Okay we went back for dinner tonight!! Wow incredible dinner. The ribeye was fabulous my sautéed calamari was the best I've ever had. We had sizzling mushrooms as an appetizer with bread. The crème brûlée was great also. We are in a food coma!! George was our server with the help of Blue excellent and an asset to this restaurant. Nice and clean was watching baseball and basketball. My fiancé found this place during a walk and suggested we stop in for dinner. Anytime he sees halibut on the menu, that's an instant win for him. He saw a review that said Googie had the best fish, so it needed to be seen to. We brought the family here for a birthday dinner and were blown away at the portion sizes, which were worth the price. My fiancé ordered the halibut, dad got the calamari, mom got the seafood linguine, and I got the salmon. All the seafood was cooked to perfection, and I personally appreciated that the vegetables were cooked just right. Neither crunchy nor mushy. Servers were very attentive and friendly, and the ambience was very calm. We were perfectly content with dinner and made a note to come ready for dessert next time. As we were about to pay the bill, someone at the table mentioned a birthday, and our server insisted we sit a while and proceeded to take back the bill before we could get our card down. He came back with a crème brûlée with the service team by his side, and the dining room proceeded to sing Happy Birthday, which was a nice way to cap off the evening! This is definitely a spot we'll be saving for our next adventure down in Seaside. read more

The decor is cute and funky, food was pretty good! Wanted to find a spot to watch World Cup and not wait for food for a long time after a long drive. Accommodated a toddler dairy allergy by serving pasta with grilled chicken. My bandido burger was very spicy and really yummy. There are probably fancier spots in town to find food but after staying in the embassy suites right next door this was very convenient and very good. Waiter was really nice! read more

$20 bacon cheeseburger: pretty darn good, and sizeable too. Good enough to thoroughly scratch that classic restaurant burger itch. That said, Monterey Peninsula has a number of spots that can do the same making for stiff competition. read more

(I go to YELP for all things. ) I ordered the huevos rancheros, with their tostada on the side-- they tend to be soggy by the time it gets to the table otherwise. Meat was extra $. I got it standard without meat, eggs over medium. The sauce and fixings (sour cream, avocado, cheese) was delish!! Happy with my choice and would come back again for this-- haven't found too many restaurants with making this a delish dish. Husband ordered the chicken & waffles. I didn't like that they charged extra for the gravy and extra for bone in. Makes for an immediate discount in satisfaction. This dish was decent and not delish because there's something about chicken "nuggets" that don't do C&W justice. One positive is that they are pet friendly!! Service was good and attentive. This place is amazing! The food is really good with a lot of different options from meat loaf, steaks, pork chops to seafood and more! There is something for everyone. The place itself is a bit of a mystery lol. I felt I was in Fromville not because there were monsters but the decor was a little all over the place. But food was really good and they had Seaside Pilsner on tap too. I saved the service for last because you always save the best for last! Every team member was super nice and attentive. Our drinks, order, food and check ins were all super friendly. They heard it was my birthday from our conversation and without asking they brought me Flan with whip cream, strawberries and candles. We were a party of 5 and she took care of us flawlessly. We ordered the beignets, they were delicious! I enjoyed their chilaquiles, which were perfectly prepared. We have always enjoyed Googies being locals The Googie omelette is really good and their eggs Benedict is my go to but today my mom and I went for a late lunch and she enjoyed her BLT with avocado and I've always liked their cheeseburgers there. They're very good very flavorful. Our service was great and it was a very busy when we went. I definitely recommend it was also very clean. They always have a very clean restroom. I wanted to give them a 4 1/2 star, but I don't know how to do the half. read more

First Time, Last Time I thought I would try something new for the Easter weekend and I had read recent positive reviews on this restaurant. Sorry, I can't support those positive vibes. After asking a few questions I decided on the (3) fish tacos with the loaded baked potato (extra charge) and a side of clam chowder. The pictures below show the tacos which were the most disappointing. While the corn tortillas taste fine, as a "To Go" order they are packaged completely wrong. The preparer decided to lay all the tortillas flat overlapping one another in the bottom of the box. Then all the topping including sauces were placed on top of the tortillas allowing all oif the juices to make the tortillas soggy. When I attempted to separate the tacos for plating, they completely fell apart. I have never had to eat a taco meal with a fork until now. On top of that the preparer also gave me a gift. A large slice of cabbage rind as part of the slaw. Really not hard to see (picture below). The fish flavor overall was bland. As for the Loaded Potato, their idea of loaded is just a thin layer of melted cheese laid over a few chives and small clumps of bacon bits. They correctly provided a small container of sour cream on the side, but it was totally insufficient for the size of the potato. Each condiment should have been provided in the same manner of the sour cream allowing the customer to dress their own food to their liking. So you give up the choice and value for rice or mashed potatoes and substitute a oversized potato with insufficient condiments, and charge an extra $5. The Clam Chowder definitely was lacking clams and potato's and was overly salty to the taste. For a bill total of almost $50 I don't think I can in good faith recommend this restaurant. read more

