I went here on a stormy late afternoon and got the grilled cheese with grilled onions and grilled mushrooms. It was exactly what I was craving! Lots of ooey-gooey, melted cheese! The onions and mushrooms when perfectly with it. I also split a regular fry that had cajun seasoning on them with my hubby. They were okay, without the seasoning I don't think I could eat them. They were kinda soggy and a little more brown than I like my fries. I went to the one in Katy and their fries were the same way so it must be how they are taught to make them there. If you want juicy and greasy burgers and free peanuts this is the place! Quick service and delicious burgers. I normally order the little cheeseburger which is a single patty burger with a small original fries (also comes in cajun style). The menu has a list of free toppings (if you want it "all the way" it would be the toppings in black letters) and the red letters are extra toppings. I'm a simple kind of guy so I like my toppings at a minimal (lettuce, tomatoes, onions, mushrooms, and ketchup). The more toppings you add, I feel like the burger gets too "soggy" too quick. The fries I do have to admit has way too much salt, definitely will ask them not to add salt the next time I am in. The burger here is always fresh, have to give them that. The issue for me is, no taste to the meat. Salt and pepper before cooking would be great and make this a much better burger stop. I love the concept and the size of the burger, but they've got to season the patties. Without that, they are just average. Step above Burger King or McDonalds. The fries. I don't quite understand what the hype is about this place (mostly the hype plastered on the INSIDE of the building. The atmosphere was equivillant of a cheap diner . I'm not sure what they were trying to go for, but with the peanuts I felt it was between a baseball stadium and a trailer diner. Five Guys Burgers and Fries rates more of a two and a half stars but since Yelp has yet to allow for half stars, two will suffice. This is an establishment with "Burgers and Fries" in the name so it should reason that the burgers and fries should be tops. Not quite. While the burgers were not horrible, there was nothing special about them. The meat was decent quality but only average in taste as if any seasoning was forgotten during the preparations. The burger was a little greasy but manageable. This did give it some taste since it was lacking in seasoning. Buns were also just average. The fries were another matter altogether. If the burger had grease, the fries had GREASE. I have never and hope to never again encounter fries like these. Slick with grease, soggy from grease and tasting of nothing but grease is what they were. They are tossed in a bag that does nothing but soak up the oily coating from the fries and is messy to deal with. While there is nothing wrong with a little grease (it won't destroy you) these fries were overboard with the grease. It was so much so that they began to give us a heavy feeling as if the grease was sitting in the center of our digestive systems in one big glop. Needless to say, we were unable to eat most of them. They serve peanuts in shell here which was evident before we were offered any. This was another big mess. I don't want to knock cracked peanut shells out of the chair or move them to the side on the table or have my feet in them...you get the point. The peanuts were okay but unnecessary. The employees were friendly but friendly service doesn't always make up for lackluster food. If Five Guys would cut back on the grease factor it would be worth trying again. The Customer Service was A++. My first time at this location and the burger was great, I got almost all of the toppings and the rep on the register was so nice. He even asked if I wanted my jalapenos sauteed (Always get it this way, it was the best). He was so nice, then twice different employees came and asked my friend and I if we needed anything else and even refilled our water.
