So, what do you do when you're staying in Hendersonville for a couple of nights at a hotel and you don't have a car? You give thanks for being within walking distance of so many big chains. I may not patronize chains much while at home (no judgement; just a habit) but when in Rome, eat Italian food... or something like that. I set off from my hotel with nothing more than a direction and a hankering for a bacon cheeseburger* (with lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and grilled onions) and fries. It's my (old) go-to order at Five Guys and I didn't see any need to change it up. Oh, and a root beer. Can't forget the drink. If you've been to one 5 Guys, you've been to them all. This one is pretty decent for a few reasons. 1.) For whatever reason, my order cost less here than it did/goes on West End. I don't know how that's possible with a standard order from a chain but I wasn't knocking it. 2.) Despite the chain energy, I found the staff to be pleasant (ie I didn't just order and step to the side; sometimes it's the little things). 3.) I enjoyed the high lighting and clean environs. Light makes the brain think 'clean' but this location actually was/is clean. Again, the little things. The exorbitant price keeps me from granting the fourth star but I think a person could do far worse than dinner from 5 Guys on a cold early winter night and lacking a car. *My order was a good size. I see from other reviews that size and quantity have shifted down. At these prices, that's a hard sell. YMMV. read more

Personally, I don't see what all the hype is. The burgers are decent but expensive. If you add all the toppings, maybe a slightly better value. You get a lot of fries, but I would prefer a smaller, less expensive option. Its fine when with a family and sharing portions, but it is way too much if you are alone. Burgers are pretty simple. You don't need a lot of pizazz or fancy sauces/toppings to make a good burger. Yes gourmet burgers have their niche but sometimes you don't want that but you don't want to stoop so low and get fast food. That's where places like Shake Shack and Five Guys come in. They have a hot griddle, soft buns, and toppings you can get at your grocery store. Most Five Guys I've been to are the same so you can expect pretty good consistency across all the locations. What makes the Hendersonville location special is that you can order milkshakes as well. I've had them before and they are pretty good, but I didn't get one this go around. What makes Five Guys so good is they have every "normal" topping imaginable, good bread, and as long as the employee at the griddle doesn't screw up your meat patties, it will come out juicy. Pair it up with an order of fries and you have your all American meal. I always order my burger "All The Way", meaning it comes with tomatoes, pickles, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, ketchup, mayonnaise, lettuce, and mustard. There are other toppings like BBQ sauce, jalapeños, etc that you can order at no extra charge. It's pretty standard what I order here: Double Bacon Cheeseburger (All The Way), Small Fries w/ Cajun seasoning, regular-sized drink. Because of the number of toppings, burger comes out a mile high but it's oh so good. Juicy beef patties, gooey cheese, fresh vegetables, and a nice amount of condiments. Thr Cajun fries are dusted with Cajun seasoning and like Five Guys style, you get half a paper sack full of fries despite ordering a small. The only beef (see what I did there?) with Five Guys is the pricing. That meal I mentioned earlier cost me 20$. That is expensive, even for a fast casual restaurant like Five Guys. And that's why I don't always come here and "cheap out" by going to McDonald's across the street. It's not really a comparison but money talks. Asked where to find an old fashioned really good cheese burger and Five Guys were recommended. Unfortunately, not a good suggestion in Hendersonville, TN. Although the staff was very cordial, the music was so loud you would never be able to carry on a conversation with anyone, let alone hear your phone ring. Food? Thought the VERY expensive prices may represent the quality of food, but that was not the case. Extremely disappointed to spend over $21.00 for one person (1 very thin patty cheese burger, grilled cheese and soda), for what I received. No bigger than a McDonalds and barely a step up in taste. *Post-Covid review* I was very happy to see that all employees were wearing masks! They even had an employee covering the self-service drink machines. I walked in for pick-up, but he told me that they also offer curbside pick up currently. They do have a few tables available for dine-in, which are spaced accordingly from each other and from the ordering area. The employees at this location are very friendly and polite and service is quick. My orders have always been accurate. Five Guys is a little more expensive than the average fast food burger place, but you're getting a better quality, made-to-order burger with a good variety of topping options. Besides the standard lettuce, tomato, etc, you can also choose grilled onions, mushrooms, jalapeno slices and more, most of which are included in the price. (Toppings like bacon are available at an additional cost.) They also give you a generous amount of fries. Usually the "little" fries (small size) is enough for my husband and I to share. I love their fresh-cut Cajun fries! A nice bonus at Five Guys is free roasted peanuts, which used to be available in big boxes with scoops so you could grab some while you wait for your order. In light of the pandemic, they are putting peanuts in ready-to-go paper bags. They are also pre-packing ketchup. read more

