Not sure if it's because we came around 6:00pm and the sun was BEATING down, but it felt like there was no air conditioning inside of the space. Also, my boyfriend had his eye on the Chili Dog all day to which they did not have any more chili when we arrived, which was also a bummer. Besides that, the food was very good. Definitely worth getting the lobster roll bun; little crispy outside and fluffy inside. The Elote dog was delicious with the lime on top! The hot dog was also bacon wrapped which I had no idea. So flavorful and yummy. The garlic fries tasted exactly like Dodger Stadium which felt like I was transported back in this very LA representative establishment. The aioli that came with the garlic fries were yummy. The boyfriend enjoyed his House Dog; just wished that there was more bacon bits on top! The hot wings were HOT and fresh out of the fryer and steaming! The were very meaty and filling, paired perfectly with the cool ranch. From the brioche bun to the meat. Everything I had was flavorful. I don't know why, but the hot dog mixed very well with the cheesesteak . I came to this location for the first time on a Tuesday afternoon and it was empty. No wait at all, and service was quick, and appreciated. There is seating indoor and outdoor but we sat outside since it was a bit stuffy inside. The worker was nice and she served us everything we needed. I got a Patty melt, D.U.I. dog, LA Cheesesteak, Asada fries, and Garlic fries. Everything was pretty good and worth the price. Drove by this place and it looked closed but upon further investigation I found it to be open. The service was great and the food was delicious! Absolutely will be back to try out the rest of the menu. Plenty of seating inside as well as some outside seating. In a pretty big shopping mall so parking will not be a problem. The food while they don't use hot dog buns still tasted amazing! The ambiance was very chill and quiet for lunch. It was not very busy maybe 2 others customers came in as we sat down and enjoyed our meal. They do sell alcohol which is nice but I was on company time. Definitely a 9.5/10 will be back to sample the rest of the menu. read more

Dirt Dog has been on my radar for a while for their hot dogs as they have locations in LA, Long Beach, and the Las Vegas Strip. What finally got me to come in was because I saw an article on LA Taco which mentioned that Dirt Dog had some legit carnitas. The article was written in 2023 and, unfortunately, Dirt Dog isn't presently serving the carnitas; however, we still made sure we took the opportunity to try their hot dogs, carne asada fries, tacos, and elote. Our favorite thing was the hot dog that they are known for. I kept it simple with their "house dog", because I don't need a fancy dog to be happy. What I appreciated about the hot dog is that they had a pretty top quality hot dog bollilo/bun, I appreciated the bacon wrapped beef hot dog, and the sauteed veg. It's a good hot dog. I liked the carne asada fries as the fries are crispy with seasoning and the dressings (salsa, onion, cilantro, guac) and carne asada were nice. Their large size wasn't really super large, but it was a decent portion size for my wife and I. Elote and tacos were okay for me - they're not what I'd order on a return visit. If I wanted asada, I'd get it with the fries. I hope that they'll consider bringing back their carnitas at a later time as I'd love to try them. Wowwwwww! This place was absolutely DELICIOUS!!! We got the agua frescas, elote dog, carne asada fries, birria tacos, and of course some cheesecake and everything was seriously a 10 out of 10!!! I would give them 6 stars if I could! The staff was also very nice and friendly, they even brought our food to our table for us! The place is pretty small inside so only a few tables available but we looooved the vibe! The music was pumping and we appreciated the Snoop Dogg hahaha! The entire staff were all so great but a big special thanks to Julie, girl you are the sweetest thing and just absolutely made our night special. Thank you so much! I had the elote veggie dog on the lobster roll and the veggie house special on the regular bun. I enjoyed both very much but my favorite was the elote dog. My husband had the regular beef LA cheesesteak dog on a lobster roll and he said it was so good and didn't leave one bite. We also ordered a large esquite, hit the spot for sure! Got a large strawberry Jamaica in a little jarrito it was so damn cute, this was like nothing I've tried before and I am now putting this on my cravings list!! We got three orders of wings, one set in each flavor because we couldn't make up our minds on which one to try lol they were all good but my favorites were the bbq and mango habanero. We ordered the small dirty fries and that spicy ketchup was bomb! Fries were delicious and well cooked. We also got a churro and deep fried Oreos. My god. That churrro. The customer service was not good or bad just super minimal. I had the chili dog and carne asada fries. The hot dog was pretty good. The carne asada fries however, were bad. The meat was overcooked and tough. They threw some slightly melted shredded cheese, a little scoop of avocado and pico, and some sour cream on a small serving of fries. The WORST part of the experience was when she said the total. For 1 hot dog, 1 bad carne asada fries, and a drink, $28.04. Nothing special unfortunately. read more

I got the elote dog and "hot" hot dog from this location and the elote dog was delicious, the "hot" hot dog is loaded with birria but it got really soggy and the birria is dry. I checked them out online and read the backstory of how the place got its start. The menu is great as it has very creative variations on hotdogs as well as other fantastic menu items such as wings, specialized fries and a few dessert items. I met Julia and Felipe who work at the Downey location. They were very welcoming, friendly and ready for business. I purchased the Cheesesteak Dog and the DUI Dog. Both were terrific! They were both filling and taste great! The service is friendly and fast. All items are made to order and served hot and fresh. So this is our first time to this location. It was good but not as good as the original located in Commerce City. Everything was cooked better and tasted fresher however this place was decent. If you're in the area, it's worth a drop in. I highly recommend the esquite and the fried Oreos but I would skip the breakfast burrito. There's a reason that it's only at this location. Stopped at Dirt Dog before a Clippers game for a quick snack. I got the Elote Dog, Hot Hotdog, and Fried Oreos. You can choose between a traditional bun or a toast bun--we went with toast for the Hot Hotdog, and it was way better. The "Hot Hotdog" itself was loaded with toppings and had a nice kick. AMBIANCE : I visited the Downey location on Sunday after I was not able to visit the Vegas one. Upon entering the ambiance is set up as a warehouse with rap idols on the wall. I enjoyed the music that was playing , I think it is the first place where they played music straight off my playlist. The place was clean and not to much obstructing the pathways. I do think the place is quiet small considering the quantity of people are entering. Should consider expanding!? Was in the Downey area (coming from Long Beach) looking for a quick new place to stop for lunch. I recognized the name "Dirt Dog", and suddenly it occurred to me this restaurant was once one of several, and once had a location in Long Beach. The LB location closed before I had found out about it. Hot dogs are something I don't ordinarily like embellished with a bunch of toppings - I like their simplicity, affordability and the convenience of quick cooking them at home, or picking up a cheap dog at the gas station. However, after looking up pictures of the food on Yelp, these looked a level above just "dogs with extra toppings". A level above, indeed. Ordered the DUI Dog. Firstly, there are two bun options. A traditional hot dog bun and a split-top lobster-roll style bun. Tough choice, but I opted for the regular bun. It was anything but regular, very large, high quality bakery bun which was beautifully toasted inside and out. There was a little sear on the exterior that shows it was prepped with care. Inside, a large bacon-wrapped Nathan's dog, shredded cheese, pastrami, nicely seasoned carne asada, bacon bits [which were crisp and added a perfect bit of texture], and dressed in chipotle aioli and a little bit of cilantro. Seems a little convoluted, but everything worked wonderfully together. Tasted great[and high quality ingredients], presentation was great, preparation was great.
