Located in a small food court part of the outlet in Cabazon, we got large Cajun fries ($7.99) to share. There was a line, and I had to wait a little less than ten minutes. The lady at the cash register and man at the pickup counter were both friendly. There's also free refills for fountain drinks. The fries were ready in a few minutes and came overflowing in a large cup put inside a paper bag. They tasted really flavorful and mostly had a soft texture. This was the first time I ever tried five guys since I have always been told that it wasn't good. I got 2 regular burger with fries and a drink. The bag I got was half filled with fries. I had to dig out both of the burgers from the bag. The fries were super crispy and well seasoned, along with the absurd amount that they just stuffed. The burger was greasy but nicely cooked. It was nothing special though. Overall, the food was average but the sheer quantity of the fries was what made me give 3 stars instead of 2. My order came out to be almost $40, which I think is way too expensive for what I ate quality wise. Was there today for lunch after a quick stop at the Cabazon Mall. I'm a fan of 5 Guys so I know what to expect. The food was very good as usual, but what stood out most was the service. The lady that took my order was very nice with a pleasant personality. I could tell by the interaction of the staff that they were in sync and worked well as a team. When my order was ready and my number was called, this worker was just as nice and pleasant as the first. An overall Five Star experience. A true rarity these days. This location is the saving grace of this entire food court and outlet center in general. The food is fresh and made to order. The staff is extremely friendly and efficient inspite of the fact that they seem short staffed. Literally the most flavorless Five Guys I've ever been too, which was really disappointing. The burger was well well well done, so it was cardboard dry and then no salt. Wanted to love it. Have waited to try it for some time. Positives: Ease of ordering. There are only a few choices so they make it easy. Everything is cooked to order and fresh. Service is friendly. Prices are decent though not a bargain. Reality: Bacon cheeseburger with mushrooms and grilled onions is so wet that it needs a fork and knife to eat it. It is A MESS. Since we are eating it in pieces as it falls apart, we notice that the burger tastes like nothing. The accoutrements are giving it some flavor, but the foundation is lacking. It is unmemorable. Two amazing staff working that evening. They were welcoming, engaging with the kids, and enthusiastic. What I like about Five Guys is the consistency across all the restaurants. I love how they are generous on the toppings including grilled mushrooms. The burgers here were delicious as always. The fries were freshly fried and came out piping hot. When I got to the front of the line, I realized I forgot how to order. So I asked for an order of fries and I also asked the girl that was serving me about the portion and how many it feeds. I only overheard another customer requesting before I realized it. At this point she was getting my drink ready and she had not finalized my order. As she's getting my drink ready I requested for extra ice. I saw that she only put a tiny scoop of ice in there and asked her for extra ice, she ignored me. I then said, "I'm sorry but I think I actually wanted Cajun fries". She hard rolled her eyes and raised her voice and told me," WELL NEXT TIME YOU NEED TO LET ME KNOW BEFORE I PUT THE ORDER IN." I was confused. I was still in the process of ordering. I had not yet paid. Why is she yelling at me. I'm not a child, matter of fact she Was younger than me. I hadn't eaten all day and I was at wits end when I arrived here, but was pleasantly surprised there was no line. Took a minute to get the attention of an employee there (I think they were hiding in the back since it was so quiet) but once I did, they were friendly. Decided on the smaller cheeseburger with lettuce, pickles, A-1 and minimal mayo. Food took about five minutes to receive, and I was on my way. Was never a fan of their fries so I skipped on them but the burger hit the spot. Was perfect to eat while driving too, which I would not recommend, but it happened and there was no mess. My fries were still frozen! . I was actually really really bummed when I ate my fries and they were still frozen. The top few were kinda warm and I was able to eat them. Then when I hit the bottom of the cup they were first really cold. Me thinking it was because it was cold out and I had cut my paper bag in half and dumped them out of the cup onto the cut bag, but it wasn't I was so sad when I took a bite of my fries and it was still freezing cold! Burger is incredible, Cajun fries order is HUGE. I think we were the first customers of the day at 10, the fries were fresh from the fryer and super hot. Cajun seasoning was sprinkled liberally instead of coating, but the fries were still delicious. Burger was hot off the grill, only downside was it was smushed together, so no pictures for it, but it was drenched in relish, which I've never had a burger with, but I think I'm gonna make that a staple in my burgers now. I have eaten at many 5 Guys and typically, there is an argument to be made if 5 Guys better than In-N-Out. With this specific place, that is NOT the case. First off, it is clearly evident that they have a staffing issue. It took them 12 minutes to get me my super well done burger. Secondly, the burger cook should be fired and should be banned from cooking burgers for at least a year. Seriously, the guy flips the burger half a dozen times and smooshes them. Both actions result in less juices and making the patty inherently dry. Then we get a charred burger. WTF. I noticed that they stack baskets of cooked fries on top of each other. Finally a decent place to eat besides Blaze pizza. Just like any 5 Guys the burgers and fries are great. This location is in the corner food court of the Desert Hills Mall. Dont bother eating at any of the other places there. If you dont want to drive down to In n Out down the street then this place will do. It is a bit pricey at $7+ for burger but no place better at the mall. The service is also better. I go here and hang out waiting for my wife to max out my credit card :( The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is that it is inside a food court and there are no free peanuts like the stand alone joints. read more
