This place is run by absolute morons. Nobody there even speaks English anymore. Last batch of french fries didn't come with the proper seasoning on them. Meat quality is garbage. AVOID THIS LOCATION AT ALL COSTS Interestingly, they omit the store number on the receipt, which makes it impossible to submit a complaint on the main website (because the feedback process requires the store number). So for anyone else looking to provide feedback via the main corporate website, this is Five Guys location #1870 If you are in the mood for Five Guys, it's worthwhile to drive to the Salinas location, because this Sand City location is absolutely awful. read more

Tried this place (Nov. 2024) for the first time ever. Overall I would say the Burgers get a A+, French Fries a B+ and the Vanilla Milkshake a A on taste. They cook the Burgers right after you order it so it is hot and tasty. The prices are high but it's California and we pay our food servers better than most states. Parking was easy to find and a short walk. The inside was mostly clean except for some crumbs on most of the tables. If someone would ask me if this is a good place to eat I would definitely say yes. But if you order what I did (hamburger, french fries and milkshake) expect to pay a premium price. read more

Good burgers and consistent service here. Personally I love the way the burgers are cooked here and the plethora of customization options. Call me a creep, but I fancy my burgers with a fried egg and some A-1 sauce. Other burger places do not carry eggs or A-1 and stare at me incredulously when I try to order this. At Five Guys they do look at me funny but at least they have the stuff to make this. The only reason I didn't give five stars is because the tables often sit dirty for a long period of time before they are cleaned. read more

Great customer service and five guys NEVER disappoints!!! Fresh, greasy, and tasty burgers. If you're like me, greasy anything is always FIRE!! However, if I may make a suggestion.... Would you mind placing the burger on top of the fries when you bag it? The fries are so fresh and hot however I couldn't get my burger because it was on the bottom of the bag and my hands got all slippery so I couldn't grab it. Anyways, wonderful service and food. I've been a few times now, and was hesitant to review since it's fast food chain. That being said, I think they do a better job than many of that type of restaurant. The biggest thing I would say is GET THE SEASONED FRIES. These have always been good and they give you an abundance of them. Burgers are good but make sure the shake machines are working before ordering one. read more

I've been to Five Guys several times and this location is awful. I cant believe how bad they got our order wrong and I did not check until I gut home. Order a regular hamburger, all the way, no grilled onions, add raw onion, and a regular fries. I GOT. A double hamburger, with grilled onions and no mushrooms. And a large fries. Normally I would love the extra fries but these were only partially cooked so not as good as I've had in Fremont or San Jose. I double checked my receipt to see if I was given the wrong order- nope the number matched! We have a lot of options for burgers within a stones throw so we will probably not return to this location. read more

I guess it's the new normal. It's becoming more and more common any place I dine in at these days, but why is it that every table in the restaurant is dirty when I go to sit down after ordering my food? Are cleaning tables not part of the job description? I just think if I'm going to pay $11 for a burger I could at least have a clean table to sit at. Why am I having to clean my own table? I shouldn't have to ask for one of the 11 tables to be wiped down. The restaurant is empty. I'm the only patron. Every single table dirty with nuts shells, napkins and other food debris. What are they so busy with they can't wipe down the tables? read more

On Nov 10, 2021 went here for dinner. Ordered a Little Cheeseburger $8.29 and Veggie Sandwich $5.79 but skipped the fries since they were so expensive. $5.59 and $7.29! Anyways, the Little Cheeseburger is smaller than an In and Out burger. The Veggie Sandwich was way below average with no flavor. Buns were both soggy and really needed to be toasted or grilled. We were both still hungry and ended up going to The Habit to get a Cheeseburger for $5.59 and fries for $3.09. For the quality of food here I don't recommend them even if they toast the buns. If the price is factored in, I definitely recommend going elsewhere for your local burger fix. Tip: If you order your fries without salt, they make them fresh for you and then you can always add salt yourself. read more

The four guys working at Five Guys when i visited this location were funny, polite, and cooked up some FANTASTIC food. Genuinely appreciate their ... "customer service" doesn't do them justice. Walking up, it's just another storefront. It's not really anything special inside, either. There are a few tables and chairs at each one. The counter still has the plastic barriers that nobody bothers to stand behind because you can't hear anything from the person at the counter if you do, and they can't hear your order. The kitchen is a general Five Guys kitchen - open concept so you can watch them make your food, and very clean. The entire restaurant is generally fairly clean. Almost too clean, for a Five Guys. There should be peanut shells on the floor, but there aren't. The local Five Guys restaurants no longer supply peanuts and it's really a shame. That was one of the best parts about Five Guys! The food is good, but in my experience you'll get a better burger here when the guys are making it. Sorry, ladies, but for this particular location, it's the truth! For whatever reason, the ladies are a bit...lazy?...with making food for the customers. The patties end up broken and burgers are slapped together. When the guys who currently work there make the burgers they seem to put more pride in not just the taste of the food but also its appearance. Thus far, it appears the young gentlemen who work here begin their shift around 1pm on the days I've been there. Before that time it's just the ladies. Ladies: you need to step up your game, put the same pride of appearance into the food you serve as the gents do. Customers don't mind the extra twenty to thirty seconds it takes to make the burger look as nice as it tastes. ;) read more

