I first visited HopDaddy in Southern California and was immediately captivated by their casual concept. I thought their Ahi Tuna, vegetarian burger - El Bandito, and truffle fries were fantastic so I was ecstatic to see a location open up in Richmond. I visited this location during their first week of opening and it was a complete disappointment. My Ahi Tuna was overcooked, and the fries were both soft and undercooked. When I brought these issues to the manager on duty, Jose, he responded curtly and dismissively, claiming that they were still in the early stages of operation and that perfection wasn't expected. Since then, I haven't been back. However, yesterday I found myself in the area and my lunch date was craving a burger. So I decided to give them another chance. I ordered their vegetarian burger, El Bandito, and was disappointed to find that the veggie patty was incredibly dry unlike my experience in California. While I really like the avocado slices and basil pesto sauce, the combination of the dry patty and buns left something to be desired. The truffle fries were not undercooked this time, but they were over-seasoned with salt so we could only finish half of the portion. My lunch date ordered the El Diabo and said it was good but very spicy. The staff was friendly and helpful with clearing the tables which was nice but other than that, I think I'll leave this location out of my restaurant rotation list. read more

Was craving a late night burger and saw this place was open and gave it a try. First walking in, it was well decorated and furnished but it can get overstimulating due to volume of sound and it's dark. The staff were super nice, the cashier gave us free drinks when we forgot to orders drinks and try to order them. I ordered the classic cheeseburger, the Mother Nature, and shareable hand-cut fries. Both of the burger were juicy and flavorful, the bun were soft and nicely toasted, and the veggies on the burger were fresh. The fries were amazing! Delicious! For an appetizer we ordered the truffle Brussels sprouts, so good! They separate the leaves of the Brussels sprout so there's a crispy piece in each bite. They were seasoned perfectly too, such a wonderful truffle aroma. To eat I got the chicken bacon ranch, one of the chicken sandwiches they offer. It comes with crispy onions, pickles, and of course bacon and ranch. I asked for avocado to be added on my sandwich. What's different about the chicken sandwiches here, is that their patties are made from fresh ground chicken. The patty was very moist and flavorful, I was surprised by how good it was! The bacon was cooked perfectly, the toppings were fresh and the pickles were great! Good size and taste, great crunch factor. We ordered the Green Chile queso fries to share. It was great that the queso came in a bowl, that way the fries do not get soggy. The fries were very crispy and thin, my favorite way to eat them. They do have an open bar that is accessible both inside and outside at the patio. Their frozen margaritas were really good. I enjoyed being able to sit outside and be able to sit at the bar as well. Don't worry about getting too hot, they had a fan blowing our direction the whole time. I really enjoyed my experience and the food here, definitely a great place to sit down and chitchat with friends. I need to come back and try their other sandwiches! Also, I believe they have monthly specialty sandwiches that are not available full time on the menu. In a space where there are too many ordinary burger spots per square mile, Hopdoddy Burger Bar stands out. I love the restaurant setup, dining room, take line and a very nice patio. It helps that there is a nice bar inside. Don't expect craft cocktails but the burgers are damn good. The Cadillac Wagyu burger is my favorite, loaded and messy. They allow you to use your imagination and add more toppings to a sandwich that comes loaded. A must try are the Hot Honey and Sage Fries, a separate order and a little pricey for fries but you get enough to share. Yes, it's worth driving by ten burger joints to get to Hopdoddy's and the prices aren't much more than a fast food drive through. read more

