This was one of the worst dining experiences I have had EVER had. I had a reservation at 7pm with my family on New Year's Eve. We waited 40 minutes for a table (yes even with a reservation), and had to go up to the hostess stand multiple times to get any sort of update. Understandable it's busy on New Year's Day, but we've never had this issue before and 40 minutes feels really long, we could have had our entire meal and left by that point. On top of that we were jammed packed in with multiple other families who were also waiting for a table and it was very uncomfortable. We decided to wait it out because typically we really love this place, and we have been coming here every New Year's Eve for four years straight. Obviously this restaurant has gone downhill severely. To top it off the manager was telling people how on Mother's Day they had 100 no shows, implying they over booked and let their customers pay the price. Which fine, it's a restaurant thing to overbook just in case, but to inconvenience your customers this way is not okay. When we finally got the table and wanted to sit down we were scolded by the busboy for attempting to sit when we were told by the manager we could, even though it wasn't fully ready yet. So we then saw the table next to it was nearly fully prepared and asked if we could just sit down there. The assistant manager was annoyed by us and asked for us to wait for silverware, but after 40 minutes we were desperate to sit, so we said we didn't mind if they prepped around us and politely begged to just sit down since we had been waiting so long. Finally he just gave us an exasperated "Fine!" and we sat despite the horrific attitude of the staff. We really weren't trying to be difficult, there was barely any room in the waiting area and we were just hoping to get out of the way after waiting so long and two of our family members needing to stand that entire time. The food wasn't great this time around, very unseasoned. It seemed rushed, without thought, and it took forever to come out. Service was incredibly slow, but due to no fault of our server. They had left their staff to pick up the pieces as they were obviously overwhelmed and it took a long time to get any service. It was such a disappointment as it is usually a favorite spot to go with prompt service. In the end the manager did nothing. We thought for sure he would comp something because he knew we had to wait very long, especially when we had other plans New Year's Eve, but he didn't even come up to us and apologize. He also knows we have been coming here for years, we told him that it's a tradition, so the way we were treated was so upsetting. Our waiter instead had to apologize even though it wasn't his fault at all, and nothing was comped from our meal. I would have appreciated if the manager apologized and did something to make up for the horrible experience on a major holiday. I wouldn't have written this review if he did the right thing and apologized, but he couldn't even do that. After many years of coming here I can't recommend it anymore. The management obviously has no care for their loyal customers and the food has only gotten worse over the years. Avoid it. read more

Here for Happy Hour & a birthday. The bar area is REALLY busy & crowded during Happy Hour, which is a good testament to the restaurant & we were lucky to snag a tall table. In spite of how busy it was, wait staff was efficient, attentive & friendly. Tapas plates are larger than most & there is a great & festive/ albeit noisy atmosphere here. Happy Hour drinks range from $7-9 (also good-sized) & tapas plates are $9 each. I look forward to trying this pale for a non-Happy Hour meal. read more

Hit on everything! First off the restaurant is spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. The ultimate litmus test? The bathrooms were spotless! If the bathrooms are clean you KNOW the kitchen is cared for the same way! Seated early for our reservation which is a bonus and waiter was super friendly and attentive from the moment we sat down. Cocktails were mixologist designed good looking and tasty AF! Ordered two apps that were so insanely good. Then our meals came out in a timely manner and the portions were big and perfectly cooked. We normally never order dessert but everything was so good we decided to and that too was awesome. GREAT overall experience! Another mark of a good restaurant is how full it was with local regulars and in our section there were four tables that knew their waitresses/waiters. To call yourself a Spanish restaurant but serve boxed rice and call it paella is an abomination and an embarrassment, especially when you charge top dollar for what I can buy on the shelf of a supermarket. Then to top it off with frozen peas????? The pulpo (octopus) was decent, needed lemon. The calamari was fine, it tasted fresh and not frozen. The skirt steak was cooked properly, but the sauce it came with as well as the mashed potatoes was way over-salted. You can tell Sangria 71 is trying to mimic Spanish cuisine, but it has a lot of work to do. My suggestion is to come for the live music and bar. read more

Amazing lunch special. Add to the lunch menu item and get a free drink and salad or soup. Opted for the white sangria and the chicken orzo soup. The portion for the soup is huge. Woweeeeee. Things that are in need of work: the wait for the waiter was extensive right from the start. It's took approximately 15-20 mins for the waiter to come to our table just to introduce himself and take our drink order. Food was okay but not worthy of the wait. Any time we needed something else, it took a long while to get. To be fair, I do not blame the waiter at all. He was busting his behind as he was the only waiter we saw working the floor (aside from the runners that were helping clear & prep tables). The food is always amazing and not over the moon in price, I have never been disappointed. People that I've recommended this place to have been very happy. I've been going there for as long as it's been opened. The service is great from beginning to end. The staff is always polite and attentive to your needs. It's also a nice vibe. If you just want to sit at the bar, they have wonderful summer cocktails to enjoy with some tapas to pick on. For those to have critiqued this wonderful restaurant in a negative way, perhaps they were having a bad day, no one is perfect. That said, we all have our own opinions. We wanted to give this place a try and went there for lunch on the weekend. Ordered the Paelle, taste average but the presentation was nice. The grill pork chop taste very plain and the color was off. Calamari was average and chewy. The pina colado was good though. We were also served with bread with olive oil dipping but the bread was 'cold'. The most annoying thing were the fruit flies...... they were non stop attacking our food and drinks. I have been to Sangria 71 two times. The first time was several years ago. I believe we got there at the tail end of happy hour. I had a cocktail which was delicious and I don't remember anything particular about the appetizer that we got at that time. This time around I was able to go at an earlier time still happy hour, Beautiful afternoon a weekday. Bar had majority of the seats filled, couple of tables had patrons. Staff is pleasant. Happy hour menu is more than decent for 8$, some apps have seafood, for example shrimp in a choice of sauce, another example of an app for 8$ the empanadas, which I received two of, and the ham croquet balls which came served as a total of six, I was impressed. I thought there would have been less. 7$ dollar sangria by the glass red or white, 7$dollar well drinks maybe margarita flavors/ choices. I was not impressed by anything in particular. sangria was initially strong but as you stirred it, I did not have any kind of alcoholic buzz at all and I Am a lightweight. ham croquettes did not like I do not recommend and the empanadas were basic overall I think I gave Sangria 71 a fighting chance and it would not be my first choice when I'm looking for a meal or happy hour unfortunately. read more

