Tried Five Guys Hawaii location for the first time despite there being a line out the door. The wait time was about 15 minutes in the line but once I was able to order my food, I only waited about 10 minutes to receive my meal. The staff was really on it maintaining the huge crowd and keeping the restaurant running smoothly! My meal of two cheeseburgers, a large Cajun style fries, and milkshake came up to $35 + tax. Much more expensive here in Hawaii vs when I last had five guys back in Georgia. The food itself was really yummy and the Oreo cookie peanut butter milkshake was worth the $5.99 because I can't find that combo milkshake at very many places! I gave 4 stars because the prices are a bit too high in a combination of lack of seating options. I will probably return once the hype does down in a few months! read more

Bad service compiled with prices comparable to a dine-in restaurant, leads me to question the longevity of this establishment. I typically do not enjoy when staff engage in personal conversations while I wait for the cashier to take my money for my order. A good ten seconds of conversation passed between two workers as my money sat in clear view of the cashier. Not only that, two orders placed after mine were served because apparently the fries weren't ready. Look, if your restaurant is that dead and I see four members of staff joking around behind the counter, I do not think your prices are worth the wait. I will not return, ever. Finally tried Five Guys in Mililani. I'm not a burger person but thought I'd try it with the rest of the carnivores in the family :) I thought it was much better than Johnny Rockets (sorry, Johnny!). The bread was soft and patty juicy. I tried my son's vanilla shake which I snuck about a quarter of when he walked away to grab ketchup. The shake was the best thing on the menu! The shelled roasted peanuts were nothing to brag about; there was no flavor and some even tasted burned. In my opinion we spent way too much -- our bill was almost $70 for 2 regular burgers, 2 large burgers (2 patties each burger), 1 shake, 2 drinks and 1 large fries. Insane. read more

It's so sad that in Hawaii we end up having to pay a premium for our food. Whenever I go to Vegas, Five Guys is always the first place we eat. I was so excited when I first heard we were getting one here. The prices are higher, which is why we only stop by once and awhile. Unfortunately that isn't the case with this location. Earlier today I got off from work and thought I'd stop by and grab a burger. It was an average day businesswise, there was about three of four orders before me. I paid for my food and was given my number (50). I waited about 20 minutes and one by one people grabbed their orders. 47, 48, 49 yes I'm next! 51 Okay I thought to myself, maybe they're not going in order, after all those people only bought shakes. 52 Those people had a big order. 53 Now I know something's wrong. I go up to one of the employees and ask him if my order's ready. He asks me for my receipt, looks at it, and talks to one of the cooks in the back. Then he turns to me, tells me that they lost my order but it's coming right up. I think to myself, okay things happen, I can wait a little longer. He tells the cook to put two more patties on the grill and make it quick. Then two more burgers are made and put to the side. They sit there for awhile and the employee I talked to previously says, "oh" grabs the burgers. (one of which you'd obviously think was mines) and says 54. What the? I immediately asked for a refund. They grab a supervisor from the back and she asks me for my receipt. Obviously I didn't have it because they took it to make the order. She asks me for my credit card and starts processing the refund. Then she lets me know that it's done and then says sorry? Pretty sure it was way too late for an apology? Not sure what happened but I'm pretty sure I'm done coming here. We'll probably stop by the one in Kapolei next time we want a burger. It's so sad though I live in Wahiawa. it was the epitome of mediocre burgers. we ordered a bacon cheese burger, a cheese burger, a large fries, a milkshake cherry chocolate, and a drink. MY BILL WAS $38. IT WAS FAR FROM WORTH 38 DOLLARS. I asked for Swiss cheese and the response was "we only have American cheese" (and for 38 dollars the burger needs to be juicy, and with a choice of cheese) The bun was cold and dry, with the hamburger warm. I visited Five Guys with high expectations because have heard people rave that it's a must try when visiting the East Coast. The restaurant is cute with bags of potatoes and nuts, cute portraits and bright red tiles that liven up the restaurant decor. There's ample seating indoors and outdoors and the air condition is really cold (bring a jacket). We ordered two little cheeseburgers loaded with grilled veggies and a small fries to share. The little cheeseburgers are not so little. The grilled veggies in the burger were good. The burger itself tasted like a normal burger and could have used a little more salt and the French fries were soggy. This place has an awesome digital coke machine with so many soda flavors. One of my favorite parts! Also it was neat to watch our burgers being made - there were 12 enthusiastic staff working behind the counter (they work so hard in such a small kitchen space and are so efficient). This was my first time trying Five Guys. I enjoyed it and my bf said it's just like he remembered it. The Cajun fries were very flavorful and the regular size fries were way more than enough for the two of us. Even better the next day when I retoasted all the leftover fries. Five Guys and I have a special relationship. Im going to give a little backstory- the first time I ever tried this restaurant was in 2010 in San Diego on my wedding day. Every year there after my husband and I enjoy a burger on our anniversary. When we moved to Honolulu two years ago I was sad to find out they didn't have a five guys but was thrilled to find out this summer that they were opening one. So this year we were finally able to enjoy Five Guys just like on our wedding day (classy I know ). So about this location. It's in a great shopping center, lots to do around. Movie theater next door and a gaming place too. Great if you want to grab a burger and hit up the movies. We arrived at the location a few minutes before they opened and the line was forming quickly. We were about 5th in line. After opening the line moved quickly, after paying for our order we picked a seat and grabbed a big order of free peanuts. The soda machine is fun and different than most places, you can add flavors like cherry, and vanilla to your drink of choice. Five guys isn't as quick as places like mc Donald's but the quality of food is way better. I love the fries, and that they tell you where the potatoes come from. They salt them to perfection and leave the skin on which I love. We split a order of fries because one order per person is just too much. We both enjoyed our burgers. I like that you build your own burger. You can't beat freshness and quality of the food. We will be back for sure. read more