The employees here are so helpful and accommodating. This was my first visit and they really walk you through the process. Cute decor . There are a variety of beef and chicken options. I chose the Diablo burger. Warning , at first you think you can take the heat, but it intensifies. When I placed my order I was told it. Arrived some heat and they were right. I think they use habanero peppers . The burgers are cooked to order on a fresh bun. You can add toppings or delete items. The fries were normal , but well salted. Giving Hopdaddy another try. The restaurant was clean and the staff were friendly and attentive as can be with a counter service restaurant This time I got nacho fries without pico. I'm not a fan of raw onions and tomatoes. The fries were very good. They have what I think is a taco seasoning on it and then sliced avocado and sour cream. They're really tasty with just the right amount of salt and then that taco seasoning just adds a nice little kick to it. The creaminess of the avocado and sour cream complement the overall flavor of the fries well. I got the buffalo bill bison burger. It has bacon, buffalo sauce, lettuce, tomato and onion. I got mine minus the tomato and onion. The size of the burgers is not proportionate to the price. $14.99 for the bison burger and the fries are a separate item....i think they're around $9-10. The buffalo sauce was good. Not overly hot spice-wise with a blue cheese spread that was tasty but I could've used more on the burger. The bacon was perfectly cooked. Crispy but not crunchy, if that makes sense. I did not enjoy the texture of the bison meat. I found it to be grisly and tough. I've had many a bison burger in my life...never had one with this tough texture. It wasn't over cooked so I would've expected a more tender burger. I enjoy their maple cranberry lemonade with the unsweet black tea. A refreshingly tart drink. Overall, considering this was my second visit and there were hits but more misses in both meals plus the high cost of the food, I wasn't impressed enough to return. First, I do want to appreciate the Staff that made amends to what we experienced at the restaurant. I wrote this review as I was waiting on my food. When we got to Hopdoddy around 8:30pm, it seemed like they had just finished having a big rush. We ordered around 8:45pm. The cashier informed us that they serve fries and shakes before your meal comes , and I had to let her know that I would like my burger and fries to come out together. Even though it was put on my order to bring the fries with the meal, my fries were still brought out earlier. It took about one hour to actually get our order even though the rush was over. Despite the amount of workers they had , there were still a lot of dirty tables. When cleaning the tables , the staff were throwing the dirt on the floor which made the place look very unclean. Okay now to the food Diablo burger: 9/10 - it was definitely spicy. Had to pull out some of the peppers ngl. lol Cookies n crème shake: 8/10. Just the right amount of cookies in the shake . I probably shouldn't have got the whipped cream but we didn't let the cashier know. This is the large size . The small size is about 1/3 of this cup. Sweet potato fries: 5/10 - they were just the right amount of crisp but way too salty. The sauce it came with definitely elevated the fries. So the wife and I were looking for a new place to check out. The 99 area between Katy and Richmond are blowing up with new places. So a quick Yelp search landed us at Hopdoddy. Interesting name. So when we went in, the hostess gave us a slip of paper with a table number on it, they assign seats. Not really sure. Odd. Anyway we ordered and took our assigned seat. We split the hot chicken sandwich with a large order of original fries. As you can see in the pic, it's a bowl of hot, crispy FFs. Very good. Kinda like an appetizer. A few minutes later cake the sandwich. I was a surprised by the size - rather small. Enough for us to split but I got a 16 yr old son who would need at least two. As for the sandwich, outstanding. Just the right amount of heat to make my neck sweat a bit. All in all, food was great, but not the best bang for the buck. But cost is a relative thing. read more

I was really excited to go try Hopdoddy's ever since they opened. It was a bit different that we had to get a table number because when we first walk in, the hostess was helping someone else on the side, so if you didn't know, you would stand in line to order instead of getting a table # first. I think this is always the case with other Hopdoddy's, but it could've been better if there was a stand or sign that says get table first with hostess. We ordered truffle fries, mini shake, the thunderbird burger, and the nashville chicken burger. We enjoyed the Thunderbird chicken burger a lot. It is ground chicken. I would definitely go back for that. The only thing is that I said I didn't want the bacon, but they still put the bacon on it. I took it out before eating, but wish they got that part correct. The mini shakes were a good size and allow you to try each shake, but I thought both Oreo and strawberry were ok. The Nashville burger was very flavorful, but not as good compared to the Thunderbird for me. My disappointment is with the truffle fries because I find it to be a little too hard and thin? I've had it at other locations before, and in my memory, it was better texture and tasting. The ketchup and aioli sauce were good though. The restaurant itself looks a bit crowded but with the table assignments at the beginning, it is helpful. Once you have a table, the tables and seats are comfortable and spacious for seating. My friend and I came here for dinner on a Tuesday night. This is my third time coming here. I didn't leave a review from my second time. As a comparison from the first time, the brussels sprouts were better. They weren't as oily as before and still packed with strong flavor. The sweet potatoes are consistent from before and are great. I also had the ginger ale and maple cranberry lemonade. They were good and I wish I could take a cup to go. Also, their ice is similar to sonic ice. The staff were quick and nice. Tables were clean and stable. Not in the pictures and back tracking to my second time, but I also tried the burger on the house greens. Not as strong of a flavor compared to Brussels sprouts but I enjoyed the house greens more. If you like strong flavors, go with the Brussel sprouts. If you prefer a contrast in between bites from strong flavors, the burger, and mellow, house greens, go with the house greens. The burger from all three times were consistent and made as expected. I'll come here again for the burger on house greens to keep my low carb diet. Haha. read more

