The reviews for this place are almost universally positive, so maybe my experience was an aberration, but this was not the best. I came here on Thursday midday with a handful of colleagues for a work lunch/bonding experience. This particular Five Iron location is a short walk from the office (probably five minutes or so) right off Herald Square; the signage is a little inconspicuous from the outside, but we didn't have any difficulties locating it and accessing the premises on the 5th floor (we looked on the map carefully before leaving the office, and I'd recommend the same for anyone else unsure). The actual setup is pretty cool; it's a very spacious facility, which makes sense, with at least two different bar areas, a very nice bathroom and then at least 12 golf simulators with accompanying couches, etc. Definitely could have been more that I didn't see. The primary issue is that the heat was very clearly not working, or at least it wasn't in our section (11). One employee made a remark about the temperature, but we never received an apology nor offer to go to a warmer area. Given that we've been in the midst of an atrocious sub-freezing stretch, it was legitimately uncomfortable/unpleasant, to the point where I ultimately put my winter jacket and accessories back on because I was having trouble feeling my extremities. A huge miss in my book on multiple levels. The actual simulator was pretty cool. I had ZERO formal golf experience coming in, though I've acquitted myself well over the years at various mini-golf outings, but this is a different, more sophisticated beast entirely. One of my co-worker chums is a legitimate golfer who played varsity in high school and has golfed at the Old Course at St. Andrews (which I can tell, even as someone who's a golf bumpkin, is clearly a flex), so he looked right at home in front of the simulator. The closest type of experience I have is high school softball/Little League, so my swing SORT OF mimicked the correct way to go about things, but not really. All that to say, I was pretty bad but it was still fun. I'm not entirely convinced it truly gave accurate representations of what would have happened if we'd been at St. Andrews (I picked that course for the one hole we ended up doing), but no matter. The food I had was mediocre at best. There's some metaphorical window dressing on this menu (a few Indian and Mediterranean food references, e.g.), but ultimately it's just normal bar food, which is fine in theory. I ordered the Hot Honey Whipped Ricotta app. It didn't show up with the rest of the initially-ordered items, nor did it come with the second wave. We had to remind the staffer literally three or four times before it showed up, but it legit took an hour if not longer, and we were getting ready to leave when it made its appearance. The only upside to that? It didn't have enough time to get cold, which happened to the rest of the food very quickly due to the temperature in there. A lot of people got fries on the side, but those were icy within 10 or 15 minutes, unfortunately. They were honestly the best items I tried - cooked thoroughly which is my preference, though they needed ketchup for flavoring purposes. We also got a plain pizza to share, which was pretty bad - it was basically just a frozen, tasteless, rubbery pizza that wasn't even as good as a Celeste Pizza from the freezer section of the supermarket. I'd for sure avoid that section of the menu if you can. The bathroom was pleasant (and warm!). Everyone who visited came back raving about it, which is...unusual in my experience. A lot of amenities in there, like floss and sanitary napkins. It gives it almost a country club vibe, coupled with the bougie lockers in there. I don't see myself coming back, and certainly not when it's this cold. Frankly, I'm more concerned about the lack of accountability/acknowledgment from the staff than even the heating issue itself. Regardless, when your biggest selling point is the bathroom, that's a problem. read more

I'm a complete amateur when it comes to golfing, so it's great to play on a simulator without having to fish a ball out of the pond or accidentally hitting someone in the head. The location is excellent! Right near K-town, so you can come here before/after getting a boba or kimchi and slam some balls. There's a wide selection of clubs for both men and women, which are color coded. The options on the simulator are kind of overwhelming, so definitely pay attention when the staff does a demo. We did some candy crush style mini-game, but you can also just practice driving down range, or play a fake course. They even have a little TV that records your last swing so you can analyze your posture. Besides golf, they have a bar, and a arcade style basketball hoop which is free. read more

