Not sure if it's because we came around 6:00pm and the sun was BEATING down, but it felt like there was no air conditioning inside of the space. Also, my boyfriend had his eye on the Chili Dog all day to which they did not have any more chili when we arrived, which was also a bummer. Besides that, the food was very good. Definitely worth getting the lobster roll bun; little crispy outside and fluffy inside. The Elote dog was delicious with the lime on top! The hot dog was also bacon wrapped which I had no idea. So flavorful and yummy. The garlic fries tasted exactly like Dodger Stadium which felt like I was transported back in this very LA representative establishment. The aioli that came with the garlic fries were yummy. The boyfriend enjoyed his House Dog; just wished that there was more bacon bits on top! This place has the best hot dogs, I come all the way from Fullerton just for them. My son got the house dog, I got the veggie dog which is my favorite and the garlic fries but I finished it before I event got to take a picture. I had my first Dirt Dog at the Shop in Vegas. It was good, and not taking away anything from them but today in Downey it was excellent. I had the House Dog and it was like getting one off a Street Vender in LA. Major compliment by he way. I got mine on a Brioche Bun which took it to a whole new level. Best Dog I ever had. The Garlic Fries hit hard too. I should have asked about the sauce that came with it but it had the consistency of Comeback Sauce but smoother and a pleasing bite of Roasted Garlic. I would eat it on a Shoe. The Cashier who's name is Kenya was very knowledgeable and told me straight up that everything was good but if I like a good Street style Dog than the House Dog was the way to go. The Brioche Bun just took it to another level. The Cook who's name is Carlitos made another batch of those Garlic fries that I had to have. OMG. He didn't speak much English and my Spanish is limited but over this food we had a whole conversation in Engspanglish. Lol. I'm looking for him when I go back. I came to this location for the first time on a Tuesday afternoon and it was empty. No wait at all, and service was quick, and appreciated. There is seating indoor and outdoor but we sat outside since it was a bit stuffy inside. The worker was nice and she served us everything we needed. I got a Patty melt, D.U.I. dog, LA Cheesesteak, Asada fries, and Garlic fries. Everything was pretty good and worth the price. Drove by this place and it looked closed but upon further investigation I found it to be open. The service was great and the food was delicious! Absolutely will be back to try out the rest of the menu. Plenty of seating inside as well as some outside seating. In a pretty big shopping mall so parking will not be a problem. The food while they don't use hot dog buns still tasted amazing! The ambiance was very chill and quiet for lunch. It was not very busy maybe 2 others customers came in as we sat down and enjoyed our meal. They do sell alcohol which is nice but I was on company time. Dirt Dog has been on my radar for a while for their hot dogs as they have locations in LA, Long Beach, and the Las Vegas Strip. What finally got me to come in was because I saw an article on LA Taco which mentioned that Dirt Dog had some legit carnitas. The article was written in 2023 and, unfortunately, Dirt Dog isn't presently serving the carnitas; however, we still made sure we took the opportunity to try their hot dogs, carne asada fries, tacos, and elote. Our favorite thing was the hot dog that they are known for. I kept it simple with their "house dog", because I don't need a fancy dog to be happy. What I appreciated about the hot dog is that they had a pretty top quality hot dog bollilo/bun, I appreciated the bacon wrapped beef hot dog, and the sauteed veg. It's a good hot dog. I liked the carne asada fries as the fries are crispy with seasoning and the dressings (salsa, onion, cilantro, guac) and carne asada were nice. Their large size wasn't really super large, but it was a decent portion size for my wife and I. Elote and tacos were okay for me - they're not what I'd order on a return visit. If I wanted asada, I'd get it with the fries. I hope that they'll consider bringing back their carnitas at a later time as I'd love to try them. AMBIANCE : I visited the Downey location on Sunday after I was not able to visit the Vegas one. Upon entering the ambiance is set up as a warehouse with rap idols on the wall. I enjoyed the music that was playing , I think it is the first place where they played music straight off my playlist. The place was clean and not to much obstructing the pathways. I do think the place is quiet small considering the quantity of people are entering. Should consider expanding!? SERVICE I did not like the service but I really felt that they were understaffed during the time that I went. The ladies were super nice and they do bring everything out. They took a long to bring out the food and the dessert didn't come till the end of our meal. It worked out for us! The service could have been better but not a deal breaker!
