Went to Five Guys about a month ago and was pleased with the decor and east coast style of doing things. I ordered a burger and hot dog with fries and it was pretty good. I wasn't blown away but I was pleased it was a good burger sort of like the one mom would make me on the stove top back in the day. I have tried every burger known to man and I have some picky taste buds when it comes down to burgers. I can see myself going back here one day not bad. read more

Yep, I fell for it too. All the hype behind this burger joint on Forbes magazine. Well, I paid $10.86 for a burger, fries, and soda. Nothing special about any of it. It was ok. The worst part is that they give everyone's order in a paper bags(even in you don't want take-out). There is no tray,so you just take your paper bag and sit your ass down. Seems kinda cheap for a place that charges above normal for a normal burger. It was a Friday afternoon and the place was pretty empty. Won't go back for a while. read more

Considering they have In-n-Out right across the street from their location, I would add a good value combo to their menu! $6.59 for a mini bacon cheeseburger? I guess there's a lot of hype about Five Guys. Never heard of them myself, but it seemed like it was worth a try. Anything that claims to be as good or better than IN and OUT is worth looking into. The place was hopping. The burgers are tasty. I wish I'd known that a regular burger comes with two patties. I didn't need that. The toppings are great and there's a lot to choose from. I was really disappointed by the bun. It didn't hold the burger together and it all became a sloppy mess. If you're going to charge premium prices (and boy do they) you need to pay attention to the bun as well as the burger. Price-$35 for 3 burgers, 2 fries and 3 regular drinks seems steep. Too steep. The burger wasn't that special and I'll be going back to IN & OUT. Hands down the fries kick ass over those nasty edible for 5 minutes fries from IN & OUT. I'll give them that. Staff was friendly until we brought it to their attention that they'd messed up our order. They weren't all that interested in having us leave as happy satisfied customers. There war is on! And it's against In-N-Out vs. Five Guys! But overall, Five Guys was very satisfying to my taste buds. They have way more variety than In-N-Out. Now you see the thing is, I'm the type of person who likes pretty much EVERYTHING on their hamburgers. Now with the Five Guys burgers, I can;t really do that. I mean, yeah I can, its no that they don't allow you to because they do. It's just that it falls apart way to quickly and easily. But I mean hey. If you don;t mind that, then this is the place for you!! The fries are amazing, especially the cajun fries. Get them! I totally recommend trying them at least once if you haven't already. Stop being boring and getting the plain fries and live a little on the wild side with the cajun. Also the service here is great! They are very friendly and welcoming to their customers. And the whole crew just seem like a genuinely happy crew overall. But yeah, take a break from In-N-Out for once and try out one of these bad boys for a change. I have to warn all that visit. This is the most over priced lousy food imaginable. They act as if they sell the best burger in town but it simply isn't so. I ordered a hot dog, large fries, a small coke and a BLT. My wife had the BLT sandwich and was shocked that I paid $5.00 for a lousy sandwich that was on a small hamburger bun. The fries were way too greasy and tasteless. Oh yes, don't forget to get your complimentary stale peanuts. The help is considerate but this chain is one to stay away from. read more

Five guys: Home of the bland burger patty, below standard buns, & overpriced everything... I saw the how packed the parking lot was this pass weekend & decided to wait till the hype was down. So I took the Fam there yesterday for dinner...our 1st & last time there. The positives: I LOVE the selection of toppings & sauces offered...especially the A1 steak sauce & grilled jalapenos, the Wifey loves the grilled onions & shrooms, & Jr. loves how much bacon they put in their burgers. The Cajun fries are awesome & they serve enough for 4 if you order the extra large. I also like the the fact that they serve a great split hot dog with the same large selection of toppings & sauces. The negatives: We spent $27 for 2 cheeseburgers, 1 small bacon-cheeseburger, 1 bacon-cheese hot dog, & 1 extra large Cajun fries...no drinks. Basically, it wasn't worth $27. The burger itself was bland & really needed seasoning...the toppings weren't enough to disguise that. The customer service was "A-OK" but the whole wannabe military school shouting was annoying. If I were to buy a meal at In-N-Out for my Fam, it would have cost me $15-$18 & that's with a large lemon-up & shakes. Maybe it's because I feel that In-N-Out is more of a West Coast thing that caters to what the SoCal people like & that the prices at In-N-Out will always be great...especially in this f'd up economy. I was thinking about keeping Five Guys as a hotdog joint but I decided not to...the prices for their hotdogs are overpriced too. LONG STORY MADE SHORT, we will never go to Five guys again...In-N-Out FTW! Oh & if you're looking for another great burger joint that offers more than just a great burger, try out Tam's on Lambert between Painter & Laurel/Greening...like In-N-Out, it's superior to Five Guys. read more

I went here with a friend and I just have to say, it's really pretty damn good. I can't compare it to In-N-Out for a couple reasons. first off, their burgers are entirely different in comparison to In-N-Out. You can't compare a famous star to a big mac, and you can't compare these two because they're prepared so differently and have an entirely different style. Second, In-N-Out has incredible food and their prices are perfect (except the price on animal fries). 5 guys costs a bit more. those are my only two reasons why you can't compare the two, but in all honesty, it's in another league outside In-N-Out (not in a good way or a bad way). The burger was certainly tasty. this isn't a place I'd eat at regularly, but for the occasional treat, it's pretty damn good. the show-stealer (for me) was the cajun fries. Being cajun myself, I could certainly tell you that these fries aren't necessarily "cajun" at all, they just used a seasoning that's spicy, and for some reason put the word "cajun" in front of it. they could have called them spicy fries, but whatever. The point is, these fries are damn good. they actually are quite spicy. also, you get a hell of a lot. I don't think I've ever finished all the fries, especially after such a large burger! I can't say it's better than In-N-Out, but I also can't say In-N-Out is better than this place. they're both too different if you ask me. oh, also, they have free peanuts, for whatever that's worth. pretty cool and all. i love me some peanuts read more