We visit this location frequently. This evening, we came in to celebrate my son's birthday. As we always do, we informed the staff of food allergies in our group, including a severe dairy allergy. This was also clearly noted on the receipt. When the food arrived, we immediately asked whether vegan cheese had been used on my son's burger. The server took the burger to the manager, Mr. Fuentes, who confirmed that it was vegan cheese. After only three bites, my son began showing signs of an allergic reaction. I approached the counter and asked for a slice of vegan cheese. The slice provided was yellow, while the cheese on the burger was white. I pointed out the discrepancy and expressed concern that a mistake had been made. Rather than apologizing, checking on my son, or attempting to correct the situation, the manager melted a slice of vegan cheese to prove the burger had been prepared correctly. The melted vegan cheese remained yellow, confirming my concern. I then mentioned that we also had a to-go order requesting vegan cheese. When the box was opened, it contained the same white cheese. The manager stated he would remake it to show that it would appear the same. Once again, the remade burger came out with yellow cheese. Throughout this interaction, there was no accountability, no apology, and no compassion. Instead, the manager continued to double down. He stated that he has worked for Hopdoddy for nine years and commented that because the restaurant serves many allergens, customers should "use caution" when eating there. This response was deeply concerning, especially given the seriousness of food allergies. I am expecting a follow-up from leadership regarding this incident, including a review of allergy-handling protocols at this location and appropriate corrective action. Food allergies are a serious health risk, and this situation should never occur--especially after allergies are clearly communicated and confirmed. read more

It was a bit strange that we were unable to pick our seat, you order at the counter and they give you an assigned table. Restaurant was a bit busy and service was pretty quick. Yay! HD Finally opened in Aliana Richmond community this week. First visit was good with a nice social family atmosphere for the suburbs. It was packed during new opening week. Food ( burgers, fries) was hot when it arrived at our table. The thunderbird chicken burger was amazing with side of parm truffle fries. Service was very slow due to amount of people piling in but happy they made it West Houston. My only gripe is that the burger portion size looked smaller than years ago and priced much higher. Service was hit and miss. when I asked about the portions of a regular fries, I was shown a silver bowl, when they arrived, there was a hand full of fries in the bottom of the bowl. We had 2 burgers (rather small) one order of regular fries, and two fountain drinks with tip $40 bucks. We enjoyed what we had, but the portions are way off. read more

First initial thought: Pretty disorganized. The to-go/take-out line is combined with the dine-in line but some employees allowed to-go customers skip the line to place their order.... The website shows they serve Non-Alcoholic margaritas but after placing the order the bartender said they do not... we had to be refunded after the order was placed. My fiancé ordered a strawberry milkshake but that didn't come out until after we received our food due to the machine malfunctioning. One of the managers gave us some free milkshake coupons which was nice. I ordered the thunderbird and I would give it a 7/10. This location opened up recently and I wanted to eat a burger. We ordered using the Hopdoddy app which had pricing , pictures and a detailed list of options that we can go through to customize a burger. We ordered for our entire house hold the following -Doddy Melt -Chicken Bacon Ranch (substituted with beef) -El Diablo -Sweet Potato Fries -Nacho Fries -Buffalo Fries -Housemade Lemonade (Cranberry Maple) I personally had the El Diablo which had a good spicy kick and great taste. I also had the nacho fries which was delicious with its avocado, green chile queso, sour cream and Pico - and taco seasoned fries. I also had the cranberry maple lemonade which was great. As for service, once we came in, we were greeted by one of the employees who asked if we wanted to dine in or did a pick up. The interior was pretty good, a standard burger joint like location - decently sized. Check the attached pictures for more insight. I go to this location a couple times a month. Seems like the service and a clean place to sit are getting worse. The staff messed up on my burger. I asked for a meal and was not given what I wanted. Love the Truffle Fries and Crispy Brussels. Burgers are decent. Cooked well enough with good flavors and ingredients. I could understand the why behind its hype but couldn't warrant the cost for its size, especially with other choices in and around the area. I'm really hoping they were having cooling issues because I can't fathom how it would feel inside during middle of the summer afternoons. Walked outside after our meal and with the breeze, sitting outside would have been a better option. Go figure. And hated. Hateddddd how dirty or dingy the bathrooms felt. Both stalls were unisex, first stall had zero toilet paper and the floor was disgustingly wet. Second stall at least had toilet paper but the floor was just as wet. Literally the whole floor in both bathrooms seemed "dewy." I tried not to let my imagination take over trying to figure out off again, was it cooling issues or somehow every patron just shook their wet hands to dry them... hopefully nothing worse than that, who knows. But if you're here for the burgers, you'll be alright. For the ambiance and bathroom cleanliness, meh. Also had very little interaction with the staff so we'll rate the service as okay. read more