Tried this restaurant for the first time last night for my bday dinner. I have to eat gluten free because of allergy and this place came highly recommended. Many gf options. For appetizers I got the Camarones Pil Pil ( sizzling shrimp,fresh garlic with Guindilla pepper). I have to say this was out of this world. Shrimp was fresh and the garlic was just the right amount. Also, got the Charcuterie board and it was delicious. Dinner I got the Entrana a La Parrilla. (Seasoned skirt steak) with a side of saffron rice. The steak was so tasty and seasoned and you could of cut it with a fork. Dessert, was not many choices for gluten free. I had a choice of vanilla ice cream or flan. Went here for my Book club meeting. We were able to talk and enjoy the conversation easily so the noise level is pretty amiable here. We tried the white & red sangrias. Yes- a lot of ice and not too potent. The red was favored over the white. We tried chicken/beef/chorizo/seafood empanadas and loved every last one of them. The baked clams were too bready and the bacon was not crisp at all. Salads were all as expected. The crab & avocado tower was fresh & excellent. Paella Valencia was decent. The shrimp were overdone however and not cleaned well. The skirt steak was the star of the evening. Service was a bit spotty. One of our waiters dropped 4 glasses of sangria at our table. The liquid fell on one person. Waiter ran for napkins to clean up the floor but just placed an extra napkin in front of the person that got the spill. We had to ask for more napkins to clean her up. Table and chairs had to be moved for glass cleanup. There was an offhand apology but no visit from a manager or anything. We'd ordered a pitcher so not even sure if our spilled sangria was actually replaced. The glasses that were brought back were loaded with ice. I wouldn't let this incident put me off from visiting again but I would definitely be on the lookout for a manager and request further attention read more

Sangria 71 is the real deal if you enjoy genuine Spanish cuisine. The menu features a full selection of Tapas item as well as an excellent selection of appetizers and entrees. I've dined here a number of times and ordered tapas as well as regular entree items which are anything but "regular". I have a special attraction to spicy hot dishes so the Shrimp Ajillo is one of my favorites. Baby lamb chops and calamari from the tapas menu are a good start. It will be difficult to narrow down the best items from the tapas menu because they are all great. Paella is a specialty here so if that's one of your favs then this a the place to enjoy it. Anything in green sauce is tremendous. By the way if you want to rock and roll through your dinner start with a pitcher of sangria- red or white and you can't go wrong. Sit for a while after you've knocked off that pitcher of sangria and top your meal off with a slice of pistachio cake or, my favorite , flan. Service is excellent at this family operated restaurant and everyone is friendly and makes a successful effort to ensure that you thoroughly enjoy your dining experience. This use to be my favorite restsurant. Unfortunately i had the worst dining experience of my life eating and drinking Phorid flies. The staff tried to hide it and finally admitted that the entire strip mall was inundated with these sewer bugs. They were in all our drinks and bread baskets, and all thruout the restaurant. The owners only comped the 1/2 pitcher of sangria and I also returned my shrimp entree that was overcooked. The entire time I was checking my food to ensure I wasn't injesting these disgusting bugs. Plus Jose acused me of harassing 2 customers that came in after us because informed them. This was a nightmare. After our experience the manager should have really credited our meal. Now it's bad enough having the one item you are looking forward to being the worst possible thing you could've ever drank.. no problem the manager was super chill and took it off the menu . next came my soup, which was very hot filled with a few potatoes, a lot of Corzo, and some white beans, and very very watery broth. Came here for a bday celebration and I love that they are very prompt with reservations! And staffing was very well attentive! Since the name of the restaurant is called "Sangria" we all had to try a pitcher of there flavored mango sangria! Which I must say was super delicious!! There margaritas are nice and strong just how I like it! For an appetizer we had ordered the table some chicken, steak and shrimp empanadas, and fried calamari. I loved that they stamped the empanadas to indicate what is in each one. I wasn't so much of a fan of the empanadas however the fried calamari was my FAVE!! My main course meal consisted of the steak with my choice of side of steam string beans. The steak was cooked perfect and was nice and tender the string beans was also great just wished it had alil more flavor to them. Overall it's a beautiful place to try out especially for some delightful Spanish food. read more