We just celebrated a birthday and had dessert. I was going to share Apple Pie with my husband but when it came to the table, the pastry was raw. It appears that the pie was microwaved but the crust was raw. The explanation given by a server was it was supposed to be chewy. Pancakes were shockingly small, order of bacon down to 2 pieces from 4, and the amount of potatoes disappointing. So different from the way it used to be. We didn't mind paying the prices, but this just makes it not worth it. The serving plates now look sad and empty and make it obvious they are making cuts. Breakfast for 2 was over $50 but with no alcohol. I know prices are up, bt wow. read more

Googie Grill is a solid choice if you're going out to eat in Seaside. The appetizers I tried were delicious (mushrooms, calamari, and brussel sprouts) and the fish and chips had a nice fry to it, not greasy and the twisty fries were a nice "twist." We had a large group so the service was strained but they were very friendly. The overall look and feel was modern but homey. I only wish the TVs were tuned into sports instead of a still scene screensaver. From the other diners with me, the halibut was a favorite as was the prawn risotto. The fish came in cut up pieces, not a whole filet of fish. The fries were good tho. I had the supposedly buttermilk brined fried chicken. My chicken didn't seem brined, it was a bit dry or overdone. Probably fried earlier & refried upon order. The chipotle sauce that it's served w/was bland & watery. It had a slight Smokey taste, but that was it. I would say the sides served w/our meals were good, fries, pilaf rice, & veggies, but entrees completely missed the mark. Traveling for work to Monterey and a coworker suggested this spot. We were seated right away by the manager named Ray. I'll tell you what....Ray is just fabulous in every way. I watched him just spending every second of his time catering to every table with the most incredible energy and enthusiasm. This man is just wonderful. If I ever opened a restaurant of my own....I would want him running it...nobody else....just Ray. I ordered the blackened Halibut with veggies and it was really good. My coworkers ordered Salmon and the other two ordered the meatloaf. All of us enjoyed our dishes but we were all mostly impressed with Ray. The man is just exceptional. We were comfortable and the place was clean. I will definitely go back to Googies when in town. read more

I'm giving this 1 star because yesterday I was with a group of people and we asked for individual checks, just makes things easier for everyone. The server said no problem. When we each got our bill, there was an 18% service charge automatically added to the total of each bill because of the individual bills. The server did not say anything ahead of time and there was still an expectation of a tip. Happy to patronize small business but not when you feel you've been taken advantage of. Coffee was expensive, and no one ever came by to offer a refill but then again we could've easily asked. My chai latte was delicious. Friend's egg Benedict was watery, as if they went straight from the pot to the plate - could use a quick dry before plating to avoid this. It's been 5 years since we visited this location but the quality of the food and service has not changed much. We went in on a Sunday morning and we were sat fairly quickly. Googies brought back lots of memories of 5 years ago so we spent some time taking pictures while waiting for our food. The kids food came quickly, pancakes with fresh fruit that they loved. I ordered the Googie Omelet that had smoked apple wood bacon, fresh avocado, and jack cheddar. The omelet was pretty good but I think the avocado would be better on top not cooked inside but I think that is just a personal like. My MIL and husband ordered Hailey's Comet Combo. The food was fresh when it came out and it did not take long. Service was quick with no hovering or delay on refills. This will continue to be a spot we stop at whenever in the area. read more

The fried fish was only three small pieces but was accompanied by a generous portion of delicious curly wedge fries and some Cole slaw. Went in on Mother's Day there were about 7 tables taken only 1 table had food and everyone else waited around to get help. We waited for 10 minutes before we were offered drinks restaurant was not busy at all waitress chose to serve who she wanted to first. After waiting 25 minutes a couple comes in and waitress immediatly helps them. I got up asked for my bill for coffee and they did not charge us as 3 other people walked out. Horrible service on Mothers Day. My first time took my mom everywhere else was a little busy but not this place which should have been a sign for me. There were about 4 couples in side and two families waitresses just walking back and forth focus in on one table only coffee server was quick.
