The small fry was enormous and the San Fran burger was enough for at least two meals, and it was on really tasty garlic sourdough that set it apart from typical bacon burger. The tartar sauce (a must for me on French fries) was really good but the fries were noticeably potato-ey, perfect golden not overfried just right. It made me feel like they were implying I wasn't telling the truth. I wasn't trying to argue or get anything for free. I was simply bringing a concern to their attention. What bothered me even more was being told that next time I should check the food before leaving. Respectfully, I don't believe that's the customer's responsibility. A customer's job is to pay for the food and expect to receive the correct order. It's the restaurant's responsibility to make sure the order is accurate before it leaves the kitchen. They also wanted me to drive all the way back to the restaurant to show them the food. Since I live in another town, that wasn't practical and would have cost me more in time and gas than it was worth. We go to Charmers usually a couple times a month. The food is always good and there's always lots of it. We usually get the vegetable omelette and split it if we're there for breakfast. Huge portions and really good. We get a pancake instead of toast most of the time. Their pancakes could rival ihop any day! We usually order an extra plate. This time they cut the omelette in half for us and gave us each our own plate. I assume we're not the only people who do this. You order at the register and they bring your food to the table. I drove to the restaurant to pick up my order and, before leaving, I specifically asked the young man at the counter if these were the biscuit sandwiches. He assured me they were. Unfortunately, when I got home, I found English muffin sandwiches instead. I called the restaurant to report the mistake and was told that they rarely sell biscuit sandwiches and that they aren't even on the menu. When I pointed out that they are, in fact, available on the online menu, the employee acknowledged that but said they don't actually sell them in-store. What's frustrating is that they could have simply been honest with me when I picked up the order. Instead of confirming something that wasn't true, a quick explanation would have saved the confusion and inconvenience. I asked to speak with a manager but was told they wouldn't be available until after 9:30 or 10 AM. The employee did offer to remake my order, but since he had already said they don't carry the biscuits, I'm not sure what he planned to make instead. It's disappointing when what should be a simple order is mishandled, especially when the menu item in question is part of their online offerings. I hope they resolve the disconnect between their online and in-store menus and improve how such issues are handled when they arise. A little clarity and accountability can go a long way.