My Son wanted to try this place so we came here after his Physical appt at Straub. It's 5pm, small line, but first impression as I walked in.......cleanliness. Floors needed a good sweeping!! Customers were eating the peanuts out of the stacked bags, thru rips, versus grabbing from the bag that was already opened. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with some of the toppings.....I didn't order onions but somehow got some. Burger was oily and messy too. The fries......soggy. So 2 Bacon Cheeseburgers, a regular fries, and 1 large drink was $35.50. Better than In & Out.....but for the price, I'd rather drive to The Counter. I've eaten at this location in Mililani about a dozen times since they first opened. The first time I went they served delicious, huge steak fries with the skin on. The burger was delicious and juicy and the bun was fresh. The second time I ate there they changed their fries to the type you can get from any location. Burger was still very good. I went in today after not eating there for about 3 weeks and they serve regular old fries that are limp and soaked through with grease. The fries that aren't limp noodles are burnt. The burger lacked pretty much any flavor and they've switched to processed cheese. Very disappointed at the consistent downgrade in their quality of food. read more

Came here today to try and see the hype and I was pleased to say this place is really cool and the food is good. Would give them 4.5 stars if I could. Only minor complaints. Bun was toasted but cold. If you order a shake, they give it to you right away, and then it's half gone by the time you get your meal. A Little Hamburger is fine, only has one patty which is great for me. The Regular size fries is too much for two people unless you really love fries. The fries are similar to Wendy's fries but a little better. Come to think of it, my burger was about the size of a Wendy's single. It may just be me, but I was really expecting something special in the way of a Burger. I heard amazing things about 5guys but saw nothing out of the ordinary for this place. It's not that they'll be losing any close customer from me, as I am far from a hamburger connoisseur and I hardly eat hamburgers anyways. I like rice and plate lunch. But if I had to make hamburgers for a living, I think I'd use some avocado's, onions, mushrooms, bell peppers or even mix a little Italian seasoning in the hamburger mix before making them. Maybe I'd make a Katsu burger or Curry burgers, or visit other burger places that have rave reviews and copy them with a twist of my own personality. After you cook the burger, add a little drama by hitting the burger with a blow torch to singe the edges and give it a little charcoal flavor. I mean, anything that sets the business apart from the pack. I mean if I wanted to be #1 in the world of burgers, I wouldn't just sell burgers. read more

Their dining area is very limited as the display their bags of potatoes out there which takes up room- really difficult to maneuver my stroller on top of all the peanut shells on the floor. Disappointing compared to their Illinois and other mainland locations. The prices are almost triple and the burgers and fries were drowned with grease! My fries were literally dripping oil when I picked it up. It didn't taste good at all...it was disgusting. If you asked me if I rather go to Teddy's or this place, I'd choose Teddy's out of convenience and price... but that's it.
