Good food as usual, but really poor customer service. I ordered pick-up for delivery, and even tipping well on the initial order before picking it up didn't change anything! They were not very busy and had at least five or six employees there, none of which greeted or asked me what I needed. After waiting for close to five minutes by the "pick-up order" counter (and them eventually helping someone behind me), I finally told one of the works (who walked past me and stared several times) that I needed to pick up my order. I told him my name and he retrieved it from the order bin. He never once said a word, including whenever I told him "thank-you" as he finally handed me the bag. Everyone knows how great Five Guys food is but I'd like to give accolades to how great the staff is at this location. We were in town for the night & decided apon this location because the was close to where we were staying. It was around 8pm and we went in to order. The very friendly guy(with a great smile to boot) asked for just a minute & he'd be right with us. He obviously looked like he'd taken a beaten but remained cheerful & upbeat. The entire staff had just been hit with a huge party of like 20+ people! They were still ordering milkshakes later on as we received our order yet through it all he welcomed us with great service, very personable & even chatted sports with us. The staff was also personable & upbeat in spite of the slam that just occurred. Hats off to this great guy & the rest of the staff! Started a new job near the 5 Guys on West Kennedy in Tampa and was going there once a week for lunch. My shift starts early so my lunch break is from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. My 4th visit there I arrived at 10:55 and they open at 11 but the front door was open so I walked in and proceeded to the ordering counter. After standing there several minutes, a young woman yelled to me from across the room that "We don't open til 11 o'clock so that is when I will take your order!" I would gladly have waited for the magical 11 o'clock hour, but I will not stand there and be yelled at by a disrespectful employee. I turned and walked out and will not be returning to this 5 Guys. The food was good and I was served quickly, but the real thing that I noticed was how incredibly friendly and outgoing the manager of this location was. The guy who greeted me at the door went out of his way to be friendly and make sure that my order was taken care of. Hate to pull the "In N Out" card, but being from CA, the comparison has to be made. My burger was ok, and I appreciated the topping choices, but they forgot the bbq sauce, and my tomatoes were quite mealy. The double patty was a nice surprise though. Unfortunately the meat was a bit bland. Fries were overflowing for a "regular," would like to see the large (but not order it, can't eat that much). They weren't all that exciting though. Somewhere between shoestring (my preference) and steak fries, and on the bland side as well. The smaller, crispy ones were good, due to the skin on, but on the whole I left a lot due to disinterest. I had heard a lot of hype about 5 Guys, even people from CA saying it is better than In N Out, but I respectfully disagree. In N Out is cheaper, and has better fries. For not having an In N Out for 2000 miles, 5 Guys (in Tampa) is by no means bad, but it's just not all that exciting in the end. I might visit again if I was in Tampa, but never in CA. read more

Postmates doesn't offer a comments area so I called the location to inform the kitchen of my allergy and asked if they could do a glove change when handling my order. So..... I'm guessing this will generate hate mail... but... really unimpressed. I went a while back and had an iffy experience, so I thought I'd try again, on a day when I -really- was in the mood for a good/great burger. So many people who are friends are all about this place, I figured I just hit a bad day. Nope. Just as greasy and uninspired as the last time. I got a burger & fries for takeout. The Fries: Really? The portion is epic (good, I suppose - for 2.99 it should be) but the fries themselves are sodden, limp and, well, unappetizing. I ate some of them, then dumped the rest in the bag to help drain off some of the grease. I love a good frite - you know, where they are crispy in the outside and fluffy on the inside? The Europeans do it right - flash boiled, then flash fried - wonderful - but these are like home fries with extra grease. The Burger: Well - the meat was good. Fresh beef fried on a big flat top... kinda like Steak n Shake. But not as good. The bun was soggy, and the burger itself was way smaller than the bun. As I was eating, I ran out of patty long before I ran out of bun. Pickles: Sweet chips - I prefer dill, but I like both. The relish was MIA, the mustard was too... Worst offense? KRAFT SINGLES for cheese. WTF? At these prices I expect cheddar at the very least..... but PROCESSED CHEESE FOOD???? Ugh. Sidenote: I took the fries out the next day (after sitting in a paper bag in the fridge overnight) put them in the toaster oven and they improved a great deal. 3 words.... SO FREAKIN' GOOD!!! I think I just gained 5 lbs...but it's worth it!!! I had the cheeseburger with ketchup, mayo, and pickles and an order of fries. The cheeseburger is not one but two juicy, tasty meat patties. oh my god!!!...so good!!!! This is on the top of my list as ONE OF THE BEST BURGERS that I have ever had!!! The regular order of fries is huge...you can share with two people and still have plenty left over. They're made with the skins on and fried in peanut oil. Served in a brown paper bag. I'm a big fan of Five Guys. I reviewed the Countryway location but this one is closer to work and I've been here several times. I've also gone to the Fowler store. Five Guys appears to have very good consistency and quality control, as the quality of the burgers (and the awesome 1/2 pound hot dog!) is the same as in their other locations. American's may be used to amazing burgers or "patties" but as an Irish lass, after a long journey from Dublin to Tampa, I had a "died and gone to heaven" moment as I chomped my first five guys burger. Soft bun, crisp lettuce, fresh tomato, spicy jalapeno and, two, yes, two succulent, tender, juicy patties that made me audibly groan at the flavour party in my mouth. After having some of the best burgers in my life from Burger Culture, I seriously think Five Guys is "okay". They do give you a ton of food so kudos to them for that. Their prices can be a little crazy but their food is outstanding. If you're looking to be on a diet, don't go here. Four stars for the fries, which are the stuff of which dreams are made. They come in a paper bag, which quickly stains with the grease, just like at a carnival. These fries are as home-made as something can be when sold at a national chain. They come with some skin on, the best of the genre. And the portions are ample beyond belief. In fact, I have never tried the 'large,' only the "small," which is big enough to give you a coronary. As for the beef, I am a little less impressed. It's tasty enough. I just don't care for the pricing, which seems a bit high for "fast food." Suddenly, this chain is all over the area. I hope they don't overexpand and wear out their welcome. read more

