC, nor should I have expected to have hamburgers on the east coast be anything like the Tasty, juicy, HUGE and cheap burgers you can get at most any shack in California (TK Burger in Huntington Beach or Newport is one of the best!) Without wasting too much time on ranting about why I was insulted to pay over $10 for a burger and fries from a fast food joint (seems to be a fast food price problem here, see my review of Chipotle) I will say, at least its better than Burger King, but they charge you like it is a Fillet Mignon. read more

Whenever I work the LGA-DCA Shuttle I make it a point to stop by Five Guys. One day my trip schedule took me from breakfast to lunch and I had Five guys for Breakfast and Lunch. Some of my co-workers walk all the way down to TGIF for breakfast but to me that's a waste of time. The sandwich is pretty typical...Eggs,bacon and cheese on a bun. Why does it taste so good? I have no idea. For lunch I get the little bacon cheese burger with a regular order of cajun fries. Words cannot describe how good the burgers are...the fries are perfect...crispy on the outside and melty on the inside. The service is always super fast. Even though 5 Guys is fast food, my lunch here today was the best airport food I have ever eaten. The menu is the full blown menu at regular non-airport 5 Guys. There's even a breakfast menu - they don't have that out in California! The quality of the burger is that of, or even better, than all of the 5 Guys locations that I have been to in the past. Despite being busy, they got my order correct, the bun was perfectly toasted (not soggy at all as I have often experienced at 5 Guys), and the patty was well cooked. And to make things even better, the prices are not hiked up like most airport places! Seriously, $4.50 for a burger in an airport is an absolute steal. Best layover meal ever! read more

Cheerful to a fault, overly focused on customer satisfaction and smiles so bright, they could sear the beef - it's not something you tend to see in an airport. It was 6:00 am on Monday morning. My husband and I were supposed to be in the air, returning to our hometown Denver. Received a call from Orbitz at 6:01 am: "I'm sorry, but your 5:45 am flight has been delayed". No shit. I almost added a burger patty for a $1.00, but didn't. Wish I did after having a bite of my husband's. I highly recommend their breakfast sandwiches with a burger patty added and/or get a burger with an egg added.
