These fools just completely screwed me over. I had a confirmed reservation in APRIL for a group of 12 on June 15. I have been calling and leaving voicemails AND emails to confirm the details. I just now (June 9) reached the same person who took and confirmed my reservation and he very nonchalantly informed me that they are now CLOSED on Tuesdays! Our experience was fantastic! Rich, our server, was exceptional--honest, attentive, and spot-on with his recommendations. We enjoyed the Truffle Mushroom Rigatoni, Burrata, Whipped Feta, Shrimp Aguachile, Buttermilk Fried Chicken, Pan-Seared Halibut, and Oysters. Stopped in for lunch for four, it was busy so we sat at the bar. Service was very good, no issues. Food and drinks were very good, great fried chicken tacos and tuna tacos. Family came here for an early dinner. Some of the dishes were cold or at best lukewarm and the chicken was slightly undercooked. They did reheat one of the dishes and cooked more chicken, but by the time it arrived at the table, most of us were done eating. I felt bad for my mother in law, who was treating us to dinner. The food and service were lackluster and a few of us had stomach aches a couple of hours later. The price of the food is inflated...I'll assume it's due to location. There are several other options in Long Beach, that have much tastier food, better service and great ambiance. It's difficult to understand why there are so many good reviews. Food was great. Atmosphere was good but service was bad. Very busy and took a long time to get a menu and order. Understandable and the food came pretty quickly but when we asked for the check it was a full half hour just to get it. Not sure what the story was but it had cleared out and we watched while others got their checks but not us. We had to ask four other staff members for help. We would have accepted an explanation but none was forthcoming. The kicker was the restaurant only had one bathroom so by the time we actually got some attention everyone's bladder had burst. 5 Ocean is a gem on the beach and served some of my favorite food staples with a unique approach that has me hooked. Friends and I shared the fried chicken, suckling pig, and salmon. The dishes were perfect in flavor, temperature and complementary sides. But then comes Mac & Cheese! This past Sunday we had dinner at this restaurant..... OMG was it amazing. We started with the Burratta Mozzarella with Carmelized Squash..... I was eating the squash alone on the bread it was so good. Then for dinner I ordered the Moroccan spiced Tuna with Spaghetti Squash. I think I said "I feel like I'm on vacation right now!" about 5 times during our meal. That's the awesome, laid back vibe you get from 5 Ocean. Even though it was raining during our lunch date, the location still gives you that feeling. It's small inside but on a beautiful day they have plenty of outdoor tables; some literally in the sand. The amazing food just adds to the perfect ambiance. We shared the chicken nachos that had the most amazing queso on them. I had the butter poached lobster tacos with corn and mango salsa and my husband had the fish of the day tacos that happened to be swordfish. He said it was the best swordfish he's ever had. To top it off, their margarita with house made limeade was refreshing and again...perfect! Everything was wonderful and also worth mentioning is that everyone on staff was following Covid protocol. Would not think of going if not for the gorgeous ocean front location. Bring your phone because you'll have to scan a QR code in order to see the menu. Service was not great. We ordered tacos and it would've been nice to have plates as well. Server never asked if everything was ok. Never asked if we wanted another drink. And didn't bring plates even after we asked for them. The "fish" tacos barely had any fish in them. The shells were dripping with oil. It was like we were eating at Jack in the box. I came with friends over labor day, and what a fantastic view! The service was wonderful and we ordered a pitcher of the Paloma (it was strong, lol), the tuna tartar, truffle fries and chips / dip. My husband and I have been to 5 Ocean twice...for lunch and dinner. Our tacos were fresh and delicious and paired with a yummy margarita...a perfect combo for this ocean view restaurant. Our lovely and knowledgeable waitress, Amy, let us know that my drink was made with top shelf ingredients. We enjoyed fresh salmon for dinner, which was cooked perfectly...crispy and moist. Our second time visiting this cool little beach restaurant and it was as delicious as our first. This time I made reservations and we got to sit out back on the deck. Great chill beach vibe sitting back there with the ocean breeze keeping us cool. There was unfortunately an irate diner at the table right next to us that refused to wear a mask when not seated and the owner handled it like a true gentleman and very professional. He calmly explained all the rules and regulations a restaurant has to deal with and follow in this Covid environment and the patron wasn't having it. It quickly escalated to some rude and nasty language but the owner kept his cool the entire time. The four patrons were refused service and eventually got the message and left. The owner came by our table and made sure we were okay and was even nice enough to treat us to dessert. It comes with fries, which we were surprised about because when we ordered it to go, we didn't get fries, but when we stayed at the establishment, there were fries. Hmmmm. Anyway, the bartender is amazing and makes a mean Mojito!!!! It is on point! We tried ordering the fried calamari, but they were sold out. I had the lemonade and it was nice. Small little indoor/ outdoor restaurant with a great location right by the beach in LB. They have a cute little outdoor patio where you can see the sand & hear the waves while you eat. Wasn't lucky enough to sit outside because the place is small & they were already taken but I still had a nice view from inside. Had one of the best linguini & clams dishes that I've ever had there. I think it should come with a side of bread to sop up all that delish garlicky clam sauce but they happily grilled me up some warm bread (& charged me for it). read more

I had a reservation for 5 people on a Monday evening in early November, and when we got there found out that the restaurant was going to close that day but opened up just to serve us rather than cancel. I was a little skeptical that the owner could be host, wait staff, bus staff, and cook and still get us in and out of there in a reasonable amount of time, but boy were we all impressed! Kalani promised it to be the best buttermilk chicken ever...and he didn't disappoint! The ahi tuna was also great over the tomato avocado salad. Berlin was super friendly, as well, and helpful with drink selection. Hole in the wall with prices that match the upscale Allegria Hotel. Why would you pay to eat here on metal, tables with plastic utensils etc when you can eat with in a fine dining room? Food is good and the kids working there are very nice, but when I went there first week of July, it was as if they didn't know summer was happening. A table side umbrella that they couldn't open and eventually tossed into the dunes, while we're sitting next to an unneeded space heater being hauled away as we dine sitting on rusty chairs paying top dollar for slow food service. Finally get to try it ! Sooooo good. We had ceviche mussels and octopus for appetizers. I love them alll. Especially the veggies that come with octopus. I could eat that all day. The coconut flavor on ceviche was so delicious. I'm just happy I felt like they are dairy friendly restaurant. Also the main we had local fish / lobster pot and lobster roll. They all amazing.