Mmmmm Five Guys has great fries. And there burgers are pretty darn good too! But there are way better Five Guys than this. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad. It is the closest to my work and so I have been here a handful of times. On one occasion I ate in. The rest I brought my food back to the office. I really like the topping selection. I usually got my burgers fully loaded. But that makes them very messy. The burgers here seem a bit extra messy. Also tasty but oh so messy. Maybe it's just because I am on break, but they seem to go really slow here! Uhhhg it takes 10 to 15 minutes to get your food. I wish I could give Five Guys 5 Stars, and relatively speaking they deserve it compared to fast food. But this place is just not very fast. read more

Finally, a fast food chain that is fresh in quality! Five Guys gives you freedom to customize your burger just the way you like it without having to question "What is THAT in my burger?!" :P Buns are okay but the meat is full of juice, not dry at all. Fries come in two flavors; regular or cajun, and are cooked in peanut oil; leaving the outcome to be healthy(yes, HEALTHY!), crunchy & crispy texture, a just a bite full of flavors. Top french fries! Staff here is great! Excellent service and exactly as ordered. As soon as I walked in the guy on the grill greeted me and asked me what he could get started. for me. The gentleman whom took our order was extremely funny and polite. Upsold my girlfriend a milkshake (kudos to this salesman) and everything was perfect. His name was "Sam B" according to the receipt. I walked in at 9:30pm (30 mins before close) and they acted like it was no problem which is EXTREMELY odd for most restaurant people who huff and puff over late night orders. One of my favorite burger joints in the area. I like that you get to tell them what you want on your burger. Staff is always super nice and accommodating to my request for no salt on fries. A little pricey for fast food BUT at the same time you get a good amount of food. 4.5 stars.... DC originated chain is the "in and out burger" of the east. huge burgers... the regular is a double and way too big for me. Toppped the way you like it... i like it all the way and a mound of fresh french fries and they can tell you where the potatoes came from... get them cajun style. Tonight we ordered burgers on lettuce wraps and not until they handed us our order were we told that they were out of lettuce? Glad we paid full price for hamburger patties in a bowl. This place is okay. I'm not a huge fan of this place . But probably because I'm not a beef person . Would love it if they would make a veggie burger! They have this veggie sandwhich but it's just go just fried veggies on the grill kind of boring . They could expand the menu a little bit and add more food products . This is like the East Coasts In N Out. I guess they have one in Carson but thats still 2 hours from SD so you cant just get in your car and go...well maybe you can but anyways....... Menu consists of burgers, fries, drinks and you can get a hot dog or a grilled cheese and thats it. I have heard about them and this was pretty close to our hotel so we stopped in. No frills. They only offer a few things but they do all of them well! We got 2 burgers, a hot dog, a large fries and 2 drinks. It came out to over 20 bucks which isnt "cheap" but it is well worth it! The burgers are totally customizeable. You tell them what you want and exactly what you want on it. When you order a burger you look at the price and see 5.69. A bit much but what I didnt realize is they are double burgers. Fresh, never frozen. Big patties of beef and some excellent bacon too. An excellent burger! The hot dog was pretty good and the fries were bomb. Fresh cut with the skins left on. We couldnt even finish a large and we split it. They even have big barrells of peanuts for you to munch on while waiting for your food. An excellent restaurant and if they had one in SD, I would be hitting it up often! read more