I literally just flew into New York four hours ago and of course had to stop by Five Iron with my boyfriend. We came for the late night special - from 9PM to close on Friday and Saturday nights, simulator rentals are only $1 as long as you bring a friend and order 2 drinks. We also decided to get dinner here - Korean bbq boneless wings, bang bang shrimp tacos, the fried chicken sandwich, and the Transfusion cocktail: The highlight of the meal was definitely the bang bang shrimp tacos - wow, incredible. Not gonna lie, I've had them before and if I ever get food here they're a must order. The tacos are packed with flavor, sweet with a little bang. The order comes with 3 tacos and a side of tortilla chips with salsa. The Korean bbq wings were also really yummy. They were sweet with a little kick and came with some celery and carrot sticks and ranch. The fried chicken sandwich was also yummy though I was expecting a bit more flavor. I ended up dipping it in the sauce from the Korean bbq wings haha. Also, it usually comes with fries but we subbed it for a salad. The transfusion drink was super delicious! But maybe because the vodka content wasn't that strong lol, I couldn't really taste it but I'm also not sure if I'm feeling either lmao. Food aside, golf was super fun! The staff are also super friendly and attentive. The bathroom is also packed with free toiletries, from tampons to disposable razors and spray on deodorant, which is so kind of them. Here for the Saturday night special. Place is large and comfortable though a little confusing at first. Fairly quiet but no issues with service as we were usually able to flag someone down if they didn't check in with us first. A few cocktails, pitchers and food. The mixed drinks are fine but seemed a bit weak. The food was surprisingly decent but expensive. Also a little strange to have finger food as I would worry about keeping my hands clean. That said, the shrimp tacos were decent. I'm not really qualified to talk about the golf part, but everything seems to work. Good fun. Basically a good reliable choice to fill a night out if you book ahead of time. It's actually perfect in my view because you get drinks, sports on tv, some physical activity in a relaxed space where you can actually sit down and have a conversation. Save your money and do anything else in the city. It was a complete waste of money. Nobody told us when our bay was ready so we were late to our reservation time, the bay hadn't been cleaned, tons of cups and ketchup all over the table, golf clubs all over the place. It was a complete mess. Nobody seemed to bat an eye. For $100 an hour, I expected to AT LEAST have a clean bay. Additionally, the technology doesn't work very well and if you mention it to those that work there, it appears to be a normal issue. The place is based around golf technology so you would think at least the golf technology worked. Be ready to fix the cameras yourself. read more

He and his staff make sure we have everything we need before we even knew we needed it. Even if you live near other locations, I'm closer to Herald Square, go to UES at 86th. Was awesome that they had a $1 promo during the summer months for last 2 hours every weekend. In addition, the facility is clean and has some fun amenities. However, that's where the positives end for me. Recently I was improperly charged for an hour when I didn't even call to make a reservation or show up to play at a booth. I just received a random email with a charge on my credit card and this is completely unacceptable. As a consumer, there are major privacy concerns that I have with this that are more than just poor service. Because of how this situation transpired, I would not be a customer again and I highly encourage you to proceed with caution should you visit five iron. They have a cool space but these concerns with them storing my card information without telling me is very frustrating and potentially illegal but I'm not bothering to dig further with that. Their response was that I agreed to that but I can say that I was never informed about storing credit card information as I always decline merchants keep this whenever I transact. read more

How many times did I swing and miss? At least 20. On a scale of 1-5 how much fun did I have? A for-sure 5. I've never been golfing before, nor have I even swung a club. It felt like a video game with real golf clubs - a very pleasant experience. Convenient location, great weekend activity. Something fun to do in this socially distant time at a gorgeous place hidden in the middle of the city. While I'm no professional, I think they offer a pretty cool service - nice for private events or a date. There's a full bar and food made ready to order. No need to bring your own clubs, they have plenty - both male & female, lefty and righty. Separations between each section (giving you some privacy) are perfect for beginners who don't want everyone to see their (lack of) skills. The simulation software offers you challenges for friendly competition or just a chance to see how long you can drive. Definitely something you can get hooked on... I'm going again, soon! read more