My son and I ordered two bacon cheeseburgers and there was a PUDDLE in front of grease in the tin foil just from carrying the burgers from the counter to our table. What i got was an overcooked dry pair of burger patties with overcooked dry bacon. i asked for it to not be so well done amd i like them juicy ahead of time, but the cook just couldn't stop mashing down on the burger, squeezing out every bit of flavor with each torturous press. This was our first time eating here and we would definitely recommend this as a takeout place. Otherwise you pay $60 for three people to eat. One regular size fry is enough to feed two people. They're really large fry is enough for three people. The burgers are excellent fried burgers but nothing special. Our order was exactly what we ordered. We have eaten at Five Guys all over the country. I don't know what this location is doing but it's not good. The burger was way too thick I thought I had got a double. Threw everything off. I've been a fan of Five Guys for many years, and I was delighted when they recently moved to Hendersonville. That makes this review that much harder to write. I like online ordering. Last night, I placed my order from my computer, got in my car, and drove to the restaurant. When I got there, my sandwiches were ready, and the fries and milkshakes were ready soon after. When I got home, the fries were still hot and the milkshakes were still cold. The fries were great, but their fries always are. Our custom-made milkshakes were absolutely delicious, and I loved my bacon cheeseburger. But here comes the big "however." My daughter is a vegetarian, and she's picky about the veggies she likes. So she ordered a cheese and veggie sandwich with only lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickle. When she opened her sandwich, she also found peppers and mushrooms, neither of which she likes. So as she was picking out the mushrooms from all the melted cheese she also found a big chunk of hamburger. I have to assume that was accidental. Nevertheless, putting meat on a vegetarian sandwich is unacceptable and inexcusable. That sandwich should have been thrown away and a new one made. I do not know if this was a result of ordering online, but I do know that if I have to stand in line to order, and then watch my sandwiches being made in order to make sure they are made correctly, I am going to find another place to get burgers. read more

When we first learned about Five Guys burgers we were driving to West End in Nashville to get them. We're so glad that Five Guys is finally nearby! The burgers are always fresh and made-to-order and delicious. So delicious that we considered getting rid of our grill. Then we remembered that we also grill chicken and steak on occasion:/ Five Guys burgers are not the gourmet burgers that have hit the dining scene. These are burgers like you'd make at home without the trouble! Not too many things are more satisfying on a Friday night after a long work week than a big brown bag of their burgers and fries. And we love their fries. No matter how you you like your burger topped there are over 250,000 possible combinations (and that's according to them). You should find something you like. If not, then you shouldn't be eating a burger. They have hotdogs but we've never tried them. I'm sure there equally yummy. Fun fact...The French fries must be shaken 15 times exactly, and onion and bacon go below the patty while pickles and tomato go above. Great food and great service. Really good, big burgers! I can't give it 4 or 5 stars though because of the fries. Although they are good, they're just not crunchy. Sure they're fresh, I mean they slice 'em on site, but they're limp. They taste okay, but I prefer a fry with some crisp and a little more flavor. You pay a good amount to eat here so I expect the fries to live up to the burger. When I brought my wife and son here there were several minutes that passed between each of our orders being ready. We put it on one order but the food wasn't ready at the same time. I didn't want my wife's food to get cold so we told her to go ahead and start eating. A couple of minutes later my son's food was ready and then another minute or so mine was ready. One more thing to make note of, they use peanut oil so my wife, who has a nut allergy, can't eat the fries.