Fries - BOMB. Burger - MEH. Prices - ABSURD. My husband & I went here last night to try it for the first time. We noticed it was EMPTY yet the In & Out across the street was packed. Now, we know why. Yes, you get a bigger burger with a plethora of toppings to put on said burger but toppings don't replace the actual FLAVOR missing in the patty itself. Our burgers were bland, mine was dry, and quite frankly, I could've skipped the patty and just had the bacon, onions and mushrooms that I added. It's like they don't believe in seasoning their patty. I just paid $12 for a "little" cheeseburger, a "little" fry and a drink. Crazy! Little means one patty on the burger instead of the normal two. The burger and fries were fresh but nothing special. It felt like a backyard BBQ burger, something I could make at home. Certainly not something I would ever spend $12 on again! I much prefer In and Out or The Habit. Good food. Not great. Burgers are pretty generic. Main thing that sets them apart is the sheer volume of topping options they give you (toppings dont cost extra, cept for bacon and xtra cheese i think). Fries have a different taste to them with the "Cajun Seasoning" but its kinda bland. So it just comes down to limp fries with a little kick to them. You can probably get a better burger at Carl's or if you want a MUCH better burger, go to Fatburger. read more

Tried it out just to see what the hype was all about. I grew up in socal so any new burger place will always be compared to in n out and Jim's burgers. I had the burger, everything on it except cheese, small fry and small drink. 10.50 wow could have gone to TGIF and been waited on. The fries were limp and greasy when I bit them they were soggy with grease and way too much salt. The burger itself did taste fresh but it had no seasoning on it very bland! The place was so noisy my boy couldn't hear me when we tried talking. Overall the food was just mediocre and the price certainly didn't help things out! oh and I was craving a shake but they don't sell any! Huh? The friend I was with ordered a bacon cheeseburger and he paid almost 13 bucks, way overpriced for a fast food joint. Well after hearing all of the hype about this place, I too had to check it out. This was my first time to any of the locations and I ended up here due to the proximity. This location was clean and the staff was very friendly greeting everyone as they entered and saying thank you as they exited. I was impressed by the number of toppings that they offer and they have a decent menu and drink selection as well. The all you can eat peanuts is a nice touch too. However, when my bill came out to almost $15 for a regular hamburger, medium fries and regular drink, I started to lose interest. I thought I'll keep an open mind for I haven't even received my order yet. It does take a while for your order to be prepared but it seemed like it was worth the wait. I was watching all the fresh ingredients that were being prepared so I was getting excited. After receiving my order, the medium fries were enough for 2 people and the Cajun flavor was really good. The burger wasn't as big as I thought especially having ordered it "all the way" (which means with everything). However, it doesn't taste like fast food at all. The patty was really meaty and I would compare to having a backyard BBQ with your "Grill Master" Uncle is at the helm. I just wished it was a bit bigger especially for the price that I paid. Overall, it was good but NOT OMG delicious and I might go back just because the customer service was great. I see everyone trying to compare it to In N Out but honestly there is no comparison for these are 2 different tastes. I went there this afternoon to grab a burger and was amazed. There were these two guys working the grill as I'm waiting in line the taller dark haired guys asks me how many patties I wanted before I got to the register to expedite my order. After I ordered I sat and waited. He and the blond guy working the grill started singing to the music playing in the restaraunt. They saw me waiting and offered me some Peanuts to take with me. The best part is being able to customize your burger with so many choices of toppings (I always ask for grilled jalepenos). Ordering a regular size fries is good enough for 2 people. i'm sure they are used to a noisy volume level at five guys, but when i went to this location (with my friend) the employees were yelling as if is was noisy in there. i think it is quiet enough that if a hamster was sleeping, and i coughed, it would wake it up. the burger taste like something that I can make at home (almost identical) it doesn't matter how much any of the Five Guys locations are glorified. they are below par at best. read more

This location was great... I've had it once prior to this time but it was cold cause I was tooooo hungover to eat it lol.... Anywayyyyyys! Right when I entered this location everyone greeted us and said hi and welcome... They have good customer service and good food. The regular sized fries were enough for 2 or 3 people. Everyone compares 5 guys to In N Out. Although 5g has similar colors in their decorations, in my opinion this comparison is apples vs oranges. Therefore, if you go in expecting In N Out, you are setting yourself up for disappointment if for no other reason then the food is very different. I think of it as a good second place alternative to INO because I think it's much better then most other chains. read more

I'd give their food 5 stars if the price was better! I'm one of those people who feels this burger IS better than In-N-Out's. Why? I liked the thickness of the burger and the fact that I got to use BBQ sauce on it! It just felt like I had made it myself and I was cooking in our backyard! However, the price is INSANE! $10 for a burger fries and a drink? If you are a normal girl there is NO WAY you can even make a dent in the amount of fries they give you!