Five Iron in Herald Square is a fine establishment built during the pandemic, where you'll have a tee-rrific time. I can absolutely see this place thriving in a post-pandemic world, whereby corporate events are held here that is in a central location, providing upper-scale in-door golfing experience. It can be a good spot for developing your game, and bringing friends also. The place itself has a ton of real estate, offering 14 Trackman bays, 2 putting greens, a gym (separate $ charge), bar/kitchen and some lounge activities (pool, ping pong, some hoops). It's very well laid out and easy to 'physical distance' in this COVID world. The staff are attentive, helpful and have a great balance of leaving you alone/making sure everything is OK. The mask policy and COVID protocols are all intact so you feel very safe being here; the patrons and staff take it seriously, which is great (I don't ever see someone without their mask on). You can rent a bay and even borrow clubs (they are very nice clubs: Mizuno hot rods irons, Mavrik woods/hybrids/drivers, PING/Cobra drivers, Betti wedges, etc.) They also have putting mats with putters galore, and you can try them all out, spend as much time as you'd like putting. I got a lesson here once from James Cunha, and he was a great instructor, very informative, professional and tailors to each golfers development areas. Hope to get another lesson soon. It's a bit expensive but it's in a central location of Manhattan, and given the a"FORE"mentioned details and the experience they provide, it may be worth your time (and dime). We had a really good time here. Unfortunately the sensor wasn't set up correctly so everything was going way left. The manager effectively comped our whole session which was really very generous. We had the Buffalo chicken pizza and guacamole which were very good. The price point is pretty good considering it's only $15 more per hour than Chelsea piers which is worth it in this heat. I hosted a Sweet Sixteen Social corporate event for clients to coincide with the Sweet Sixteen on Thursday, March 24th. We had 25 people in the fitting lab location (back-to-back simulators) and the putting green off to the side. It was perfect. NCAA on the TVs, we had one simulator with closest to the pin competition and the other with a foursome playing 3 holes and others were putting and/or enjoying great food and drinks. It was perfection. The event lasted 3 hours, and we were having such a good time, we rotated down to the bar on the 1st floor to continue fun. The staff is very attentive (no one ever had an empty glass and food was promoted replenished when we devoured it) and golf pros there are outstanding, super knowledgeable and helpful - not trying to do too much, just make the experience more enjoyable. read more

This is the place where I started to learn how to golf! The sims are top of the league (Trackman), staff members are super friendly and the place has good food and beer selection. I took lessons from Susan Choi and I couldn't ask for a better teacher! As I was moving out of the country, I only had limited time to practice so I emailed her directly as she was FULLY BOOKED already. She carved out her time to teach me from the scratch and I can easily tell that she has a lot of experiences as she taught me a number of drills. On our last session, she wrote (hand writing) me all the ideal postures / different ball positions so that I can remember after I leave the country. I have been golfing on and off the last 10 years I decided to finally buy a lesson pack. The instructor Federico, after 4 sessions, completely revamped my swing. Everything from the set up, grip, back swing and downswing feels brand new. Irons are actually going their proper distances. My drives added 20-40 yards. I have found more confidence and consistency. If you need help, especially with irons and driver Federico will teach you why your swing has faults, and how to read the more important numbers on Trackman to adjust. Granted it's still early, but teaching me how to actually turn the torso, shallow the club, adjust my path and finish will help me for years to come. If you are looking for truthful analysis of your swing faults and seeking to add distance, Federico is a great choice. read more

Then when the head on my driver snapped, Bryan connected me with the Fitting Lab and the team there lead by Chris helped me find a shaft replacement, then got it repaired and reshafted in no time. Great staff very fast alotta new teens working great experience food is fantastic just needs a upgrade some French fries some more soft drink selections for younger groups simulator is top of the line u can't get any newer an better then there technology here a little bit pricy but if u go with groups u can spilt the bill 60$ a hour seems like 20 minutes when ur playing a round if ur just practicing the 60$ rate is fantastic for new comers they hand out a free 25min simulator card so u can come back.. which you will if u love golf they also have an amazing putting green that reads ur putts plus they have ping pong tables fuzzball table an even a open bar to watch the games for a guys night out or even a date night u cannot go wrong at five iron golf this is why i rate it 5stars read more