I recently visited (Nov 15) and wow what a difference from all of my past experiences! They must now have somebody running and managing it to a level that has now exceeded my expectations, so I felt this great work needs to be recognized. The fries were perfect, crispy on the outside, seasoned just right, hamburger on point and it was ready in a reasonable time. I stopped going here and hadn't been back for months. Previous experience was consistently soggy fries, at best an average hamburger and it would take about half hour to get my order. And to top it off I got to spend top dollar for this poor experience. But no more, this last week's visit was perfect, something has changed there. Please keep it going, as I will be adding this location back into my rotation. read more

Burgers are great . Fries are delicious but the one star is for the cashier with the poor unfriendly customer service. Restaurant always seems to be overstaffed with employees doing nothing but standing around instead of cleaning the dirty tables. read more

This place is poorly run. I've never had my order filled correctly because of shortages of product here, as well as the order just being put together wrong. Last time it was hot dogs on hamburger buns, today it was diet cokes instead of regular (yech!) and pickles on both burgers that stipulated no pickles. Because I order on GrubHub I don't really want to drive back up there to get it fixed, but there is some serious incompetence here. read more

worst place ever. placed order to pick up for me and guys at work spent over $60 on 2 bacon cheeseburgers and a hot dog... the cheese burgers came plane with no cheese no topping ast all i ordered online when i got there they were not ready had to wait 10 mins i was the only person in the place. so you would think they got it right. got back to work all 3 orders were plane with nothing on them when i called they could care less. ill never go back and ill be sure to let everyone know how they do customers. read more

I love the fries here but not huge fan of the burgers. I find them greasy. However that's not why I'm rating this place a two stars. I know many people love the food menu here. My issue is with the workers. I don't expect a white linen service but I do expect some common sense. There were five people working and taking. I only ordered a large fries and was given number 76. As I sat and waited for my order, I noticed they called number 71. The orders before me had multiple items. I saw many fries sitting Ana waiting for the burgers or whatever else to get cooked, yet they made me wait till my sequential number turn came up. Common sense will tell you that small single items can be processed quickly. Ok while I waited a good 15 minutes for this fries, I totally expected it cooked to perfection, but instead I got some semi cooked fries that were mushy and limp. What on earth is going on? Don't these guys get trained to wait till the fryer's timer goes off?? I thought they at least got some training. If you make people wait at least make sure the food is done right. read more

Very loyal five guys fan here and grew up going to the original one in Northern Virginia. Love there is one near me here in California but I will not be coming back to this one, like ever again. I got a little cheeseburger and the patty was broken apart leaving me half a patty. 7 bucks for a burger and I'm still hungry. Also my wife got a grill cheese with veggies and it was missing half the veggies. I did not have time to expect them to cook me another burger as I had an infant with me that was ready to go. I mentioned it to the cashier who was very friendly and I told him I didn't want anything for free but they need to do a better job when I'm spending 7 bucks for a sandwich. I noticed a line cook talk to what looked like a manager as the cook pointed at me. The manager did not make an attempt to talk to me and shrugged it off. I love five guys and think it's 10 times better then over rated in n out and habit. But they one knock they have is that they are expensive, which they are but I silly don't mind it. I think people go out of their way to leave bad reviews so I I always consider that when reading Yelp reviews. That said this location only has a 2.5 review so a 3.5 is still so so. My husband and I went in there today and I have never had Five Guys before. We both ordered a burger, fries and a drink. The gal that helped us was very nice and helpful. She even yelled thanks for coming in when we left. First the drink machine wouldn't give me any regular drink. So I finally figured out I could move to the second machine. Then I tried to get ketchup in a little cup but the dispenser was empty. So I grabbed a bunch of packets and proceeded to fill up my little cups manually. Then I needed napkins. No napkins. You have to wait and get them with your order. I hate that. So basically I am not enjoying my visit so far. We get our food and a lot of napkins. Good. First I try my Cajun fries. Yum. Hot and tasty. Since there are potato sacks sitting everywhere and a sign that tells you where the potatoes come from I guess it's a specialty and they did not disappoint. Skins kept on. The burger was good but very messy. Good thing all the napkins. By time we left most of the tables were empty. There never was a big crowd or long line but nobody came out to clean tables. I can see why the low reviews. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here but I would go back. In the same parking lot is habit burger which we have been to several times. I prefer it because of the variety. Five guys is like in and out where there is just burgers, fries and drinks. But they have a lot of burger toppings. More than in and out. read more

How long have we been waiting for this to open!? Way too long lol... I went on their first Friday night, wasn't too crazy busy, but the line doesn't have much space so doesn't take too much to go out the door. Food took slightly longer than average for typical Five Guys, which is fine, figuring stuff out... but I must say the staff was exceptional, A+++ for hiring. Beyond welcoming, friendly, my order was messed up and went above and beyond to fix the problem with a smile and apology. Food was great. Equal to other locations. Milkshakes were delicious, as usual. Hope staff continues to enjoy working there! read more

This place opened only a few weeks, as a result the place was PACKED! There were no seats and at least 10 customers just standing around waiting for food. Again though is definitely just the freshly opened rush. If you haven't been to 5 guys it's a very cool chain with both the decorations and the free peanut bins that are everywhere. Our burgers were good, bigger than I had expected but still pricy,(about $8 a burger). It's definitely something I would recommend you check out at least once. read more

Was able to get in touch with the manager and remedy the situation. As a new review, I did get the correct orders while ordering this time. Can't say this is the best burger from five guys I've had, but definitely hit the spot. The Cajun fries are what brings me back and I highly recommend it to anyone who visits. read more

So... 1 stop already since it opened. And personally, it is already better than in n out in seaside. I love how you guys wrap the burger in foil and it keeps it warm. Burger itself was extremely flavorful. The fries bomb(a little too salty). But ketchup helped with that. Staff was friendly. And the service was very quick. Which is very good! No. It was a holiday weekend and we wanted to go somewhere else, discovered almost everything was closed.. ended up going to Five Guys and it was as bad as I remembered. Overpriced. Overly salted fries, couldn't even eat more than a few. A burger impossible to keep together that becomes a mess on your plate. Nothing against this particular establishment, the staff was great, but WHY does anyone like this place? Never ever again. read more

Five Guys is UNDERRATED! Love stacking my burger with a bunch of toppings. Somehow their burgers have a great homemade vibe to them. Easy to order online and pick up. Definitely consider going here instead of In-n-out when the drive-thru line is 100 cars long. Even consider just going here INSTEAD of In-n-out regardless. I love both, and this holds its own. read more

I think I've probably given this Five Guys location my last try today. on previous visits, I've experienced some waiting, though nothing too outrageous. The food is just ok, and neither better nor worse than any other location, and I briefly considered giving them an extra star (than the single one I'm rating them) in this review for the food quality and service that I've previously experienced; and for the fact that they didn't put up a fuss when I asked for my money back today, after waiting nearly a half hour in an almost completely deserted restaurant, without receiving my order. I was the only customer in the place for a good ten minutes of that painful timespan, and it seemed that half of the crew went on lunch break shortly after I ordered, leaving two employees to manage everything - the everything being handing out the several pre-paid mobile orders that were picked up while I sat and waited; and never once did the employees acknowledge that I was just sitting there in the restaurant by myself, waiting that entire time. The experience cost me a half hour of my time on a work day, (leaving me with no time to grab lunch on the way back to work), and the tip I left in the jar when I ordered, but I hope that the management of this location will take note of the growing number of unfavorable reviews (mine included), and make some effort to bring this location up to anywhere near the standard I've come to expect from this chain, because it's cost them another customer. Unfortunately, my Five Guys fries will now require a road trip out of town to enjoy. read more

Been to many Five Guys across the country. This is the worst of any by a large margin. Staff does not communicate well. Extremely slow service, long wait times. Drink / Ice machines that do not work. Lack of accuracy on orders. All consistent across multiple visits. No interest by staff to fix any of the above is probably the worst part of all. read more

They must have put a fresh batch of meat on that grill as that grill top was covered every square inch. They only grill 2 meats: chicken on the bone and carne asada. They also grill whole red onions and serrano peppers to go with those char grilled meats. 1/2 Chicken Combo ($15/4*) Upon receiving, it almost looks burnt. But upon tasting no bitter burnt notes just extremely well manufactured char. The chicken is marinated in something. Probably a seasoning salt and maybe a touch of lime. Nothing is spicy or peppery just a salty, charred chicken flavor. I liked it but I think I like El Pollo Locos version a tad more. As that is more slowly rendered where the skin gets crisp and there's more of a buttery nuance in El Pollo Locos version. I hate saying I'm siding with a big corporate but chicken-wise they've got the edge. Now where this place beats any chain are in the sides and details. First the freshly charred onions and serranos that go with most meat orders are damn perfect. Then the biggest pile of freshly grilled steak I've ever seen get served to me at one time. The aroma was intoxicating and was superseded by getting a taste. A little heavy handed on the seasoning but damn did that grilled meat flavor hit you like a bat. Slightly smoky with charred hits and THE most juicy and tender carne asada I've ever had. Usually the preparation can yield tough and overcooked meat but not here, there is some wizardry involved. I was putting whole pieces of meat in a rustic cowboy taco and you could still bite through the taco effortlessly. That's some serious mojo they are messin' with. Warm tortilla base; cut up and throw some charred peppers and onions; throw enough carne asada on there to your heart's intent; a few dabs of their tomato salsa with the charred flecks; then finally a generous sprinkling of their pickled red onions to gild the lily.
